In terms of teaching what can sometimes be boring information to students, this place does it best. My daughter was struggling in her high school math class, and Brainstorm was recommended to her by a friend, who had been working with a tutor in math and had found it tremendously helpful. Brainstorm’s SAT/ACT boot camp helped me tremendously in my preparation for the ACT. The class was very enjoyable and taught me test day strategies and techniques. These strategies have made me feel more confident for my test coming up in December. I highly recommend Brainstorm tutoring if you are looking for improvement in your scores.

My children both used Brainstorm services in preparing for the ACT and SAT and improved their scores. One child used a one to one tutor while the other had a few sessions with the tutor but also used a month membership to BLAST prior to the test. Scores improved by 5 points on the ACT and over 300 points on the SAT. The staff was always helpful, knew my children, and kept me informed of their progress.

Alex (college application) and Christine (FAFSA/CSS/financial aid advising) were extremely helpful to my daughter and myself - they made what can be a very stressful process much less nerve racking! Great experience at BrainStorm. My son Ethan was already a high performer but we knew he could get close to perfect score with preparation. Rather than provide a cookie cutter solution by having him join the prep classes, BrainStorm recommended that they matchmake him with a one-on-one tutor for a limited number of sessions. I used BrainStorms one-week SAT Conquer Camp after my sophomore year of high school. Their tutors really helped me feel prepared for the exam after having only studied on my own for a few weeks. They were super fun to work with and gave me the tools to be able to study much more effectively on my own after the one-week session. I scored 200 points higher than my practice exams after using BrainStorm, and another 100 points higher the second time I took the exam after continuing to review their study points.

I took an SAT class this summer with Scott. I learned so much valuable information. The class was fun and interactive.

I called to ask about their program. Amy told me to send my child in to take a practice test on either Saturday or Sunday at 8 am (Be there by 7:50 to get his name in the system.) We arrived at 7:45 and waited. Other students arrived after us, but no one from the company showed up until 8 am. Then a young girl came in. Did not apologize for being late. Did not welcome any of us. She walked in the locked internal door. Turned on lights and set herself up. As she opened her computer, she looked at me, first in line and I said, My son is here to take the ACT test. hes not in the system yet. I handed her my credit card. She said, We only take cash or check. I said, No one told me that. I dont carry my checkbook and needed an ATM to get cash, but I was overwhelmed with the 8 am deadline so I said, And you were late to work. She looked up at me and said, Well, I just work here on the weekends. Still no apology. Still no solution to the problem of cash only I said good bye and wished good luck to everyone behind me waiting to take an 8 am simulated test and now its after 8 am. Before leaving, I told her, You are not doing your job if you are late to work on the weekends. If I was late to work, I would be fired. No apology. Nothing! It cant be that good a tutoring course if the test moderator is late to the test. My son and I walked outside and and we saw two banks where I could have withdrawn cash, but I just thought, wow, she did not even say. Fill out this form and when you come back to pick him up, you can pay for the test with cash or check or why dont you take a minute to go to an ATM and get cash. But no solutions....just an empty stare in her eyes that said she hated her job. Im glad we walked out.

Well, it seems that the timeliness of the staff has not improved. I too arrived as I was told this morning at 7:45 and stood outside for 15 minutes in the freezing cold waiting for someone to open the door. Not a good start. I had my check for $48 dollars made out in advance and handed it in promptly. I left my daughter to take the hybrid SAT/ACT test. She texted me during her break that the test in fact cost 89 dollars!!!!!!! No where on the website does it say that. It says test simulations for SAT/ACT cost 48 dollars. I even called weeks ahead and spoke at length about the test, what I needed to do and how I may follow up afterwards and was never told this dollar amount. I would have NEVER signed up there if I had known. (Kaplan offers the hybrid in several area high schools for free.) When I explained to the staff that I made a call, received an email and reviewed the website several times and not once was there a mention of a different rate for the hybrid test, I was basically told, Too bad. Knowing that my daughters scores would not be released without full payment, I paid the difference and left. Certainly will NOT be back. As an educator in a local high school I will also make sure I share this experience with my colleagues and students. So disappointed as your services came highly recommended from a neighbor.
