Leaving a review 6 years after service. I was recommending a mechanic in the Grand Rapids area and immediately thought of my experience with Pat. Pat worked on a few of my cars in college and his professionalism and quality of work is second-to-none. After I graduated I had an interview in Chicago and had to get to in the morning. Pat stopped at a parts store before it opened, opened his shop a hour early on a Saturday, and got my car ready to roll in time for my interview. It goes without saying, his care for his clients left a lasting impression and I will always recommend him for anyone looking for repair/service in the GR area.

I had went to Ambrose to get a rebuilt Transmission put in my 06 Mountaineer and I cant say enough about Pat and the guys at Ambrose!! The work they do is great and Ive never had any issues with anything theyve done for me!! Ambrose Auto is a smaller family shop witch means the pricing is very fair and affordable!! way cheaper than the larger chain shops. Even though there a smaller shop they still do it all. For me the most important thing about Ambrose is that Pats an honest guy and hes not going to try and sell you things you dont need just to make a buck. They explain everything thats needed and really help you understand exactly what they are going to do to get your vehicle fixed and driving again! I would more than recommend Ambrose Automotive to any Friends and Family looking for a mechanic or just an Oil change!

I was truly impressed with the service here. I was told by my car dealership that multiple things were wrong with my car and needed fixed and they even so generously gave me a jaw dropping estimate for these services. Luckily I took my car into Ambrose for a second opinion and got the truth from them that half the things the dealership said were wrong with my car were in fact not in need of repair. As a young female who doesnt know much about cars, I would highly recommend Ambrose to everyone as they do not take advantage of customers. I will most definitely be returning when something actually needs repaired! That same day they were able to fit me in for a transmission flush at a VERY reasonable price.

In my opinion, this is best auto shop in all of Grand Rapids. Pat (the owner) and the staff are honest, trustworthy, and dependable. I moved to Grand Rapids and sought out a new mechanic. After trying 1 or 2 places I was lucky enough to find Ambrose Auto. My SUV was in need of a major repair and Pat was awesome at showing me all my opinions and sharing his honest opinion. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the area.

Pat is the man. He always has lower prices than other mechanics, gets it done quickly and thoroughly. With our most recent experience, rather than fixing the superficial problem we noticed that the dealership diagnosed (we were hoping itd be covered by a recall) pat diagnosed the underlying causes and saved us money by not needing to do the same repair in a months time. The best, most honest, professional mechanic Ive ever had.

Never been to a better Automotive repair! Patrick was super nice, answered my questions, and tried to give me the cheapest/best options. He explained everything to me clearly, and showed me all the parts that were replaced. My total repair cost even came out a little cheaper than what was quoted and all their prices are more than fair and possibly the cheapest Ive seen. Ill be going back there in a heart beat if anything happens to my car.

Hes not pushy about getting work done and does not pressure you to do anything, just inform you of your options and his experience.I decided to go here because it as in my neighborhood and I wanted to have a local mechanic I could trust for any needs I might have.. and hes earned my trust so far.- Hes had his shop for 6 years- Certified techs who he both knows and has worked with.- Not looking to make money on the basic routine maintenance you need (cheapest oil change in my area actually, about $23).

Wasted 2 days and they never ever looked at my car. Called just after 9am and was told to bring it in the next day. Dropped it off the night before and never heard from them. I called at 3 and again was told they would get to it before end of day. I came back at 4:50 and the car never moved, keys were still in unopened envelope. Dont waste your time here.
