Nice place. Fun for the kids. Suggestion on the seating in the shade. What about a sign that says PLEASE. Dont reserve chairs in the shade unless ALL guests are also sitting in the shade and not swimming There was only 2 umbrellas, and all chairs were reserved with towels, but not a single person sitting. I get burned easy, and needed a shade spot.
I have a lot of fun usually going too the outdoor pool especially the slide but whenever I go there it’s usually just for that reason I would rate it 5 stars if the weather wasn’t so crazy most of the time
We have been members for a year. We have not once seen the indoor slide at the pool open. I personally have never seen the big slide open at the outdoor pool. We joined for our children, and as this being a main amenity for them, its very misleading and disappointing to see that what was told to us, is not accurate.Additionally, My son attended a weekday summer camp (m-f) and was so miserable that week that I canceled our remaining camps. They never did anything they said they were going to do, a ton of sitting around and missed multiple pool sessions because of lack of planning on the counselors part.
My son has been playing basketball through the youth program at the Jorgensen Y for years and always had a great experience. However, this particular season is terribly unorganized. The basketball game is much more physical than it should be for a group of 6-8 year olds and the ref was more interested playing on his phone than watching the game. Whoever is running the program changed the times of the last 3 or 4 games of the season and as a result we will miss the remaining games due to scheduling conflicts. Weve definitely noticed a difference in the organization of the program this year. This season has been disappointing.
Funnnnnnnnn i love the camps there and the lit program
Beautiful facility, well maintained, staff is pleasant and helpful.
Today was a very disappointing day. My son has gone down the slide numerous times and just reaches the 48 inches stick. One of the lifeguard s said he wasn’t tall enough to I went to the aquatics director who went and got the stick from the top of the slide and put it next to the stick at the beginning of the slide and they did not match up to which he agreed they didn’t, however though he purposely placed his hand on my sons head underneath the red line showing that he is not 48 inches. At this point he was making a big ordeal and yelling at us in front of many other members who were agreeing that he was tall enough and was matching the 48 inches on the stick. At this point the aquatics director was not only being argumentative but had a complete control tripped over the situation because myself and many were not agreeing with him and he was becoming distraught And looked at my son And told him rudely you will not be going down the slide for the rest of the summer! He caused an unnecessary scene while my son is crying And not to mention my son was tall enough to go down the slide it was just at this point he wanted to have the control of making the decision that he wasn’t allowed to. The YMCA is supposed to be a Christian establishment and I must say this was not a Christian way to handle the situation. At this point so many members were completely appalled at him and many left as so did we. I’ve contacted the aquatics head director and left a message and hopefully this will get sorted out. We absolutely love going to the Y, but if we are going to be treated this way then I don’t for see us continuing being a member. I understand that there should be stringent rules when it comes to the safety of the members, however going overboard and purposely trying to make a child cry when he was clearly tall enough is absolutely unexcusable. Not to mention as we were leaving one of the lifeguards snarly laughed and said have a nice day! We were treated poorly and I hope that this situation will be investigated and something should be done on how to handle situations like these in a more professional way without any inconsistencies of the height on the poles that clearly do not match of 48 inches. *UPDATE : after dealing with all of this they eventually made it right and that’s what’s important so I change the rating from one star to five stars because I believe that if anyone or any company is able to make it right in someway then that’s great customer service and now we’re happy
Landmark reviewWe come here weekly for my sons swim classes and the parking situation is crazy. There is usually no parking at all and if the adjacent park is closed for the season I have no idea where you are suppose to put your car. This is the one major downside of this location. The facility themselves are quite clean albiet crowded at times on the weekend. There isnt too many places to sit down and wait for your kids to finish class. The pool itself is also smaller than other pools we have been to at other YMCA in Illinois. Overall I am happy we have not gotten a YMCA membership as it is not cheap and I can only imagine how it continues to be very crowded during the course of the week.
Usually friendly but today the pool guy decided to talk down to both me and my son about “an unacceptable Life Jacket” that we’ve used there all summer....Fine no prob We’ll borrow one of theirs for today. Nope, he comes back and say I need to hold my son in the water or we can’t swim. I guess I didn’t understand why it was necessary to hold a 4 year old in the water who has taken swim lesson here for the past year and the water came to his waist. He was very rude from beginning to the end as if he didn’t want us there. Again we’ve swam here all summer with no such problems.
This YMCA is amazing!!! Visiting this facility as a change of pace from my home Y was so much fun! There are indoor rock climbing walls and the outdoor pool was outstanding! 10/10 will make the road trip to visit again.
Our family loves the YMCA! A membership is a must have for any family looking to stay fit and be involved w the community.
I love Jorgensen YMCA! The people who work there are great! As a member, I have access to a number of exercise classes that are fun and rejuvenating. Plus, they have the pools, both indoor and outdoor that are second to none. Being a member of the Y opens a door to a host of opportunities.
Friendly staff and a lot to do. Unfortunately the staff can’t control all the clientele, as is probably the case with most businesses of this nature they have a large number of people who don’t know how to follow rules. Overall the atmosphere is welcoming and the facility clean. They have childcare available and a multitude of classes. At times there does seem to be a large number of children running around without supervision, many of these kids find their way to the running/walking track can be a dangerous situation. I’ve seen a few times were kids have been mowed down by jogging adults. With that said, I truly believe It’s the best YMCA in the Fort Wayne area.
Fantastic facility. Staff is very helpful and welcoming. Absolute gold standard disability accessibility, with adult changing tables, Autism sensory room, and other great features for members with disabilities.
I enjoy working out at Jorgensen, Ive had issues in the past, but they have been resolved right away. The staff and the trainers are awesome.
I love this YMCA it’s new and very clean . But why they don’t build big door for the men shower room ? I think it will be better small private room because afternoon everyday they have too many younger kids run around there without the parents ... they pulling down plastic shower door make them broken a lot .
Great place to work out and for swimming but a lot kids with no parents in. And I asked about a fridge to put breastmilk and they don’t have one
I just started a membership for my kids and I love coming for swimming but dont understand why the slide is always closed
Been using this YMCA for about a year now. Its a busy place, but the people are generally friendly and hospitable. Numerous machines, cycles, ellipticals, treadmills, etc. A few cable machines and stair climbers. Plenty of dumbbells.Rock wall. Indoor pool. And now a great outdoor pool and deck area (which could stand to have a few more shaded areas, but thats being knit picky).I think some of the negative reviewers below had really unrealistic expectations. For my money, with everything it offers: 4 stars.
This YMCA is incredible. It has everything, from an outdoor pool to an extensive gym. The memberships are cheap and is worth it to go here. I highly recommend.
Very clean and friendly staff. The walking trails around it are fantastic. There are many classes and fun things to do.
Very friendly staff which is most important. They always seem to stay busy, but can help you if you need it. The facility is very clean too. The main thing I can not stand is the high number of unsupervised children running around everywhere after school hours. A couple days ago there were even a few stragglers, probably part of the seventh grade program beating another kid up right outside the doors. There are alot of beneficial family aspects of the Y including child care, HOWEVER the seventh graders need to be contained. Babysit them or dont, but dont let them annoy others paying alot for their memberships....
The staff is very friendly! Especially Jackie at the front desk. It is clean an well maintained. It is a joy to see all ages using the facility
Great place with friendly staff! The members there are also very respectful.
Excellent place to be if you have fitness goals.....great staff, always helpful. You will be happy you became a member!!
It is a busy Y. If you like people, this is the place. Rules are strictly enforced.
Very nice pools, rules I would sort of disagree with, but lifeguards arent too annoying with them. Like swimming here.
They have a rock climbing wall. They have different exercise classes including zumba and belly dancing. They have an inside track. They also have an inside and an outside pool.
Employees need to manage the small children better. If you go in anytime after 3pm it looks more like a daycare then a gym.
Avoid during the summer months. With school being out and summer camp in session the mens locker room was almost elbow to elbow. There was about 30-35 little kids that flooded the locker room, unsupervised, and about a dozen pre teens flexing in main walkways arguing about tank tops.
Friendly Efficient Knowledge personal. Great equipment and facilities.
Friendly atmosphere, clean, customer focused staff, and many activities to choose from. Great value for the price!
Great place to lift or bring the kids for a swim
We love the pools. The fitness room seems geared toward weight lifting.
It was good being able to go up stairs and run.
Amazing and fantastic place for the entire family. Highly recommend!
Friendly staff, great facilities, caring child watch. Were big fans of the Y.
Good place good people
When I’m visiting the area I cannot pay for a week or several days to work out. Need a policy change!
Love the staff and love the pool area.
I love going to they gym and balling
Great place great staff
Everything is scattered and not really under control and some of the front desk members are very rude
Great hours, friendly staff
