We were a party of four and even though Hank didnt do my nails I was envious of the service my daughter got. He started on her about 15 min before the got me with my nail specialist and even though we ordered the same service mine was done 5 min quicker. Hank did an awesome job and he was very personable and connects with customers. As soon as we told him we were from Kansas he kept us entertained while he did his job. I highly recommend him. Service was great

BAD FIRST IMPRESSION...I called to inquire about nail services and was greeted by an unfriendly person who answered the phone. Not pleasant to talk to at all.She was short with me except when it was time to tell me about the upcharge (if I wanted it).They must treat their existing clients with much more grace & respect than potential new ones.I will not be one of them.

They have a huge sign saying walk ins welcomed yet when I went in I had to wait 10 mins for receptionist to acknowledge me and when I said I wanted a hair cut she said no appointment available for 2 weeks. I found it odd that I have to wait when there was not a soul in sight or anyone waiting for a cut in the shop!Did not feel welcomed and would never go there again!

I always love this salon. Got my granddaughters hair cut today. Wonderful cut and style. Very friendly & clean salon with COVID 19 precautions in place.

My sweet husband was kind enough to surprise me with 2 gel mani/pedi with paraffin wax for my feet. He got one of their deals on groupon and made me an appointment for the next day.. I was so excited! Well.. that was not the case after I left. The lady that did my nails, did a HORRIBLE job, skipped the wax all together and the whole thing took an hour and 48 minuets.. I had gel pooling in the corners of my nails, all over my skin.. it was just really bad.. I know I have short nails, but Ive never had work this bad done before.. I didnt say anything to them about it because she took soooo long to do my nails that I just wanted to leave and because while I was there, a woman wanting to get her hair done left, and when she did they all just started talking about her and laughing. I didnt want to be next.. Even though my husband paid for 2 mani/pedi, HE didnt even want me to go back for the second one, but neither did I...I would never recommend this place to anyone..

My boyfriend bought me a coupon off Groupon to get a mani and pedi here. I had gel nails prior to coming here. I expected to get a fill but I had to pay an extra $20 to get a fill since gel was not included in the price which I was not aware of. My tech had a slight attitude at first. She removed the gel from my toes and redid them with regular polish which I wouldve preferred to not have happened. She also cut the skin on my finger which was very painful and took a week to heal. I only came here because my boyfriend bought me the coupon. I will continue going to the salon that I originally have been going to from now on.

This is the best salon that I ever had gone to there is nothing that Debbie Nail Tech cannot do she’s awesome in every way!!!!! Not to mention Darlene my hair stylist!! I give them both a ten STARS👍👍

I received 2 sea-salt manicures and water-less pedicures with paraffin wax treatment as a birthday gift from my daughter for both of us to share. Two weeks ago, my daughter called to schedule an appointment and made sure to clarify that we were going to be using a groupon voucher. She called and requested two appointments for manicure and pedicure each. Today, the scheduled day, my daughter and I arrived at the business in order to get our service. We were greeted by a very unpleasant lady who did nothing but give us excuses as to why the two of us couldnt get our service; she also stated the appointment was for one manicure and one pedicure for two different customers. The lady, who I assume was the owner, stated she was the only one working there on Saturdays which leads me to believe, the person I dealt with today was the same person scheduling the appointments the day my daughter called. Even after scheduling, she could not provide service for the original appointment my daughter had made.My daughter mentioned that she had the lady who took the appointment repeat the details of the appointment before hanging up. After the lady stated that the groupon voucher was for only one persons use, we decided that I was going to get the manicure and pedicure; and yet being 10:30 am, and her mentioning she had another scheduled appointment at 12:00pm, she refused the service by stating that in order for me to use the groupon voucher it had to be a single service and not a double.In my opinion she invited us to leave, knowing that she still gets the money through the groupon voucher even without providing the service. She also mentioned that the person who scheduled the appointment had made this mistake before. Although, my daughter remembers that when she called to make the appointment, the person who she spoke to mentioned that she was the only one working on Saturdays. At no time, did she even try to accommodate us or assist us in either resolving the misunderstanding or providing the service.

People are very nice, great color, but dont go there for a blow dry.

I must say I am severely disappointed. I have been happily going to this salon for years and after the covid scare was thrilled to get back and made an appointment. Only to have my hair stylist Darlene call and tell me that the normal pricing I have been paying has increased due to covid. I expected some increase but she told me the $75 I was usually paying got her in trouble with the owner and she would have to charge me $160. I am unfortunately having to find another hairdresser because I cannot pay almost double what I was as a disabled woman unable to work full time. I hope the business survives but I dont see how it can with these business practices. Darlene was a great hair stylist and Im sad the owner has caused her to lose business in these difficult times. Seems like greed to me.

Wow! Sign said walk in haircuts so I went in. I see 3 ladies, no customers. Two were chatting with eachother looked at me and went to the back room. The 3rd was on the phone so I waited and looked at their products. After about a solid 5 mins and realizing the lady was on the phone with her friend I looked at her. She gave me the wait a minute finger so I paused. Finally, one of the ladies that went to the backroom came out gave me a weird look and asked do you need something? I was like yea a haircut? Then she actually said, we have no hairstylists. They were so rude and that was so ridiculous, I just walked out.

Terrible operation that does NOT guarantee their work. Absolutely destroyed my wifes hair! She went in asking for a full color with highlights, instead received a full color (that was too, too dark) with low-lights! The service was performed by Kristin (unsure of the spelling), and when my wife contacted her about her disatisfaction with the end result, Kristin argued with her rather than trying to fix the mess. Then, the manager, Dani (who happens to be the owners daughter) also argued and refused to fix my wifes hair. I personally went to the owner and showed her what I was going to post about her company and the way my wife was treated. Guess what she did? She laughed! She had no regard for customer satisfaction and apparently doesnt think her customer base can read. Honestly, you can find more professionalism at a flea market (right Dani?)! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS IF YOU EXPECT A SATISFACTION GUARANTEED END RESULT!

Went in for a pedicure. The polish never dried. I think she used gel paint. Had to take it off after a few hours. Following day I discovered I had swelling on my toe, near my nail. Went to doctor, they suspect I got it from the salon. Still trying to heal the infection, its been over a month!

I have read some of the previous negative reviews on here and they are so wrong I LOVE Mermaid Salon & Day Spa, the atmosphere and people there are AWESOME I always get top service when I am there and HIGHLY recommend this establishment to any one who wants top quality service and affordable prices. Mermaid Salon provides excellent Hair Care and every Manicure & Pedicure you can imagine. Debbie is the best nail technician I have ever had, and Kathy, the Owner, is not only a wonderful stylist but a warm, happy and inviting person.

Got a mani and pedi, the nail tech was nice but when I asked for a color she said it was ugly and chose her own that she wanted to use. She cut my toe and it was bleeding and she just ignored it. I cant get the gel off my nails half a month later. Will not recommend and will not go again.

Stylists are talentes. However they love to smoke. I am very sensitive to smell of smoke and tobacco products so I could barely manage to get rest of treatment done. They took smoke break while I was under the dryer. When it was time to wash my hair I had to hold my breathe. Left with beautiful hair but a pounding headache and a huge bill. Had a groupon than said hair was so thick and exra long charged an extra $125. My hair is only to my shoulders.

Drove all the way from Punta Gorda- got caught in a rain storm and traffic called to say we would be late, we were 15-20 min late - no one else in the salon. We made an appointment a week out & they told us because there was someone else coming at 4pm, that my mom n I had to.pick 1 thing to be done and come back for the other ! WE LIVE AN HOUR AWAY & TOLD THEM THAT. they had 4 people doing NOTHING, I can think of 2-3 things right away where they could accommodate us but no one - 3 ladies behind the counter and 1 man standing there wanted to bend. Will let everyone know about this. I understand there are other appointments but we were right in front of them & all they could offer was pick 1 thing, a mani or a pedi & come back for the other. ? Life happens..... not everything can happen on time....

They did a very nice job with my mani. But the pedi I was not satisfied. I was informed they do not soak the feet which I was open minded on trying something new she told me she would take the calluses off with special filing tools. My feet where put in wax whipped off and painted that was it. The bottom of my feet are still extremely ruff like I didnt even get a pedi very unhappy about that. If your not going to soak you should tell them u cant make your feet soft. Will not go back for a pedi!!!!

Its where i get my cuts and Id recommend to anyone to get theres here too! Fun, chill, laid back place with great prices for men and women!

I too purchased the Groupon for Mermaid Salon and Day Spa. However I let it expire so I could only use the purchase price toward my services. I was not at all disappointed though!! On my first visit I had a mani and pedi. Danie did an awesome job and didnt overdo the services. I LOVE the fact that she doesnt cut my cuticles. She uses a shellac polish that has actually strengthened my nails. I will continue to go to the Mermaid!!

I had an amazing mani/pedi at Mermaid Salon and Spa. The owner Kathy gave one of the best pedicures I have ever had. The scrub they use is to die for!!! Also Danielle gave me an amazing manicure with one of their new colors from OPI. It was perfect! Overall they are great people and I cant wait to go back :)

We had HORRIBLE service, and manis/pedis. The women were overbooked, grouchy, and one cut my mother making her bleed. Didnt file down toe nails for my mom, her toes never dried-smeared mess

I had a haircut that the owner, Kathy claimed she knew how to do from a photo she selected herself. I advised here that I didnt want it short and to leave an extra inch to allow the curling effect when dried. After she was done the haircut was too short and uneven on all side and in the back. When I showed her that there was unevenness and she chopped a chunk in the front that was obvious to normal eye she claimed apparently I never had that type of cut. Which I have had on numerous occasions but you know how those Know It Alls try to defend their lack in knowledge and skill! Then she quoted one price at the register and her receptionist added more money claiming that the owner didnt know her own pricing.The cut is a disaster and my mother was a cosmetologist for many years so growing up in that environment, I know what to look for. She gave me no staggered layers in the back just a cap effect that doesnt follow the highlights and she left one area where the highlights are longer than the others and makes it even more obvious of the crooked cut. I will never use this salon for their obvious lack of skill and their unethical charging practices. Apparently if they think you have money when you pull out your Amex they think they can abuse the members privileges! Im also reporting them to AMerica Express as well.I would give them half a star if I could!

Excellent service and a great price

If there was an option to put negative stars I WOULD. I didnt even make it through the doors. The morning of my appt, something came up and I had to reschedule unfortunately so when i called, she mentioned a $15 rescheduling fee, which btw she says is on groupon and I dont see it but anyway she was so rude on the phone and HUNG UP ON ME!!!! NOT ONCE BUT 3 TIMES. The first time she hung up on me I called back willing to still pay the fee even after her horrible costumer service. She was really sarcastic when I asked her If I could please speak to the owner, she said sweetie, I am the owner VERY RUDLY. She didnt care at all about her clients or her business. Finally, she declined to even give me an appt so I LOST MY MONEY AND THEY WONT REFUND ME the money that I paid them for their service, which i never got. I actually got horrible service plus being hung up on 3 times!!! DONT EVER GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE. THEY WILL RUIN YOUR DAY OR TRY TO TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY.

I purchased a groupon for a mani/pedi, which is why I went to this salon to begin with. Upon arrival, Dani was a breath of fresh air. She was very nice, upbeat and super easy to talk to. I tried the gel on my fingers and got the French pedicure. Loved the gel and the color. Cant wait for my next mani/pedi, which is today!

I never even made it through the doors. i recently purchased a groupon for 3 mani & pedis which i thought was an awesome deal. i called the mermaid salon to make an appointment and the woman i spoke to took down my name and phone number and gave me an appointment for a thursday at 12 noon but she stated she would have to call me back because the computers were down.. this was at about 10am.. at 3:30 i still had not received a call back so i figured i would call again. the woman who answered the phone spoke to me like she was raised in a barn, a real animal. poor customer service would be a compliment for her. she had no knowledge of who i was and said nothing was written down.. stated she did not know who i spoke with in the morning and was annoyed when i told her the girl didnt ask me for my last name i just gave her my first name and phone number. she then stated she did not have any available appointments for that week and could not give me an appointment until the end of the following week because they were all booked. i live right around the corner from this salon and i pass it 4 times a day to and from work and the parking lot is always empty as if they have no business at all and for a place to give such a great deal on groupon i would assume they were trying to advertise because of lack of business. this animal actually laughed on the phone after i asked her if i could speak with the manager as if i was a joke and then stated she was the manager. i would love to meet the owner of this establishment. if the employees lack in the customer service skills department then i can only imagine what the owner is like. i will be reporting this place to the better business bureau. this salon should be shut down. i now know why the parking lot is ALWAYS empty. i called groupon right away and got a refund!!!

Worse pedicure and manicure ever! My toes looked like they had been painted on with a broom .... nails (shellac) peeled off the following day. Very rude and unprofessional when I complained.
