Working with Hunter was a pleasure. He was easy to talk with and was quick to understand what we wanted. We wanted to add on to our house to create a In-Law suite for my mother. He came to the house and made the measurements and took the pictures he needed. He then asked the questions that help him design what we wanted. The first design was mainly spot on, the addition looked like a mini of our house, he captured the features and style of the main house and tastefully designed the addition so that it would look like it was always there, not an after thought.My mom was very pleased. We made a few minor changes to the interior layout, he helped us make the right decisions. This was our first time and he made it easy.I highly recommend Pethel Designs.

Ah, first review.Ill start by saying, theres 2 ways you can take this, disgruntled customer only or simply take heed.A Good designer-Will take notes during conversations/emails to not have to ask later- remember they are working for YOU-will be honest when they are unsure of something-Probably a ton more Im forgetting, but most importantly look out for the customer! Remember you pay per conversation, whether its something youve spoke about before, request, or simply filler. They will charge per email/call. So make it short because there are things that arent needed to be discussed. 3 TIMES.- stay up to date on technologyMy needs were extremely simply, A pole barn house. My county, you have to have engineered plans when building this style house. Im young and have never built a house from planning to living, so of course Ill make mistakes. This is where Ill save you money. Do more research, look for months if you have to, there will be a plan you like online. Trust me. Everything you can think of, there are people with similar ideas as you. First mistake, I didnt believe that. If I had just waited a little longer, searched a little harder, I would be in a different position than I am today. Plans online are finished usually, able to have small details modified at decent prices and you get them quickly, some even pre engineered.Remember THEY are working for you.Its ok to demand what you want, If you dont speak on it and assume, youll always pay.Never assume, even though were not all engineers/designers, DO NOT assume they are aware. You will pay.Ask for a personal portfolio of similar ideas, it is your money and they work for you. If they cant do what you need, move on, again dont assume it will work out.Never assume a persons personality mirrors their work.Its ok to take suggestions from designers, but they are also not paying for the house and will not have to live in it.My experience has been lackluster and I would expect people looking to build to at least think about the things i say and please do more research, there are a ton of new design methods at comparable prices, good quality and not just looking for a paycheck.There are a lot more lessons learned from my experience, but too many words, too little views. Im always down for a good lesson.
