Great service great price fixed right the first time.

While they did take a little longer than expected to get my truck’s transmission done I wouldn’t complain with the work. They told me about some other potential issues that could be fixed at home and when I took my truck back today for them to see how it was holding up (they asked me to bring it back for free for them to drive to see how it’s doing) it only took about 15 minutes.They were a little slow getting it done, but for starters they seemed a bit understaffed. Price was great and they were always friendly and patient with me and my phone calls.

Wouldnt specify what was wrong with the engine. Said theyd get back to us within a week and took 2 and a half months.

I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere - Bill is either dishonest, or a bad mechanic.I brought him a newly purchased 1996 F-250 with 52,000 miles on it that would stall out in drive. He recommended a complete rebuild of the transmission. Go figure... I had called him once before in 2012, and he recommended the same thing without even needing to have a look at it.I was in a pinch, so unfortunately, I told him to go ahead with the work. He had given me a really bad feeling over the phone, so after a few days without hearing from him, I called him up to cancel the work, and to arrange for the truck to be towed to another shop. Much to my surprise, when I told him to call it off, he had JUST pulled the transmission out.Too late! Go figure...After paying his $500 bill for towing 3 miles, misdiagnosis, and removing my transmission, I had him put the extracted transmission in the truck bed, and I had it towed down the road to another shop. It felt like extortion paying $500 for a truck that was worse off than when I left it with him. Before Bill looked at it, I could have driven it away myself.Its hard to diagnose a problem when the transmission is out of the truck, so the other mechanic had a difficult problem to solve. Nevertheless, after getting everything back together, he was able to determine that the problem had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION. It was the PCM (engine / transmission computer) that had gone bad, and was causing the transmission to act up. It was a $100 part on eBay…Thanks to Bill, I wound up spending about $1,700 on a $300 to $600 job. I think Bill is dishonest, but I can’t say for sure. He bragged about his years of experience with transmissions, but I think it’s possible hes a bad mechanic. Either way, this is definitely a shop to avoid.

Mr Bills has been fixing my cars since 2009. I watched his twin boys grow up. He started with my 1998 dodge neon my 2002 Jeep Liberty and our newest edition 2012 Audi Q5. Mr Bill has always been honest from day one. Now I confess I cheated on bill just trying to support a black owned business. Let’s just say I came back home. He has always treated me with respect and works with me when I’m about to break down from the bill. He’ll tell me let’s do this and that and bring it back and we’ll do that. Now there has been times that he has told me now Roshonda you can’t drive that car like that. Mr Bill is more than my mechanic he’s family. If we pull into the drive way with my 9 year old and one of the cars are not here he’ll ask, “ mom does Mr Bill have our car?” Listen to me Mr Bill IS NOT A BAD GUY!!!!!!! HE IS ONE OF THE FEW HONEST MECHANICS THAT WE HAVE LEFT!!!!!

I don’t like giving bad reviews but Unfortunately the owner was Extremely rude, I don’t recommend going to this repair shop, the owner was very unkind to my mom and I :( They mostly fixed the problem, but were very unprofessional and the car is still not fixed properly.

People if you are looking for that honest repair shop you have always wanted I suggest you give them your business. After the dealership didnt want to warranty the alternator on a brand new car we took it here because we had spoken with George and he thought he might know a better solution. After 2 minutes of looking it over found it was just a loose ground connection and took care of it. He even helped us get the car there by using a jump box to keep the engine charged. It was only 4 miles down the road and only 2 from the dealership which told her she could pay for a tow truck. They didnt try to sell us on stuff we didnt need or lie like the dealership just to exploit a single mother.So I am writing this review so anyone that is looking for trust worthy and quality service can have the same experience we did. Go see George and he will make sure you are taken good care of!

I had my 05 pontiac gtp in his shop 2 yrs ago and only have 15,000 miles on the transmission that his team took out and rebuild and now is having problems and he doesnt want to warranty his work. Poor business man and will laugh in your face.

I called bill on Dec 7th and told him that I had brake lights on, put brake fluid in & still needed brakes fixed and he said bring the car in, there was a spot available and I brought the car in. After about 2hrs of repairs they were done. I was in vehicle ready to leave property and noticed brake lights on. They did the other 2 repairs but forgot about the brakes and when I asked bill he lied and said the guy looked around the tire area and that was it. He said I can wait or come back. I came back next day Dec 8th 8:07am and bill said mechanic was doing one car from yesterday then Im next and said Ill be taken care of soon few times during the day. I kept checking my vehicle which was still parked in lot till 12:20 pm and bill then said he had to order a part could I wait 20 min. I asked for manager and he said he was. I told him I was pist off for waiting for 4 hours before the vehicle was even brought in into the shop repair area from the parking lot. He then eventually during our confrontation admitted that he forgot the brakes yesterday in front of 2 employees and he was saying I could have waited or came back. I asked bill do you have something against me. I mentioned he put lives in danger because he made me have to leave on 7th of Dec and come back another day 8th of Dec because I wasnt sitting around after Id already sat around the 1st day for about 2 hours for them to do everything except the brakes which was the main reason I came in. After me getting upset for a while the 2 employees there witnessed everything and he finally said you know what I know what needs to be done you need a part for the break and you need a break bleed flush and It would get done free when a part comes in. Then moments later he pull the car out and call me outside and say we put the brake sensor in but we didnt do bleed brake flush because I need other stuff done with brakes and right tire brake area when bill said a different statement yesterday. The time was around 1pm on Dec 8th. Bill said, your gonna have to come another day so he knew I was leaving again no brakes. Bad service

Being someone who is bound to a wheelchair, you quickly learn that your vehicle is your main source of independence. My truck started giving me problems staying in gear so I took it over to Bills shop. George, a mechanic, was quick to help. I got to the shop before they officially opened but George was so nice to open the office doors for my daughter and I to have a place to hangout until Bill got into the shop. Being welcomed was a great feeling. Anyways, they were able to rebuild my transmission for me faster than I thought possible and for a fair price. These guys know their stuff. Thanks!

I had my truck towed to this place a few weeks ago, tow truck driver locked it up in front of me after taking pics inside and out for the insurance company, then handed me the keys which in turn i handed to the owner...2 days no news, i call ...the engine is blown he said ...ill get a diesel tech to look at it...cant fix it ok i went to get it(weekend, no one will be there i figured)....got there to find all my stereo stuff stolen and the doors locked...draw your own conclusions...now beig investigated and found 3 other thefts in 2 months under this shops care !

BUYER BEWAREI was quoted 3 business days, and $3700.00 Max for a transmission rebuild/repair on my 2013 Cadillac XTS FWD, I was traveling in Gainesville 390 miles away from home when my transmission failed, got it towed over to Bills and he seemed genuine at first so I went ahead and put $2,500.00 down to get this process started prior to him getting everything itemized out.Fast forward to now, over a week has past, I had to get transport back home because I couldn’t afford the hotels for this long of a stay during these times. He has told me several times on phone calls that it “should” be ready this day, but every time I call it’s a different excuse it seems. He said he’d call me back Wednesday (07/15/2020) afternoon, Never called, and I actually tried calling before he closed during the business hours and it went to voicemail. Today (07/16/2020), I called in the morning and he said once again they didn’t get the work done even though now they have all the parts but that he’d try to get it done today and the computer programmed and give me a call, based off Wednesday I decided to follow up around 1:30 pm, he promptly answered the phone and as soon as I said who I was he said “Oh there was a problem, let me call you back in 15 minutes”, I have yet to receive a call back, I have attempted to call them with no luck.I was referred here by the Cadillac dealership, needless to say it looked like Bill has plenty of business as it was very crowded with vehicles, mostly fleet vehicles it looked like while I was there, but if every customer was experiencing the same treatment I was I wouldn’t believe they would keep a customer base. The only reasonable conclusion is that similar to what another review said is that fleet vehicles get special priority over the individual customers.In summary, if your looking for a transmission place with relatively affordable pricing, poor communication, lack of empathy for their customers, Choose Bills.I hope I’ll get contacted about my car soon so that I can drive the 4 hours to Bills get my car and drive 4 hours back home, just to pack up my apartment and move to my new one because my lease is up and I’m lucky my landlord is giving me minor extensions due to this circumstance.UPDATE: Car developed mysterious “electrical” problem with the fuel and transmission control module, Bill said I’d be covered for warranty work but because it turned out to be an electrical issue it isn’t covered because that’s not the physical part they touched, but they did replace electronics and not put wire harnesses back in properly within the Engine afterwards. So I have no doubt that some lack of care on their end developed this intermittent issue and Bill lies to give you a false sense of security until you are without your vehicle then the pleasantries are over and the money scam begins.

I’ve had my oil changed and rotated my tires at Bill’s several times and the have always been great there! If I’ve ever had a question they have also been very helpful to answer it so I could do something myself!

I took my truck to Bills Low Cost Transmissions because my transmission wouldnt respond to the throttle. There ended up being a lot of metal flake in the transmission pan, requiring a full rebuild. It was pricey, but on par with what I would have expected from any other shop. The rebuild took two days longer than they initially thought, but Id rather have it done right than done in a hurry. So far the truck runs great. It has way more throttle response than before and the shifts are much smoother.

In recent years I have used and recommended Bills to friends and people in my church community. I am a serious hobby mechanic and I help people with car issues, particularly for my church. Bill is recommended by the best auto shop in town whom I have dealt with for over 38 years. Bill has given good advice, done good work and for a reasonable charge, except in one instance I received feedback that a friend was not pleased. I told him to work it out and they did. Honest transmission shops are a rarity and Bill is the best I know of in this area.

I have been going to Bills for a few years now, after trying numerous shops around town. They do a great job, take good care of their customers, and are reasonably priced. I brought two different cars to them that I was thinking of buying--they inspected both and warned me off from purchasing one of them. Ive only had good experiences with these guys. My only complaint is that their timeliness with customer service (returning phone calls, etc.) can sometimes be a little lacking, but I suspect thats because theyre always very busy--a good sign that Im not the only person in town who appreciates them. Excellent service. Bill is honest and extremely helpful. The work was done well and we are pleased with everything.Update 12/1 - still happy with the repair but had a problem. Jiffy Lube said that there were some hoses which were not in the proper place. Went back to Bills and asked them to take a look. Bill said it would be an hour before they could look at it. We waited. After an hour I asked how much longer and was told just another 30 minutes. After an additional 30 minutes my keys had not moved off the counter so I said that we were leaving. The person managing said, Ok, and offered no apology.

Mom took her Honda to them for all cylinder misfire that 2 other mechanics, and not even the dealer could fix, but they got it the first time. She also had a transmission replaced here about 2 years ago, and it still hasnt had a single issue. Highly recommend.

Dropped my car at Bills Low Cost Transmissions Tuesday morning, was told Id get a call later that day to find out diagnosis. I called EVERY DAY for remainder of week for info and was told same thing, they looked at it but didnt know what problem was (doesnt make them look like their competent) and that they would call me the next day, which they never did. So I decided to pick my car up and take somewhere else. Apparently all they did was look at the car, because it was in the same parking spot, parked the same way I left it earlier that week. Just be honest with customers, I would totally understand if they said they have a lot of cars to get to.

Customer service was good, I’m just not sure if I needed what was recommends but that could also be from me not being a mechanic and having to trust them. They did fix what was wrong w the car. There was a noise coming from my wheel.

You guys took great care of me, when I had a major repair and wasnt exactly ready for it. My experience was awful. Tom the mechanic is obviously tired of doing his job. He did a really lazy and sloppy job on my car. The owner was very unprofessional and was more concerned about money instead of doing a good job.

I moved to Gainesvillle on the 1st of August and my car was having trouble changing gears. I brought it to Petes Auto Shop, but Bills was a better price. It has been over 3 weeks, they told me my car would be done last Friday. Now, 5 days later and the car still isnt ready! They keep saying the part hasnt came in but it has been over 3 weeks. They have told me to pick it up at noon the last 3 days but keep putting it off. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

My daughters transmission was out and we couldnt find anyone reputable that had the skills to do the job right.I asked a small crowd of older mechanically inclined men at the local store for someone that could do this 100% right. One older mechanic said if we didnt use Bill,,,it was our fault when it wasnt right.I called Bill and the same day he sent a tow truck and picked it up. Hes been actively working on this the whole week and its pretty busy around there. Today is the 5th day and it should be ready. If not, Monday. Thats pretty amazing. Everyone else was 2 weeks minimum.Also, this transmission had been attempted to be taken out by an idiot claiming to be a mechanic but really was a tree guy, so most parts were in the back seat. Its hard to go behind a dumba$$ on a car. This transmission shop has high standards because they give an excellent warranty that lets you know they fixed it!Pretty happy with the way it went. Terrible service all they want to do is steal your money a family member recommended I go there for service on my Cadillac Deville northstar I was told I needed a new engine so I paid the price of a new engine still didnt fix the problem of my car had them do my A/C and was told the price would be only 800$ I ended up paying 1600 $ I would never recomend anybody to take their car there not even for a simple oil change this is the worst mechanic shop in Gainesville fl so if you are reading this.Take your car somewhere else!! I Wish i would have never taken my car there!

Unimaginably BAD experience. I generally do not write bad reviews of companies, but this has been the worst experience of my life. I was heading to Tampa, FL from the Atlanta, GA area a few weeks ago and as I was getting off in Gainesville to get gas the check engine light comes on and the car starts shaking and all sorts of stuff. I pull into a service station and they tell me it is my engine. I call AAA and they give me Bills as an approved vendor. I was told that my car would be ready on Tuesday. When I called on Tuesday heading back to the Atlanta area the motor had not arrived yet. I was told that they would cover the extra days on the rental car and that my car would be brought to me in GA. Well, none of the above happened. I called and spoke with Bill, the owner about the situation explaining what Jessie (store clerk) had done in not bringing me my car and he pretty much called me a liar. Jessie had told him he tried to meet me and had driven to Valdosta and I would not meet him. Then when he checked his facts and saw that there were only 3 miles put on my car since the test drive he realized that Jessie had lied. So I drove down and got my car and less than three weeks later the engine has low compression and thus will not start. I am supposed to have a nationwide warranty, but the warranty company says that they do not cover the work I had done on my car at Bill’s low cost transmission. So I am in Atlanta and I have no car because of all of this. SO I am stuck without my SUV. I am still waiting for them to get back to me with what they will be doing, but with what I have experienced thus far I am not hopeful. God does not like ugly and we all eventually reap what we sow.

If you want to get robbed go there. Went in for a timing belt. Truck ran great prior to this. Got nickled and dimed for other repairs total cost $3,317.81. Less than a week later truck ran hot. They had no delay in cashing the check. Warning! Find somewhere else to have you vehicles taken .

My friends car broke down in the middle of nowhere. She was desperate & Bill knew it. Had her car for a month, the price kept rising. Was almost impossible to get him to release her car even when paid. The price she was quoted days before went up $1000 overnight even though no additional work was done. Conman & a crook. Stay away from him at all cost.

Brought my car here because I was getting a loud noise from what I assumed was an exhaust leak. They told me my entire exhaust system needed to be replaced and quoted me at around $1700 plus labor. I knew this sounded like a high price for an exhaust, so I called Midas to get a quote on an exhaust system for my car. The quote was around $1200 with labor for stock parts.When I brought my car to Midas, they told me it was not necessary for an exhaust replacement and they were able to seal the leak in the portion of exhaust for just $300. Its been about 6 months and Ive yet to have a problem with the rest of the exhaust.I dont like to write negative views for places, but I know how difficult it can be to find places to trust to work on your car. The people at this place were either incompetent for not knowing how to fix something for a fraction of the cost, or dishonest for lying about the issue. Either way, I will not bring my car to this place again.

Told me I needed the transmission rebuilt for $2800. Took it somewhere else and they swapped the solenoid for $800. Not an honest shop.

If there could be a negative 1 I would use it. THIS PLACE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST! I was billed over $4000 for transmission repair after my car was left there for over 3 months. I get my car back finally and not even 3 days later its having the same issues it had when I first brought it in. It wont shift, and is basically undrivable. And to make matters worse, they didnt eveb put all the covers back on the wires around the engine! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE BRING THERE CAR HERE!! I heard mixed reviews about this place from some, which is why I decided* to give it a shot. NEVER AGAIN!!

George went out of his way to diagnose our problem with our car. After taking the car to two dealerships that could not figure out the problem, and told me they thought it was the transmission, bills discovered otherwise. Bills did not want to charge me for repairs that I did not need. It turned out to be an electrical problem not related to the transmission at all. I fully recommend Bills.

Had a tranny built just for my truck told them how big the truck is what I do with it etc not even 5000 miles on the tranny and it already lost reverse and is slipping called to see what they were gonna do about it and they arent going to warranty it because the truck is to big when I clearly stated the trucks height and power before they built it. Tranny has never been right since it was installed. Have a written receipt stating the warranty. Do not waste your time with these idiots who think they can build transmissions.

Didnt fix the problem and overcharged me

Horrible experience...I had my truck towed up there to have a transfer case put in. They installed it all wrong told me they had one that would work then charged me 300 extra dollars to change parts on it. They also stold a nice expensive tow rope out of my tool box. Will never be back again. Dont recommend to anyone.

My work van would not go into reverse and was having trouble going in forward. I was looking for a transmission shop and saw Bills low cost, 1800 block of N. main street. I stopped, talked to Bill, told him I needed my work van transmission fixed as soon as possible. Bill told me they would rebuild my tranny and guarantee it for a year and have it done in two days. I own WW Rooter Plumbing Drain and Sewer cleaning and told him that sounded great, although I didnt think they would have it fixed that quick and for the price he quoted.I was shocked when he called me one and a half days later and told me it was fixed and the cost was less than he quoted me.I would highly recommend Bills low cost transmission and auto repair. This place is a horrible place to go to!! We was there on vacation and this guy really just took us. We were told one price and when we went to pick it up he charged us$500.00 more than what he quoted us and we told him how can you charge someone that much more and not talk to them first he then says he tried to call but that was a lie and he got mad and told my boyfriend to quit quakering at the mouth. really who says that to a customer who is not happy. he is a very rude man. so i get back to ohio a month later to find that my car is leaking transmission fluid after they just rebuilt my transmission because his guys suck at what they are doing. it was leaking before we took it off the parking lot and we told them that and the guy said its what got spilt. They told me I could take it to any place that takes aaa so i did only to be charged 101.63 after paying over 2 grand to fix the transmission. Also when I called him he tried to tell me my boyfriend called him about 3 weeks prior to me calling and told him that it was leaking somewhere else which was another lie. So people be advised that this guy the manger(Bill) is not a good person at all. He will take you for your money and you will still have the problem you have before you took it in.
