Overpriced, Unimpressive. Pay for your child to do their work.I was excited to send my kids to Summer Camp at Creekside. I mean, the great outdoors, time spent on horseback, whats not to like about it!?The reality, sadly, was an unimpressive, unkempt barn/stable. The riding area was tiny. The plan for the day was essentially: Tend to the horses in the morning, saddle up the horses, ride for a very brief period, tend to the horses again, do whatever cleaning they required, craft time (not horse related at all), go home. There were a handful of volunteer high school age children who helped supervise all the work. The riding was such a short part of the day that I honestly dont know why they bothered, other than to say the kids got to ride a horse. Why am I paying them to have my child be free labor? I get teaching the kids about horse tack, caring for horses, and the like. But this went far beyond that, all my kids spent a significant amount of time hauling straw, shoveling manure, grooming horses, cleaning tack. There was so much of that involved, it left little time for anything else. When I pay for my child to go to camp, I expect that the facility will use that money to take care of the business needs--not my children!

Me and my sister (15 and 16) have only ever ridden once years ago. We came here and were treated respectfully, the owner is very kind and knowledgeable. All of the horses are well mannered and taken care of, but do not expect to just sit in the saddle. This is a learning experience, your horse may pull, but you are given instructions before the trail ride on how to gently correct your horse. You have to be able to control your horse to some small degree, though your horse will know what it is doing. Very fun, and a very good way to spend some of your time.

We had a great time visiting this farm! We did the 2 pm trail ride on a Saturday, our group consisted of 8 people and the horses were very well mannered. Being a beginner I wasn’t sure what to expect however the staff was very friendly and informative. The trail itself was very beautiful! It went through the woods and through a creek. Highly recommend this place!!

Boring! Boring! Boring! Took the family here for a fun outdoor activity. Was a very underwhelming experience as the 45 min ride consisted of going in circles at a snails pace on a small rundown property. When you pay $160 for a family of 4 you expect to ride for a full 60 min and experience more exciting terrain with different elevations and a view (we are in Tennessee for hell’s sake). Would recommend checking out other nearby horseback riding experiences before wasting your money here.

Very nice owner but the workers were disorganized. the signing papers were wet and crinkled. We paid $80 for an hour ride and they took 20 minutes to get us the paper and helmets then a 20 ish minute ride.that is ridiculous and not fair. My mom hit her leg on a tree and our guide was not sympathetic at all but the person in the go cart helped after my mom asked. We did NOT get our money’s worth.

I took my daughter for a lesson here. The teaching methods are very poor. She was taught to hold the reins so tight the horses looked rather uncomfortable. Also they taught my daughter to hold onto the saddle for support, which caused her to loose control of her horse and posture. The riding instructor did not do a good job in correcting this. The facility is also very wet. The horses are standing in paddocks filled with water. The horses themselves are one of the only good things we experienced. The horse my daughter was on was very calm and well mannered. Overall I would not recommend taking beginner lessons here.

My husband booked a ride with the owner and she was VERY nice, understanding, and helpful. The horses are beautiful and well-fed. However, I wouldn’t recommend going here for a trail ride experience. The hour trail ride consisted of slowly walking a wooded loop next to the pasture a few times with one pass in the creek. During our ride, loud teenage girls were riding around us “helping guide” on a golf cart. When my husband called for booking, he explained that he was very much a beginner but I was not and he was told that I would be able to trot/canter during the ride and so would he if he felt comfortable, however we only trotted less than a minute.

Wow just wow! We came here as a group of 8 from the city. Many of us have never ridden horses so this was our first time. Just amazing experience, the ladies attending us were SO knowledgeable, and made us feel 100% safe. These were the sweetest horses ever. By far such a relaxing experience (and fun, very fun) .Although the day was cloudy (we went in mid December), it was absolutely perfect and worth every penny (great prices). Lastly, Chris accommodated our group and was very attentive in regards to the saddles and on wether it fit us or not. This was one of the highlights of our first trip to TN !

My family stopped here to break up a long road trip, and it was well worth it. None of us had ridden before. For $40 pp we got a 90 minute experience including basic instruction, an hour-long ride, a family photo-op, and time to interact with the animals. We had several guides on foot along on the trail, who stayed close to the younger children. We took the horses on trails through the woods and through a stream, which was beautiful and adventurous, but felt safe. We repeated that loop twice. The owner said normally the trail goes up a nearby hill, but are temporarily omitting that part until the horses acclimate to their new burro neighbors. We really appreciated that that this felt like a friendly local business promoting a love of horses, and not a tourist trap with hidden fees and a bunch of plastic trinkets to tempt the kids. A++++

I really, really wanted to like this place. It’s only 10 minutes from our new house in Thompson’s Station, TN. My 8-year old daughter has been taking horseback riding lessons for a year where we are from over in the Mt. Juliet area, and we found this place online, saw all the great reviews, and came in for a lesson. The farm is beautiful. Lots of beautiful horses, lots of land, etc. The main lady in charge (I assume the owner) is very nice and very knowledgeable. However, the issue here is supervision. As a 15-year teacher, I can tell you that these kids were simply not well-supervised, especially when you are talking about animals that outweigh them by hundreds of pounds and which can be unpredictable at times. Our daughter was in a lesson taught by a girl who at very best was 18 years old, and who I suspect was more along the lines of 15 or 16. This girl was teaching both my daughter and another girl at the same time, both on different horses. Because of this, it was pretty impossible for her to see what was going on with both of the students at any given time unless the two horses were together (they often weren’t together, and she often had her back to my daughter). This became obvious when my daughter’s horse just walked off on its own, around the fence and pulling my daughter through a bunch of tree limbs. Even when the girl saw this happening, she did not immediately run the 75 feet (why was she ever this far away in the first place?) or so to get to my daughter… she at first walked, then finally ran over to get the horse and bring it back into the main arena. Why they have gaps in their fences with no gates I do not understand, but it’s definitely a problem, because this horse could literally have taken off running down that fence beside the woods, and no one would have been able to stop it.Did the owner see any of this happen? No, because she was otherwise occupied. There were also summer camps going on, all of which again were taught by girls younger than 18, and not supervised by any adult. There was one group of small children out there in the arena where my daughter was having her lesson, and they weren’t separated from the horses by any fence or anything. At one point, my daughter’s horse again decided it was again going to do whatever it wanted, and it headed over toward the children, in the process dragging my daughter through another tree. This endangered both my daughter and the group of children. Of course, I’m sure it was unlikely that the horse would have decided to just start running through that group of children, but I grew up around horses, and I was thinking, “What if a car backfires? What if someone shoots off some fireworks?” You can’t just trust that animals as big and easily spooked as horses won’t do something unpredictable. In the meantime, behind me were even more unsupervised kids working with horses. One boy was taking horses off their chains, walking them to get water, then bringing them back, while other smaller kids were talking and playing around the same horses. No supervising adult was near. After about 15 minutes of his doing this with the horses, another girl walked up and told him he wasn’t supposed to be doing that. What? So he can do something like this around other small children for 15 minutes before someone realizes it, and even then, the person who realized it was another kid, no more than 15 years old, probably younger? If your child is small and can be a bit timid like mine, this may not be the place for you.I do remember something kind of ominous that happened when I was signing the paperwork. The lady who I think is the owner told me Tennessee is a “no fault” state with regards to horses, which she said basically means they aren’t responsible no matter what happens. No one ever contacted us or followed up on our experience or whether we might like to continue with lessons.

I’ve ridden horses intermittently all my life but haven’t ever ridden regularly enough to develop any level of skill. We recently booked a safari trip to Africa which includes 3 days of horseback safari and although it is something I’ve always wanted to do, as the trip has got closer I’ve started panicking I might not be fit or competent enough to do it. I researched for local riding stables online and picked Creekside because it is local and has got very good reviews. I booked a private lesson for myself and my husband who is a far more experienced rider than me, and have just had a second lesson with Catherine.Catherine is young and enthusiastic and she really knows her stuff. She has been really patient and encouraging and has managed to get me very quickly to the point where I’m able to canter short distances safely,In just two lessons I feel far more confident and even though there is still much work to be done I’m really looking forward to our trip.We have one more lesson planned and hope to get a 4th in before we leave, and I plan to continue with the lessons when I return from our trip.

Wish I could give a good review but this wasnt good experience. First off my horse was not well. He had the runs so bad he wobbled a few times as if he was going to pass out from fatigue after stopping. The kids that seemed to be operating the place kept walking our h horse into the trees. My wife didnt tell me until later trying to not make a fuss informed me that she got rammed into the fence by her horse. 😏

I have been at Summer camps for creekside for 6 years and I have loved every second of it! I never knew how much I love horses until my first day of camp (in Kindergarten). Who knew I would fall so in love with it and lead me this far! I more recently started to take riding lessons to become more advanced in all things equine. I’ve gone from camper, to CITIT, to (more recently) CIT. CIT means counselor in training and it is a great program for expirienced riders! The whole place is absolutely beautiful the horses are amazing! The trainers are so sweet and so knowledgeable. I 100% reccomend Creekside to any level rider! (Why else would I drive 45 minutes to come here?)👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
