My husband I kayaked this past weekend and had a wonderful experience. Lonestar Adventure Sports was very kind, I had to change my reservation, they were very helpful in refunding my original booking and getting my new one processed. Once we arrived they were very helpful in getting us what we needed and out on the water for some great fun. They gave us tips on where to go, I will definitely be using them again and would recommend them to anyone, wonderful experience!!!
Friendly and knowledgeable, we had a great time and a beautiful experience. The area is peaceful. Park staff and Lonestar staff were welcoming. The equipment was well-maintained. Even the life jackets smelled good. I hope to go kayaking here again soon.
Nice and on point customer service. Had a lot of fun. Will definitely make Lonestar Adventure Sports my go to place for kayaking.
We have so much fun when we rent. Dog friendly, too. The CX is great in terms of communication.
We had a great time! Being a first timer, Cole gave us some instructions, and we were off. It was easier than expected. It is a good time to do on a weekday if possible, not to busy.
Had an awesome time taking out a double kayak with my girlfriend! The guy working was really friendly and helped make sure we were all set and ready to go. Overall, we loved the experience and would go back!
Nice scenery. There are covered picnic tables with grills but they do fill up when the weather is nice. I saw some people bring hammocks since there are plenty of trees. I wish I brought mine. It looked like a great idea. Its 5 dollars to get into the park. I went with a group of five and rented kayaks. They have singles, doubles as well as paddle boarding. They also have lake side hiking trails. Overall we had a fun day.
Lonestar made renting kayaks super easy. Great customer service and location
Kayak and paddle board rentals werent too expensive and Rockledge park has pretty secnery. I enjoyed the kayak trip and Im interested in doing it again.
Very friendly staff. Great experience. I am going to be a regular now.
Cool location and very reasonable price! Guys had knowledge to give and quality equipment. Me and my family had a good time with Lonestar Adventure! Thanks yall
First of all, THEY DONT REQUIRE FACE DIAPERS LIKE WHITE ROCK LAKE DOES!!They have plenty of watercraft available for all comers, and the gal who received us pulled the two-seater out to the waters edge herself. She also allowed us to begin our outing at the half-hour since we were early.
Great place to rent a kayak. I have gone on two one hour outings. Once with my 11 year old daughter when there was wind and it was choppy and another time with my 13 year old son with calm waters. Both times were super fun. The employees make sure you have all you need and know what to do if you have never been on a kayak. Pretty area of the lake to explore. Well be back. An employee told me that when you pay the $5 park entrance they will give you a pamphlet that includes a $5 coupon off Lonestar...that worked for us when we paid in person. There are restrooms nearby. We opted not to spend extra money on a dry pack and stored our stuff in our car while Lonestar held onto our keys.
I love Peter and his team! Absolutely awesome experience, REALLY nice people, totally cool vibe. Highly reccommend!Sally Redden
Friendly staff and get equipment for fun on the water! Rates are very reasonable too.
Tried for the first time during spring break. My son and I had a fantastic time! I look forward to returning some time this summer.
Amazing place!! It was our first time kayaking and it was perfect! The team gave us a lesson & was very kind to us. We will be returning next weekend!
We love using this space for our annual Company Picnic!
Great service and easy afternoon adventure with friends on the lake. We have used Lonestar Adventure Sports a couple of times over the summer and their staff has managed our reservations professionally and with kindness. We even had 3 weekends in a row cancelled due to weather/wind and the staff called personally to let us know, then conveniently applied our balance to a gift card which we were able to redeem online when we made our next reservation. Lonestar Adventure Sports is our go-to kayak trip for a relaxing paddle close to N. Dallas. Thanks Lonestar!Note: The fee for Rockledge Park is actually $10 per vehicle now, it was increased but hasnt been updated on the website yet.
My son had this great idea to try kayaking to start the long holiday weekend. Having never done it before, I figured why not? A quick google search identied a few options, and not wanted to be tied to a guided tour, I chose Lonestar Adv because of the longer hours available for rent at pretty cheap price. This turned out to be a great option. We went at our own pace, stopped and swam whenever we wanted, and got to explore a lot more than would be been possible in the typical 1 or 2 hours guided tour. The best part, after hours of peddling, my arms are starting to look like Popeyes. The equipment seems to be in good shape, Lake Grapevine is quite beautiful, and above all the staff was great. They are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely return, and highly recommend.
It was so much fun! Kayaking it’s a wonderful experience since the very first time doing it. We made reservations online twice, and by the time we arrived they had our equipments ready. If you ask, the guys will give you basic but helpful instructions. The rest is to have a adventure spirit and enjoying!!
I would not recommend this place if you have never kayaked or done a stand up paddle board before! The complimentary instruction advertised on their website was them showing me how to hold the paddle and that was it. Absolutely no instruction on how to get on the paddle board or stand up. The list of Items to Bring should include a prior knowledge of how to use the equipment. I did not receive the safety whistle that the website says youll receive. The equipment itself was good enough quality (although I have nothing to compare it to because this was my first time) and locating the stand was easy enough. The lake is pretty and it definitely has the potential to be an enjoyable experience. I feel the verbiage of the website should be more clear on exactly the level of instruction one should expect to receive.
Staff was friendly, helpful and kind. The booking system was easy. Good customer service, the kayaks were good quality and the staff took the time to help with life jackets and helping the kids & adults into the kayaks. Overall great experience!
Very fun place! Went kayaking here for the first time and it was really fun. the guy managing the kayaks was nice and gave us some tips on how to kayak. My only complaint is that the water could be clearer. The beach was pretty clean but there were definitely bits of trash in between some of the rocks. Like metal can lids and plastic bits. The beach could benefit from someone going around and cleaning it up a tad! my husband and i found a hanger and water bottle on the beach that we tossed into one of the many trash cans around the park!
Had a great time with my family celebrating a birthday! It was nice to paddle some up the shoreline and find a beach to pull kayaks on and just swim a little while then head back! The guys were friendly and time didn’t start until we got to the water which was nice as we were running late! Want to go back soon!!!
Easy to book, and so much fun! We booked 3 doubles for my family, and had a wonderful time. You have to pay to get in the park, but it’s only $10, so we had a great day in the park then finished off the day kayaking. Would recommend!
We had a great time on our sunset kayak tour. Cameron, our tour guide, was awesome and full of energy. The view for the sunset tour was great and there was a small bonfire after so everyone could hang out.
Great place to rent paddle boards for Lake Grapevine. My wife and I had a lot of fun, and will be going again soon. Great way to have fun and social distance. It was priced at $31 for two hours of fun.
Allure Nails is the best. They are eager to do your nails and they are so kind. I have been going there since the store open. Peter is the manager and does a great job. Love this place!
Great place to rent from! They are super helpful and professional, it makes your experience that much better. My best friend and I rent kayaks and paddle board from them regularly.
Even though I had kayaked before my partner hadnt. The employee at the kiosk didnt check mine or my partners life vest for tightness, and kinda had a loose issue. Only orientation was directional assistance with paddles, so couldve used a bit more help/know-how. Nice area and lake though.
We had a blast on the lake! Rental Attendant was very informative! Great place to get out and enjoy the waters! We searched a lot of different places, traveled to three different lakes, and Lonestar Adventure Sports came in for the win!
My wife and daughter and I had a great time on the sunset tour! It was a very enjoyable group to be with. Kayaking is a great way to enjoy the lake! Lonestar worked hard to be sure we enjoyed our time with them.
The staff is very friendly and did their best to accommodate us. I booked for 9 a.m. as that time was available online. However, upon arrival at the lake, they said they don’t open until 10. Odd, but, the guy did get down to the water and get us on the lake despite the error. They need to fix that on their website. The kayaks are large and were in good shape.
Lonestar has saved our sanity during these incredibly weird times! My husband and I have been twice in the last few months, and spent a great couple of hours kayaking on Lake Grapevine! Can’t speak for tandem, but if you rent singles kayaks, it’s a great workout (if you want it to be, and we did...otherwise they’re stable enough to paddle out and just hang/have a drink). If you rent a wet bag for your phone, don’t make the rookie error of letting it rest in a pool of water like I did (they’re not aaaactually that waterproof :) ). Oh, and be sure to book ahead online if you can!! That way you won’t be at risk of having to wait now that the weather is getting warmer...can’t say enough good things about Lonestar, we’ll definitely be back (soon)!
Staff was super friendly, and dogs paddle for only 5 dollars. ( 30 lb weight limit) Located in Rockledge park, which is very well maintained and there are covered picnic tables everywhere. Great place for dates or just hanging out with friends. I proposed to my fiance here.
We had a great time kayaking! Family of 4, first time for both kids. Love being able to book online.
Horrible experience, even though we have online reservation days ahead, the guys in the office seems like they do not want to do business, they were reluctant to give us Kayaks, waited for more than an hour. Very Bad experience and disappointed for customer service.Update : Just now spoke to Peter, looks like he cares about customers, was pleasant to speak to him about what happened, he told us he will make sure wont be repeated again, thank you.
Fine times! Went here with a friend and renting was easy. Kayaking is always a really healthy and exciting way to spend the day.
I had booked for a double 2 hour kayak. I showed up and noticed it was very windy and the current wasnt stable. My boyfriend and I proceeded and went into the water anyway, we only paddled for about 2 minutes until we decided to just go back to shore because it was impossible to paddle, the winds were way too strong. We returned the equipment and the young man at the stand asked why were we back so sudden so I told him it was extremely windy to paddle. All he said was Yeah, the winds are fast today So my boyfriend and I left. I called the place some days later and told them about the experience. They gave me a rain check for what had happened but then I just claimed to get a full refund because of the first time around situation. They should keep up with the wind conditions and should reach out to people to let them know if its too windy to go out and kayak. I live an hour away from this place to just have gone and wasted my time. Although, im very disappointed for the poor experience I had with the young man at the kayak station. I shouldnt have needed to go out my own way and request a rain check or refund. He shouldve brought a solution to me and he did not. His response was very naive. He shouldve given me a solution right on the spot. Because, im going to be honest I thought I had just lost my money. I thought this place wouldnt refund. I had to dig and investigate to find out something could be done.
We reserved kayaks online a few days prior to our visit. The lake was really crowded and it seemed like there were a lot of folks waiting on kayaks. We waited about an hour and a half past our reservation time, but our daughter was swimming and happy. Its hard to complain about a wait on a pretty day during a pandemic! We have recommended friends to go check it out. We bought kayaks after the experience, so we wont need rentals anymore, but the location, kayak/paddleboard availability and ample parking was great. Thanks for a fun time paddling out on the lake!
We were able to get our kayaks as soon as we arrived and were also able to add an additional one to a group with no delay in service. The staff was courteous and attentive. Would definitely recommend them for your next kayak adventure.
Easy and delightful experience. No fuss. Had a great day! Reasonable rates and right at the lake.
This was an easy outing. I booked the kayak online and once we were there it took less then 10 before we were on the water. The staff was friendly and helpful.
We usually rent at least once every summer and go out on the lake by kayak. This summer, my son fished from his kayak. Equipment has always been in good shape and reliable! They get the kayak to the lake for you, get you on the water and pull you in when you get back. Life jackets provided. There is a reason we use Lonestar every summer.....they are great!
I loved it! This has become my new hobby (when weather permits and Im not at work). Peter is the sweetest and most understanding person. God knows how many times Ive bugged him and made changes but hes been very nice about it and flexible. Would definitely recommend 👌On another note, the kayak service is within Rockledge Park which is important to know for the following reasons.Be sure to get to the park early during the nice summer days as the park itself gets packed and they do close off if its at full capacity. So no, do not get there last minute because it will run into your wondeful kayak time. 😊Also, be aware that the park itself has a fee to go into the park $10. I dont see that being an issue personally. I didnt mind, especially if you get there early and want to hang out on the picnic tables and maybe even grill. Youre basically paying for parking and use of the park area.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviewer. The vests were pretty disgusting and smelled And you’d think due to COVID, they’d put something in place to at least spray them after use. The equipment was old and there weren’t any leashes on the paddle boards which is a safety hazard in my opinion. Additionally, the customer service was sub par. When we got there, they didn’t have any paddle boards available even though we had made a reservation. They told us to go wait for 15min and then come back. When we got back, exactly 15min later, the paddle boards had come back, but they had already sent them out with another couple!!! Like what? So they ended up going and telling two women their time was up and to get off their boards to give them to us. Which was fairly uncomfortable. I don’t blame the kids, but they needed someone out there to manage things better. This place is a far cry from DFW Surf and nearly just as expensive.
Despite making a reservation and showing up 10 minutes before as advised, the staff didnt arrive until after our reservation was supposed to start. My husband and I were also disappointed there was no mention of a $10 fee we had to pay to enter the park upon arrival, in addition to the rental fees we had already paid. The staff came across as unfriendly and the equipment was pretty run down.
Great experience! They made it easy to make a reservation! They provide a life jacket just as well! They have everything right there by the water which makes walking not a hassle. We were first timers and the guide was able to give us some great pointers before we started! I’ll definitely be back!
We had a great first-time experience and look forward to booking again!
We celebrated my sons 16th birthday at the lake and he and his 6 friends had an amazing time doing stand up paddleboard at Lonestar Adventure Sports! We will definitely do this again!!!!
VERY HELPFUL and attentive to all. Safe outing and enjoyable. So friendly -all the employees to all the participants. THANKS! We will be back.
Great way to enjoy lake grapevine. This is one of the most scenic locations of the lake. Me and my girlfriend rented a kayak for 2 and it was such a great way to get a little adventure, workout and get some girl time. So easy to do. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I love rockledge park and so glad Lonestar adventure sports is here to make it more awesome.PS: Rent the kayak around sunset, its beautiful on the water! 🙂
I rented 3 kayaks from Lonestar Adventure. I will never rent from this company again as I had a very poor experience from start to finish. Be aware, the fee to enter the parking lot is $10 per car that enters. When we arrived at the location, there was a police officer blocking our entry to the park. After calling 5-6 times over the span of 15 minutes, finally someone answered the phone to inform us to drive past the officer (even though the officer had told us we were unable to enter). After we entered the park and walked up to the employees, not a single one greeted us or even made eye contact with us. When they did decide to acknowledge we had entered, they were extremely rude and unhelpful and the FOUR of them there continued to sit and not help us get checked in. Dont worry about bringing your license and ID like their email says, because the only thing you need is your phone to complete the waiver. If you dont have your phone, you are unable to kayak because they dont offer paper versions (or warn you in advance to bring your phone to complete the waiver). The employee argued with me about what was included in the reservation (even though it clearly stated it on my email) and when we finally got to the water, they handed us life jackets and pointed at our boats. There was no additional information, help getting in the water, etc. It is amazing that with four employees sitting in lawn chairs, not a single one of them was helpful.
Went for hiking but the lake was high and the trails were flooded. The staff offered kayaking as a substitute and a voucher to come back for the hike. Worked out great since we already planned to be outdoors. This area has a lot of shoreline to explore. Just prepare to put in some work! Thanks Lonestar, looking forward to coming back to hike the trails.
We had a great time
The park was beautiful and my husband and I had an amazing time kayaking. Perfect spot for a date and lots of activities!
My family rented a kayak here and we had a great time. I went and bought myself a kayak after this fun experience. I’d suggest renting one to see how you like the experience. The people who work here were cool. Check it out.
We had lots of fun kayaking and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only downfall was that we had to wait 45 min for a kayak.
Was a great place to rent from. Down one star because when we came back and were trying to get our stuff off the boards none of the staff that was standing on the shore would help us with the boards or help turn them over. Otherwise great experience
Peter does an awesome job of connecting with his group of clients, making it fun as well as educational :) the walking tour around the lake itself is just gorgeous and appealing in its own right. . We saw egret, eagles, butterflies, and a sailboat regatta while learning about the area and some of the rocks and the like. Two thumbs up from me and my friend!!
Great service, great equipment...had a fun time paddling around the lake!!
Excellent customer Although we were not able to go out on the lake as planned, the company was quick to provide a refund to my account. I will be booking the next time I am in TX.
We enjoyed the beautiful sunset kayak tour. It’s a great date activity.
We have a blast time! Beautiful scenario and great equipment and staff.
Good customer service! Easy transition. Would do it again!
We had a safe and really fun time with the kayaks!!! We have rented 4 or 5 times and have always been happy!!
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to go into detail about my experience since there was a lot going on.I had originally booked 3 kayaks for 2 hours several weeks ago, but Lonestar Adventure Sports had to raincheck our booking due to inclement weather. I was able to rebook at my convenience using a voucher code they emailed me to use at checkout so I wasnt charged for a second booking. It was very convenient that they gave me complete control over when I rebooked as my sister had to travel in from out of town to join me and my dad, and we had to work around her work schedule. When I rebooked online, there was an issue at checkout with the code they sent me. It was being flagged as invalid no matter how I put it in (copy/paste, manually typing it in, changing the case of the letters, etc.). I tried calling to get the issue resolved, but no one answered (in their defense, I was calling on a Saturday trying to book for the next day. They were extremely busy!) I was worried Id loose the slot I was trying to get, so I went ahead an paid for it without the voucher code knowing that there was a chance I wasnt going to get my money back. But my sister was already planning to come into town for this and darn it, we were going kayaking! When we got there, parking was easy (there is a $10 parking fee, but it gives you access for the entire day and you can come and go as you please) and the place we were supposed to go to check-in and get our gear was very clear. The kayaks, life vests, and paddles were clean and in good condition, and we had a great time paddling around for 2 hours enjoying some rare family time. When I asked about the issue I had with the online code, the guy (I dont remember his name, sorry!) said that Peter would get it taken care of and gave me a description of who I was looking for. Peter had jumped in to help check people in at that point since they were slammed, but still took a second to hear my problem and assured me that I would be getting a refund within the hour, no questions asked. And sure enough, within an hour I got an email with my full refund with no fuss! I was prepared to have to argue and show proof of the issue to get any kind of refund, but they handled the situation easily and with great professionalism!Im planning on purchasing my own kayak eventually, but until then Lonestar Adventure Sports has got my business!
I went kayaking here on the Sunset tour and had an awesome time. Everyone was very friendly and the tour was a really fun experience. I’ll definitely be back again and would love to try paddle boarding too!
Awesome experience
Looking for great unforgettable time? This is definitely the right place for it. Literally everything about this place is amazing.wonderful staff. They make sure you have great time!! Thanks guys!
Guys over there, they dont care they just sitting and chilling, they dont helpful dont go over there its waste of your money
Peter is great. He emails me updated and always reminds me fun is just a trip away. You guys are great.
We have booked several times for my teenage sons birthdays. He and his friends have had great experiences here. The adults had fun as well.
The quality of the boats and SUPs were as expected and performed just fine as rentals. We were able to get there at our reserved time and were out on the water shortly after. The lower star score is due to staff issues. The two younger guys at the table were by no means going to go out of their way to smile and welcome us to their rental stand. The lifejacket hand-out didnt benefit from his presence.Once we were down to the beach, he was unenthusiastically finding SUPs and a kayak for us. Halfway through, he disappeared back up the hill, not saying anything to us indicating he was leaving or coming back. He finally got us on the water, but gave one of our group a KAYAK paddle for a SUP: not the right kind. He didnt seem to make an effort to find or to apologize for not having the right equipment. Finally, about halfway through our 2-hr rental, we came in, put on more sunscreen and drank some water. During that 10-minute break, he tried to give our paddle boards to other customers. When I said something, he unddered, Oh and proceeded to put it back and track down different equipment.Summary: theyre the only rental place in the park, reserve online ahead of time, and dont expect someone happy to see you coming.
Very fun for the summer! My family loves going !
Great place to kayak and paddle board. We will visit again very soon!
Wasn’t able to kayak but great customer service.
This place is super fun. I like the trails and the kayaking. Only thing that I dont like is that there are no clean bathrooms only portapotties. For a place that charges $10 an entry, they should at least have a clean place to use the bathroom.
We had a nice experience with Lonestar adventure sport. They had all the equipment we needed and gave us some advice before we hit the water. We did have to wait a while...probably an hour for kayaks to be available but now we know to get there early. Prices are also comparable to other kayak rentals.
We went for Labor Day weekend. I purchased online and it was smooth sailing after that. However, there were a lot of wasps. But the water was great and the scenery was even better.
Booked a kayak tour on lake grapevine through Lonestar adventure sports and had a great time. The staff was knowledgeable about the area and made the experience very fun. Would book again!
Great place on the lake to hang out, hike, swim, kayak, and paddle board! My dog loves going for swim too there! Staff is friendly and helpful!
Always super clean area and a fun place to go kayaking! Whether it be just you or a group of friends. Its my go to spot everytime i go out kayaking. Love it!
Great customer service, quality paddle boards, nice water. Fun time all around. Will definitely go again!
Even though it’s a small lake the water is wavy which Was crazy and horrible feeling. The kayaks are very weird shaped, half way thru your back will start to hurt. I have used kayak in so many locations across the globe but will never step in. On top of it I lost my phone in this water. The scenery is not great either. So I would not recommend.
Great experience! The staff is super-nice and the equipment is in great shape. A wonderful way to spend a summer day!!
Had a great time, many great swimming spots, and a even a hiking trail
Loved the experience staff were friendly and welcoming
We rented a kayak and took my 6 mo old puppy for a ride. We had a great time. The people at Lonestar were great to work with
I absolutely loved it! The ladies that greeted us were very sweet and very informative! ♥️♥️ Can’t wait to go back
Cameron Campbell was awesome guide and turor and was loads of fun!
Very friendly staff. I have rented from this company a few times, and have never had a bad experience.
I enjoyed the walking hike and learning about the lake. Peter is very knowledgeable.
