My experience was outstanding. Picked a car from the emerald row, through the pay booth and was out of the airport within 5 minutes of stepping into the National area. Car was great (Toyota Camry), very clean and economical to drive. The car was as easy to return as it was to pick it up. A young man greeted us asking how was our experience and thanked us for the business. Again, we were in the terminal 5 minutes after leaving the car.I would highly recommend National to anyone asking about car rentals.
I use National car rental pretty exclusively with the company I work for. My experiences outside of National are terrible and full of long waits and breakdowns. National is easy and their prices are extremely fair. Never had a problem with any of the cars I’ve rented. The checkout process is extremely quick which is essential when you’ve just had a long flight. Definitely recommended for avid travelers and new renters alike. Great service
Melissa is the best. She assisted us on a switch out for our rental SUV QX80 we drove down from Boston that had a tire issue. She made the process seamless. Friendly, quick to assist and even ran to lead us out of the garage to show us the exit. Above and beyond any expected service. I would definitely recommend her for a promotion as she naturally understands what customer service is all about. A gem of an employee I would say. Everyone at National is customer service oriented and welcoming. Easy Out and Easy Return. The vehicles are always clean and ready to drive. Needed a Minivan this time and had a choice of at least 8. Usually use the Emerald Aisle which offers a good selection of vehicles. I first rented from National about 10 years ago and instantly became a lifetime user because of the service and quality. The staff at Ft. Myers often includes former residents of the Midwest which results in enjoyable local conversations. We have family in Naples and rent at least 4-5 times a year. Quality and service is consistent every time.
Great experience, the National staff was accommodating, courteous, and professional. The charge on my credit card was exactly what was quoted. There were no hidden charges or surprises unlike other rental car companies!
Fort Meyers national car rental rocks!!It was on a personal trip and not on the company rental policy - had to purchase insurance.Very quick and easy.Loved our car! We picked up a very clean SVU. We went to the beach and brought some back in the car. No issue on the sand inside just big smiles and a please come back.Thanks again National !!!
This is such a convenient National Car rental location, I didn’t need to have a shuttle because it’s just right outside the airport. The attendants are very attentive to approach you and ask what you need. I had a late flight and it was convenient that I don’t need to look for someone to assist. They also gave me a free upgrade which was nice. My only comment would be that they should have a visible sign that Emerald club members could proceed outside right away to avoid the line. I didn’t see that sign right away because it was in the very far end window. Other than though, still a 5 star service.
Update: National reached out to me and they were very understanding and accommodating. Excellent customer service which will have me renting from them again.The customer service was excellent and I was able to get to my car quickly without hassle. Being an emerald club member and able to chose my own car I selected a Chevy Malibu. The car itself was great on gas and provided a nice smooth ride. However, the car smelled terribly of cigarette smoke. I noticed it a bit when getting in and driving away, thinking some time with the windows down might do the trick but it didnt. I shouldve taken the car back but figured the smell might go away. Not only did it not go away, it got worse each day (even the trunk smelled of cigarette smoke). National should have never put this car back in service until a full interior detail took care of that smell. It was God awful! I even tried getting an air freshener at a gas station however that just added to the headache I was already receiving. Ironically whoever drove this car previously did not see the no smoking sticker on the center console?

Rented from National. I was told at National counter that my 24 year old driver (25 next month) would be $15 additional a day. When I got to the booth to check out, I was charged $25 additional per day. I was not very happy with the way this was handled. The agent was not very accommodating and seemed frustrated by my questions. I have been a National customer for almost 10 years and a lot of my loyalty had to do with the customer service. Since Covid, rental prices have increased and almost made renting a car unaffordable and customer service is not at its best. What is the benefit to choosing to remain loyal to National vs. shopping for a cheaper price...and they are out there.
National Ft. Meyers airports was great! The employee that helped me gave us a free upgrade because he could tell we needed some more room for luggage. Thank you so much for being so generous and kind!

All the great reviews for National at RSW- Fort Myers airport are correct. Their process were very competitive- in fact the least expensive, and the personnel were very nice to deal with, although using the Emerald aisle I didnt need to interact with many at all. Their pickup and drop off site couldnt be any better- just cross the street from the baggage carousel and youre there.
The National Car Rental team is always very good, but today they were exceptional. I dropped the car at the airport and headed into the terminal. With only 45 minutes to my flight time, I realized I forgot something in the car. I rushed out, the team jumped into action to get what I left in the vehicle. A wonderful employee named Danielle rushed it over to me from the lost and found. I was able to make my flight. This was simply put, outstanding customer service. Above and beyond for sure. Thank you National Team, and especially Danielle! You’re awesome.
We had not rented from National for a few years but returned to them when we traveled to Florida in June. We had our choice of vehicles and picked the car that met our needs. Car was clean, damage free and staff were very helpful. All their vehicles go through a thorough CoVid cleaning process. We will defiantly rent from National in the future. Highly recommend National!
After we picked up our car on Emerald Isle it took 15 minutes to get to the the person who handles your paperwork. He took twice as long as the other gate person. Then he said he couldnt find our reservation (which we made 2 months in advance). He proceeded anyways, then I tried to show him my email confirmation and he said I dont need it just leave. I told him this is the worst service from National I have ever received. I asked him his name and he refused to give it to me. I told him Im not leaving until I get it and he says Joe after I asked for a manager. Then as person walks over to see what was the hold up him and I told her he wont give us his name and she said his name was Jim. Not sure if we will be using National again.
I rent from National every other week. I have always received courteous and professional service. The Ft Myers crew is top notch.
So this was thee absolute best place to rent a car. I’m not kidding, it is not only a quick & easy process but has very reliable, affordable and outstanding customer service. I go by ratings before I purchase or rent anything so if you choose National you will not be disappointed.

Today I had the best customer experience in quite some time! I’m an Emerald customer and I was picking a car in the aisle, I was too slow and someone else took the car I wanted, so I kept wandering trying to find a similar car until Joe showed up and offered help, I told him about the car, he called in, found that it and went to pick it up and bring the car I wanted! Joe is just amazing, I wish national had a Joe in each location. I can’t remember his last name but I know he is originally from Pittsburgh, half German and off course a Steelers fan, we had a nice chat before checking out! And there is more, the car was brand new, only a few miles on it. What a blessing meeting Joe today! :)

First time using National and the feature of Emerald Aisle.There was no line and huge lines for all the other car rentals...a big plus for me.The counter representative was friendly and cheerful.The price was great.The car was great.Cant wait to use National again.
I have been a customer of National Car Rental for more than a decade. I started my business and hit the road in 2011. After a couple of experiences with the various companies out there, I found that only National was going to make sure I knew how much they valued my business and loyalty. I have met so many wonderful people through my association with National, and I have always said that doing business with them, week in and week out, was like having a friend in a strange town. Although I have written to the CEO of National Car Rental to commend performance above and beyond, I have found that above and beyond seems to be their standard.
National is the way to go. I reserved my car online beforehand, got off the plane, went straight to the garage, hopped in a car, stopped at the exit for a quick check and then drove off. Got a complementary upgrade; fast transaction, couldnt be easier. Prices are good, their system is stream-lined, why go elsewhere? I already reserved a vehicle for my next trip.
I have been an Emerald Club member for nearly 20 years and have used the Emerald Aisle as well as different upgrades to premium and luxury cars. Every time I have used a competitor, such as in a bundled deal with hotel & air, I have been disappointed.Nationals cars are low mileage and almost always have less than 3,000 miles at pickup. They are always clean. The people are consistently customer focused. In fact, the entire experience is consistently excellent and totally convenient. I enjoy being able to bypass the desk, go straight to the Emerald Aisle, pick a car and be on my way. My experience with Hertz #1 status has not ever been better and has always cost more.

National was great and the service was quick and easy. The lost star was for the condition of the car. The Toyota RAV4 had an automatic turn off when breaking, but when it would start back up and kick into gear, there was a bit of a jolt. The seats also had a decent amount of stains on them. Probably not that uncommon in rental fleet these days, but was a little disappointed in the car itself
I’ve been renting with National Car Rental for several years now and the experience has always been seamless and hassle free. I absolutely love the fact that, as an Emerald Club member, I can avoid the counter and walk straight to my car. I also have a choice of which car to take. On top of that, the drop off at the end of my rental period has been very quick and easy. Highly recommend National!
Been an executive level with National for a long time. I usually have good experiences- not the case at this location. I went to the executive aisle to get a large SUV but there were none. Eventually I found a rep who said there were none at time. I said I would wait. She said I want going to get one no matter how long I waited unless I paid and extra $360. I had the family with me and needed room for all of us so I had no choice. Even then they gave me the worst 3 row sub they could find. Not sure I will be using National anymore.
Picking up our rental car at National Car Rental at Ft. Myers Airport was very easy. There were many cars to choose from and the Chevrolet Malibu that I rented was great! It drove and handled fabulously; it was a smooth ride. It had all of the amenities needed. Dropping off the car after one week again at Ft. Myers Airport was also very easy. Everyone at National Car Rental was kind and friendly.
Ft. Myers National location had great staff. Emerald Aisle near fully stocked. Mobile app worked without issue throughout experience. Highly recommend.

Overall good servicePicking the car was not smooth this time . Many cars are being checked out through only one booth. I had a business reservation and the guys at the booth who claimed to be a manger had trouble checking the car out not looking the reservation and going through the DL only. Printer was not working I had to wait for someone to bring the printed contract
Car was awesome. Good value. Need wiper fluid and the interior windows were dirty though.
By far the easiest check in and check out process of all rental car companies. As an Emerald Club member, you walk to the car of your choice and the keys are inside. No up-selling, no multiple questions asked prior to handing over the keys. Highly recommend!
Very quick and easy process. Great prices. The car was not dirty but not clean. I got an email saying I didn’t return the car when I did. I called and they fixed it right away. I’m not super picky so none of this was a huge deal to me but a mention for improvement purposes.
This company is my go to for rentals whenever I travel to Florida they are just incredible even though it’s a self service options a very friendly team is available on site to help you with any questions upgrades and or just a warm welcome!!!
I provided National Car Rental on my first trip in a long time, I was very pleased with the car provided & the service of staff. On my next trip I used another company to save some money, it was a big mistake. On my most recent trip I again returned to National & couldnt have been more satisfied. I will only use the company from now on.
Our experience with National Car Rental was exceptional. We had an extremely quick process upon pickup and returning the vehicle. The entire process flowed so smoothly.
Convenient as always. Selection was really thin. Same model calls I rented from other locations but without “common” features I’m used to getting at my usual rental locations.
Overall, great experience. Being an Emerald Club member makes traveling so much easier....no stopping at booths, staff awaiting at the vehicles ready to help and answer questions. They helped put luggage in the trunk too! Returning was also a piece of cake!

Edit - I increased the star rating after the company got back to me and offered a small credit for the trouble. Damage was done but the gesture was nice.The car smelled of cigarette smoke so bad we needed to drive with the windows down every time we drove somewhere. Being a non smoker this was the worst.Furthermore, we only had one car “option” that was given to us even though we are considered the Executive level and supposed to have multiple options. Because of this, we were stuck with the smelly car.The car return was very simple and easy, but I will never rent from them again.
This day and age, car rentals can be a dicey proposition. Not at National at RSW!I rented an Expedition EX and without a problem actually got an Expedition EX! No fighting, no frustration, no issues. Perfect!
Update: National reached out to me based on this review and offered to reimburse me for the extra gas I had to put in the car since it wasnt full when I picked it up. They did NOT ask me to update this review as a condition of the refund. I feel that they deserve a better review with the complete story.Original Review: I had a 600 mile allowance but was charged about $100 due to an incorrect reading on the outgoing mileage. I only put about 300 miles on the vehicle. This was sorted out at the desk but took a long time. Also, the tank was not full when I picked up the vehicle. I didnt think much of it at the time, but when I filled it up, the needle read significantly past the full line. It was about as much under the full line when I picked it up. Based on the size of the tank, this may have been 5 gallons.
National car rental has the best cars and so convenient. Very enjoyable experience on a recent vacation trip to Florida for 8 days.
I am disappointed in my emerald aisle experience this time. I was told I could not select a 7 passenger vehicle from the aisle unless I paid an extra $15 per day ($195 total) since it was ‘season’. The price I paid when booking was already reflective of ‘season’. Since there were 7 passenger vehicles available, I should have been able to select one without an extra price increase. There were multiple available. I’d like someone to look into this and provide a refund for the extra charge please.

Worst experience on vacation ever. I’m an executive member so I rent a lot. This is the first time I’ve experienced a manager being so rude and not helpful at all. I reserved the full size vehicle I’m required to reserve but can drive any car off the lot which usually includes mini vans and suv. This manager was going to charge me $75/day for a mini van on top of my already contracted rental fee. I have a family of 4 and we had 5 bags. No way to fit them in the limited cars he had on the lot. Finally someone came to help and found us a Jeep Compass which we crammed our bags and kids into. Had to fit one large bag in between my kids in back seat. I understand being busy. I don’t understand being treated so rude by this manager.
I always enjoy renting from National. The cars are clean and ready to go. Personnel are friendly and the prices are great! I love using the pick-your-own service.
Reservations were made 3 weeks prior to trip. Emerald executive elite. We were supposed to walk up to our car and get in and check out. There were NO cars !!!!!! Complete chaos, no one was in charge. The people who rented a car AT THE AIRPORT thought they were in front of people with reservations . 75 plus people were waiting for cars at Fort Meryes airport. Hertz had plenty of cars. We have been loyal to National for over 15 years. This was a terrible way to start a business trip!!!!
I made my reservation months in advance. As an Emerald Club member, upon my arrival to pick out my reserved car, there were literally no cars. They had nothing available. I and several other renters had to wait until previous renters returned cars. I had to settle for whatever car was returned rather than having the ability to choose my vehicle preference. This is unacceptable for how a rental business operates.
No idea if this is for National in general or my experience at RSW but here goes. Im an Emerald Club member and have been renting from National the last two+ years. This was not the best experience. Arrived in RSW, went to get my car from the Emerald Aisle which I booked, no cars at all. No one in the garage to help out, no direction as to what to do. Went inside, gentlemen came out with me and just told me to take one of the Executive Aisle cars which was fine and it was a Nissan Altima. I could see the gross film on the windows it was that dirty. Inside was clean and vacuumed, but take some Glass Plus and a rag to the windows every couple of rentals. I get it, things are busy, COVID blah blah but Im not allowed to use that excuse in my job anymore and neither should you. Ill still rent from National as this is only the second issue Ive ever had with them.
Excellent, I was a little worried when we arrived and there were zero cars parked in the Emerald Aisle. But an attendant quickly went outside and brought one in for us. As always the check out and in procedures were quick ly and efficiently handled.

Nothing but good surprises! When we arrived in Fort Myers with our Emerald Club membership, a National staff person told us we can select a car from the Executive aisle if we would like, so of course we did! We ended up in a brand new Toyota 4Runner and it was the perfect car for our adventure. Thanks National! Pick up was easy and the return was even easier.
There were no cars in the size we requested which was full size. We had to drive a van and the employee could only do what he can. I used to work for enterprise so I understand when things run out. It was all good and if I had to rent again I would do it
One of the major reasons I always used National was because of “The Emerald Aisle”. You paid midsize car price but had a good selection of midsize or larger options. I’m zero value in the aisle anymore so will be exploring other choices.
Had our premuim SUV ready for our Spring Break trip in Fort Myers. Made the vacation go smoothly with the needed room for our luggage. Easy in and out with National. Highly recommend.

This is the worst customer service I’ve ever received. After having written email confirmation from both Priceline and national customer service and also confirming on the phone that I could use a debit card to secure my rental being that I pre paid. I was not able to get the car I reserved and paid for. The employees were rude and unwilling to help from the moment I said my name. Not sure why that man was so rude as I was nice to him. I’ve yet to receive a refund or anything to be done for me.
I was worried after reading reviews but pleasantly surprised. During the check in process, there was no line, they were very polite and they let us pick our car which was very clean and nice. No complaints here. We could not have had a better experience!!!
We have an Emerald Executive membership and reserved a car at RSW a couple weeks ago. When we arrived, there was not a single car in the lot, no one was at the Emerald service desk and a line of 20+ people were waiting in the lot. Other people in line had to tell us that they also had reservations and were waiting for cars to be brought from an external lot. The cars were brought one at a time every 5-10 minutes. It took us nearly 2 hours to get a car with no explanation ever given. I realize there is a shortage, but with known reservations and the eventual delivery of a car it did not seem to be an inventory issue rather a labor staffing or planning issue. This has happened on several occasions at this location and I believe it is more of a management issue.

Everything was good but the car was nite clean. We found pop tarts open and crushed up on the back floor. There was a pink comb in the arm rest. The windows and back seating area was dirty.The pick up and drop off was very smooth and took no time at all.

Everything went well except for the waiting period at the Emerald Aisle. Arrived to find a line of @ 10 parties in front of me, all emerald aisle or executive customers. Cars were backed up for cleaning. It was near the end of Spring break, so understandably busy. Team seemed to be working as quickly as they could and were apologetic and kept us updated. Waited @ 30 minutes, when I’ve never had to wait before. Because of backup, selection of cars were limited to whatever came through the car wash next.
The quality of our auto rented at the Fort Meyers airport was not up to NCR’s normal standards.There were large stains on the ceiling, like someone had spilled coffee (not sure how that would work), and the knob to lay the back seat down was broken off. Generally, not a nice car. I suppose it’s not a good time to be in the rental car business, and they are trying to avoid capital outlay, but I expected better.
Ease of pick up is always great with National. I am an Emerald club member and have been for years. Great team of employees that can assist you with your needs.
A low mileage Toyota SUV vehicle was ready, in great condition and no performance issues. Add to that the outstanding customer service at this Southwest Florida International Airport location and you have a winner.Keep up the good work in these trying times!
Ali and the team at National at RSW went beyond the call of duty to help me with my screw up. Made a reservation for 12:30am the day before I got in on my flight. They worked to help get me into both the cars we needed for our trip and actually saved me some money after all of the problems I caused myself. I’m an Emerald Executive member and my family and I had to wait at least a half hour for a minivan during our most recent rental (3/2021).For some reason, minivans were slow that day and we were third in line. I was disappointed that there was no priority granted to Executive members, faster service is the main incentive for travelers to seek higher tiers in loyalty programs.
The price is ridiculous but so our all rental cars currently, but as a frequent renter…National beats all that I have used…love the pick the car and drive away!

Not good. I accidentally made my reservation for one day after my plane landed. It took me several times on the phone(on hold) to get someone to help me add a day which cost me 6 times the cost of the initial 7 days I reserved a car. I was charged $461 through Priceline and then when I dropping the car off I was charged another $378! I paid for this car twice! I will never use national again
Made an Emerald Isle rental in southern Florida for 9 days, and on day 3 I came out from the grocery store to find my wife (who had been waiting in the car) in tears with two police cars around her. Apparently the car had a stolen license plate- and we needed to prove that we weren’t the thieves! In this moment, I really, really, needed to get ahold of National to get them to talk to the police- but got placed on hold for so long I have up. For 2 and a half hours we wasted our Saturday afternoon baking in the hot sun while the police sorted things out. I again tried to call National and wasn’t able to get them on the line. At drop off I complained- and they knocked one day of my 9 day trip... hardly fair.
Rented a car (SUV) for a week at Fort Meyers Airport in Florida. Excellent Emerald Club selection of vehicles with easy access and return. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

Having an executive status and paying a price premium, I expected a much better vehicle selection, condition/edge and cleanliness/preparation - definitely a significant downgrade from where the intent was at the start.
