This place is the best shop in town. The only place I could take any of my vehicles to and know it will be done right. They were even able to fix other problems with my truck that another local shop broke while fixing it last time. Hands down best team.

I lucked up and had my truck towed to Dads Auto 4 years ago right after I moved to Gainesville as a college student. They treated me fair, were not over-priced, got it working quickly, and were very friendly. Ever since then, Ive had the same experience. Its like the small-town mechanic I was used to back home.

I accidentally put gas in my Diesel at BP and I was far from home. I only wanted a tow from this company but Jason the driver said that his shop could take care of it right away, quoted me a price and it was a great price which never happens in this situation. All the staff were very friendly and they got me back on the road fast.Thank you so much to all of you for everything you did for me that day, my 1100 mile trip home went flawless thanks to you!

This review is long over-due, but for anyone in the Gainesville Area (especially college students) I HIGHLY recommend Dad’s. I’ve been on 3 separate occasions, the first time because my car was overheating, the second for a window motor malfunction, and the third for a check engine light diagnostic. My first time there I brought my car in not knowing how long my car would be there, and I had class later in the day. The repair was taking some time so one of the workers gave me a ride back to campus so I could make it to class on time (like, how considerate is that??). He told me he had a daughter around my age and treated his clients like he’d want someone to treat his daughter. The prices were very reasonable (and that’s a lot coming from a college student); at the dealership I was going to be charged 600+ for parts and labor, Dad’s only charged me 200. The other visits were equally as great and the staff truly cares about its customers. It’s so comforting knowing I have a reliable mechanic for while I’m temporarily in Gainesville during these years, and I would recommend anyone looking for an honest, hardworking mechanic to visit Dad’s (not a paid advertisement haha, I just love this place!)

Huge thanks to Dads Auto Repair, Duane McMahan, Josh Martin, and Mike Martin and team for coming through once again. My water pump went out on my truck and I needed it turned around quick before the weekend. They knocked it and saved me time and money! Whether its your daily driver or your antique show car, Dads Auto is the one stop shop that will take care of your ride.

The young lady that served me was very nice, polite and friendly. 😊!The salad was lame, limp and disgusting. The chef obviously could not be bothered!!He/she just popped open a bag, threw some leaves in a bowl and didnt bother to slice anyting, it looked very unattractive!! Needless to say I wont be returning!!

I would NOT go here. They ripped me off. Story below.A friend of mine removed my power steering reservoir to access another part easier. When he put it back I noticed my power steering fluid had leaked out and there was a loud noise like air was getting into the system. I called my friend who is a few hours away and he said he forgot to put the o-ring back on the hose connected to the reservoir. I was busy all week and sent my boyfriend with my car to a local shop to have them put the o ring on since I didnt know what size or what o ring was missing. My BF brought the car to DADs AUTO and explained what our friend had said. They then told him they would need to replace the entire line next to the reservoir and since my bf doesnt know anything about cars whatsoever, agreed to the repair. The mechanic then dropped the car off to my bf. when he came to pick me up he noticed the noise was still there. When I got in the car I asked why was the noise still there if it had been fixed and how did it go from an o ring needing to be replaced to an entire line? It was the weekend and we had plans out of town so I decided we would go back to DADs the next week. I left my car parked for the couple days and when we returned... wow... all the steering fluid had leaked out again. We drove the car back to Dads and asked what they fixed because it had leaked out again so obviously the issue wasnt fixed. They said the entire pump may have to be replaced. There never was any issue with the pump or line and the directions from my friend were that it needed the o ring on the hose. This is when I took matters into my own hands and started reaching around the reservoir. I reached underneath and felt a hose. I asked what is this hose? The mechanic replied thats the return hose. I slid my hand down the hose and it was soaked with power steering fluid. I said THATS where its leaking! Showing him my grease soaked hand. He directed me to the back to wash my hands while he took a look at it. About 10 minutes later he drove my car back to the front. The sound was gone. I felt to where the hose connected underneath at the return hose and low and behold there is now a metal o ring clamp!!!! All it needed was a hose clamp which apparently was slid down on the hose and just needed to be moved up and secured. If they even looked at this hose they would have seen that was the issue. Im imagining they merely guessed what the issue could be and replaced a line that didnt need replacing. They charged my boyfriend $238 to change a line and not even fix the issue which was told to them with clear instructions. It needed an o ring on the hose connecting to the reservoir. I wish I was there from the beginning because I wouldnt have agreed to the repair but my boyfriend was only trying to help and get my wheel turning properly again. To the mechanics at dads auto... you should be ashamed of yourselves for not issuing him a refund and an apology!!!After contacting the shop and asking to speak with an owner we were dismissed. The mechanic who worked on the car couldnt tell me why the loud noise was still there after he dropped the car off and why it continued to leak if he fixed the issue. He only said it must have sprung another leak and he fixed the second leak for free and goodbye!UNREAL!I wouldnt give these people any business. Completely took advantage of and disrespected me and ripped off my boyfriend.

I just left dads auto repair, and Im so thankful for them! I got an oil change somewhere else about a week ago and shortly after my car started making some really concerning noises. I pulled in to have Dads take a look, we drove it around, they checked the engine and found that the company that changed my oil left the oil cap off and I was out of oil! They fixed it and just charged me for the new oil. they are a great group of professionals... and the oil changes there are cheaper, too! Ill be back.
