After a google search, I discovered that the Foundry at Ferris Coffee & Nut Co. offers tours and all kinds of classes relating to the process of making coffee. The problem was none of the classes offered were available on a Thursday afternoon when my wife and I were passing through Grand Rapids. So I made a call to AJ and AJ is THE MAN. He set up a private tour and tasting session for my wife and I! It was really fun and informative. These people know coffee and are excited to share their knowledge with others. We saw the facility and how they roast their coffees. We also got to roast a small batch with their chief roaster and taste 5 different coffees. All the while I was able to ask all the questions I had in regards to home roasting and how the different varieties and regions of coffee effect taste and roast times. Never once did a staff member make me feel stupid or like a nuisance. They were friendly and seemed delighted to answer all my questions. It was a super fun tour and I would recommend any of the classes they offer. I hope to get back up there and take another one for sure! THANKS FERRIS & AJ!
Good coffee, not as hip a crowd as Lemonjellos
