Pats does great work for a great price! All the mechanics are honest and conscientious. In my opinion Pats is the only place to go when you have an out of warranty vehicle.

I cannot say enough good things about Pat and his business. It is frustrating when mechanics take advantage of women and its such a common occurrence that it adds an extra layer of stress to car troubles. Pat has always been honest and respectful to me, never talking down to me. He explains everything clearly and goes above and beyond for his customers. His prices are incredibly reasonable and his early open time is super convenient when trying to drop off your car and work out alternative transportation.

Here is how good Pat’s is…The shop came so highly recommended from my co-workers and friends that I decided to take my car there even though I live all the way in Mt Pleasant. Trust me, it’s worth it! The guys at the shop are the most skillful, honest, and nicest mechanics you will find. They have saved me money on my car and helped me avoid costly repairs. A specific example would be when another shop told me that my power window regulator needed to be replaced. Pat’s was able to reset the mechanism and now my windows work great. This saved me on parts and labor! I will continue to take my car there for all of its service needs. If you care about your car (or your checkbook) I highly suggest you do the same!

Top notch work and service.

I have previously used Pats and been pleased with my service. However, the last time I was at the shop I asked about getting my oil changed. The guy told me bringing my own filter would make it cheaper. So when I returned back to the shop yesterday with the filter, I was told they dont do oil changes period. Not sure where the miscommunication was but Im pretty disappointed that I made a trip to buy the filters only to have to return them and take my business elsewhere.

Car wouldnt start this morning so I got it dropped off at Pats around noon since he has good reviews and is near my house. He determined the starter was bad and was able to replace it right away. Left his shop with my car at 2:30 the same day. He was friendly and price seemed fair for the job. Would definitely bring a car here again, but hopefully i dont have to haha.

Last year on my way North, my rear axle rusted through. I had the van towed to Pats because of the good reviews, and it was near my aunts house.They found a used replacement and came in at the exact estimate and had me on the road in 36 hours. Very friendly very helpful. They had heard of, but never seen what salt can do up North. They they were so impressed that they texted me a photo of the rusted through axle while they were working on it.So this year I called them about an oil change using Mobile one. Jiffy Lube gave me a price of close to $120. Pats said that if I bring in my own stuff, it would be $20. With a Mobil 1 sale at Advanced Auto Parts, its done for $55. Garages will often charge more for that. I love Pats!

Theyre much more than a break shop, the discription on Google is incorrect they are mechanics and can fix your whole car need be! Dont write them off because Google says they just do breaks. On their website they say theyre mechanics and they are.Pats Automotive gave me absolutely wonderful customer service. I dont know anything about cars, but I went in because all the dash lights came on in my 2009 Subaru Forester. They were very nice to me, really took their time trying to assess what was wrong with my car. For now all that was determined was that my air filter was very dirty. They were so kind to me and tried to explain everything in a way that made sense to me. Im so glad I went to Pats Automotive, I will be coming here for any future work that I need done. They told me to absolutely come back in if the lights come back on, or if I have any trouble. I will definitely be coming back to them for anything and I will be recommending them to anyone.Thanks for all your help guys!

I arrived unannounced around noon time today, simply wanting to know a guesstimate of how much it would cost me to have a busted main front to rear brake line repaired/replaced. Next thing I know I was handing my keys to my truck to Pat, only to be paying two hours later. The sorry and to the point sorry is this: Pat is a pull no punches dude. He gets you in and out and on your way. I now will be able to help my father move his mothers (my grandmothers) belongings, knowing I will stop and stop reliably when making the 400 mile trip to Pennsylvania this weekend. I owe Pat and Von a beer, if theyre up for it. Thanks again, you have a loyal customer for the time were stationed here. They offer a 5% discount to military as well.

I wish I could give this place negative stars. This place was recommended by someone very close to me. So, trusting their judgement i took my car here. My timing belt had shredded and I needed a new one put on. My car had been out of commission for 3 months and I was getting impatient. My brother had taken it apart, so all they needed to do was put it back together. They promised it would be done by the next day but they ended up having it for a week. Then after this week long wait, I still got charged $700. They had put my new spark plugs on and charged me 2 hours of labor.. it would’ve taken us 15 minutes to do it at home. They charged me 5 hours of labor at $100 an hour for simply putting a belt on a broken engine. There was ways to test it before doing all of this and I got ripped off. They think because I’m a female that they can rip me off.. you’re wrong. I got ripped off $700 that they did not deserve. They didn’t even put everything back together and the bolts were barely even hand tight.. I’m just another poor young girl that they ripped off for nothing. If I could take them to small claims court I would, but I’m not sure it’s worth it. Just to have the satisfaction of their wrong being right. Then my brother went in with me because they kept my coolant overflow and his box of break cleaner. They used 6 of his break cleaners that they took out of my car. Then proceeded to call my brother names. We didn’t take things further because he had a pistol on his hip. It was sketch so we left. Guess they will give guns to anyone nowadays. NOT COOL. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP TO ANYONE.

Pats is the first mechanic I tried after getting burned by dealerships in the past. Ive had nothing but pleasant experiences here. Hes honest and is patient in answering questions you may have. I would suggest just giving the shop a call with whatever problem you may be having and just see for yourself.

What was once a great shop, has gone down hill – PLEASE READ….I was a long time loyal customer, and Pat took advantage of me & lied to me….I brought my car into Pat’s to have some work done on it, including an examination of the cooling system which had been working perfectly, but I was just curious if it needed some maintenance. Previously, my cars operating temperature had never waivered even once. And for my job I spend a lot of time idling for long durations; not even in the summer did I have heating issues. Two hours after getting my car back from Pat’s the temperature gauge spiked to the max, and my head gasket blew shortly after.I told Pat I would not expect him to replace the head gasket (a $2500 job), but I asked that he would at least refund me the $700 I spent for the services I had done. This felt fair as there was no way to prove the ultimate cause, but the timing was all to coincidental. Pat understood and said he would send a check out that day. The check never came, Pat ignored two voicemails from me following up. I cent a certified letter to his shop, which USPS returned to me saying they tried on 3 separate occasions to get a signature, but that none could be obtained.Pat damaged my car, cost me thousands of dollars, and just as bad lied to me. I had a great relationship with his shop and referred numerous customers to him over the years. So if he did it to me, don’t think he wont do it to you. On a closing note, a few months before my incident, other friends I had referred to Pat’s in the past took their cars there and both had terrible experience, which they attributed to Pat’s new staff. Still, I wasn’t deterred from taking my car to Pats. I should have listened to them. Please do not make the same mistake I made of thinking that you have taken your car there for years, it wont happen to you. Well, it will. If not now, sometime in the future.

Best place to get your car fixed

We had an engine put in that we thought was recent and come to find out they bought the motor 9 years ago from the junkyard and one year later our truck is shutting off and has problems.

I live in NY and was in town visiting family when my car started having problems overheating, incidentally, the day before I was going to leave. I took it to Firestone first, and they told me it was a bad BCM (which makes NO sense). They wouldnt help me but they sent me to Pats. I got there expecting to be way overcharged and a long wait to get home. That was so NOT the case! These guys are wonderful! Incredibly nice people and down-to-Earth. They made me feel like a valued customer and didnt try to overcharge me or toy with me. They rechecked Firestones work and found that it was a fan clutch and fan speed sensor issue. They explained exactly what was wrong with my car and what it would take to fix it. Not only that, but with my car getting to them around 1pm, they had the work done by 4pm and I was able to leave on time! I would highly recommend anyone to them. I had a very pleasant experience out of what could have been a nightmare. Thank you so much for helping me!

My car wouldnt start, so I had it towed to Pats. Id already tried (unsuccessfully) jumping it and was expecting to hear that I had a bad alternator or starter. Pats called me a few houors after dropping it off and told me that it was a corroded battery cable. $60 later I was driving back home. I expect to pay that much for labor alone!Im really glad to know that I now have a local mechanic that I can trust not to rip me off.

Pats auto is the only place I will take my car in the Charleston area. Having a problematic car and highly frequent visits Pat has told me at times that a repair isnt necessary and a minor fix will resolve a problem.In a world of mechanics that are out to overcharge and tell you false problems, pats auto and his mechanics are as honest as it gets. No matter what make and model he will do you right, highly recommend under any circumstance. Pat is the man!

Starter replacement on a 2001 Sebring. Called in the evening before, got an accurate quote, he checked on the starters availability and called me back within three minutes. Also called the next morning to let me know the part was in abd everything was ready to go. Service was straight-foward, no bullshit.

My first experience with Pats was great. I called late on Thursday afternoon, spoke to Troy about what needed to be done based on an inspection from another shop, but that other shops estimate was a little too costly for me (replace 3 motor mounts on an 07 Honda Odyssey van - not overly hard, but certainly involved, and Im just not into doing things like that myself anymore). Based on the information I gave him, Troy gave me some ball-park quotes over the phone (on the high-end, thats fine, its expected to cover his bases, but still hundreds cheaper than the other shop). I took the van to him Friday mid-morning. He looked at with me in the parking lot and said really, just looking at it visually, that probably just the one main front mount needed to be replaced. I left it with him and went to work so he could diagnose it properly on one of their many lifts. He called me around 12:30pm and said he was confident just the one main mount needed to be replaced. He said the part was in stock (probably meaning Parks or AutoZone had it and they would get it once I OKd it) and the cost was going to be 1/3 of the other shops total estimate - wow! I called him back around 1:30pm, said do it, and he called me at 4:30pm the same day saying it was already done. I picked the van up Monday morning, and Troy showed me the old motor mount and how it was torn and worn out (and he even let me take it with me to show my wife how bad the damage was). Overall, I concur with the other reviews. Very down to earth guys, no BS (that I could tell), and they just fix it and give it back to you. The cost was right, they were super fast and responsive to my inquiries, and the staff was pleasant to work with. Now, it is a somewhat busy mechanic shop, so its not spick and span like a church or anything, but you can tell these guys do a lot of work based on how many cars are out front waiting to be repaired or already fixed, how many are in the lifts, and how many people are moving about. One thing that I really liked is at the end of the payment transaction Troy asked what I thought of my first experience at the shop. You know, a lot of corporate shops couldnt care less what you think, but these guys are trying to make a living and are working to earn your business. Im glad I went to them. Its hard to find a good, honest, inexpensive, thorough mechanic anymore. Based on my first trip to Pats, Ill be giving them a few more tries to find that elusive old school mechanic were all looking for. I hope this is that shop!
