Smarter Broadband, so far, has been more reliable than other internet providers I have tried. Their support folks respond quickly. For general home internet, their service works great.
Wonderful small internet company. Great customer service and internet quality. Have fast and consistent speeds. Only line of sight, so need to leave be near a tower. Can be a bit of a wait for installation

This internet was less reliable then our DSL for 4x as much. WAY overpriced for such poor quality. They charged hundreds to install, and then after they provided unacceptable service they charged to disconnect. This should be criminal.
Really, continually disappointed with Smarter Broadband.For the price they charge, I should have the service at my business to have 20+ devices streaming without concern.Instead, the three computers and four phones struggle to complete the most basic internet tasks. I cant stream music, podcasts, or audiobooks without constant, obnoxious interruption. My employee has to download whatever podcasts he wants from his home internet before coming to work. From my average speed test, I think the basic cable internet I have at home produces 10-20 times the speed, with 1% of the loss, for 20% of the price.Some Days, Like today, I cant even get outlook to send an email until most of the other businesses have finished for the day.I think in the couple years weve had service here, weve called to complain about lack of connection or near-zero bandwidth on the order of 50 times. to their credit, they usually come out and fix it relatively quickly, but it never lasts.When we heard there would finally be another option, we stopped bothering to call. A phone call, by the way, which had to be made outside because theres not great cell service inside metal buildings and the internet was never sufficient for phone calls.I think they have over-subscribed whatever node or switch we are on by 50x what it should be handling.Oh, and if you invested in a generator for the blackouts? decent chance the whole chain of relays they use dont all have generators, meaning theres a pretty good chance you wont have internet. We didnt.I Say this with no exaggeration, no hyperbole- if I could pay this price for basic DSL at 768kbps, I would have made the switch. unfortunately for me, Im told the local phone line switch is full, and has been for years. Fortunately for me, Theyre hanging a fiber line on my building next week.The folks over there are nice enough, but they spend too much time avoiding keeping the promise made for me to work with them any more to try to resolve this.
I highly recommend Smarter Broadband. They are honest and straight forward. Not a bunch of hidden costs. Works great out in the country where we cant get most companies. Great customer service and technicians.

I am so extremely pleased with our Internet provider and customer service we get excellent Internet and we are in a remote area that doesnβt get Wi-Fi usually the guy who installed our satellite was fast and talented and if we ever are late and need a couple more days to pay our bill they are super sweet and understanding I would 1,000,000% recommend them to anybody in Nevada County!!! Thank you smarter broadband!! My family of six always thanks you!! With them needing to do homework and watch Netflix and play fortnite! Lol. Itβs always super fast!
I called yesterday about not having access to the internet. I got a call this morning from the tech that I talked to yesterday. He showed up 30 minutes later. Arranged for a tree climber to arrive about 20 minutes later. About an hour later, the problem with the dish at the top of a large pine tree was repaired. I could not have asked for better service.
Just a little background on where we live at. We live 5 minutes from downtown grass valley where its pretty flat and minimal trees.Every morning between 7-10am, every afternoon/evening between 4pm-midnight and every weekend (all day/night) we get between 0.5-1.5mbps download speeds. If were really lucky.... and were at home, off work (rare) between the hours of 11am-4pm, we might get 3-4mbps. But whos at home during the day. We like to use the internet when were off work, after 4pm. The internet after 4pm is literally 0.5-1.mbps with a wire connected directly from my laptop to the modem.Weve called multiple times and have given up because the technicians have no answers. Resetting the router does nothing. Weve had them come out, climb the tree for $300 (I think) and nothing changed. We had them come out and give us a new modem, nothing changed. We are in direct line of sight and the technician said that our line of sight is in the top tier of most houses in Nevada county.I would give you 0 stars if I could because this review is for your internet, not your customer service.
Everything, from customer service, tech support, installers, and billing was the best Ive ever received. A+
My service goes down far too often. Ive been with them for years and this happens with alarming frequency. Their customer service is very responsive and friendly and if it goes down within business hours they usually have it back up with 30 minutes of me calling, though I do have to call. Unfortunately it most often goes down on the weekend or in the evening so Im usually in the dark, so to speak, until the next morning. On balance the bandwidth provided is ample and I am able to stream quite a bit. I really wish they would do something to prevent these outages as their excellent customer service and bandwidth keep me on board.
Although they cant serve us anymore, because of line of sight....(somethings gotta change)....We were mostly very pleased with their service and wish we could get your service again.
The wifi goes out almost once a day at least and I reset the router fairly frequently, especially since thats always the first thing they ask you when you call if you can get someone considering theres no one working on weekends or after 7pm. They ask you to upgrade your plan every time and weβve upgraded twice. It worked well for a couple of years before it didnβt and then we had to upgrade and after the upgrade it worked well for a couple months and was right back to square one. Then we upgraded again and its the same scenario. I will say the employees themselves are nice but the internet service isnβt especially for the price. If you can get AT&T get it. Its $50 for 64 megabytes per second. We pay $70 for 6 megabytes for second. Thats overpriced and taking advantage of your customers just because of what has in the past been a lack of competition. Awful internet.

Not much to complain about, theres really only two companies to go with out here where i live and ive never witnessed the wifi go down ever. I stream sports sometimes and play video games and rarelyy have lag or problems. Great service theyve came through a ton!

If its the only internet you can get its better than nothing. Horrible cost, slow speeds, data caps, and they employ a anti-freedom fascist network policy. I pay over $120 a month and have to limit my data use in order to not get charged more. We are a small start up of artists and cypherpunks doing open source software dev. Smarter caps your use at 200 GB. This company sucks. I feel stupider for using this but its the only internet i can get on loma rica.i cant run any bitcoin nodes to secure transactions (as they take about 200gb a month), I cant broadcast my live streaming Art shows (too slow), I cant run my own cloud servers to keep my data safe due to the data caps, i cant run tor nodes to help others gain freedom/privacy, I cant run AI botnets on your service because their network policy stifles innovation.The net was built on the backs of the taxpayer and gateway holders like smarter and others, are parasites on the collective creative energy of humanity. this type of network policy will lead to a technological dystopian nightmare. It is anti freedom and anti innovation, and it hurts the local economy.To add insult to injury, they offer antiquated internet speeds speeds at ridiculous prices. my cell phone pipes 40-50 megs down and 15-20 up for only 60$ a month. unlimited.This to me is just another example of how net neutrality has failed to deliver and fair and free internet, and people are being extorted by companies for money. How can tech startups, artists survive without high speed affordable internet? Smarter Broadbands service favors wealthy people and corporations with capital. This is a great example of internet fast lanes and prioritized data.Like i said, smarter is a worst case only, basic end user gateway. Only use this if you have no other solutions to internet access. Smarter measures your freedom online by your income. I use it only as back up to 4-5x faster 4g cellular.
I cant say enough good things about this company. Where we live, there are not a lot of options for high speed internet. I am so glad that I found smarterbroadband. Our internet is super fast and we are able to stream movies in an instant. We have had zero issues even through all of the storms this winter. They are a local company with fantastic employees. Love this company!

Absolutely the best all around. I live in an area with lots and lots of trees so our options for Internet were slim. I paid a competitor to come out, climb a tree and paid $150 only to find out that they couldnt get signal and we were left with no service. I was pretty bummed but I didnt give up. I contacted Smarter Broadband and they sent someone out to do an area assessment. The technician explained to me that SB uses different equipment that is able to see through some obstruction. Unlike the competitor that only uses equipment for a direct line of sight. I scheduled the installation with the fear still that they wouldnt be able to get a signal. They came out and did the tree climb and was able to hook us up. I was so happy that I wanted to hug the guy. Their service since installation has been incredible. It has rained a few times and have had some windy days. I have experienced NO delays, NO slow down and NO interruption at all. Previous to Smarter Broadband, we had a satellite dish for internet which was painfully slow and had very limited data per month. With SB, my family and I can do anything and everything now. Now I can enjoy Netflix. Their prices are amazing along with lots of data and download speeds to suit todays technology. I highly recommend Smarter Broadband and am the first one to recommend them to anyone up in the mountains looking for a better option. Thanks Smarter Broadband. You have made us very happy!!

Crashes regularly and are closed on the weekends so you cannot be assisted in any way, especially when you need Internet for work related submissions, smarterbroadband will always be there to fail you
