Free parking and free admission to the permanent collection building! It’s one of the free museums in the DFW area. The main building (hosting the permanent collection) is always free. Not a whole lot of collections, but still a decent amount especially considering it’s admission free.Gift shop also has a good collection of art items and other novelties.Definitely a good indoor place to check out when the outdoor weather isn’t good or temperature is too high!
We love this place. If you’re in Fort Worth Texas and you have at least an hour do you need to go see the free exhibit at least. Or pay to see some of their traveling exhibits. This is your one stop shop for global culture in Texas. I’ve been to art museums all over the world, Singapore Tokyo London and Paris. Of All of them the Kimball Art Museum ranks tops in my book. Howdy’all 🤠
Visited the Kimbell Art Museum on a Saturday. Saw the Buddha, Shiva Lotus, Dragon exhibit, Piano area. Arrived early. Free parking. Parked by the front entry parking area, on site. Bought tickets at the concierge, military discount is accepted. You can book tickets online too. Download the Kimbell Art Museum app on your personal device and bring headphones to listen to the audio tour. There is a small Cafe on site if you wanna buy food. Lots of help on site, staff is on duty to assist. Pleasant, fun visit.
Weve been living here now for almost 18 years, and the Kimbell has always had world class exhibits and has never disappointed. We are always impressed with the staff, the organization and the selection of pieces. Their permanent collection is rather impressive as well. This is a town with a lot of culture, rivaling Dallas and larger cities in the nation. We went on this occasion to see the Neffertari exhibit and were really impressed. Good job Kimbell!
Its one of the best museums Ive ever been. The special showcase charges money but the permanent artworks are in a separate building and that one is completely free. I was surprised to see multiple of Monets paintings inside the regular building. It also had a section for Neoclassical/Renaissance artworks and they are very cool. The gifts in the little shop were kind of expensive but they were in the affordable range. If youre looking for inexpensive little souvenirs then I suggest the postcards (around $1) that have various artworks printed on them. Great museum!
Had a really good time at the Queen Nefertari exhibit. It was beautifully displayed ANDreally informational for anyone thats interested in Egyptian history. The museum complied to social distancing & mask guidelines (required to cover nose + mouth and extra masks were provided by the museum in case there was a malfunction by a guest). Can only come in parties of 5 or less, but still a really good time if youre looking to see something truly unique and well preserved.
I havent been to the Kimbell in ages, and I could have walked the halls for hours! I loved gazing at the paintings by all the old masters and the artifacts they had on exhibit. I dont get to do this often enough and I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent. Free entry unless there is special exhibit.
Had a wonderful experience at the museum. Enjoyed the Cafe and the items/souvenirs for purchase. Definitely planning on going back and soon!
A celebrated example of museum design.
If you’re in Fort Worth you should go. It’s small but nice. Staff at the entrance of the museum are pretty nice and welcoming.
Fort Worth hits above its weight on culture. Music, cuisine and art options are more varied and refined than you might expect for a town of less than a million on the North Texas prairies. And the Kimbell is one of the crowned jewels of cow-town. I visit every time I pull through the area.
Im always so proud of the selection of works that come to the Kimball. The permanent collection on display is always so great. The museum has a love for the impressionist and I always look forward to those exhibits. The court yard connecting the Kahn building and Piano pavilion is lovely. Such a beautiful place to walk around, take pictures, and relax. Really a wonderful place to visit in Fort Worth.
Very Sophisticated & nice. Its interesting to see all the cool paintings & statues that they have. I got there late so I couldnt buy food. But I definitely want to come back to enjoy all of it.
I love the Kimbell. Beautiful place
This museum during the month of August has been such a pleasure because of the Allegro Guitar Society. I have been blessed to hear performances by the President of the Allegro Guitar Society, Christopher McGuire, himself, but Nathaniel Earhart as well. Both men were so alluring and captivating in person as well as in performance and a much needed experience.
Loved 🥰 the Exhibition! It was an astonishing collection! I can only recommend visiting the museum. I’m looking forward for the next time!
Unique and easily missed building! I have been right next to it and never noticed! The beauty of this architecture is in its function and interaction. Get inside!
Had a wonderful experience at this museum. My husband and I had questions and the staff ( namely Mr. McAn ) addressed my questions and went above and beyond to make sure we were completely satisfied and happy. This museum is a wonderful way to broaden horizons, learn new and fascinating things about our world and show our children that theres so much to see and explore. I highly recommend this experience to anyone.
Very nice experience. A quiet place to study and learn. Yearly memberships are a must have, see all the beautiful things they have at the exhibit throughout. Would recommend to everyone.
Waiting in line for LONG time 2-3 hrs! But it as educational! Wish they also ad mummy s! It was OK!
I l❤️ve everything about this museum! The significant architecture (need to have a tour about it), the unique artwork and gorgeous paintings, the quiet restaurant, the interesting bookstore, the atmosphere, the grounds, even the parking lot is designed and parking is available. This is my favorite place. If I lived closer, I would visit every day. (I prefer the original building but the new building has much to offer.)
Very small, but had a variety of art on display from the great masters to the Impressionists.Entry was free except for the special exhibit which we didnt tour today.. It was very clean and welcoming. There were several docents that were engaging in conversation about specific pieces which was very welcoming. All the staff we met were friendly and happy to be there.Definitely a very positive experience.
We went specifically to see the Queen Nefertari of Egypt exhibition. We are going to go back to look at the regular exhibits at another time. The exhibition was fabulous!
Absolutely loved the Kimbell Art Musuem. The Nefatari exhibition was incredible and filled with so much Egyptian history. Highly recommend for art and history lovers.
Beautiful pieces. Beautiful environment. Thanks for recommending this Tom
The Buddha, Shiva, Lotus, Dragon exhibit was exceptional!
I loved the permanent art collection and the Egyptian exhibit. Definitely go see it before it leaves!
They have Michelangelos possibly first painting from when he was 12 or 13. Its the only painting of his in the Western Hemisphere. Aside from that is free to view. Their collection is amazing, the architecture is amazing, parking is easy, this is one of the best museum experiences in the world. And I spend a lot of time in Paris. The Louvre clearly has more pieces but its a madhouse and hard to enjoy the work like you can at the Kimbell.
Rotating permanent collection is tasteful classic masters curated by knowledgeable and friendly staff, with an eye for rare, tasteful exhibits of both private and public collections... I recommend membership if you are an art goer, the Buddha, Shiva, Lotus Dragon exhibit is worth the trip. Try the tea service. Excellent experience every time.
Art housed in the artful mastery of Louis Kahn. Enjoy the grounds and facilities as much as the paintings and sculptures.
The Egyptian Queen Nefertaris exhibit is fabulous. There is a wait even when you pre-paid for tickets. They do a very good job of social distancing and giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy the exhibit. Just be patient it is worth the wait. Also if you are there during lunch, the museum cafeteria had a delicious box lunch and very tasty lemon pound cake. They had a wonderful soup and a quiche that was perfect.
Really pleasant, friendly staff. Easy to find and to park. Their gifts hop is great and the exhibition was beautiful. Also, the architecture and design of the auditorium was aesthetically pleasant.
The Kimbell is a great museum and has many amazing exhibits. We have seen many of their exhibits over the years and they do a nice job of presenting everything well. Their collection is outstanding and always fun to look at over and over again.
Delightfully open, airy, pleasant venue for viewing artworks of all kinds. Nice gift shop. Pleasant outdoor space to relax.
Be prepared for museum staff to hover over you. Great art, but how can you enjoy it with people just staring at every move you make in the building. It’s like they saw me walk in and thought I was an art thief. Thank Michelangelo the admission was free.
Queen Nefertari and her tomb were amazing to view.Enjoy the audio via the Kimball Museum app.Wonderful staff!!!!!
Such an amazing sanctuary of a place to be. I absolutely love the water art they have there, I imagine its an undertaking to keep it so pretty.
The Kimbell Art Museum is a little-known gem in Fort Worth. Though the permanent collection is small it is has some interesting exhibits with a mix of Asian and European Egyptian and native American artifacts. The building itself is an architectural gem.Admission is generously free.
I have journeyed with the Kimbell Art Museum for 20+ years. I took my kids to expose them to the Masters. I didnt have that experience as a youth. I remember meeting JMW Turner for the first time when they brought his watercolors of Venice and other great collections. A new pavilion has been added to the grounds to preserve the architecture of the original building which is considered a master work of Kahn. The permanent collection, which is always free, is housed without having to trade out space for the visiting collection. The membership is inexpensive and worth the investment for all kinds of benefits. Enjoy!
I loved the Monet exhibit. I went with my daughter who has a passion for art and was inspired by the beautiful paintings. It was nice that they let us take pictures and listen to the audio recordings as we walked. The workers we very friendly and helpful. You also get to see the Renzo piano pavilion where the paintings are displayed. I can’t wait for the next exhibition. It truly was a treat that I will never forget.
It was an outstanding showing of ancient Egyptian life and culture!!
This was my first time to the Kimbell Art Museum. We came for the Monet exhibit, which was fantastic. Everyone is familiar with the water lilies but its his later years that really demonstrated his versatility. His vision also began to fail as he developed a cataract in one eye and was blind in the other - his perception of color and shape evolved significantly. We didnt have much time for the rest of the museum exhibits but Ill definitely go back!
I enjoyed the Queen nefetari exhibit. I was in awe the entire time. I purchased the audio tour and it was enjoyable and informative.
We went when there was no featured exhibits, so the place was somewhat empty and admission was free. It always a pleasure there, helpful staff, quiet place to get lost in masterful artworks. Loved this place ever since my field trip in high school. If you have never been or have nothing to do I recommend it and there is a small little bistro there as well. I would go for the tea for two its was tasty.
Fantastic place, great art in a world class facility.
We love the Kimbell! The venue is gorgeous and great for taking a stroll (indoors with AC!) and stopping for pictures along the way. The Monet exhibit was beautiful! Incredible works of art. And the guided audio tour was just right - easy to use and informative. This place is one of the gems of Fort Worth and a must for sightseeing!
Wonderful facilities the cafe was a bit crowded but well worth the wait
This was my first time visiting the Kimbell! I LOVED IT! Great staff and tons of art. I viewed the Monet Exhibit and it was extraordinary. I want to go back before it ends this month. I’m excited for the Renoir exhibit as well.
Had an amazing time. Socially distant. Art displayed and lit perfectly. The attendants around the museum keep people and the art safe (enforcement of masks was witnessed twice)without distracting from the experience.
Hands down one of the best museums I’ve been to. The best part is that it’s all free. Plenty of parking and great up keep on the surroundings.
A little difficult to navigate between the two buildings with a walker but managed. Beautiful exhibition and no nonsense safety precautions.
Nice paintings and sculptures
The Monet exhibit was beautiful. The architecture of the building it’s awesome. So happy to have this top museums in the South of the US
I went to see the Queen Nefertari special exhibition. It is totally worth it
Love this place! It is a great treasure that we have the founders of both museums that brought rare pieces of art! All surprisingly here in Texas! The architectural design within and outside the space are gorgeous.
A gem of a museum in Fort Worth. Permeant collection is free to view, and visiting collections change every few months. We always enjoy our visits here. I definitely recommend downloading the app for audio tours!
What’s not to love? Friday night jazz on the green and usually music inside. You better check first if that’s why you’re going. Oh and it’s free on Friday nights as well.
One of the pearls in Fort Wörth, TX. The permanent exhibit is always nice to see again. Last time we went to see the special Buddha & Shiva exhibit and learned a few new things about the relationship of Buddhism and Hinduism.
Amazing exhibits, wonderful building, odd one here but their underground parking lot is spotless.. and its likely to be free to go unless its a special exhibit and then it is a very minimal fee, outdoor area is pretty cool too.
Nice exhibits. High tea in the Cafe was the cherry on top.
Loved the permanent collection thats free entry and cant wait to come back for the Egyptian exhibits! Also there is a park nearby thats perfect for an after museum picnic. Super covid safe and even for a Saturday it wasnt over ran with people. Loved it and the art was literally astounding to see in person. Unbelievable pieces and I adore the post card art you can buy! I got to take some of my favorite pieces home with me!
Nefertari exhibition was great. Plenty of parkingThe permanent exhibits are very nice too
It’s small, but perfect in that sense. You can go and see everything, yet somehow everytime I come back it’s all new again. When you come, be sure to download the app and audio tours. Be kind to yourself and listen to the children’s tour, bo one will know the difference and it’s incredibly engaging.
The Kimball Art Museum is definitely one of the perks of living in Fort Worth. Its free except for special exhibits, with free parking. Their collection is the best of the best, housed in world class architecture. You cannot beat it!
Really loved their permanent collection houses in a beautiful building that lets in natural light. They also have a well-stocked gift shop and helpful docents.
A very nice museum and the staff was extremely pleasant and always ready to assist. We were also very excited to see all the ways they strive to make everything accessibility friendly for disabled persons. ♿ 👍🏻
A wonderful place to experience art. The variety of exhibits is wonderful.
Very personable service and the food was super clean!! Id recommend it
Today was free due to only the permanent collection could be viewed. Wonderful examples of great artists work. The staff was helpful, friendly and professional. I loved it!
Family friendly and considerate right down to the bathrooms. Often hosts events that appeal to a variety of age groups (even little ones!). Im always finding new things to like in their permanent collection. Their touring collections are inspiring, well organized and displayed with fascinating background information.
Five stars for customer service and walk ability. The art work on site is breathtaking plus they offer voice over machines so you can look at the art I’m while hearing about its story vs. trying to read a pamphlet on the side.Hats off to the free umbrellas to walk between the buildings.
Late Monet is a FANTASTIC exhibit — maybe better than any in the US! The Mimir Concert series is unfortunately only annually but worth the wait as the musicians are world renown. Acoustics were perfect in the private auditorium.
Amazing exhibit!!! I stood in line 1.5 hours well worth the wait. This is a must see especially if you have kids its history, real history . My teenage and older daughters love this they explained to me with the movie Prince of Egypt Ramsey wife. One of 8 she is the one all loved. Queen Nefertiti 👸
The Kimbell is one of my favorite places in Texas. It is a great way to spend a day. There are continually high-caliber exhibits on top of a extensive and impressive permanent collection that never gets old. I make the trip from East Texas several times a year for new exhibits. The museum is always clean and the flow through galleries is intuitive for visitors. There is ample parking for the facility and having the Modern Art Musuem of Forth Worth across the parking lot is a huge perk.
The Kimbell is my favorite art museum in Texas. It’s always clean with well thought-out exhibits and spaces. The Monet exhibit was understandably crowded, but still very enjoyable!
Worth spending time here at the Kimbell. If you cant get to the Lourve, this is a great option. Youll enjoy some of the great masterpieces of Monet, Michaelangelo, Picasso, Matisse among others. Dont miss it when youre in Fort Worth, Texas!
For free admission, the permanent collection merits a good hour. Bring a book to enjoy the fountains and garden around the premises.
Perfect low key date. Theres a cafe to enjoy as well.
Gorgeous facility. If you are an art lover Id say its downright romantic. Our visit was centered around the traveling Renoir Exhibit just before it leaves in late January. We had no time to be lost or uncertain as we entered the front door because the greeting staff spotted our questioning faces and leapt to the ready. The tickets/membership desk was manned by (more like womaned) by no less than 6 speedy agents. Less than 10 minutes later, with our shiny new membership in one hand and our tour wands in the other, we were ready to pour some visual arts culture into our family.
Super cool museum. We went to the Nefetari exhibit which was definitely worth it. Also the building on the other side has a really good lunch, food and service were good. The outside grounds have cool architecture. Very cool and worth a visit. Great for photography as well.
Always love the Kimbell. Lunch is awesome too.
Art Expositions for free as well, nice lunch menu... awesome
Beautiful facilities and exhibits. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The back pavilion is currently closed, but I look forward to returning when its back open.
I would recommend staying home until this society can come into the present with us. Judge Whitely and Governor Abbot have eased social distancing and the mask order but if it was OK to follow suit with the orders why is not acceptable to follow suit with the ease of restrictions. We need to return to normalcy when it is safe to do so, and it is safe.
We spent over two hours enjoying the beauty of the paintings and artifacts. Highly recommend this place.
Always amazing! The underground parking lot was even beautiful!
