This is probably the prettiest place Greeneville has as far as hotels .. this place is just absolutely breathtaking and the rooms make you feel like your the president or famous .. there very professional..and the prices arent that bad considering how beautiful the rooms are and even the dinning room .. the bar is well stocked with the finest wines and liquors .. and the food is so good you cant describe it ...youll just have to see for your selves. Id hate to think I wouldnt recommend anyone to stay here .. its the best place to stay in town ...general Morgan inn keep up the awesome job ..you all are on top of it and just awesome !!! A+++++
Great upkeep on this old building. The main complaint is the paper thin walls. Im currently in my room listening to 3 of my neighbors.
For a 4 star hotel, this place leaves a good deal to be desired. Landscaping is beautiful. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous. Lots of character in every corner of this historic building. King premium room was nice, however, upon arrival we found 3 hairs in the shower. Not exactly a good way to start out your stay. The HVAC (Air/heat) was extremely loud when it kicked on. Not just LOUD, EXTREMELY LOUD. It actually scared my daughter out of sound sleep every time it kicked on. I ended up turning the HVAC fan to the ON position at 2 am so it wouldnt keep cycling on and off. It kept me up most of the night. It was too hot to turn it off, or I would have. Despite the problems, the room was spacious and comfortable. For the price of a nights stay, you would expect cleanliness and no hairs in your shower/tub upon arrival.
I loved my stay at General Morgan. The building is gorgeous and decadent inside and out and you can feel the rich history all throughout. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating and even provided meal vouchers. My room was wonderful with a lovely view of the terrace and the city. Im already booking my next stay.
Very Elegant Old Time Inn. The lobby is beautiful and comfortable the rooms are also very beautiful. We loved the style like an old time mansion. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were perfect. We definitely will visit here again. So many antique shops near by. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Very clean. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful hotel and not a bad price. It’s a very cute little town with lots of history. The cafe for breakfast was really good too.
Very clean, beautifully appointed. A real gem!
The only reason I’m giving this place 5 Stars is so everyone can see. First the breakfast vouchers are only good for up to 7.00. The sink linked and the toilet was made for very short people. The beds are extremely small. Oh and for people with service animals be careful there is not an convenient location to walk your dog. Basically for the money that they’re asking I would not recommend this place.
Very friendly, very clean and comfortable and very affordable. Very enjoyable stay.Theres a restaurant and coffee shop downstairs, theres a sandwich and icecream shop just outside and a couple different places to get a good breakfast including Tiptons. A walk around this little town has several historic sights.
Place was gross and dirty. The breakfast vouchers meant nothing the woman who run it are nasty and rude. Coffee was like water. The fact the bedding and carpet was gross and smelled awful for the price was horrendous.
Everything was great. Only negative is week water pressure in the shower
I booked and stayed at this lovely hotel Halloween night. Although there wasn’t nothing really going on for Halloween we had a great time. Which is understandable with all the craziness in the world these days. So instead we made our own fun walking down the street and enjoying seeing the historical buildings and businesses. After exploring the town we went back to the hotel to set in front of the warm fire place. The staff was absolutely amazing! We where given a small historical tour of the hotel taking us back in time. I love history so I really enjoyed it. My room was very clean and the beds where super comfortable. To the staff... keep being awesome! Thank you Rhonda, Amy and Rebecca. I will definitely be returning for another getaway.
The staff was friendly enough but the room wasnt really very clean. The carpet was really dirty. Restaurant and lounge wasnt open. In fairness we were there early May.
Nice waiter staff, steak was overdone and tough, stuffed chicken was very good
Room was clean and as expected, however, air conditioning is super loud. Wifi barely works in the room(407), only really good in the lobby
Awesome atmosphere, beautiful building, fantastic service during the entire stay!
One of the coolest, retro places Ive ever been! And the in-house restaurant Brumleys was out of this world!
Very disappointing hotel guest dont have reserved parking. There is a wedding here tonight & we have to park down the block.
We stayed one night, and was very impressed. From the front desk to the bar staff.....everyone was professional yet very friendly and helpful. The room accommodations were superb. I would highly recommend this historic hotel.
We love this place so much that we stay here each time we’re in Greeneville looking for land. Staff is amazing and the historic hotel makes you feel like royalty. The also offer a reduced rate for us military types. Class act through and through! Highly recommend!!
Water drains slow in bathroomOtherwise great place
Very nice place..
We stopped here trying to find a nice place to sleep. The hotel is very old, although the reception area looks good. If you like old architecture, old carpets, old elevators, then this will be your favorite. The air conditioner was very loud and my boyfriend was not able to sleep well. The patio area has almost no chairs, and we ended up in a ghost town. It is weird that the only things you can find in this place was law firms and hundreds of churches. Very weird.
Historic hotel with lots of interesting details. The rooms are a little cramped but the hotel was very clean.
Beautiful place! The hotel is a grandeur building! The restaurant, the Brumley was closed and a little disappointed however the staff was wonderful and gave us many names of awesome local restaurants.
This is my second time staying at this beautiful hotel in Greeneville Tennessee. I went there with my son on a business trip and we again enjoyed the architecture and comfort of the hotel rooms.
I have stayed at this hotel several times and would give a 5 star rating, but last weekend that changed. The hotel was not Covid prepared. They only have a small sign that tells you to social distance and not requiring patrons to wear masks. This hotel isn’t Covid-19 ready. Most of the employees wear mask but some employees didn’t wear mask sitting in the reception desks. This is unacceptable.
Great Historical place to stay, it reminded me of the Overlook hotel from the Shinning mixed with Bates HotelHighly recommended, I will be staying again in the next month or so.
My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night. Truly beautiful place. The staff is amazing. The bed and pillows were like sleeping on a cloud. We had an amazing time, and cant wait to stay here again soon. Thank you for making our wedding night so special!!
Staff very nice. Room in need of a refresh. Carpet old and buckled.Very dangerous if someone trips. Chair in the broken down and nasty
Very nice place!! Rebekah Was very nice! I felt like Ive known her for years!
Terrible place to find from street, room didnt have fridge or microwave but paid same price as ones that did and coffee pot didnt work, very disappointing. When addressing issues with fridge and microwave was told that not all rooms have them, should have reduced price I my opinion.
We go to the holiday buffets. There is usually a large group that goes. Weve always gotten good service and the food has always been awesome. In all the years weve been doing in this, we only had only one meal that wasnt great. I think they were going through a staff change. It can be a little pricey but its full service and they dont scrimp on the amount of food you eat or the quality. Usually they have shrimp, oysters on the half shell, and smoked salmon for appetizer, home made soup, salad, three meat entrees, sides and dessert. I look forward to going every time and have already made reservations for Christmas. BTW be sure to reserve and do so early. Oh, and dont eat much the morning of the feast!
Beautiful Historic Hotel! We did the New Years Eve package! The hotel room was lovely, we had a nice view of the down town area from our room. The rooms could use a little bit of updating but overall still nice. Some suggestions for the New Years Eve activities would be to have the Live music in the Ballroom as the seating area was limited in the Lobby area and more people would enjoy the live music. Everything closed immediately at midnight, most people would enjoy the opportunity to visit and celebrate just a bit longer after ringing in the new year! Dinner provided with the New Year’s Eve package was delicious and provided many options.Breakfast was also included the next day (New Years Day) we were told construction was beginning on the bar and could not order mimosas or bloody Mary’s with our breakfast on New Year’s Day! (It would have been nice to have been able to visit with friends/family and enjoy mimosas on New Year’s Day before checking out. Parking was very limited as the activities were open to everyone, even guests who were not staying at the Hotel. Overall would definitely visit again, but wish a little bit of tweaking could be done for the New Years Eve Activities.
The General Morgan Inn is a beautiful location for any special event! The staff is so accommodating and we enjoy being able to work alongside their amazing team when we create event designs. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for both indoor and outdoor event spaces!
Very historical, very upscale in an old time way,the restaurant is very nice with great food and service. It is well worth the time and trip. You will enjoy.
Super service in a time when it is a rare thing.
Beautiful historic hotel!
Loved Brumleys but the new menu is lacking and dishes a little on the simple side for a high end place. Hope after covid they rock again.
One of the best hotels we have stayed at. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant are exceptional. So much charm at this hotel. Rooms are warm and welcoming. Will definitely visit again.
We stayed here for a weekend and really enjoyed it. Everyone at the hotel, the bar, the wait staff were all so friendly and inviting. I was genuinely surprised at how delicious our dinner and desserts were. Clean and comfy rooms. Fresh breakfast brought to your table. Staying at the hotel... learning some history... it was all a very wonderful. Would come again.
My sister in law held her wedding reception here almost 16 years ago, so this review is kind of old. I remember the food was excellent and so was the service. The room was quite nice she had the honeymoon or presidential suite.
My friend and I went to Brumleys (located inside the General Morgan), and had such a wonderful experience. From the moment we entered the Restaurant, to the time we left, the experience was magical. It felt better than home. The table dressings were clean and pristine. The waiter made us feel very comfortable, and took the time to answer menu questions, and provide small, hilarious conversation. The Parmesan Risotto Cakes were decadent. This was truly a memorable experience that I look forward to repeating very soon. Thank you to the Master Chef, all staff and personnel for this magnificent experience. Thank you, Mr. Winters! We shall return.
Facility was great. The breakfast buffet for the meeting I was there for was good. However, though it was a buffet they had servers pouring the coffee and there wasnt enough of them. I was only able to get one cup of coffee. They had self serve juice and iced tea. I dont understand why they wouldnt have done the coffee the same.
Stayed on a Monday evening. Restaurant/ bar was closed and really limited to places to go out things to do. Plus, according to the front desk, our phone lines were haunted and rang for no reason.
We would definitely stay here again. Beautiful inside and out and the service was great. Also my wife and I loved the a la carte breakfast at the coffee shop.
Mr. Wayne is so sweet! He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is satisfied. If you need help, he’s always there. Very good lunch guys!
Very nice!
Amazing food and beautiful hotel! The bar is majestic and definitely a relic! Love this and recommend this to everyone. Its a must!
Its a Beautiful place. But I was talking with my son-in-law we just didnt have the wow effect. The food was good but Im just not used to trying to eat green beans that are crunchy and the other vegetables were really crunchy and we just arent use to that if they were cooked more thay would taste much better. Im sorry but I must be honest. But the servers were Top notch. It is a very beautiful place but I dought that I will go back to the Thanksgiving dinner.
Nice, comfortable setting. Helpful staff. The historical aspect was just there, barely. If youre interested in easy access to downtown, stay here. If not, then you can find a less expensive location
We love the General Morgan Inn in Greeneville, Tennessee. Very well kept, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast. I would highly recommend a stay at this Inn. There are a variety of historic sites to visit in the area and its just over an hour from Pigeon Forge a popular tourist destination.
Me and my wife stayed here for our anniversary and the people here went above and beyond our expectations. It made my wife so happy and me to of course you seriously need to stay here and enjoy the antiquity of the place and feel the history. definitely recommend staying here.
Event was on the rooftop terrace. Service was fantastic and the food was excellent. The chicken and the fish were both cooked well and seasoned appropriately. It was hot (90s in June). But the views of the city were great and the sunset provided fantastic views and pictures.
Ive never stayed here before so I cant attest to that. I love nearby and go in fairly often for events. Staff is usually friendly. Very nice inside the building. The restaurant is very good too, a little pricey. They usually put up decorations for the season and its nice to go in every once and a while just to see it.
I play violin at the chocolate fantasy event every year and the General Morgan Inn is always clean, modern, and pleasant to be a part of. The staff Ive met were friendly and Id recommend it to anyone in the area. It is also in close proximity to a nice coffee shop which is a bonus.
Very cool building with lots of history!
Great customer service, very accommodating, we were late arrivals and they were pleasant and helpful, even at 2 am. Room was clean and unique in appearance. Temperature control wasnt the best and we had to hunt for outlets a bit, but its an old, historic building so really wasnt bad considering. Complimentary breakfast provided at the next door coffee place was great, and complimentary electric car charging was provided.
A bit pricey, but great hotel all around!
We stopped in for a quick drink and to check it out. This was our first time going here. Very friendly people. Art attractions were nice. Wait staff at the restaurant were fantastic. My wife has ciliacs disease. I was surprised that they have not only gluten free menue items but also gluten free rolls for their burgers. I cant wait to visit again
Beautiful hotel inside and out. Definitely feel like youre stepping back in time. The only thing that I can say is the AC unit in my room is loud. Woke me up a few times last night as it roared to turn on. Other than that its a great hotel. Missed the breakfast this morning but looking forward to try it tomorrow morning
This historic hotel in a quiet historic town is a nice getaway from the past. Now there arent many other options besides a motel 8 which I wouldnt recommend. The GM is a little pricey but the rooms are large, clean, well appointed and well kept. The value is more than commensurate with the price. I highly recommend this charming place.
Very nice hotel with an upscale vibe. Very good bar and restaurant... Great for a quiet, romantic evening.
The historic atmosphere is incomparable. However, the catfish poor boy left much to be desired and I wouldnt have it again. Half way through I discovered a sizable portion that wasnt done. It was too late to ask for another one. Id go back, as my companions all enjoyed their dishes - fried chicken and the buffet.
We stayed here for a couple nights for a wedding and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel looked very nice and was located in the middle of small historic town. Sadly alot of the buildings around the hotel appeared empty and neglected. The room was very clean and spacious. The only negative thing I have to say about the room was that the AC unit was very loud. The rehearsal dinner and reception were at the hotel. The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. The prepared food was good. The hotel bar closed really early and there were no bars within walking distance. The restaurant also closed a bit earlier than most places and there are no other food options within walking distance for a later dinner.
The General Morgan Inn is a nice hotel that has done its best to be modern without sacrificing its civil war era esthetic. The rooms are very well decorated and maintained, not to mention HUGE. The rooms have 12 foot ceilings, and about double the typical hotel room square footage. Bathrooms are about double the normal size as well...a function of the age of the building. It does have an upscale bar and restaurant, which unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to visit. Its worth spending a night here if youre in town on business for sure, but be warned there isnt much nearby for convenience. You will have to drive some distance for fuel, food, etc.
Very interesting place to visit, gives a good idea of what the past has been looking like.I hope the Downtown area of Greeneville is soon upgraded a bit. It would make the place even better if there are a few more Shops and Restaurants around so that a stroll around the hotel becomes possible.
Historic hotel with fine dining, and quaint shops. Great local painted art for sale there also.
Beautiful hotel with a staff that never stops. The rooms are beautiful and have a story for each finely decorated suite. 5💫 all the way!
Enjoy Sunday brunch at Brumleys. Food excellent. Love that they have a bloody Mary bar. Service is usually good but it sometimes can be a bit off. Enjoy eating in the library. Prices reasonable. A very nice dignified place. Worth dressing up a bit!
We sat in the lobby next to the fireplace and chatted with hot drinks. There was no music that day, but it was just a delightful evening. Other people were milling around and talking quite comfortably in small groups.
We are having our wedding reception at the terrace and the staff has been friendly and accommodating to our needs. The grounds are well kept and the inside decor is excellent.Edit: the wedding and rehearsal meals were wonderful and beautiful. I would recommend events here for anyone planning to have a function in the area.
Very clean, nice hotel. All of the staff were friendly, and loved sitting in the bar and foyer listing to the live piano. The restaurant was also great, really enjoyed the shrimp and grits!
Love this place. Very nice great access to downtown.
A gem of a restaurant in downtown Greenville. Much better than the chains on 11E. Farm to table dinners plus other items on the menu. Full bar service. Very friendly staff. Gregory is an excellent waiter.
Beautiful venue with several different sized rooms to choose from for your event. The inn is lovely, with old world charm and updated convenience.
Incredibly beautiful hotel!! Set in a historic downtown, it looks like a historic 5 star treasure! The staff is wonderfully accommodating and kind and the whole place feels truly elegant. The rooftop deck was an amazing open air event space. Everything was perfection. Pleasantly suprised and extremely impressed!!!
They have live music on the roof top not to mention great choices of food, drinks and an excellent wine selection. Brumleys is definitely a place you need to visit. They serve American cuisine. Overall you will enjoy your stay or meal with family and friends. The exceptional and friendly staff will see that you enjoy your visit.
The hotel is conveniently located in Greeneville and has neat history behind it. The rooms are comfortable - it felt like staying in a guest room in an old mansion. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay!
Outstanding Christmas buffet. Outstanding service! Thank you for making Christmas delightful.
Very nice. Didnt like the Christmas Buffet as much as the Thanksgiving Buffet. The prime rib was overdone. The corn pudding was delicious but was a little disappointed with the rest of the sides and desserts. Very friendly and curious staff, as always.
Did not stay at the inn only had dinner but it was a great experience. Not a place for just any night out BUT they have nightly specials some of which are cheaper. The night we went there was a burger special. Most of them were around $10. For dinner my in-laws each had the filet mignon entree price at $34 each and 2 sides which they enjoyed but I dont recall what they were. I had the 24-hour Angus short rib with a planet glaze, with mashed potatoes and bacon Brussels. Had cheap kits menu. My daughter had chicken fingers with honey mustard and fries. Lovely decor, paintings the like.
Beautiful inn, immaculately clean. Check in was friendly, quick, and easy. My room was beautiful and well-appointed. I will definitely stay there again.
I visited recently for a day training. A beautiful reconstruction with lots of historical tidbits scattered throughout. I love the fireplace in the great hall. You can almost step back in time here.
Actually, brunch at Bromleys. It was delightful. Quiche was excellent. Enjoyed the live piano music from the lobby. Tables were a bit close together or 5 stars
Love the experience at the General Morgan Inn. I love movies and reading books from the late 1800s and early 1900s and this hotel took me back in time during the Civil War days. The original owner was our 17th President of the U.S., President Andrew Johnson. The small historical town of Charlotte, TN is so quite and such a beautiful area.
Wonderful hotel in downtown Greeneville. Beautiful lobby and plenty of history as part of the hotel story and decor. Great place to stay or hold a banquet/event. Plus, when you stay here you get a voucher for breakfast at Catalyst Coffee Company!
The place to stay in East Tennessee, everything is so great. The food is awesome, the people are awesome, it is a playground for travel buffs.
The hotel itself was beautiful. However, apparently they thought I had checked out of my room and a maintenance man knocked and used his master key to open the door (after I said just a moment...I guess not loud enough) as far as the security chain would allow...He just froze and stared at my just rolled out of bed look a few seconds before saying oh...and closing the door. No sorry, whoops, nothing. So...moral of the story...always use the security features available.
We enjoy dining at Brumleys restaurant several times a year. The decor is very elegant and the food is always excellent. The menu changes seasonally and the food is locally sourced as much as possible. The servers are always very friendly and our overall experience is always wonderful.
Super friendly staff, beautiful rooms, rich history, very relaxing.
Very nice hotel, we stayed here many times while our son was going to Tusculum College. They offered a college rate as well. Close to everything in Greeneville. So much fun to read about all the History within the area. Great spot! would recommend.
Had the shrimp & grits, the best I ever had. The service was impeccable, and all the folks were so friendly & welcoming. Wish the had a true Sunday brunch buffet.
Went to General Morgan Inn for fundraiser event in the ball room. Was really nice venue, staff was friendly and kind. Had a really good time.
No complaints here. We were actually headed to Ashville but no rooms were available. Searched Google and found this place. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. Beautiful place with tall ceilings. Bed was very comfortable. Room was large with everything you need in a hotel room. I will come back if in the area. Trying the onsite restaurant next.
Hands down the best place to stay in Greeneville. Everything about the hotel is quaint and charming.
Excellent place
