I am a vet living in social security, when a tree hit my home and I asked for help. They promised to repair the roof. They sent out a guy with no exsperiance with the wrong roofing materials and a bucket of tar. It leaked I called for a year and they never returned to fix the problem, I wrote a review and now because of the whole in the roof . I spent all my tax money renovating the home they promised to do so I could live there like a handy cap bathroom, wheelchair accessible stairs to help get me into my house. They came in and fixed a water leak and billed me 180. Dollars they promised to be back and finish the stairs and bathroom. They never showed. I calll there they said their to busy to help out a vet. And was ordered to pay the 180 or no service will be done. I said I have no problem paying you if you come back. And they asked for all my financial information again and again and finally they said we don’t have time for us vets. Well I can honestly say shame on them and there scam for profit . Like most non profits they do nothing and collect big money . My advice, go to your local church, they will do more then these greedy people. Oh and there customer service sucks, it’s like a three ring circus. I am going to write Lansing to see if A.G. Would look into there shady practices . And the bias on who gets help or not. Trust me the real builders are building for them on there own homes. Time to close it down

I went to this organization today to see if I could get some assistance with some much needed repairs. The 2 Ladies at the front desk were no help to me one simply ignored me and the other was unfriendly and dry.I was just told I make too much money I tried to get a recommendation or something but all I got was rudeness 😔.

Im leaving only one star because of the lack of professionalism from Vita Burrell on front desk. This person seems like she is tired of working with customers and is super rude. If I come to your place to seek for help is because I really need it and at least give me some empathy dont make feel worse . She had me there waiting for two hours and every time that she asked for a paper it was like hoping for me to say sorry I dont have it. I just needed to send some papers and she pretended that I leave the office to print out/ email the papers knowing they have a computer there for customers, but not she was to comfortable sitting in her chair to help me out. There was one guy who was nice and told her to give me their wifi password so I didnt need to leave the place. I had a really bad experience with her so if you need the help please go with any of their others helpers.

Currently working on a kitchen remodel and sought of HRS for there design skills, classes and kitchen cabinets that they make in house. I like to try and support local business as much as possible when and ehrre I can. My process first started eith me stopping into HRS a while back and seeing options. I was impressed by the prices and quality that they provide. The cabinets are a solid face fram in either oak, alder, or ash and the boxes and fabricated with plyeood rather than press board or osb with is a far less supperior grade material. Once plannkng and building of the cabinets are selected they come out to measure and make a desgn for your new kitchen. Once the design is final they can begin making the cabinets. The cabinets are all made by volunteers but everything is overseen by veteran builders using jigs so the process is fairly fool proof as far as the building process goes.Due to the nature of utilizing only volunteers and not paid help there can be a bit of wait for the building process to start and finish so keep that in mind. However that is somewhat understandable as they are built by demand rather than storing anything in house. Once the cabinets are built you will have to select a countertop from a thurd party supplier which they can help with. You also need to provide the finish of your cabinets yourself. Weather you paint or stain your cabinets they allow room in their warehouse for this. This goes for the installation as well. They do not install them for you but provide you with classes on how to do them yourself along with numerous other classes on home repair improvement, i.e. tiling, drywall repair, cabinet installation, plumbing, electrical and can offer a coach to help install them if you take all the classes. You will not find anything near the quality and afforadabilty at the big box stores. I got quotes from HD, Lowes and Menards and for the same product was nearly 4-6 times more for a lesser quality item. Cutting out the middle man does not necessarily cut out time, but does cut expense. So here I sit now with my cabinets finished painted and ready to go in in the next coming weeks ahead. Ecited and hopeful for my new kitchen. It has been a long way but also being able to oversee nearly every facet of the process along the way has been nice. Also as noted before, helping a nonprofit and buying local whenever possible inside your community is a plus.
