After having major lower back surgery in 2013 I have dealt with the constant pain until I started working out consistently with John at Thrive Fitness. My back now rarely bothers me and I feel so much stronger. I love that he is always changing up our routines and incorporating new moves into our workouts to challenge our muscles.
Thrive Fitness is an outstanding locally owned gym. They use small group workouts that provide for both individual attention and partner accountability. Focus is on functional fitness with an emphasis on core strength and circuit based cardio. The designed 1 hour workouts allow for a good caloric burn in a efficient manner. I have been working out at Thrive for about 5 years. It is a great workout every time and I look forward to it. I have struggled with lower back pain for years but since I’ve been at Thrive it is no longer an issue and I feel stronger than I ever have. John knows his stuff and is very encouraging and supportive.
I’ve been a member of Thrive for almost 3 years. It offers a small, safe, fun environment. John always gives us an excellent workout that is personalized to our individual needs. Plus, I love my 8:30 group. They are almost like family.

John, Thrive owner, gives each of us a personal workout plan each time we are there. We work on cardio, strength, core, coordination and balance. Personally, I am in much better shape at 72 than at 65 thanks to John. We use our bodies as our machine much of the time. By having group workouts, I have also made new friends who have become like family.
John is a great trainer! His gym (Thrive) is convenient, friendly and has everything you need. Also, his workouts are creative with a lot of variety.
Ive been going to Thrive for a little over three months now. I started going after having my 4th baby and not seeing my body return to what it was pre-pregnancy as quickly as it had in the past. John, the owner, is fabulous. Ive never really worked out before or lifted weights, but the program is really easy to follow and it didnt take long for me to figure out what to do. I love that the program is customized to my goals and needs, and that I get personalized instruction when I go in. Theres only a handful of people there when I go in and its not like going to a massive gym where youre just a number. So far Ive lost about a pound per week and I feel better than Ive felt before.
This is the best place to work out in Georgetown. John the Owner and the members make the training sessions so much fun and enjoyable. The small group training sessions are customized to meet all different skill levels. I have been a member for over 3 years and it was one of the best decisions of my life. My husband and I have been members for 4 years. We workout 4 days a week but when we miss a class there is always another one we can go to at a different time. John has several classes a day to make it easy and convenient to attend. The people are great and it is fun to workout with different groups and meet new people. We also enjoy friendly competition between the classes every once and a while to keep things exciting.
Weve been going to Thrive Fitness for over 5 years and its been great for our physical and mental health. Weve made some lifelong friends that we socialize and exercise with during off times at the gym as well.
Thrive Fitness, John, and the gym mascot and everyones dear friend, Miss Stella, a rescue dog, are gifts to the Georgetown community. The gym is a gym, just like they should be. Very few machines, your body is the machine. John has kept me out of the hospital, and away from surgery, until it finally had to happen. Because of John, I recovered quickly, and he showed me how to modify (not make easy), but modify, the exercises, increase the reps, and I regained my muscles. Ive lost weight, pounds and inches, and can row, really row. The men and women at Thrive are wonderful. I feel part of an encouraging, friendly, competitive community. If you are considering a gym, some productive time with a first-rate personal-trainer, group workouts, or you think you might enjoy a comfortable place to come and play with a charming dog-friend, you should come and hang out with us. You will be made welcome. Your time will be well spent. You will never regret it.
Ive been attending 3 classes a week for a year and a half. Im down 53 lbs and I am more fit than I have been in years. Being committed to the gym has helped me stay on track w/ what I eat. The pounds are still coming off and Im getting stronger. I couldnt have done it with out John and Thrive Fitness. Thank you!
