One of my favorite mentors went through the Power of Self program when she was 50 and a senior executive at Texas Instruments, and told me it was a powerful, life-changing, leadership-enhancing experience. She recommended I go through it when I was 39 and working in the nonprofit sector. I graduated from the program when I was 40, and it was as equally relevant and powerful to me as she had described, though our ages and career paths were different, and as similarly powerful as it was Thear Suzuki, who went through the program at 27, much earlier in her career. It is a rare program that can meet so many people exactly where they are, and further develop them into the next-level leadership version of themselves that they are meant to be.From the program I learned how to employ techniques to expand my perspectives on things, admit what I dont know, and increase my overall empathy for others and their own personal wrestlings in the workplace. I also learned techniques for maintaining more awareness of how I show up in the world, things to consider related to how I can be perceived by others, and tools for better managing myself as a leader.I would not be who I am today without the program, and I am thankful that the offerings continue today to equip leaders young and old to become better leaders each and every day, from each persons own personal circle of influence and control. Marsha is an excellent teacher and coach and has made a profound and measurable impact on my life and my organization.
