This is exactly what we were looking for! Our 13 yr old has always had a hard time focusing and has a lot of energy.Mr. Oyamada teaches the class himself and does a fabulous job of not only instructing in technique, but instilling a level of respect from his students that he expects them to display in class as well as in the world.Each class ends with him speaking to them about real-life situations they may face in their daily lives at school, bullying, out with friends, etc. He instructs them how to be confident in these situations and shows them techniques for fighting off and escaping from people that may be trying to hurt them.We love it here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality experience for their child.

My daughter has been going to Oyamada Karate of Davie for 3years now. At the time we signed her up, we never in a million years knew how much of an effect it would have on her. She is a high functioning Asperger child, and had greatly struggled with coordination and confidence before she joined. The progress she has made in not just her physical abilities, but also in her personal life are just beyond words. She is now goal driven and puts no limits on herself when it comes to working her tail off for something. Although I would love to take credit for that, I have to attribute a lot of it to the motivation that has come from her Sidekicks instructors and family. They are AMAZING. They truly care about our daughter and are the most encouraging, caring, loving group of individuals that one could ask for. They go above and beyond to help her learn. I watch what my daughter can do now and I literally stand in amazement thinking back on her struggles before Sidekicks. I cant put into words the extent of the gratitude I have for this school. It is literally the best thing that has ever happened to her. Thank you Master Oyamada!

Sensei Oyamada is excellent! He takes his time to really teach his students, not only martial arts, but also skills that will help them in any lifetime situation. This he does well, specially with his younger students. He teaches them discipline, respect, and self control as well as self defense. He is very kind and really wants you to learn and succeed. I am taking his adult kickboxing class and my nephew and niece take the martial arts class. We are all very happy with his method of teaching and how awesome as a person he is.
