Deplorable. Absolutely repulsive. This whole thing is run TERRIBLY. I can’t even begin to put in to words how horrifying this is. This is my third year at this auction and the only reason I keep coming back is to see if, by chance, conditions have chanted for the better. Animals are kept in whatever can contain them for the least amount of money; trash cans, twisted wire, laundry baskets, etc. Yes, there are exotics that are sold at this auction. But animals are too thin, sick, and actively dying before your eyes. Chickens are packed into crates and containers so small they can’t even turn around, and thus get trampled, torn to shreds, and killed. If you try to tell an employee that birds are eating one another to death in their cages, their response is “are you the owner? If not, we can’t do anything about it.” They say all animals are health checked, but this is a BLATANT LIE, or else the vet who is doing this exams needs a serious evaluation. Birds come in with gaping, open wounds, littered with mites, and respiratory infections.Hoof stock come in with obvious untreated disorders, are packed into stalls with no feed, no water, and with other livestock that are not compatible. Actually, NONE of the animals have water, and most do not have food. The animals are left like this for 48 hours. If you do not believe this, PLEASE, go visit. Spread the word. This is cruelty that is being allowed right in front of our faces.I can’t believe this is still allowed to happen, multiple times a year. I will keep fighting for this to be changed or shut down. Nelson Auctions, you should be ashamed.
Animals horrific conditions. Mislabeled chickens, no water for many animals. Very sad.
Nice place
