My experience at Computer Repair of Greensboro was second to none. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I was fairly certain that I was going to have to scrap my All in one PC before I arrived or at a minimum be forced to start all over losing my apps and data. However, they were super quick to find the issue and had it repaired extremely fast and under the estimate. Amazingly as well, nothing was lost and my PC is running better than it ever has. I highly recommend Computer Repair of GSO.
My fiancee took her laptop in because it wasnt turning on. They said they would look at it and have some news within the week. After not hearing anything for a while, she reached out about the computer, and they were almost always unresponsive. It took more than a month until we had news about the computer. They had done a bunch of work without talking to her and without providing a quote for the work. 100% unacceptable. They installed a new battery, installed Windows 10 Home (for $110), and installed a new SSD, for a total of $400-500, all without telling us.Fortunately, when she called and complained about this, they lowered the price to $375. Still, completely unacceptable. If you take your car to a mechanic to get an oil change, they shouldnt replace the transmission and expect you to pay up without getting your permission. To top it all off, the listed prices of the parts on the invoice are approximately double what they are online.Im giving it two stars because the people are nice and the repairs on the computer seem to have worked. That just doesnt make up for everything else.

I have had two occasions to visit Computer repair of Greensboro, one year apart. Both times I received excellent service . I have an older Asus computer, and they found the problem, explained it to me in a way that I could understand. I think their repairs were fairly priced. I was thrilled that I didn’t need to buy a new computer.

Did my drop off yesterday super professional, friendly, and knowledgeable... Being that my computer is so old (19 yr old Dell) couldnt promise to fix it but will try and get the files from it to another mother board if needed. Live over an hour and a half from them and read the reviews so decided on them and glad we did. Will keep you posted if they can do the impossible :-) UPDATE THEY DID THE IMPOSSIBLE SUPER HAPPY... My computer screen cracked so I went in to ask for help and information. They’re really polite and always suggest what’s best for you. For example, before they would do anything they would always ask for permission first and make sure you’re okay with what they plan to do with your tech. They always keep you updated and send you the information that you kind need to keep up with. For example, they ordered a new screen and they made sure to keep me updated on when they ordered and the approximate time it would arrive and they sent me the tracking number. Overall, they’re professional. I highly recommend!
I work from home—as many people are right now. My ONLY laptop went down just before Christmas and I was worried about finding a reputable, quality repair service. I did a google search and Computer Repair of Greensboro popped up with great reviews. I gave them a try and I was not disappointed! Customer service was fantastic. Not only did they keep me informed every step of the way, but they were quick. They even returned my laptop to me in better shape than when I’d dropped it off (some screws that hold the top and bottom of my laptop together were missing). I will definitely use them again. I encountered an unusual problem - at least for me - with my laptop. The power cord would not fit into its usual space. I could see something in the hole, but I did not understand what it could be. I called Computer Repair and was encouraged to bring the laptop in to examine it. After a few minutes, the tech found some small pieces of something in the space. As it turns out, I had recently put the laptop in my new suitcase, which had three small packets of silica gel in it. One of the packets had broke and spilled. Somehow, several of the very small items stuck in the power cord space. The tech cleaned it out - five minutes tops - and I was on my way, happy, pleased, and grateful for the quick service. I hope I dont have another problem, but I know where Im headed if I do.
After spending $165 between October 12 and December 9 at a regional repair chain I have used for years, All I got was a recommendation that my five-year-old $850 laptop was probably at the end of its useful life. I did a Google search for a different local option. The person I initially spoke with at Computer Repair of Greensboro advised me there would be a $75 diagnostic fee minimum. I decided that even if it was not repairable, $75 might be worth me knowing I truly did need to replace my laptop. There is a large sign on the wall behind where I dropped off my laptop with a completely unambiguous 2-part mission statement. The first part is the company’s satisfaction guaranteed policy that could not be more favorable if customers were allowed to write it themselves. The second part is the company’s commitment to provide quality computers free of charge through local charities to people people in need. What else do you want? Oh, and my laptop is working flawlessly now for only an additional $25 above the $75 diagnostic charge.

I took an old model PC to Computer of Greensboro to update the memory. They had to order a part, but even with the wait time for that, the turnaround was very quick, and the computer is doing its work well now! They send regular text communications to update customers on progress or to ask questions. They were very kind, answering all of my questions in regular English, not jargon, without making me feel stupid. Their location, near the Wesley Long hospital area, is very convenient. I brought my MacBook pro to Computer Repair after spilling water on it. They were efficient, helpful and very friendly. Overall, CRG did a good job with the entire repair process. I opted for the Rush Fee as Im a full-time college student with all of my data on my laptop. It ended up taking about a week to get my laptop back, but I was kept updated by the tech performing repairs on my laptop. Only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 was that when dropping my laptop off, I had given the go ahead in advance to do whatever repairs were needed, and to get parts ordered ASAP. To my knowledge, it took several days before parts were actually ordered. Im not sure if this is CRG protocol (whether customer has to OK estimated cost of repairs before parts are ordered). Laptop is back to running like-new. Highly recommend CRG

I took my computer in on Saturday morning, all during the day they gave constant updates, telling me what I needed, how much it would cost, answering my questions about how long my computer would last as I wanted to justify the expense. They texted me early Monday morning telling me it was ready, I picked it up, spoke to the VERY cooperative technician who had worked on it. Took it home, hooked it up, everything working GREAT! EDIT: The owner, Phillip, personally reached out to me. He replaced my top case for free, rescued some of my stickers from the old one, and gave me a partial refund. The employees responsible for this huge mistake are no longer working there. I am so glad that this issue was taken seriously.I am extremely disappointed with this repair place. I went in to get my cracked screen replaced and, due to issues with shipping and one screen arriving cracked, it took me OVER A MONTH to get it back. During that time, I got a free loaner laptop - a clunky, heavy, fairly slow computer. The staff was uncommunicative at best. I contacted them to ask how my repair was coming along, and it took 2 texts (both unanswered) and 2 calls (they did not call me back at first, despite saying they would) over the span of 3 or 4 business days to get a response.Now that I have it back, I found that, when installing the screen, THEY DRILLED THROUGH THE CASE on one corner - I can literally see the screw back. Thats unacceptable... I will be calling and asking for at least a partial refund.
Phillip was excellent. He was able to fix up my desktop extremely quickly, which was imperative as a doc student. The outreach he does for the community is also such a need right now, so its nice to know Im spending money somewhere thats giving back. Already gave him another job for me!
The hard drive in my laptop died, and they had it replaced and running better than ever within around 48 hours. Would absolutley absolutely recommend to anyone with computer trouble.

Brought my computer in for a bad DC jack and broken palmrest fasteners (the latter my own doing). I was able to get a loaner laptop while my computer was in the shop to continue my work. Joey was responsive and let me know of costs upfront prior to ordering parts. The parts took a while to come in but this was not due to CRG. I am SO glad we did!I just cant say enough good things about Philip and Tony. They were nice to work with; honest about the problem, time to repair and cost; they fixed my daughters laptop... and even found another (legitimate) issue. Im really happy I decided to get a second opinion on my laptop after initially going to Geek Squad! My laptop had some sort of power surge that melted part of my DC power jack and charger connection, so it could no longer be plugged in and charged. Otherwise, the laptop still worked like normal. Went to Geek Squad and one of the ladies took one look at the power jack area, said what she thought was wrong, and said its probably damaged beyond repair and to buy a new laptop. Really? (Youd think they would at least take it apart and do a further analysis, especially if Im willing to pay.) I wasnt going to settle on a by-the-fly assumption so I googled and found the Computer Repair place. These guys were amazing and so helpful to me and Tony went above and beyond in his servicing of my laptop! Turns out only my DC power jack and charger was really damaged (not my motherboard) and would only take a few hundred dollars to make it like brand new again. They always kept me up-to-date on any possible problems or repairs and asked if Id like to move forward before ordering anything. They even found a hard drive failure problem in my laptop and gave amazing suggestions to upgrade to an SSD that wasnt crazy expensive. Going forward, Im going to do business with these guys and forgo the sub-par experiences at Geek Squad! Do yourself a favor and please do the same. You wont regret it.

Phillip Bishop is friendly, but not overly so. I first met him when I bought the used iPad, on which I am writing this review, from him. He took the time to completely set it up for me. He also gets many great recommendations from several neighborhoods on our local NextDoor app. Recently he has moved his business from his home to an office building. Before you enter, there is a table set up with appropriate cleaning supplies and instructions to clean screens of all your devices, wear a mask, and then enter. I truly appreciate these precautions.I just had Computer Repair of Greensboro set up my new-to-me iPhone 7. They did an excellent job and were great to work with. Had problems with my computer. Called Computer Repair of Greensboro on Saturday morning around 11:00 AM and talked with Phillip Bishop. I asked that he come out the following week to check my computer but he told me he could come out that same day around 4:30 - 5:00 PM. Surprising that anyone would come out the same day but he was very nice and wanted to help me asap. He came out and checked computer, realized he needed to take with him and told me I could get the next day. Amazing, however, what he thought was wrong developed into something else. He gave me my options and I chose to purchase one of his refurbished units. Because by this time he had impressed me with his professionalism. I felt safe with purchasing from him. He moved all my information right then and I was ready to leave. I returned home and hooked up my computer and everything was there and computer worked like it should. Do yourself a favor and call this company when you need help with your computers. Pricing good and knowledge great.
The whole process took a little longer than I thought it would. They did figure out what the problem was. Their communication could use a little work. I went weeks without any update. I called once a week after my drop off, they always said they would call me back. They never did. So I randomly showed up and they provided me with an update. They told me my options and said they would call me back with another update. Again, no call or any type of communication. At this point, I knew I could be waiting several more weeks. In the end, I decided to invest in a new computer.
In 2017, when my computer developed a near-fatal virus, I asked a computer expert and friend for a recommendation . . . who can I call to fix my computer, someone I can trust, who wont rip me off, who wont make fun of my lack of computer savvy. He immediately said Call Phillip Bishop, gave me his information, and told me Phillip is honest, trustworthy, and knows what he is doing. I called him, he fixed my computer, and I posted his business card on my desk in case of emergencies.Fast forward to March of 2020. My computer had given me no problems, but it was running Windows 7 which Microsoft was no longer supporting, and I knew I had to make a change. I called Phillip, took my computer to his business; he inspected it and we discussed options. He gave me his honest opinion, told me how much it would cost, and we reached an agreement. Phillip installed Windows 10, cleaned the computer, installed some upgrades, transferred my files, and returned it the same afternoon when he went above and beyond what I had paid for, getting me started with the new system.I would encourage anyone with computer issues needing diagnostics, advice, repairs (they also sell refurbished computers and laptops) to call Computer Repair of Greensboro. What a great group of people to work with. My computer crashed early Sunday morning & I had a business presentations scheduled for Monday morning! After church I immediately started looking for someone who could possibly fix my Apple computer on a Sunday. Of course Apple computer could not look at it until later in the week. I can’t say enough about these people. They are very up front and forthcoming about costs, fee’s, and expected results.They were able to recover virtually all of my irreplaceable data, documents, photos, etc., from a severely damaged hard drive that I had nearly given up on.They ensured I was kept up to date on what was happening, what the options were, and what this was doing to my bill. I especially appreciated the manner in which they explained how and why they were doing what they were doing, making technical terminology easy for me to understand without being patronizing at all.In less than ten days, my entire unusable and unreadable hard drive was fully recovered, copied, and sent overnight to my house, which was very much appreciated so I didn’t have to make the two hour round trip to pick it up.I’m always skeptical of computer “repair” services, but the folks at Computer Repair of Greensboro tell you the facts up front, and are much more capable than the Geek Squad or other entry level help desks. They did the impossible with my drive and data.It is not inexpensive. But when you weigh out the costs of a lifetime of personal and business files that are irreplaceable against the money spent to recover that information, the money spent was worth every penny.Do yourself a favor and always back up your stuff. But for those times when the Ghost in the Machine has his own ideas of how your computer should or should not work, you can be confident they will exorcise the Demons, and give you your digital life back.Five stars, only because six stars isn’t an option.

Mr. Bishop came to my home which was a big help since I dont have a car. My computer was slow. He removed clutter from the hard drive. He said my hard drive was o.k. but recommended a sold state drive. I had seen this recommended by other tech experts. He came on Saturday afternoon. He was able to effect repairs over night at his shop which was faster than any other computer repair people I worked with in New York City. My computer is essentially a new computer. Also, he is a very nice man.

Computer Repair has done my last 2 Windows upgrades on my dated but very good HP-Pavilion x64 bit desktop computer originally purchased way back in 2005 from Vista to Windows 7 and now to Windows 10. Both times the upgrades were very clean with no issues. They recommended upgrading to SSD which is well worth it, as now my old baby performs like its brand new. The performance is excellent! Computer Repair worked on my son’s laptop and it’s running like a brand new laptop now. It’s faster and smoother—we’re super pleased. If I could give 10 stars I would in a heartbeat. Phillip not only is a computer geek but he is also a great person.I use my laptop for work and my hard drive crashed. Everyone want me to drop it and keep it for anywhere from 4 days to a week, his response “I’ll have it back to you tonight.” My questioning response was “What?!? I was shocked, yet a little Leary. However he had it completed and ALL my information saved. Cost was MUCH less than anyone else.I told him about the laptop my wife and kids use being slow like a turtle. As asked me to bring it in. I did. He said I’ll have it back to you tonight. Again he came through and even charged me less than we expected as he said “you didn’t need the other things we discussed.” Finally someone who didn’t try to take every penny he could from me, but someone who kept me 100% updated throughout the process.To top it off he loaned me an IPad for my daughter to use on our 6-hour trip from NC to PA. Show me someone else who treats their customers like that.That my folks is called WOWING your customers! Above and beyond.

Phillip repaired my MacBook, my sisters iPad, and advised me regarding a Windows based system that I also needed. He came to our home for the initial diagnosis and worked with us until we understood exactly what the problems were and were satisfied that they had been fixed. His great customer service is the reason I will never use anyone else for my computer needs.
I brought my 8+ year old desktop in to Phillip because it was not booting up. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue and fix everything that needed to be fixed. My computer has not run faster or smoother since it was brand new and out of the box. I cannot highly recommend Phillip and his company enough if you need quality computer work done.
