As a Chicago transplant for almost four years now, Ive been sending my tax information back and fourth with my hometown accountant. This year, my wife and I decided to look for a firm down here in the sunny South to complete our return.We found Susan, at Milligan Financial Services, on Main Street, in Greenville. It was a pleasure to work with a professional such as Susan; we just purchased a home in Q3 last year, and have a daughter at university. Susan was careful to explain the tax differences between our old three-flat in Chicago, vs. our new single-family home in Greenville, specifically in terms of deductions, capital gains, etc. This was much appreciated.Lastly, I received a call regarding a 1098-T form! As Susan was reviewing my return prior to e-file, she stated if I could submit two 1098-T forms from my daughters university I would benefit from this - I downloaded them, and yes, I did benefit!! Susan helped make everything easy to setup regarding appointments both on the phone and via email. Vishal, or Vish, was our tax professional and he was great to work with.Prior to your visit, they email you a list of items you should bring to help filling go quick and easy. I also brought my laptop so that I could access any online documents or relevant statements from online that I had failed to print off prior or didnt know I needed. This came in handy and Vish was able to direct me in what he needed to help me get the most on my return.Assuming that the return is filed and everything goes smoothly with regards to my 2017 taxes, I will say for now that my experience with Milligan Financial Services was great and I will be working with them in the future!FYI: located next to Glo on Main SalonPS: the cost is higher than some online sources but it was worth it. You walk in with the paperwork and, for most people with simple stuff, you are done in less than an hour.
