I dropped my car off for AC service & I asked if it was something that I couldnt get fixed right away how much would my bill be. I was told $65. When I was called to pick my car up I was told it took a charge & everything was fine,but just incase he put dye in so he could find any leaks if it does leak out, & my bill was $100.. Long story short it did leak out I took it back & I was told it would be $635 to repair the problems. Took it to another shop for a second opinion & they said within an hour of putting the dye in you can see the leak & they also gave me a price of $300 to do the repairs. I feel that Friends Auto new it was leaking when I picked my car up & my bill shouldve been $65 not a $100

I have been going to Friends Auto since 2009, and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed....EVER. PERIOD. I remember the day when I first came. I was driving a 1999 Chevy Malibu. They kept that car running for me like no one else could. Ned (retired) and John are the best there is. They have always given me low price quotes, and if the job still required a hefty price, they would do what they could to bring the price down a little. I have referred others to this place because thats how confident I am in their services. In addition, their customer service is superior! They have always treated me and my children with the utmost respect. It is a warm atmospheric type auto repair shop, and not too long ago, they set up a coffee and cold water station for their guests. I highly recommend Friends Auto for all of your auto needs.

So i had transmission fluid leak on my 1997 geo tracker I called around and was literally told No, that my car was too old by the shops in my area. I gave friends auto a call 30 Minutes before close and he told me he’s got me bring it in . He called me back the next Business day and told me the problem and the price he gave me was awesome ! They were Very friendly and respectful ! Most importantly No transmission fluid leaks anymore ! I will be returning to get more work done on my tracker and I will always refer all my friends and family to Friends auto for any repairs !! I moved to the Garden city area about a month ago. I had always used the same place to get car repairs done, and that place is now almost an hour away. I decided to give Friends a try, and I was highly impressed. They called and kept me updated with what was wrong, and what the price would be. My car was done when they said it would be. They did an amazing job, and I will definitely be returning for all future issues with my car.

I broke my turn signal lever on my Journey I call around 2:00pm Alex told me to bring it in and maybe he would get to it today but Definitely tomorrow well he called me later on in the day around 4:00pm and told me it was done and come get it and it would be $150.00Wow 👏when I called the dealership they wanted to change me $460.00 and other places wanted 200 to 300.great places go see Alex

I have been going here for several years now, and this is hands down the best auto service shop Ive ever found! The other reviews dont lie - They have the most honest, fair prices and they work FAST! I called today to see if they even had room to take my car in, and not only did they have room, but they fixed my breaks, headlight and oil change within a matter of a few hours. Alex, the owner, was amazing and took great care of me! I recommend him and his entire staff to everyone and will continue to use them for all my car needs :D

I would definitely recommend bringing your car here. Another business was trying to over charge me for a power steering leak and this place got my car in immediately, fixed it the same day, and charged me half of what the other business was trying to charge me. They even scraped off my car and brought it up to me when I got there. Great business!

I called around 4:45pm and the shop closes at 5, requesting an overdue oil change. Alex was very kind and told me to stop by. I brought my car in just for the oil change, although Alex inspected my entire vehicle, and went above and beyond to make sure I’m driving a safe care. You can tell he really cares about his customers and takes his job seriously. In the end, just charged me for the oil change!! Auto shops like this are very hard to find, and I’m so happy I found it. Will definitely be back, and highly recommend!!!

With in moments of me pressing send i had my questions answered and was given 2 quotes.....we brought in our vehicle and low and behold they fixed the issue that day and it was wayyy cheaper than what we were quoted! August 7, 2020. Started a new auto repair relationship with Friends today thanks to ALEX! Broke up with my previous local GC auto repair shop relationship of over 20 years due to them allowing a 23yr old to work on my car just because we had the same year and model car. I was almost killed in that relationship. We are done.I dropped my car off to Alex at 8:00am gave him the short story version of the previous repairs done in May that would possibly be connected to todays repair. Let him know if he needed to keep my car overnight I was ok with that, the previous shop would keep it 3 days at a time. I was surprised when Alex called at 10:30am saying he found and fixed the problem. The alternator belt was flapping around because it was not bolted in and the bolt was gone. He fixed the belt and bolted it in correctly and it was ready for pick up. As I scrunched up my face I asked how much it was going to cost me (only because I am used to paying over and above $100-200 each time at the other place) he tells me $45 and then I screamed in his ear Are you serious!!?? (sorry Alex!)So yes, I give Friends the 5stars it allows me but really I have to say I was 100% satisfied with them and especially Alex! 10/10

This place is a 40 minute drive for me but its worth it. Had some issues with exhaust and few other little things. They do quality work and are upfront and honest. Alex always goes above and beyond to ensure a great customer experience!

Honestly this is the best place in town, I have had them help me numerous times. Friends Auto always gives me GREAT LOW prices. They explain things to me and always make sure I understand what Im paying for. I just had a rim replaced and Alex went above and beyond the call of a mechanic to get me safely back on the road. Alex took time out of his busy day to find me a used part that matched my van perfectly had had my van in the shop within a day and fixed in 30 minutes. The staff is knowledgeable, fair and friendly. This place always saves me; always willing to go above and beyond even if its not necessarily a service they typically provide. They also have the BEST referrals, Im telling you give them a visit.

I recently went to Friends Auto because I needed my power steering lines fixed/replaced. When I was calling around getting Quotes, Friends quoted me a few hundred dollars less than the other places I called and when all was said and done it was literally half what other wanted! It only took a few hours and they were super friendly there, they really live up to their name! Extremely reasonable prices and quick and friendly service, I’ll definitely be taking my car there for any other work I’ll need to have done.

Time to leave a review. My Engine light would not turn off, the dealership said they fixed it and a week later it came on again. I talked with Alex, he said bring it in. He did not have the machine to test it but said he can figure it out. He spent over an hour and told me it was the gas cap. Alex told me I can go buy a new cap and put it on myself and he would not charge me for the inspection?? I told him to order it so I could pay him something. It has been 2 months and the light has not come on! First you trust then you gain faith. I have faith in Friends Auto and will have all repairs done there. Thank you Alex!!

Hands down the most efficient (and reasonably priced) shop Ive been to. As a woman, I feel the sucker alarm goes off when I walk through the door of an auto shop. This was not the case at Friends. While visiting family i needed an alignment, balance and tire rotation. I contacted Friends and dropped my car off. Soon after they found a lower control arm was worn and needed to be replaced.They took care of the original issues and the repair quickly, and at a price which didn’t impact our vacation. After 1200 mile journey home i can say all the work was done correctly as we had zero issues!Alex was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and Courteous.I would recommend friends to locals as well as people passing through. They are fair, professional and not looking to take advantage of out of towners.

My husband and I have had the pleasure of knowing Alex, the owner of Friends Auto, for about four years now. We first met when he was working as a mechanic near our home in St. Clair Shores. When he told us he had purchased a shop of his own and would be moving to Garden City we were pretty disappointed as its at least an hour drive from us and with our crazy work schedules we knew it might be hard to get our cars out to see him. After he left we made the mistake of trying a couple different shops in our area but no one could compare to Alex or the work he does. So we did what we should have from the moment he left and made the trip to Garden City.To anyone reading this review, Alex is as decent and honest as they come. In a world where most people are just out for themselves, I promise you he isnt. Cars are absolutely this mans passion and hes incredibly good at what he does. He will never try and talk you into fixing something that isnt necessary and you will never leave his shop feeling taken advantage of. I went there he told me exactly what is wrong with my car and what is worth and not worth fixing. He did fix many things and I was surprised how reasonable his labor cost is. The Auto Tech team /Mechanics John, Ned did a great job repairing my vehicle with a front drive shaft, air conditioner condenser and front break pads on my vehicle. So this was my first time going there. I will def be back the guy at the front desk. ( I know he was probably told me his name a few times but im bad with them). Was super friendly an they only charged me what i needed an i got it back the next day which i was surprised cause normally places take forever with anything. So I will def be a return customer for anything my car will need.

I needed a window regulator replaced in my vw, Friends Auto quoted me at $200 and needed to leave my car there all day. Instead, I bought the part at O’Reillys for $70 and got it installed by a shop down the street for $40 in 30 mins. No idea why I was getting overcharged. First and last time doing business.

Women beware! Friends auto is not your friend. Went in to have my daughters car checked over for a clicking noise it was making. They told me it was the catalytic converter and wanted to charge me 700 dollars to replace it and some radiator hoses. I took their quote and went to another shop. There they took me into the work bay and showed me that the catalytic converter was fine. Turned out it was the timing belt. So either their mechanics need better training,or they were trying to rip me off. Either way not good. I would avoid this place.
