Horrible emergency care after hours care we brought a dog in with a gun shot wound our neighbor shot our dog we were told several different dollar amount $1600 or $6500 was the options and anything in between could’ve ranged around that bracket of money. We were trying to ask several different technicians several doctors if we should euthanize her if the surgery was the only option we were lied to we were deceived we were told so many options for money money money that’s all this Veterinarian cares about! They do not care about animals they do not care about the best interest of the animals life the quality of life nothing! All they care about is money!!! Unfortunately they are the only emergency care vet in the whole valley and they know this! We brought a gun shot wound dog into a clinic at the minute we told him we could not afford to $6500 surgery they should have advised us to euthanize due to the suffering and sepsis of the dogs intestines leaking into her body poisoning her! This was told to us after we paid $549 fir care that was NOT given by the doctor and every technician that ran out to relay messages had nothing to do with anything with the dogs care except for money money money more money days now we have a $300 estimate now your estimate is $900 now your estimate is $1600 now your estimate is $6500 because I didn’t even realize the dogs exit wound the bullet was just chilling in her skin which bumped up yesterday as well!!!! Whatever you do keep your animals at their NORMAL VETS!!

TRUST THE POOR REVIEWS ON HERE. I would give zero stars if I could. I came from an hour away, called prior multiple times to assure there was no wait as my dog was in critical condition. I got there to be rudely told it would be 2-4 hours before my very sick dog would even be looked at. Along with the quotes changing every time we spoke. Was told 1 thing on the phone & the total opposite in person. The nurse could not have been any ruder to me when I explained my dog COULD NOT WAIT in a hot car in a nasty parking lot. I got home after receiving care elsewhere only to read the reviews on here. Wish I would have before. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The bad reviews on here bumm me out... emergency vets are supposed to be more expensive thats why they are emergency vets and open late hours. I didnt find their prices outrageous at all. People only tend to leave reviews when they have bad experiences so want to share mine. I appreciate this place so much they treated my fur baby and I so good and seemed to really care. Especially Camie. Highly recommend this place and appreciate all of them. Thank you so much!

We had taken our 10 year old border collie in last night when she suddenly fell ill, they were fast to get X rays done and kept us updated. We had to put her down due to large amounts of cancer in her lungs and they were so sweet and made sure we had everything she needed taken care of. This isn’t the first time we have used them and we will definitely go back if needed, some of the best staff care I’ve seen at midnight in both situations.

This place cares more about money than your pet. I told them I dont have enough to pay for my dogs broken paw TONIGHT but I can make payments. They said bring him in. At 11:30 PM, after bringing in my dog for an examination, I was told that he will not be treated because I dont have the full amount TONIGHT!!! I just drove from Parachute to GJ just to find out that I must drive my dogs BROKEN PAW home, untreated, because the ONLY pet hospital in 200 miles wont take payments.

This place is awesome, I am extremely thankful for them to say the least. These are the places that deserve huge community support. I had a bad experience with my local vet in glenwood springs, (Glenwood Veterinary Clinic) which is why my puppy ended up in the ER. My local vet didn’t know my puppy had bones, yet they charged me $400, and cleared us out saying my puppy was fine. The only good advice they gave me was if my puppy continued to vomit, go to a ER. After I got no help from my local vet, and my puppy still vomiting, I was already scared. But from the moment I walked into this facility, I was treated with utmost respect. The technician that greeted us listened to me and was amazing as was the rest of the staff. After my puppy was hospitalized for 8 hrs, they followed up with us the next day, and my puppy is now back to eating and sleeping. They were very clear about everything, they never beat around the bush. Do not hesitate to come here.

I would give them 10 stars if I could! We had to put our very old border collie down on Easter Sunday, and the staff was amazing. They were patient, sympathetic and understanding, and they made a horrible experience the best it could be for us. We were nervous, as Lucy had never been to any other vet other than Dr. Hoest (whom we love dearly and have been with for 30+ years), but I was impressed at how comfortable the ER staff made us all feel (especially Lucy), and they didnt make us feel rushed to say our last goodbyes to our precious family member. Thanks so much for being here for us and for working on weekends and holidays. You guys are the best!

Would give 0 stars if I could. My dad took my sisters dog in for an emergency visit. They took the dog inside after my dad filled out the paperwork in his car. About half an hour later they brought the dog back out saying they needed the room he was in and to just wait in the car. After about 45 minutes, they still hadnt came back out so my dad left, and about 10 minutes later they finally called him and he went to take the dog back. They took the dog in, said the x-rays would be about $200, my dad agreeded to the pricing, they took x rays, and about 45 minutes later the doctor called my dad to let him know what was going on, but said another person would call him back with pricing and options available for treatment. After another 15 minutes, a gal called my dad and let him know low end pricing ~400 and max would be ~500. We elected to go with the low end since we were following up with our regular vet anyways. She didnt take payment info tho. About 15 minutes later, a different gal called to take payment information and after running the payment informed my dad that she ran it for almost $700!! My dad asked what changed in the pricing from the last call he had gotten from them and she just kept ignoring the question and processed the payment anyways. When they finally brought the dog back out another 15 minutes later, my dad again tried to ask them about the vast difference in pricing between what they had originally quoted and he had agreed to and then what they had actually run the card for. She admitted to him that the gal who originally called him was new and made the mistake, but handed him the meds and a $700 bill. Normally when people admit their mistakes, they take responsibility for it. We are extremely displeased with the level of service we received at this clinic and would not recommend it to anyone else. Stay far away!

Overall the experience was great even though the circumstances that lead us to use Grand Valley were not. The inbound process was easy and not complicated even with COVID protocol. After checking in and waiting in the car for some news I decided to look at the reviews, hence why I am writing my own. I wanted to address several of the common complaints that I read.#1 pricing: I do agree it is expensive however, this is not a normal vet. This is an emergency open when your normal vet is not. I expect to pay a premium for this type of accessibility.#2 sympathy: Grand Valley does not lack sympathy. They want your pet to get better and will follow up on that. After getting treatment for our pet and bringing it home they called the next day to see how it was doing and to answer any questions we may have had. They also contacted our normal vet to update them on our pet.We appreciate Grand Valley for being there for pets during some of their worst times. We can imagine it is not the easiest at times and we thank you!

Our puppy became pretty ill late at night, his stomach was extremely bloated and he was retching, and very agitated. After googling symptoms, we realized it could potentially be a serious condition, GDV. We promptly began looking for a vet hospital. We were vacationing from out of town and found this emergency clinic. We brought him in at 11:00 at night, all staff was extremely friendly and he was promptly taken care of. He had eaten whole: a very large part of his stuffy toy. Dr. Rivera was very communicative, and gave several treatment options, and recommended what course of action to take. I’m very pleased with their service, and how well they took care of our puppy. Thank you SO much for all you did for Luffy that night, we are grateful to you.

Extremely unfortunately, my 6-month-old large breed pup was hit by a pickup truck late in the evening. I called the clinic and told them we were on our way and they said to call when we arrived. When we pulled up, the staff was waiting at the door and rushed out to grab my puppy without us even having to call. They were so kind and compassionate and responsive and they were able to save my sweet pup’s life. He is going to make a full recovery.Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the doctor who worked on my pup because I was in a state of shock through it all, but she was amazingly compassionate, competent and communicative.I did not find their prices to be unreasonable for an emergency clinic as mentioned in several reviews. I thought their prices were fair. They even started treating my pup before the paperwork was complete.I cannot even begin to express how immensely grateful I am for this clinic in saving my puppy’s life. Glad to know they’re just around the corner if - god forbid - anything else were to happen. Thank you thank you thank you for the service you offer.

Recently I have had to make a few visits due to my rescue work helping a litter of puppies. Because of the help and compassion of the staff we have been able make great strides in helping these puppies. Life did happen and it breaks my heart to say that we did lose one of the pups, but the staff was so compassionate in helping us handle the loss of the puppy. They have a great “curb side” system set up to keep clients and staff safe during these troubling times with COVID. We always have to remember that this place is an emergency center, it will carry high emotion, in both the clients and the staff much like the emergency wing of the hospital. The staff here have to experience multiple critical cases through out the day, I can’t imagine how hard that can be, I don’t know if I could do it, it takes a special kind of rescuers to do what they do.Great Job guys, stay strong!

My dog Stella has a love for socks. However, they do not love her back. She got a rather large sock stuck in her intestines. It was a Sunday and she was very sick and wouldnt have made it through the night if VEC wouldnt have done the surgery that day to remove it. The vets and staff at VEC were kind, considerate, knowledgeable and commutative. Although pricey, they made sure to communicate all cost up front. When it comes to emergency services, no matter what the issue. There will always be more of an expense. I would recommend VEC to anyone that is in an emergency situation with their fur babies.

Putting my dog down here was probably the least painful part of my experience. She was 13 years old and full of cancer. We had gone to our normal vet earlier in the day because of some symptoms and they said it was likely brain cancer. She got much worse that night and unfortunately the only place I could take her was here. I told the staff what our vet had said and what medication my dog was on. They refused to do anything unless I consented to bloodwork, even though we knew she was dying. As we had to communicate by phone, all I could hear was my dog screaming in pain in the background while the staff basically held us hostage over a couple hundred dollars worth of blood work. I finally agreed just for the sake of my poor baby. I had them just administer pain medications and prayed that shed make it through the night so we could go to our regular vet and she wouldnt have to die here. No such luck. After 2 hours she was crying in pain constantly and we had to take her back. The staff wouldnt even let us come in until she was fully sedated and probably didnt recognize us. She couldnt walk so we had transported her in on a brand new bed I had bought for her with her blanket. When we went to go pick her ashes up, I asked for her belongings. The staff member that brought her out to us just shrugged and said we dont have room to store your stuff, we probably threw it away. They had our phone number and could have called us. They easily made this incredibly painful experience at least 10 times worse. I know they probably see this stuff every day, but have a little compassion. I hope to God I never have to come back to this place.

If you are thinking of taking your pet to this “emergency clinic” this is your sign to stay away. I brought my poor cat who was attacked by two large dogs hoping they would at least help him as they were the only option in town on a Sunday. Unfortunately Grand Valley Veterinary Emergency Clinic is only about money upfront and just overall without willing to work with you regardless of the emergency. We were denied payment plans, and even though the doctor said my cat had life threatening injuries they wouldn’t treat him. This was after about a three hour wait on top of 400$ for only examining, shaving and giving him medication that barely helped. We were sent home with no help, not even a bandage. When we were leaving the receptionist told us that “We should seriously get that checked out cause it’s pretty bad” Ma’am. This is why we came here. Not to mention, they only noticed a couple of his wounds from the dog attack while there were even more large wounds I found myself at home under his unshaven fur that they completely missed and neglected to treat. He was sedated so there is no excuse for a VET to miss a wound so large that required surgery and stitches at a different and actual Veterinary clinic. It is so sad to see that many people come here trusting that their pets are in good hands and will get help but get the complete opposite all because of money. This is not a good nor safe place. Save yourself the time, money and emotional rollercoaster they cause to people searching for help for their loved ones. I recommend All Pets Center on S. 5th Street instead if you want real help.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My son and I took our beloved eight year old CFA registered JBT to this place last Sunday and asked for fluids, thats all. I had to put down $1400 just for them to look at him.Instead of giving him fluids I was told by the resident vet he needed a blood transfusion. He wasnt that bad off when we dropped him off but with advice from a breeder friend I brought him in to get some fluids to get him by until Monday when I could go to my regular vet.I told this ER vet that my regular vet said he didnt need a blood transfusion yet. She eluded to the fact my vet wasnt very good and kept insisting my JBT (Japanese Bobtail) needed a transfusion. After about an hour of discussing this with my son we reluctingly agreed to the transfusion. This decision ended up being the worst decision of my life and my sons. This kitty was my sons very best friend and his support animal as he is disabled. We left our beloved kitty there and six hours later they called saying the transfusion went fine but two hours after the transfusion he became unresponsive and could only blink. Im thinking WHAT??? We took our beautiful cat there to feel better and they KILLED him!!!They had put him in an oxygen tent and wanted us to wait 30 minutes before coming back to see if that would help but they said it didnt look good. After 30 minutes they called my son and told him we should come in because he had to be put down. My son went in the room and our poor baby was SCREAMING in pain!!! My son said his little eyes were open but he couldnt see my son. But when my son talked to him and picked him up he knew he was there. And then they put him down. My son said when he was gone he didnt want to let him go. My son came back out to the car just weeping and this has continued for days. He just wanted his baby home. This place is the WORST place to take your animal!!! I ended up paying $1200 for the worst advice ever and our beloved kitty dead.DONT TAKE ANY ANIMAL HERE! They are heartless!!!

This was a hard review to make for a few reasons. Although it isnt the employees fault I do believe the morales of this place are not where they need to be. My cat was on the brink of death due to dehydration from running away and not coming back for two days. I found him disoriented and not very responsive. He was deemed in critical condition, but they refused to work on him because of the money situation. They wanted $2,000 up front and I know no one who has that kind of money just sitting around. They basically told me that if I dont pay theyll let him die. The employees on the other hand were great. I wasnt easy to deal with and they were patient. The reason Im giving it 2 stars instead of 0 is because of the staff. Whoever owns this veterinary chain is a piece of $*** and I hope they see my review. The only reason I decided to stay was because they were the only ones open on a weekend. You wouldnt let a human die because they cant afford their care now why would you dj that to someones pet? My cat had been in my life for 13 years and they refused to help him without pay. Dont ever go here.

Took my dog in for excessive puking/ diarrhea. Pretty much right off the bat they tried to push for surgery, even though they weren’t even sure if there was a blockage. They told me it could be a blockage, or just gas, or pancreatitis they wouldn’t possibly know unless they opened him up (for $4-5k exploratory surgery). They gave conflicting statements on his condition, first saying he was doing well and then insisted he could go septic if I waited for his own vet to see him the next day. The shift change doctor was wonderful and seemed confused if surgery was on the table despite me making clear it was not.His own vet advised waiting bc she couldn’t see anything on the X-rays. We waited, left him at the er for fluids overnight. He did not need surgery and was fine by the following afternoon with just basic fluids. Overall I felt like they were trying to push unnecessary and expensive procedures on desperate people.

I get there and I ring the doorbell, as per the instructions on the door. No one comes to the door. I called and rang repeatedly for 15 minutes. There is nothing on their door indicating they are out of the office, their phones dont redirect, they didnt call back. Not sure what the point of an emergency vet hospital is if you cannot reach them in the middle of an emergency. Luckily my vet was able to take my dog and he is fine, had it been more serious the time I wasted could have made it much worse.

The off hours this clinic provided is an invaluable service.I would like to thank Maya for her kindness and compassion on both admissions. McKenna was equally kind and helpful at the time of pickup after the first admission.I feel the number of stars the facility has as a rating is a misrepresentation of the care provided.Thank You GVVEC for helping us through an extremely difficult time.

I have been to this vet several times and I’ve had several bad experiences the latest the receptionist when I called said there was nothing she could do until I had the paperwork meanwhile my dog had an 11 inch gash in her chest bleeding. Have been calling for days to get staples out and no return call

We had not lived here long enough to have an established vet but when our little dog became ill they were there for us. She was an old dog and succumbed to her age and illness. They were very conscious of my grief and even though it was Saturday and they were busy they gave me time to say goodbye to our precious little dog. I would recommend them every day of the week! Professional and sincere. Thank you so much!!

We had our two year old mini Aussie in, two different times, for GI symptoms. She hadnt eaten for four days and could not keep anything down. Both doctors, that we saw, were extremely knowledgeable, caring and thorough. They found solutions that our regular vet could not and Im convinced that they saved our dogs life. The staff was friendly, caring and understanding. For those complaining about the cost, payment, etc. This is the same at any vet youd go to. Sorry, but if youre going to have animals, plan on keeping a little back for emergencies and ESPECIALLY regular well checks. With great pets comes great responsibility!

Absolutely will not go back. The room they put us in was absolutely disgusting especially for $80 there was hair all over the room look like it hadnt been cleaned in days. They hardly even looked him over basically weighed him took his temp and gave us a quick diagnosis of kennel cough and suggested $20 cough suppressants and a ridiculously priced antibiotic when they couldnt even confirm what was wrong. Then proceeded to talk poorly about him and his name rather loud through the door to the back of the clinic. It was a very poor excuse for a vet.

I have had a few really good experiences here. My dog ate a whole can of dark chocolate cocoa, and I rushed her to my vet. The vet got her stabilized but were closing and sent me here to continue treatment. They did a great job with her and helped to save her life. It also wasnt as expensive as I was expecting.I also brought my elderly cat here when his health suddenly declined. There was nothing my primary vet or they could do except euthanize him. They were very kind and did not pressure me even though they were busy. They also sent me a condolence card a few days later and cremated his remains and gave me imprints of his pawprints. I feel like I got just as good care here as I do at my primary vet.Our last positive experience here was when we found a very old dog wandering a road. He looked hurt, so I brought him here to get him checked for a chip and for health. They were very nice and accommodating. They also let me know what happened (owner was found and dog was luckily in good health). I feel like they went the extra mile and really care about animals.Yes, emergency vet work can be expensive, but thats everywhere. I have had nothing but amazing service here.

I came in from out of town when my small dog was viciously attacked by a nearby dog. I called the emergency center and was told to come right down. My dog was treated very kindly and professionally. I was impressed with the vets and office staff especially it being a holiday weekend. My dog had to have surgery and stay the night. I had access to a vet over the phone at any time. I picked up my dog the next day and she has continued to heal well ever since.I would highly recommend this facility to any one that needs animal emergency care in this vicinity. Thank you!

We brought in our small poodle mix Opal into your facility. She was diagnosed with a severe case of UTI and was given meds for 10 days. Within a little moew than 24 hours, we observed a noticeable improvement! They even took x-rays just to be sure she didnt have stones. Their rates are very reasonable, and didnt break the bank. Many years ago we also took our labradoodle Elliot in as he had eaten a glass glove with a light string in it. There was a considerable glass shard found through the x-Ray. They assured us that he would alright, since it had already passed the sharp bend within the intestines. Both are doing very well.

I had a cat who started having blood in stools and when I took her in the staff was very caring and told me the truth as to what to expect if I wanted to try and save Midnight or have her put down. Because she was in such bad state and cancer was in her belly I said put here down it was hard but a lot better then watching my cat suffer, as there was no guarantee that even with admission and treatment she would make it. They said her chances were slim but it was up to me. Sorry to say I said put her down as I loved her but I did not want to see her suffer any more!

This place is NOT an emergency care center. I had brought my young, healthy dog in to get looked at after an hour long vomiting spell. While we were waiting to be checked in, he started vomiting in the waiting room and caught the attention of the lady at the front desk who assured he would be looked at A.S.A.P. An hour and a half later, there was little communication as to when he would be looked at. Fed up I left without anyone saying a word to me on the way out. Hours had passed, my dog seemed to be feeling better, keeping food and water down, yet not even a follow up call from the center to see if he was ok and why we had left. If this was a real emergency, I wouldnt trust them with the job.

Not pleased with the lack of compassion. My large dog started acting strange and walking funny and falling down, when I called, the receptionist didnt seem very concerned and as I was looking for advice as to whether or not to bring him in for a check up, all she could say was well if you decide to bring him in itll be 80 dollars. Obviously not concerned for my dogs well being or the fact that we were terribly concerned about what could be happening. Wont ever use this place if I dont have to. I hope I never have an emergency for my animala that requires me to come here.

I was visiting Grand junction when my dog Murphy’s face became swollen at 3am. We went to valley vet and I can’t have imagined a better outcome. Between the comprehensive veterinary care we recieved and the kindness from the staff we were pleasantly surprised we were out of town and scared and they did everything to make us feel comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. I was pleasantly surprised with the bill as well. I would’ve probably paid five times that amount for the care we got. Thank you so much for taking care of my boy Murphy and his nervous mom.

I would not recommend this place AT ALL. They are rude, they take advantage of innocent people. They are in it for themselves and they dont care about personal service, being friendly, compassionate or otherwise. They want you to hand over $600 the second you walk through that door and theyll refund the remaining money or they dont want you in their clinic. Veterinary prices are normally high because of the business itself, but it doesnt need to be over the top. I hope someone in this town opens up an AFFORDABLE emergency center with courteous doctors, professional staff, and quality medicine because you wont find it here.

On Saturday night my little dog started acting extremely hyper and panting a lot. I took her into the Veterinary Emergency Center around 5pm. They had to keep her over night but the next morning she was great. We are so lucky to have this emergency vet in Grand Junction. My little girl would not of made it through the night without them! I have to say that the vet on call was very experienced and explained everything to me. It is never easy to leave one of your babies there over night but they took great care of her. I called a couple of times before I went to bed and they were happy to keep me updated on her progress. If you have a problem with your fur baby on the weekend or after hours this is the place to go. Thank you again for taking such great care of Sammy Jo!Darshann

So thankful for this clinic! I rescued a stray in Arizona that I was very concerned about and we desperately needed her looked at before making it home all the way in Denver, they took us graciously and immediately when we arrived after midnight and were so sweet with the scared little puppy. They even went above and beyond and told us all about potential risks unique to the region of Arizona we found her in. The price was less than I expected, I would have happily paid more for the service we received. I dont know what we wouldve done without them!

Well called because our 3month old puppy was seizing up and wobbly. They would not set up a payment plan when we explained we had both been in a car accident and have had surgery so money is almost noon existent for us. Our dog had a stitch that looked like it got loose or busted a bit too soon on out trip. Instead of selling us a ton of services, the vet (Graham) cleaned up the wound and explained the process to keep it clean and keep neosporin on the wound. All covered in the $75 fee. Our dog is doing very well and is healing nicely. Thanks Graham for being awesome!

Wasnt a great experience but wasnt bad either. It was a bit of a wait to get in but not terribly bad. They will try to sell more services than you need but werent too persistent in pushing them. The most important thing was they helped out cat after an anal gland ruptured and gave clear instructions on what we had to do after they cleaned her wound. She is once again a healthy cat. We were able to go here when no other vets were open.

Honestly I have no idea what other place these people visited but it wasnt here. Called them up on a Sunday night because my dog had something lodged in his throat. We got him down there, and the doctor and nurses dropped what they were doing to help me and my dog. They kept him overnight as a precautionary measure. It was $600 for a deposit that we got back, but if you cant show up $600 for your dog, you shouldnt be owning one. 10/10 staff and location, will always go back if need be.

The only reason Im giving 1 star is because I dont have an option not to give one. My chihuahua gave birth to 6 puppies. About 10 days later one of the puppies stopped breathing and turned cold. I rushed him up to the veterinary center and was told I needed $1000 for them to attempt to save him. I didnt have the money and I didnt get approved for their care program either. They refused to set up a payment plan even with a small amount down. Instead they tried to con $75 out me to euthanize him. I refused to let them kill this puppy and left with him, with no help and no advice. I got him home and started looking things up and asking friends for ideas on how to try and save him. I ended up keeping him in the bathroom with a hot shower running for a few hours until his body temp warmed up. At this point his momma started rejected him and pushing him away so I ended up bottle feeding him goats milk every two hours like a newborn. After about 2 days momma started nursing him again and he began to thrive. Cash was born on 12/22/2016 and has been an amazing addition to our family for the past 7 months. Im so glad that I followed my instinct and didnt allow those money hungry, heartless furry baby killers take our Cash away.
