Really great that Sundays was back to schedule for freeskatekids, we really had fun today, but even my boy won a prize, he received something didnt work at all, and fell apart as soon as he started play with it, we asked for chance give him something else, lady worked here refused it total, buy guy was pay attention, as son was very frustrated (he did his best in skating practice long time to be able win). So we looked at find something else for him and there was very limited choice of prizes, if you can call it choice at all. So we went ahead and paid for two LED sticks and squishy toy for him, gloves for my daughter. But both LED sticks fell apart just in few minutes after, and we spend quite a bit trying find all batteries from it across rink. Total understand no one want invest in toys and give them away for free, but we parents coming with kids leaving here a lot $$ every-time, so I would like have chance my kiddo get something he can use and play at least few days. Prices for things here not very cheap, so quality must be better. Another call-down rules of contests: Limbo winner yesterday touched floor, and still was awarded prize. When my daughter the one who at her age did not touch floor at all. She was very upset and came to working lady here to share her concerns, for what she got: Sorry sweetie, it happens (people cheating). Life not fair. Come on, life fair if rules are respected! If you creating contest, be enough wise to call winner the one who won, not the one who cheated. Otherwise what sense of this games? If kids would stop asking for, parents would not come to skating rink.

Very Great customer service! I ordered a pair of Skates that had sold the night before my order could process. Billy Thompson quickly emailed me and let me know what was going on and apologized for the inconvenience. He also offered me other options of skates. I had already purchased from another store so I couldn’t accept the offer. I did purchase some wheels for my new skates because he informed me about a sale that they had. Overall great experience through email and I will continue to shop with Karen’s and I live in an entire different state! 10/10 would highly recommend.

Looking for family fun out to revisit your youth? I recommend Kates! Did and drink prices are whats to be expected for this type of business. Space enough for the experience and inexperienced skater! Be ready to have fun!

Attended the last Womens Roller Derby bout of the season. Wonderfully fun-filled outing and family-friendly adventure. Seating is limited or in bleachers, but you may bring your own foldable outdoor chair. Bathrooms were clean, but some of the latches on doors need repairing. Concessions priced similar to other sporting events. Beer available! Overall, very, very exciting, and one of the most enjoyable evening in a long time. T-shirts and other team spirit items sold at reasonable prices. I bought a Roller Derby cowbell for only $5. I highly recommend attending this sport. Entrance fee for adults $10 online and $12 at the door.

Seems like the quality of service and rental products have gone down hill.Update on 1/27/2021: We had a double birthday party this evening and I am leaving it a 3 star, only for the fact the the roller blades are horribley uncomfortable and the 3 of the 4 pizzas that was ordered were not fully cooked. The hostess was super nice and helpful.

Fantastic Experience Today on November 22nd, 2020. My first time here & I really enjoyed myself. I live up near concord, so I usually attend Fryes Roller Rink, but in my opinion? Kates Roller Rink have Fryes Beat 🤣. I will definitely be back & on a Sunday at that. Sundays are really slow as far as customers. My children really enjoyed themselves. Thanks Kates for a great time & thanks for being so polite 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Honestly one of the most fun places to go as a kid and interact with other kids and have an all around good time great staff and they keep it very clean.

Very ran down, needs a lot of TLC a few coats of paint on the inside, they have broken tables with caution tape on them instead of removing them or fixing them. My pizza was under cooked, very doughy. The pretzels were good tho. The music was terrible no verity. The skates they gave my son were broken with no breaks on them and nine of the lockers worked.

My family really enjoys coming here!

Great skating rink, quite crowded though, which is good, means itll be around for some time. Decent floor, huge indoor playground for kids, snack bar and skate shop. A bit pricey compared to other rinks, was $8 for just myself, even with my own skates, but its a quality rink. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed ourselves while there. But the area where you get your skates from wasnt very nice. You can tell they didnt feel like working. But we were there with a school and if you dont want to work call out. Dont be mean to kids. Thats why they got a 3 star. Everyone else was wonderful.

Great place to be a kid even if u r adult play area an games.

Very clean, a cheap way to get out of the sun with the kids during the summer and still be active. They have a great indoor playground for the younger kids who cant skate yet so that their time is also occupied. Food is what you would expect for a skating rink/bowling alley type venue.

Took my kids about an hour and a half before closing on a Saturday, really liked this place! Friendly staff and good prices, nice large skate floor. In the little time we were there, they did several different little skating events like lights out w/glow sticks, couples, etc.. I also liked the fact that I was able to sit in a booth along the side of skating ring and was able to see all around the place, made it easier to keep and eye on my kids.

Really nice staff usually can make friends here good place to come and chill skate or play some games just wish they would extend the hours to 1 to 6 or 1 to 7 instead of 1 to 5

Paid for my 2 year old to play in the play area but they wouldnt let me go in and assist him. The rental skates are disgusting as well as everything else in the building. The teens that work there are rude. The pizza taste like card board. And the prices are outrageous.

My kids love place! The jungle gym is awesome to take a break from skating and play. The music was great they play oldies and new stuff mixed so everyone has something they like. My kids always want to go every week.

Awesome skate party at Rolling in the Carolinas in March every year. We had a great time meeting with people from all over the United States, California. Ohio, Detroit, New York. New Jersey, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Washington DC and more. Several events, bowling, dancing, vendors at the host hotel, fish fry at the White House, a good skate event. Would love to go next year. Am thinking about inviting more of my family and friends to go.

Ive always liked skating as a kid, now my kids go to the skating rink and I enjoy going with! Its good clean healthy fun for the family, gets yall away from the phones and TVs and together interacting with others and the cardio exercises dont exactly hurt anything! Two nights in a row and youll discover muscles that you never knew you had! I recommend everyone coming out and joining the fun times at Kates skating rink! Enjoyed every trip this far, many more to explore!

The best Kates yet! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The manager Mindy is very knowledgeable when it comes to repairing skates. Shes helped me with my rebuild process. The atmosphere is wonderful. The floor texture is awesome for those of you who are avid skaters like my self.

My daughters 4th bday party. (Hudson location) was horrible. I was getting charge for random kids in skate rink. They where also charging my kids that was coming to party. Our server wasnt available when needed. We were served cold pizzas. Party started at 6. We got our food a little after 7. But then they started to clean our table as we tried to eat to end the party. Also when we arrived table was already set up to eat with other people seating around from a previous party im assuming. When we went to turn skates in some of the kids were giving other peoples shoes. Very disappointed.

Had a birthday party here for 2 of my daughters. The staff was friendly and accommodating. However, the pizza dough was raw in the middle and the pitchers of soda had black specks floating in it. They were quick to replace the cups, but refilled with the wrong soda. I had to ask 3 times for the replacement pitchers and once received, the soda was mostly flat. My girls and their friends did have a fun time, but from a parents perspective it was definitely not worth $275!I would not recommend this place for a party.

Great place for a birthday party for young kids (8-12)

Place is nice. I’ve been at this location a few times. However the food SUCKS BAD. I ordered a pepperoni pizza $20 and wings $6.50. The pizza stuck to the bottom of the box and the wings were baked and DIGUSTING. I spoke with management to get a pitcher refill in place of the wings and he didn’t want to do that for me. I told him I didn’t like the wings and wanted the refill in place of the wings. He told me that his food is GOURMET and he never gets any complaints about the food and there’s nothing he could do. Needless to say I got my refill and he got his wings back.

Beware, Management does not apply the same rules to ALL skaters. The kids who seem to come here often get special treatment and don’t have to follow the safety rules. It was very frustrating to explain to my nephews why those kids weren’t following the rules. It also created an unsafe environment where my nephews felt very nervous when those kids were just chaotically skating around and sitting on the floor. When I brought this up to Management, they were rude and argumentative with me. NOT good business practice. If I hadn’t spent $45 we would have left on the spot. I WILL not return to this location.

It is the best Kates out of all of them. Its based on family is very clean and there is no roughness or any kind of trouble with any teenagers. Its a great place to take your family. I know we will continue going to this particular location.

I just want to let everyone in Charlotte, Gastonia and surrounding areas know that this skating rink was the BEST venue to celebrate my party and any party you think of having. I hosted a private event for my daughters 6th birthday party here on Sunday December 8th, 2019 and we had the best time. The manager Dan worked with me on my last minute additions to the party, including the playlist, and the staff never had my guest waiting for service or any complaints to be shared. I would recommend them for any and all kids parties and even late night adult parties! Dan we had a great time and enjoyed everything, thanks so much for a great memorable party for my daughter, friends and family. We look forward to more! Now lets see if the others can top you! Great rink floor, clean, well-lit, nice breeze from fans, friendly staff. Music was a little too loud and not to my taste, but thats the only negative. Overall, probably the nicest rink I have visited!

I had so much fun eventhough I cant skate to save my life. Theyre are many activities they have for kids. There is also like a mini arcade and a indoor playground as well. Cheap food too.

I came here to skate in the past and it was okay. Now seens like the kids it running this rink. They are all over the place. Eating on and around the skate floor. Is anyone monitoring what’s going on in here? Whatever happen to all skate the same direction? I’m superise no one has gotten hurt yet. Not to mention the music is depressing as heck. Where’s the DJ? The one on Independence is way better.

Kids got bullied by another kid . An the manager didnt care. Got into an argument with me over said bulling incident. An wouldnt do anything about it. So if you plan on staying with your child its a good place but SO NOT SEOP YOUR KIDS OFF THEY ARE. OT SAFE IF THERE ALONE!!!

I dont really know how to say anything bad about Kates Skating? If your as old as I am more than likely you grew up spending all your free time there on the weekends at Kates. Sometimes living there the entire weekend! Lol! But, we just recently had my grandsons 4th birthday party there and while Im old enough now to be fearful of falling and breaking every bone Ive got we still had a great time watching the kids and playing air hockey with my daughters mother-in-law (who whooped me)! The kids had the best time and for the price of their parties it was money well spent.

Worst skating experience of my life. It may be a fun environment for young kids but not adults that actually want to enjoy themselves. My main concern is that they didn’t even spray the skates after we returned them. We called before coming and they said that they turn the lights off, they literally waited until 5 min before close to turn the lights off. Also, the staff told us that we could make a song request but to make it appropriate for kids, came back with an appropriate song and then she claimed they couldn’t play it bc they had to have the rest of the songs timed up to close. I just don’t understand why they say one thing and do another. Overall, I wish I didn’t spend my money there.

Wouldnt take my groupon bc it wouldnt pull up on their end even though they could see the receipt. Then they charge you to come in and watch your kids skate, they continue to make announcements about not stopping on the pink wall and to get up fast when they fall but kids need that wall to help them and they are trying to get up but it isnt that easy for beginners. They have a tiny little circle for beginners and thats it. I will not be back.

I just moved to this end of town. I usually skate at Kates on 74 in Indian Trail. Went here this Saturday and it was like Chucky Cheese with roller skates.The music was horrible, no dance music, pop or even old school disco. It was like every song I never listen too, never heard of or just plain hated. There is a DJ booth, but I never saw anyone in it except to announce birthday parties. Dont count on headphones and an I pod either. Better make sure its charged before you get there. I had my I-phone plugged in an outlet. Theyre everywhere. Some dark haired young girl, a lot younger than me, in a ponytail told me I had to unplug it. I asked her why and she told me because Im the manager thats why and if I wanted to plug it in it would be a dollar. I just packed my skates and left. I could not believe I had paid money to get in here. I heard there is another Kates out this way on Franklin Blvd. One of the kids at the rink said the floor was really small and crowded though. Im gonna try it anyway. I hate to think about driving all the back out to Indian trail, I also hear there is a rink in Rock Hill but I doubt its any closer. If youre used to Kates in In Indian trail dont waste your time or money here.
