Left this place with air in my brake lines. Certified mechanics my ***! They wanted to charge $1100 for front and back break pads including labor. Im guessing that also included rotors but still over prices by like $700 to $800. If your mechanics cant safely handle a simple brake job then you probably shouldnt be in the automobile service business. If a mechanic cant change front break pads safely in 30 min or less, they probably shouldnt be mechanics. Very unsafe place, and they take care of our local police department. Pathetic.

My cars low oil light came on. I called Brets and they came and towed it away within an hour. The next morning around 10 am I received my video diagnosis, which was really helpful. The tech also pointed out visually what else needed attention on my car. I called and discussed what services I would like to be done and they had me back in my car the next afternoon. Great professional timely service, and I will definitely be going to Brets for any future car services!

I have served in the military for over 19 years and with moving close to 8 times it’s hard to find a honest mechanic. I feel like I have found a good honest one with Bret’s Autoworks. They saved me money when they recommended that I call my insurance to have them tow my car. They sent me a link and it contained a video with what they found and some recommended options. I then called to let them know what I wanted them to do. They fixed my car for an honest price I would highly recommend them in the future.

This is the first time Ive used Brets to get an oil change, they were very friendly and did the job in about 45 minutes. Was very happy with the service.

I came for change oil but they check everything and find out that something wrong with my break and other things need to be done to my car it was nice for them to do that they care for their client. Good service

Video is taken of your vehicle to show work that is to be done and any other possible problems that may need repair. Front desk will okay all repairs and give you prices of work to be done. I have never had any problems with the work or employees with Brets in Gardner.

I really liked the video inspection and the way the tech covered all his findings. The staff seemed very professional although I never had a face to face due to my schedule. The only issue I have is the pricing. I understand you get what you pay for but the labor rate is significantly greater than nearby establishments. I was charged 300$ for a diagnostic which only established a repair they needed to do to FINISH diagnosing my problem. Which by the way was for 1500 dollars including the diagnostic. The part they had priced out for 800 dollars was available from autozone for 250. I understand markup and that they need to make money. But it seems a bit excessive

Spoke with Jeff on the phone and he was able to work my car in the next day. Their certified technician Leo found our problem quickly and sent a video to our phone explaining exactly what was going on. A follow up discussion with Jeff over the phone explained our fix action options. Probably one one of the most low pressure no hassle experiences I have had with an auto mechanic business. This will be our go to auto mechanic from now on.

Ive had several experiences at Brets and theyve all been good. I love that theres a woman in the front office. Tracey provides excellent customer service. They dont oversell either. Which is nice when you only have X amount of dollars. I just purchased 2 tires. They were able to match my tires and get them on in a timely manner. Id recommend you guys to anyone!

Just had my car serviced. The team at Bret’s seemed competent and let me know that an issue I thought I had with a tail light did not need to be replaced. I was in and out relatively fast compared to the times I’ve gone through jiffy lube. Overall good experience, and now that I’m living in Gardner I will use Bret’s again.

On my way to work one snowy morning, my car spun out on the highway and slid off the road. After a quick search online I had my car towed to Bret’s. Shaken up after the whole ordeal, Bret’s was so kind and even asked me how I was doing and feeling before anything else. They took such great care of both my car and I that I will be a return customer from here on out. I can’t thank them enough for going further than just the service of my car.

We have been using Brets for a few years. They are fantastic. I have young drivers who are just learning all the ins and outs of vehicle care and maintenance and they are very patient with them and the project cars we bring in. My son has an older car that needs some TLC and he attempts some repairs himself but others require a specialized touch. Most recently, his car was dying constantly. They were very responsive and had me diagnosed and fixed within 24 hours. Friendly and professional. I hope to not have any more car problems, but if I do I would definitely go back.

They sent me a video during a oil pan gasket change just to show me the condition of the internal parts of my engine because they knew I wouldn’t be able to see it after they finished. I will take my vehicle back to Brets the next time it needs any service completed!I contacted Brets based off the recommendation of co-workers who said they had pleasant experiences here. Called and explained the issue I was having with my vehicle and was quoted a price with tax. Although the price was the same as another shop I contacted and had used previously, I went with Brets since I work in Gardner so it would be more convenient for me. Dropped my car off and was given a ride to work. A few hours later, the owner of Brets contacted me to explain, in detail, the services that had been completed along with possible recommendations. The price paid was less expensive than expected. Brets could have told me they did additional work as I gave them the authorization to do a certain amount of $ worth of services before contacting me, but they didnt get close to that amount even. They then came and picked me up.I told my husband I would absolutely take my car back if there are any other issues. As a woman, it is nice to have someone explain everything to me and not sound as though they are talking down to me. Their honesty was refreshing in this industry. I would recommend Brets to my co-workers and friends anytime!

I’ve been trusting Bret’s with my vehicles for over two years, even though for most of that time I lived out of state—I’d wait until I came home to visit to have them do repairs. First with my pickup and now with my new (used) SUV. Most recently, I went in for an oil change and was concerned because I’d seen some oil leakage in my garage. They discovered it was just a bad gasket and I was out of there with no major issues, the problem solved, and a coupon that reduced the price. Tracy is the best—she’s nice and informative and never condescending. I’m never taking my vehicle anywhere else.

So I had a motor that was experiencing a misfire I had no idea what was going on. They did properly diagnose that I was experiencing a misfire, however their solution was to replace my one bad coil and all my spark plugs, and strangely they wanted to replace all the boots on the other five coils, but then leave the old coils in place and just replace the boots all for the low low price of $870. I looked up the price for all this later and a whole pack of 6 new coils is about $60 new spark plugs are about 30 so thats either one hell of a markup or somewhere around $800 worth of Labor. I will never use them again. Im sure theyre very knowledgeable but I have no intention of paying for auto mechanic work as though I were paying for an orthodontist!

Brets always treats us right and works well with us. They also send videos of them working on your car which is cool cause 1) I don’t know anything about car so it gives me an idea as to what’s going on and 2) it hold them accountable if something does go wrong. Nothing usually goes wrong after they fix the issues but I love the confidence they have, more places need to be like brets

I’ve used Bret’s in Gardner for several vehicles for years. They are thorough, trained, and honest. Work is guaranteed. They can give you a ride if needed.

I usually avoid taking my vehicles to a service shop and tend to do most maintenance/repairs on my own. I have a 2011 Nissan Frontier that was having issues with cam position sensors. I did some research and found that many others had the same issues around the same general mileage. So I went to autozone and purchased aftermarket sensors and replaced them (fairly simple process). Soon after I was having the same issues. Went back to autozone and used the lifetime warranty to replace them again. Within a week they failed again. Since I was fighting a losing battle and reached the extent of my diagnostic knowledge, I took my truck to Brett’s. They were very professional and set up an appointment with me the next day to run a full diagnostic. They following day they sent me a video via text with a full explanation of what they found with the diagnostic. Came down to the fact that Nissan’s have troubles being compatible with aftermarket sensors. They quoted me $700 something to replace them (including the $100+ diagnostic charge). Knowing the approximate price of the factory sensors and the very little work it takes to replace them, I was a little shocked by sticker price. Then again I know that that cost also includes the expertise I needed to find out what’s wrong with my truck. PLUS, it includes a 30K mile parts and labor warranty! I did ask for a military discount to which they honored, but after thinking about the entire process and professionalism of this shop. I believe they are worth every dime! Bret’s Autoworks save the day for me! I came in from out of town only to have a belt and tensioner fail on my truck. I called Bret’s on a recommendation from a friend that lives in Gardner, I called Monday morning right as they were opening and told them what had happened, they had me drop it off and said they would do their best to get it in. To my surprise they were able to verify the problem and contacted me that afternoon with the results and provided a quote. They had to get the parts order, long story short by Tuesday morning they had called to let me know my truck was ready. Amazing customer service and very friendly and professional. I would give a 10+ rating if it was an option, I will definitely be a returning customer when I’m in need of auto repairs!

I’ve used Bret’s to help me keep my 160,000 mile Prius up and running, and they’ve always met the need. One special thing about Bret’s is the video they send me of what the mechanics find, which is often helpful in deciding what to defer and what to fix. Brought my 2005 Tahoe to replace the speedometer cluster and they did a thorough and reasonably priced replacement. They provided an estimate 2 months ago and kept to the estimate price. Ive brought my Tahoe to them for other major services and Ive been impressed with how they do a video front to back to let you know of any issues or if all looks good. I have some minor maintenance things on the list that theyll be taking care of soon as well. As for me. I plan on having them be the first that I go to for repairs. Would highly recommend them.

I took my hybrid here to have the battery checked because the battery light came on. The service writer told me that they needed to reprogram the battery and charged me over $100 to do so. He said he drove it and it was fine but less than a week later the battery light came back on so I took it back. He said it needed a new battery so one was ordered, installed and they once again charged me to reprogram the new battery. Not long after the new battery was installed the light came back on again. I called and they were booked so I took it to the dealership. The dealership said there isnt any such thing as reprogramming a battery so they charged me hundreds of dollars for a service that doesnt exist. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Use video communication to show you what they find. Make appt. Another appointment for a used car for my granddaughter. Changed oil and filter and went over entire car. Found a oil leak which they fixed. Still covid conditions, so they text or email you a video of what they find. Good folks and trustworthy.

Since it would be a few hours, Tracy drove me to the local coffee shop so Id have a comfortable place to wait and get some lunch. She called regularly with updates. I have taken my wife’s car to Brett’s twice now. I took her car there because I was referred there by multiple people, even people that know the family personally. I also heard they are very pro law enforcement which is something that is very important to me.The first time I took her car there, the service was excellent, the staff was friendly and the technicians are extremely knowledgeable.This week my wife took her vehicle back for a routine oil change. When she went to pick the vehicle up, the female working at the front desk asked if she had changed her own breaks recently. When my wife said that she hadn’t changed the breaks, the woman working the front desk became rude with her and accused her of basically lying about trying to change the vehicles brakes on her own. Needless to say, it’s that type of attitude I will not put up with, and I will seriously consider ever taking my business back there. Had the staff treated her with the same respect they treated me when I took her vehicle there, I would have provided a 5 star rating.
