Jimmy does a complete and professional job. Hes fixed a lot of quirky things on my 200 year old grand piano. This coupled with the fact that I live out in the middle of Nowhere and pretty much play for myself and a few woodland creatures makes Jimmy service a little on the high side, but its the right thing to do for your instrument, your ear and your audience.

We moved to the area a little over three years ago, and of course our piano needed tuning after such an ordeal. After receiving a couple of recommendations one of which came from our church pianist, we contacted Lakeside Piano Service to do the job.I was immediately impressed with Mr. Espinozas friendliness and patience with me and my questions. After he tuned our little spinet, he gave his diagnosis. I appreciated his honesty in telling us what needed to be done and at the same time telling us that it wasnt worth the money we could put into it. He gave recommendations which were gratefully received.Jimmy returned to tune our spinet a number of times as we looked around for another piano. He was always happy to talk pianos--brand and type, pros and cons, and their fix-ability and his experience with them. When we finally found a possible replacement for our spinet, he advised us and, after we got it, celebrated with us. Again, he gave recommendations to bring the piano up to its best possible condition, but he also told us the fix wasnt absolutely necessary for a while and could wait until we could better afford the work.Mr. Espinoza knows pianos, is familiar with brand history, and is passionate about his job. He remembers us and our piano, is efficient and trustworthy, and gives honest assessments and reasonable recommendations. We have only been happy with the service we have received.There will come a day when we will be able to have the work done to allow our piano to be the best piano it can be, and when that day comes, we will without a doubt call Lakeside Piano Service.

He may have sterling reviews regarding piano tuning, but Jimmys conversational skills could use some real work. I called about servicing a piano for our business and getting back to a regular maintenance schedule. I asked him simply how much the service would cost and he immediately asked if I was just shopping around. As if it was completely insulting to make sure his services aligned with our budget. He then went on to say how if I wanted a cheaper service I could get one, and you get what you pay for. Pump your breaks buddy, I am aware that quality service comes with a price, one that within reason we are are happy to accommodate. What I will not tolerate is rudeness. Also, be aware that his schedule is very busy, and he will see what he can do to fit you in.

Beware. Get a written quote first! Arrogant, and unprofessional. Be ready to shell out $125 first. I live in Lowell, and have a beautiful Yamaha upright I purchased new in 1993, and havent played all that much over the past few years. I had to practice for a wedding last month and noticed she was fairly out of tune, and hadnt been tuned since 1993. I know, shame on me. I found Jimmy online with ALL these 5-star reviews so I gave him a call. When I told him it hadnt been tuned since 93 he said it would take at least 2 separate tunings to get it to hold, and that pianos should be tuned yearly. I asked how much a tuning was and he said $125, but since mine would probably take more it would be $300 for the 2 tunings. He arrives to tune the piano and upon taking the covers off he tells me the piano is in great need of major repair work and he needed remove and take the entire action home and re-adjust all the hammers to the tune of $950. He assured me a tune today would not hold, and would be a waste of time, and there was a good chance a few of the strings would break. He said I could pay him for coming and giving a quote, but to tune it would be a waste and the removal/adjustment was imperative. A quote, he told me was $125! (LOL, ironic, the same cost of a tuning)! I told him I understand, but to just tune it and Ill take my chances. He said another appointment in February would be necessary. Fine. After 20 minutes he finished tuning (no broken strings, btw) and was packing up then said the charge was $300, then the next tune would be $125. ??? I said wait, you said the 2 tunings would be $300. He said since this piano was in such a need that this one tuning was $300. Incredible. I dont know how he got so many good reviews, if these are bogus, contrived or what, but hes very arrogant and unprofessional.Word of PR/marketing advice Jimmy, before you respond with another 5 paragraph retort like you did with the other bad review you received, its not a good look, and no one will read it. Just post Im sorry you feel that way, what can I do to make it better? Im having another professional tuner come out for the next tune in February, so cancel that appointment. The piano sounds beautiful again, thank you, and the action feels fine.
