Thank you so much to the staff and residents here at Salvation Army Fort Worth, TX. You all touched my heart and I am blessed that you were able to give me a place to stay and food to eat when I was homeless. Great programs. For anyone dealing with mental illness and/or substance abuse problems, this is a great stepping stone to get back on track. While I can’t thank the residents that made an impact on my life publicly as it will be a violation of HIPPA, I want to say thank you to Ms. Gail, Ms. Taylor, Ms. Angela, Ms. Kristi, Chef Michael, Ms. Liz, and all other staff that I forgot to mention. The atmosphere is very cozy. Imagine a college experience you’ve never had.
This woman in the front desk acts like she is over every one we barely can go get out and buy my fiance some food to eat and she is pregnant they barely feed us a good meal in the morning and afternoon for lunch on top of that we cant even go smoke for only specific times most of the time we gotta stay locked in the dorm like we kids they said they changing the times for us to be able to go to stores but when the staff is rude they walk away from you while your talking to em I feel like they think there better than us
This place has helped my family so much god bless you for caring about the homeless population
I am trying to find a place to donate some womens clothing, work attire. The lady answering the phone was very rude and said that location didnt accept donations, take this number down. I apologize for following the instructions on the website (she sounded very annoyed) and she proceeded to say just take this number down.
They assist, feed and house homeless people. I used to work there. The neighborhood is dangerous so be careful if visiting
Wouldn’t recommend this shelter if your pregnant or have children there’s a smaller dorm if the bigger dorm is filled that doesn’t have air conditioning and staff and maintenance are aware of this issue and just refused to address the problem a family said it’s been almost a week like this with no accommodations they’ve refused to open a door to the hall where there is air conditioning or put a fan or anything inside the room but could put a bucket where I assume the a/c leaked from and can have a attitude and when you question it them as to why it’s hot
On time n a great meeting with case worker
This shelter and Lifeline is Living up to its Name. They Truly Care.
Got matched with a housing program. And my case worker found me a place the same day. Thank you Ms. Williams
This place takes care of its homeless individuals. They also have a Veterans program and serve the needs to get housing after their stay is over. Job programs to get you back on your feet. The homeless that are on the street are fed 3 meals a day 7 days a week. Congratulations to the staff that prepares those meals👌.
Helpful and compassionate staff; on site security, and eager to assist clients in distress. Family friendly, safe, and empathetic towards all.
To many druggies outside pissing all over
This establishment is very good with the needs of the people.
The staff tends to be very slow to help requests, and some cases can be pretty rude. Theyll tell you one thing and then days later they change their minds and make you conform to new rules with each visit when you stay. Not very clean in here either, bathroom is pretty filthy and the sinks are cracked and never properly cleaned, there are rude people that complain about every single thing one person or more do, and you are freezing cold if its around this time of year.
Food isnt good. Bathroom isnt good. And bed to sleep in isnt good
Dinner is at 5 pm. We needed a scan card or ID. There is shelter for families, but you need to wait to see if theres any available. The people running the front desk where helpful and nice. It can be a little overwhelming if youre new to the experience, but be patient. Theyre just as overwhelmed with people needing to eat. It was a much needed hot meal and were grateful.~ I feel the need to revise my review. After eating there a few days it became obvious that welfare moms are abusing the system. They are overweight and obviously eating elsewhere, but go there for more free food. They take a plate for each of their small children who cannot eat it and eat it themselves. I might not have minded had they served a portion that met the needs of at least my husband, if not myself and my children. He has to work and a single slice of pizza is not enough nutrition for a grown working man. I dont know what the Salvation Army spends their donations on, but its not meals for the homeless.
I stayed there back in the early 2000 s. It is not the worst place to stay but certainly not the best. I was harassed by onlookers and vagrants outside the bldg sometimes. The food was decent though and the tea was fine. Im glad I dont have to stay there anymore as the ambience of the place is substandard. A ship of fools so to speak
Basic human treatment here. Single men have 2 floors of housing. Males & females with children are welcome. General dining is open room but fraternizing is discouraged. Families of all genders are allowed to eat together.Program (s) strongly discourage drug use, so dont bring that mess in here.
What they stand for is great some locations need to remember that there to help families and the homeless not to judge them and look down on them
The obese black girl at the front desk has a lack of respect for homeless individuals that are Hispanic Latino like myself . I have a scan card to eat food but she and her obese black male co-worker told me I cannot eat the food because the scan card is out of date . Only Tuesdays and Thursdays they issue new scan cards and because its Friday she and her fat co-worker denied me entrance to eat as if they want all the food for themselves only . And just yesterday I was granted permission to eat by a white woman that works in salvation army who was aware that my scan card is expired while this fat overweight black girl insisted she is only following protocol was discriminating towards me and trying to be disrespectful by keeping me from eating . These type of people should not be employed . I will seek further with higher management to have these 2 overweight obese persons immediately removed from the salvation army, because instead of trying to do good and allow a homeless individual to eat, they both discriminate and try to keep the food for themselves. FOOD Resources should never be guarded by the obese and no hungry homeless individual should be turned away just because a scan card is a little out of date . Other salvation armies throughout the U.S.A., have never turned away a person in need for petty reasons. I was discriminated against because of my light skin color and Hispanic race by these 2 overweight ignorant black persons .
The whole point of facilitating these places is to feed and house the homeless. Abusing your position is not part of the job description. Its been blistering hot outside and with us being without a home how can one decide what we wear. No spaghetti strapped tank tops in regards to women. But when you are wearing a tank top with two inch wide straps whats the problem. The people that work there are despicable. Most African Americans working there greet you and answer all your questions. This obese Caucasian female that sits on her ass for 8 hours is another issue. I feel management should screen potential employees thoroughly before handing out employment. One should have compassion and a heart dealing with the homeless. To bar someone for 30 days is heartless and cold. And to talk about church is laughable in itself. God doesnt like ugly.
I really like my case mgr Ms. Walker Im in the housing program Ive been so blessed everyone has been very pleasant at Salvation Army
Just dirty.
A place for the homeless to have 3 free meals a day.
Right on! This place saved me from sleeping on the streets, after the Presbyterian night shelter would not let me in. TjT security guard was awesome and he helped me go through the ropes. They let me In with my dog. Of course all the children are saying puppy puppy because my dog is a Boston terrier and is little guy want to pet. The only bad thing that I have to say that it was a weekend and alitaof the moms make the older child the parent. The bathroom was .disgu disgusting. Poop all over. I couldnt get into the handicap toilet because the children messed it
They usually have a good lunch and decent dinner. Breakfast is usually s piece of ham and small croissant.
Terrible they kicked me out and put my child in cps
Ms.Wilson was phenomenal, cant thank her enough.
Perfect place to get yourself monumentally stable and establish a good path in order to make a great start in the city!!! If you need help... check into it
I love the fact that Salvation army gives people a place to stay when they have no where to go, but what i dont like is the fact that they dont let people know about the resources that are available to them. There are some people that have never been homeless before, or have been homeless, and just dont know about the resources that are available. Such as transitioning to housing, or vouchers for clothing, and even programs that will help them find work. They just bring you in, and get you out, and by the time your exit date arrives you have not accomplished anything, and still your in the same position you were in when you first came. Salvation Army you must do a better job at helping individual with bettering there situation, and please hire better security guards. Theres one that is so rude to the people there, and says such hateful things to them. I pray that you guys will get together!
Cuz i gave it 4 starz
They help get me off the streets, sober me and cleaned me up. Now I am ready to be a functioning member of society again thanks to this organization and the staff there.
Nice place friendly people to help as needed.
I couldnt stay when I was homeless at 15 because I didnt have an Id! However they did give me free meals years later. I dont hate them but Im not excited about them either
The staff is super helpful but you have to watch out for the residents
Its a decent place to receive shelter.
They speak of doing the most good but to tell the truth i dont see where any of the donations are going towards helping the people who reach out to them. The most i have witnessed is an early morning feeding followed by a 12pm lunch...and you cant get in without a referral or the use of a 3 night a year privilege for emergency sheltering smdh
When I stayed overnight at this shelter, my experiences were always great, and the meals were great as well. I am somewhat disappointed that men can no longer stay there unless they are on a program, leaving most men with really one decent shelter (Union Gospel Mission) to sleep at overnight in Fort Worth. But as a seasonal employee for the Northside Corps, I will continue to support the Salvation Army; being employed as a bellringer during the holidays always is a joy!
This is the worst Place to come if you already going through a rough time in your life dont come here. They feel because you became homeless your nothing and your going to treated like nothing. You eat at 5 after that you can a have one bottle of water ppl come down there from churches and other organizations and give out care bags and blanket but we cant have the stuff put out on there patio or throw it away. If your children get hungry after 5 Ole well they cant have nothing or you kick out and it be freezing In there. SOMETHING NEEDS TO DONE. FOR THE HOMELESS
Theyre very helpful with groceries, rent, utilities, furniture voucher. I use 2 work there my husband 2. He was in maintenance & I worked in kitchen.
Make a phone call and find out if they have what you need. I needed to donate some used clothes and stuff and they were very helpful.
The food was good whenever I ate there in past...now.... Tho, they wouldnt let me do much without a scan card even with a I D
Not the Ritz, but it is a warm place to be when one is without shelter. The people who work there are there by choice. God bless!
I thank God for this place, I really do. I came from NJ to TX to start a better life for me and my son and was about to stay 6 months with someone that me and my mom knew for yrs. I took her to be a close friend of the family and thought I can trust her, since she has been there for us in the past. To my surprise, she lied to me about it being ok to stay with her and her leasing department was ok with it and come to find out she even lied to leasing...Turned into a complete mess and she still wanted money from me after still having to leave. But anyway, this place was a God sent. They welcomed me with a clean roof, food, clean linen, church, parking at night for my car and never asked me for anything. I truly thank God for this place and may God continue to bless them so they can continue to be a blessing to others...Thank you Salvation army.
Helpful for the homeless.
The lady that answered the phone was very rude and snarky.
The security team in thr front is really rude an unhelpful I was trying to get away from an abusive relationship an I lost my id they told me I couldnt be on the property not even for my 3 yr old to use the restroom.
Safe Place for Homeless. Good food
Gives daily lunch and dinner sacks lunch 2:30 dinner 5:30
The security there is rude and you get treated like a criminal and a drug addict. the personel is not profesional at all. the security at second shift is the worse, he is disrespectful and loves to put the homeless down maybe that makes him feel better. I was never disrespected but other people around me were. I pray to God their staff get renew with better ethics. The case workers are horrible as well. never volunteer there again.
Sincere and mercifill they have only;y7rned Mr off once inn3yes5s
They man program runner is basis to helping people. Like its his or her money not a place of help.
The staff are former homeless people whom are greatly under trained and no where near being qualified for running a facility with many walks of life a and many different back grounds and beliefs. This is not ONE SIZE fits all. The verbal belittling, the stereotyping, the assuming, the bullying, the treating everyone like a criminal whether they are or not is outrageous, profound and complex. The control is over baring and over whelming. The staff is not train for some the the physical as well as mental disabilities/challenges., there is great room for improvement on the facilities part as well as the clients and homeless that enter these doors whom have fallen on hard times whether their fault or NOT. God be with us all through this psychologically and emotionally challenging times. Prayers that gos deliver the best of the best to correct the mistakes of the under qualified. Good luck everyone. Its sometimes worst than boot camp, prison and a mental ward all rolled up into one overkill civil war.
VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL
A major boon for the under privileged and hungry. Anyone who needs a meal can eat here.
Had Xmas lunch there,,enjoyed it

The chow is better on the other side.
Helpful people, who really try to help!
They do not service or help single women.
I would give this place no stars, if I could.
Been there its tough when your alone in the world..let alone homeless..they do their best
If you need help they will help. ask for Devin
These ppl inside are honestly RUDE, i was just trying to do community service and these black women think you trying to ask them out on a date or something. Disrespectful.

How are we suppose to get help with rental assistance..Hell they want you to be making $10 a hour in order to even help you ..All my asking is for some help
Their here to help the homeless, but some of them could care less about anyone else
Nice food nice employees
This place is bias and only look after their employees and not the people in need I wouldnt have given any stars but had to to let people know the staffing at Salvation army sucks and only do the most good for their employees not the people in need..if you dont believe me go see for yourself
It was great for immediate assistance for overnight stay.
Its a money hungry and power driven establishment
I am in Awe at how giving, patient and kind Salvation Army is.
They dont do the most good PERIOD
Slow helping to donate to get assistance
Staff are rude. Lot of problems with the housing projects
Very nice except the bathroom
Helping others
Very friendly and helpful.
The food was passable and the receptioonist was really polite
No help for the homeless if they do not have a Scanner card. We can not even potty without one :(
