Happened to be in the area and decided to stop by, just to look around. Im not fortunate enough to own a grand piano, so Im always happy to go to a showroom and play one every so often. The gentleman that greeted us was more than happy to let me sit down at any piano i wanted to just to try it out, and the showroom was so beautiful. Ive been to other piano stores that were not so welcoming. Very glad that was NOT the case here. Would happily drive 3 hours just to visit again and purchase from them when the opportunity comes.
As a Grand Rapids Suzuki Piano teacher of 40 years, assisting students to develop their musical voice through a quality instrument is a top priority. I am so grateful for the contribution West Michigan Piano makes to our musical community. I have found them to be trustworthy, knowledgable and low pressure. As the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Suzuki Piano Director for 30 year, I regularly deal with WMP movers. I have always found the piano movers efficient, on time and careful. On a personal level, todays experience with WMP piano movers met all my expectations! Thank you, for your quality, caring service! Susan Crosser
Nice, clean store with a good selection of pianos, both new and used. Jimmy E helped me to select an exceptional grand piano in my price range, and I could not be happier. When I mailed them the check to pay off the piano, I enclosed a note asking that they call/email me to confirm that they received it. The check was deposited and money withdrawn from my account (no call/email), and when the piano was delivered, the movers presented me an invoice with the amount due (which had already been paid). I showed the movers that I had paid the amount, and they were kind enough to let it go. An interesting lapse in communication for such a substantial amount of money, but still a good experience for the most part.
Great experience at West Michigan piano. The owner Ken is an awesome guy as well as their sales team. Seth was the one that I worked with the most. The entire team is helpful and friendly. Buying a piano was all new to me and it was nice to be in a place where I could trust their recommendation. I found the price to be more than fair as well! The delivery team was top notch and careful in my home. They continue to provide great customer service even after the sale. Highly recommend.
The West Michigan Piano moving crew was friendly, courteous and VERY good, quickly moving our new-to-us Kawai piano into our home, and moving our old, hulking, 800+ pound behemoth Ivers and Pond upright to our garage. The moves were accomplished cheerfully and without damage to either the pianos or to our home. Having the right people with the right equipment was cost-effective and efficient. Give Jim a call-You wont regret it!PS-Tip the crew, these guys are hard workers! :)
The crew of 4 showed up right on time and went right to work and within no time had the piano wrapped and loaded on the truck. Once to the new location they had it up the steps and standing upright in record time. These guys know what they are doing. Ive now used West Michigan Piano 3 times and am always impressed. Thank you for taking care of The Beast.
Jeff Hall helped us find the perfect piano within our price range, taking the time to understand our needs and educate at the same time. Delivery crew was on time, courteous, careful and quick! We highly recommend West Michigan Piano.
We love the Kawai digital piano. Seth was very helpful and the delivery guys did a great job too.
Came on time, fast, careful, efficient, and courteous. Highly recommend.
Weve visited the store a number of times to check out a grand piano. The sales person Lyn was very knowledgeable and very accommodating to our needs. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome in the store, not pressured to purchase, and did everything he could to ensure that we were satisfied customers. We highly recommend this place!
Called to ask how to clean my inherited piano and ask about getting it tuned. The man I talked to wasnt very friendly. He briefly explained how to clean a piano and then said okay I need to let you go so I can take this other callI didnt even get the chance to ask about tuning. I will be taking my money somewhere where they give me the time of day.
This place is the one of the best piano stores I have been to. There is a wide selection of phenomenal-sounding pianos, from the Steinway Model D concert grand to Kawai K Series professional uprights and so many more. The staff are very knowledgeable, and the prices here are reasonable. About a year and some ago, I came through here looking for a good upright, and one of the employees helped us find one. If you are a pianist, I would highly recommend this store.
Love my new piano. Appreciated the service at the store and assurances of future service when I called with a question. The movers were great and did an outstanding job.
Had a 9am appointment to have a piano moved.Showed up at noon. Said it would take 30 minutes to load and they would call me when on their way to my house. 2pm nothing. Called both movers no answer. Called office and directed to call jim. (Its 3:30 at this point) informed me the piano would fit up stairs. it sure would’ve been nice FOR THE MOVERS TO CALL ME AND TELL ME.And not let me sit around till 3 PM waiting for them with my appointment was from 9 to 10 AM absolutely unprofessional still haven’t heard back from Jim he said he would call back once he figured out what happened I’ll tell you what happen I made the mistake of calling West Michigan piano to help meWaste my day sitting and waiting like a fool
We had a great experience at West Michigan Piano. Jeff was very knowledgeable about all the pianos and gave us his honest opinion. We appreciated that we felt no pressure to make a purchase because we wanted to make a good decision. Upon our return visit, we bought our piano from West Michigan Piano. Delivery was seamless and we love our new piano!
West Michigan Piano was hired to move a piano, but I can not recommend them for this service to anyone else. I served as the property manager for the selling party in a recent transaction of a family heirloom piano from the late 1800s. The good part: They hired Star Excavating to crane the baby grand out of the upstairs of this house and that was a great choice, I have worked with that crane crew before in moving pianos and tree trunks and they are very competent and careful. However, the bad part: When the West Michigan Piano moving team began to dismantle the piano for transport, one of the team lifted the piano by the center of the keyboard so that the gentleman under the piano could separate the legs. I rushed up and told him not to ever lift or push a piano by the keyboard and that its an easy way to damage the piano and change its sound, and that I had learned this when we had to move the Steinway at Hope College. The crew supervisor was quick to challenge me and ask Who are you!?! as he must have forgotten that I was the keyholder who just let him into the property and was representing the selling party. The rest of the move was ok and they got the job done quickly and were off to deliver it in about 30 minutes, including crane lift time. As they were preparing to depart, I approached the gentleman who had lifted the piano by the keyboard and restated what I had been taught/learned in the past and how fragile and sensitive the keyboard area is. He responded with a casual Ive never had a problem before. to which I then asked him Do you play the piano? and he answered No. At this point I didnt know what else to say so I ended the conversation. Theres nothing that I can say to him to make him care about the equipment that he is moving. Overall, I was not pleased with the level of courtesy that they showed to myself or the customer. They could have at least apologized, or have been polite when I expressed my concerns during the dismantling. I would not recommend West Michigan Piano, and I can see how and why the other recent reviewer posted that they had a broken soundboard on their newly purchased and delivered piano.
I always love just to stop in here. The people are very kind and obviously knowledgeable about all things piano. I hate to rate a place that sells pianos without having bought one, but I’ll be buying one from them when I can. You should stop in!
West Michigan Piano has always been extremely professional, kind and helpful. I called and had a technician out in two days to look at my piano. They are always prompt, reliable and helpful and I am sure you will also have a great experience. The office professionals in the store were very helpful to me and I was able to get all my questions answered. In this digital age I am finding many retailers in general may not value customer service but this is not the case with West Michigan Piano. They have excellent customer service and they make you feel you are getting personalized attention and help. Great job!
I moved my piano from Illinois to my new home in Michigan and was very pleased with the services provided. The whole crew was very polite on both sides of the move and demonstrated a real care for the instrument. I dont plan to move again soon but would highly recommend them.
After shopping for a piano as far afield as Detroit I discovered West Michigan Piano and was very impressed with their very competitive pricing and competent sales staff that provided easy to understand side by side comparisons on different models. A beautiful showroom with a great Steinway selection. The only minor issue I had was I thought they were open on Sunday and had to make two trips. All in all I highly recommend this location for anyone looking for new or even a used piano. They have a great selection .
We were looking for a piano for our church and visited a couple places. West Michigan Piano was where we ended up and that is where we will definitely go back to! Jeff and the guys were extremely friendly and helpful. They were patient and did a great job and educating me on what goes into making a great piano! We got a great deal on a used Yamaha and we will be playing it for many years to come.
These guys were recommended by my piano tuner, and they did a great job moving a baby grand from a private home to our church. They let me know when they were coming, and showed up on time. Theres a long staircase leading to the front door and they brought the instrument down those stairs with great care and skill. The piano was well-protected as it was moved, safely stowed in their truck, and delivered promptly. I highly recommend them!
Jim Jr. and his team from West Michigan Piano know how to move pianos. They moved a Story & Clarke upright from our basement, up a flight of stairs, through the house and out the door. They took good care of the piano and our house. They were on-time, courteous and professional in every way. I would absolutely recommend West Michigan Piano for anyone needing to have a piano moved.
The showroom is clean and spacious with many gorgeous instruments. The staff is always welcoming and willing to chat and show you around. They also encourage and welcome trying the instruments.
We love West MI Piano. A wonderful place to go for your piano needs or for questions!
Great staff and good prices
The staff helped us select the perfect baby grand piano for our home. The delivery and setup were completed as scheduled by movers who were very efficient and showed great care for the piano and our home. It was a great job by all!
I was shocked to be on the phone when they were quick to turn a sincere inquiry call into a sales opportunity. The man I spoke with didn’t seem to have much tact or consideration. It was also VERY insulting to hear them completely dismiss and attack antique pianos! They may have a lovely showroom and fantastic capacity to move pianos, but I would never give them my money.
We are very satisfied about our new piano and the support that we received from Mr. Nelson and Mr. Buteyn. Since our first contact by email until the deliver in our home, all West Michigan Piano staff dispensed us all possible attention. Mr. Nelson permitted we evaluate a lot of different pianos in the store. We had time and he was very patient attending our family. The business negotiation was fair for both sides, and the delivery was timely and executed with extreme care for the piano and houses floor. West Michigan Piano rocked!
I recently purchased a new piano from West Michigan Piano. The experience was exceptional beginning with initial conversations focused on the possibilities to meet my needs and dreams; progressing then to outstanding/on time delivery; and finally with my first tuning. I can highly recommend.
Thank you so much to Lyn for helping me find a beautiful piano in my price range! And the movers were absolutely terrific! My experience could not have been better. Thanks for everything!
Jake and his crew picked up our piano when they said they would... and returned it when they said they would. Prompt and courteous, they handled our piano with great care. Fun to watch these professionals at work.
In 2013 I bought a new piano and was really happy with it. Its a beautiful white Edelweiss. I had their recommended turner come for a couple years and everything seemed fine. I decided to hire a different tuner and while he was working on the piano he told me he had bad news. He told me the sound board was cracked and also that one of the legs had been broken. I got under the piano and saw a mess. How did my brand new piano have a broken leg? I contacted Lynne and after quite a wait, they finally agreed to come and pick up the piano and fix the leg and also the sound board. I believe its possible the sound board was cracked when the leg broke. They had the piano for over 4 months and after several calls, I finally got the piano back. They put spots of glue on the sound board and switched the leg from the left to the right side and supposedly repaired the leg but it is not repaired. I have not responded until now because I am working with an attorney and we will begin the process of fixing this very sad situation. I love my piano, but it was not new and is broken. DO NOT buy a piano from this store.
Had a two man team move an upright piano today. They were prompt, professional, and made it look so easy! We could not be happier with the service we received.
Amazing...I could not afford anything in the store but it was still very impressive
I have had an outstanding experience with WMP. Not only did they sell me a beautiful K.Kawai piano at a great price, but recommended an exceptional piano tuner who now comes to my home 2x a year and does it at a very fair price. They have also helped me when I needed my piano stored during home construction and also loaned me, no questions asked, a cover for my piano when I needed it for the dust during construction (prior to storing it later). They are agreeable about everything and have made things go so smoothly. These are great folks to buy from and a terrific business in West Michigan.
Zero stars. After arranging a piano pickup, they did not call with an estimate nor arrange payment. They picked up the piano and then refused to deliver it as promised. When confronted with their lack of professionalism, they said weve been in business for 30 years as if that were license to keep my piano indefinitely or have zero customer service sense. I had to schedule another pickup. Fortunately Two Men and a Truck were professional, kind, and communicated frequently. Avoid these people.
I highly recommend this company. Piano technicians at West Michigan Piano were helpful and knowledgeable during several visits to the store. As a long-time owner of a Kawai UST-7 (upright professional), I was searching for an alternative that would serve me during my retirement years when I would be relocating. The two piano technicians that assisted me with my many questions about Kawai digital pianos and about trade in possibilities. When they did not have immediate answers to questions, they were quick to find the accurate information. They were able to formulate a workable plan that included trade in, pick up, and delivery in an efficient manner that fit our budget and our time schedule.
We were there for a final rehearsal recital. They have a lot of very nice higher end pianos, and knowledgeable about any service they offered too.
They offered me 400 dollars for my Steinway grand! What a racket they have going on! I would not recommend West Michigan Piano.
Easy to work with! They did a great job moving our piano, fast and efficient!
They just moved a baby grand piano into my house, and they did it with positivety and joy. The West Mighigan Piano is the place to go for moving and purchasing a new and lovely piano!
Friendly staff and very knowledgeable. Willing to help you get set up with tunings and purchasing too.
I was in the market for a used piano. I felt completely dismissed by the staff at WMP on two separate visits. In April, I came in and browsed inventory. The gentleman who was working was familiar as he serviced my old piano once. I thought it was odd that he laughed when I asked what year the C3 I was looking at was built. I never understand why people ask about the year of a piano he said in an arrogant tone. Like I was some used car buyer. The C3 has three distinct generations actually. Never mind. I wanted to trade my old piano and he gave me a card and asked I send photos and details. I did so and never heard back. I went back to the store a few weeks later to discover the piano I had wanted had been sold. This time, I was greeted by nobody. The gentleman who was working was talking to someone and a simple welcome, I can help you in a minute would have sufficed. Instead I was ignored in the 10 minutes I wandered around. Apparently if you arent in the market for a $90k Steinway, this place could care less if you walk out. The good news for used piano buyers is there is a huge market out there outside of Grand Rapids. I just completed my purchase of a great C3 without the help of WMP.
Refreshingly laid back, knowledgeable salesmen. AND Easy to arrange, professional delivery.
Thanks for hosting Kevin Olsons seminar.
Very professional, polite and knowledgeable.
Beautiful 🎹 pianos
Professional and courteous.
Stunning Showroom!
The best.
It is of the highest quality in Michigan.
