Easily the best mechanical shop in Fort Collins. I personally worked with Dell who took real good care of me. If you’re looking to go cheap or a quick fix this isn’t your place. Done once, done right… but you’re going to pay for it.

I brought a Chevy c7500 topkick in to get emissions tested. Houska was cheaper than any other places around for emissions testing, and they got me in right away. I had them check my tires and brakes for a long trip, with the impression that I needed 2 tires. They were very honest and informative with what I needed, and didn’t try to upsell me on anything, even though they easily could’ve. Highly recommend this shop, as well as Spencer for any commercial service or advice.

You guys are the best and just one FYI. I used the online appointment request form for the first time. I requested a 10am appointment for emissions testing and my confirmation email failed to mention the time actually scheduled was 10:30 according to the nice gentlemen who checked me in. I forgot to bring my iPhone which had my email request so I never mentioned the appointment time change as I checked in. Accuracy is important especially if the time change had been more than 30 minutes. No big deal this time as I had the time to spend and always a nice environment to spend it in. You guys rock!

I stopped in for an emissions test on my diesel truck, knowing it took an appointment. They said if I left it they would get it done, I could not leave it, so they made an appointment for me on Saturday the next. Who knew that was even an option. Friendly, happy, helpful, and willing. This is a great business to deal with.

I was visiting Fort Collins (from Texas) and noticed fluid leak from my truck on the driveway. I had known of Houskas for many years as many of the staff came into the the grocery store where I worked 40 years ago and trusted them. Although they were very busy,, the technician took a quick look at my truck and had me pop the hood. It turned out to be condensation from my A/C dripping onto the grime of my undercarriage. He suggested I might want to change my cabin filter. I made it back to Texas with no issues. Great people in 1978 and great people now.

Houska worked on my EFE valve to turn off the engine light. Picked up the vehicle and the engine light was still on. They had not connected the the lead to the sensor all the way. Quick fix, but irritating.

I appreciated the calls ahead of the work for approval, and the explanation of what was needed and why. Didnt try to sell what we didnt need (ie. One wheel bearing bad, not all 4). Professional, courteous, and work completed on schedule.

Got oil changes done here for years and they were great but they recently quoted us $2300 to change a clutch and had the nerve to hold our car hostage until we paid the $140 inspection fee.. We were the ones that told them we needed a new clutch and just wanted a quote. Other shop did it for $800. Can no longer recommend.

Houska is one of the most trustworthy automotive businesses in Fort Collins. They are not the cheapest, but they do a great job and do not take advantage of you. Everyone is friendly and efficient and I appreciate their attention to detail.

Ive found Houska employees to be honest fair, and timely. I have an old car that needed a new radiator system and some other hoses replaced back in September 2020. They did an excellent job. This time (March 2021) I came in for an oil change and they checked my battery as a courtesy. They clarified it was still working and I could wait--no upselling. But I knew the battery was close to dying so I chose to have it replaced. And they knew what kind of oil change would help my car--a combination of high mileage regular and some synthetic. Prices are reasonable. I like doing business with them.

Now here is a huge diamond in the rough. I literally never heard of Houska tire and service before I was reference there from 4rivers equipment. I was able to obtain some very odd tires and rims that Im sure, I would have had to wait at least 2 to 3 days. Great up front customer service, great over the phone experience you can tell the guys know their product. The tech Justin was awesome! Flipping tires with water in them with no regard just old school Hustle. Attention to detail by laying out a mat once he was ready to mend the tires to the rim, as to not get any contaminants inside the tire. Quality control by buffing out the inner rims that may have leaked because of corrosion build up. I had a good time going to Houska Tire and Service and would recommend them to anybody looking for anything related to a tire! They also have two other huge shops for servicing bigger equipment trucks Etc. I specifically was looking for backhoe tires, skid steer tires and a rim. I sense been back 2 more times. Service only gets better Justin is still flipping tires and the prices are very competitive. I expected to pay more just because of the urgency of my needs. That was not the case, big store competitive pricing great customer service what else do you need.

I called around and got price quotes for a new set of tires from about 10 different companies. I wanted to go with Houska from the beginning but they were in the top 3 of the most expensive. However, after a few conversations with the lovely Vittoria and some price matching, it was decided I was getting my new tires from Houska! On top of that my drivers side rear tire was flat and I did everything in my power including going door to door asking a dozen neighbors if they had a compressor and I got nowhere! Vittoria was able to send a tech out and fill up my tire so I could get it to the shop! I would recommend Houska to anyone who wants a company that will go above and beyond!! They Fixed a button that didnt seem to be working by shoving a shim in it. And calling it fixed. Ive many stories of stuff like this about houska, well I guess its true. Houska will take your money and fix your vehicle. If thats how they fix some things, makes you wonder about the rest of tour vehicle

I’m always happy and feel secure leaving Houska.This time around the goal was to fix a squeak on the passengers side, which I assumed was the breaks.I assumed it was the breaks and decided to go with the only mechanics I trust.They did their analysis, claimed the noise was a wheel bearing. Since they earned their trust with me I trusted them to fix it to get rid of the squeaky noise. They did claim it was a safety hazard and I’m happy they fixed it.When I picked up the vehicle it was still squeaking. They accepted the truck once again and found that the breaks the reason that squeaking

Went in for diesel emissions...they were the only place willing and able to get us in some day...and did a VIN verification for us too...real friendly and easy going...cleanest shop Ive been to....then they did an oil change and replaced my fuel filters same day as well...which was a major bonus since I dont have a lot of free time to go back and forth for vehicle maintenance....and a Starbucks and several restaurants were about a block away....This is where Ill be taking MY truck from now on!!!

The staff at Houska are always friendly, professional, and timely. My oil change is always done in 20-30 minutes.. as promised. Im not left waiting for hours as Ive experienced at *many* other places. They also have a rewards system for oil changes, and when they noticed I had several services without getting punches (because I kept forgetting my card :)), they gave me a new card and an extra punch. Great team. Great service.

I had a coolant leak in a VW TDi. I went to Houska because I was told they have mechanics that work on diesels. I was hoping it was a coolant reservoir problem, but it ended up being a water pump. Not only did they fix the car, Toby worked with my after market extended warranty to cover a large portion of this expensive repair. They didn’t just replace the water pump but went the extra mile to replace the timing belt and tensioners for good measure since the were in the engine. I felt confident about the repair and will be taking my other vehicles to them as well.

I had the check engine light come on for the fuel filler tube and related system and Houska replaced a valve. The check engine light came on again for the same reason about a month later and they diagnosed the issue and replaced the gas cap for no charge. The second fix was professional and handled well but the first part that got replaced was way overpriced - it was an $80 part and I was charged almost $300 for the part alone. I do appreciate Houskas willingness to fix the issue and their customer service.

The dealer was able to replace both low beams the same day for 1/3 of the cost I was quoted at Houska, which is why I canceled my appointment. My previous experiences at Houska were very good, so this price difference was very surprising.

I brought two vehicles in to have them inspected. One was my current car, which they found needed quite a bit of work (which was expected) and were honest about what work needed to be done.I ended up buying a used car and they gave it a thorough inspection and found some issues that I was able to have the dealer fix before I purchased.Will use them again in the future!

UPDATE: 8/25/21 - I had another very successful repair experience with Houskas after 3 disappointing experiences with Denver-area diesel specialists. A lot of diesel repair places and newer techs are afraid to work on older units. They want to be able to plug in an OBD-2 reader, have the machine tell them what to do, and just do only that. There is no thinking or common sense involved. Either that or they just want to be installing lift kits, off-road lights and light bars, and oversize mudder tires. If you want a real diesel repair shop, Houskas will do it, and theyll be up front with you all the way.********************I live 90 miles away fm Houskas and still make the drive to have my 94 Ford E350, 4x4, 7.3l diesel van serviced there. Ive done this twice for separate maintenance and repair items (I wanted to separate the items to spread out the cost). They are that good. I wanted this vehicle mechanically sound and now it is. They sourced OEM parts, checked for any other problem areas, and always kept me updated on progress and cost. There were no surprises either time.There are a lot of service garages that run scared facing vehicles much more than 10-15 years old. Not Houskas. Their techs have the experience, the service managers have been forthright and up front with me, the service quality has been excellent, and the prices have been fair - right in line with what I researched and expected.Like Arnold, Ill be back. 😎

My buddy and I took our old car here, very close to my house. And I thought they had a good reputation. They just quoted me $400 to replace 2 bushings, and on top of that told me the headlights didnt work because they didnt see the switch. I do not recommend anyone take their vehicle here

I took my 17 Toyota 4Runner in to have the headlights, fog lights and interior lights switched over to LEDs. They did a great job at a reasonable price. I would use them again.

They helped me quickly and for a good price. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because the front desk associate was kind of unprofessional. Maybe she was having a bad day but it was uncomfortable to watch.

Summary: 2 visits, over $1k spent, and Houska was not able to fix a simple issue.Came in the first time with an issue with my car turning off while driving. They checked batteries and other components and found nothing after 3 days. Took the car back and ended up stranded on I-25 a few days later with the same issue. Had it towed in and they resolved one issue. A few days after taking my car back after the second visit it died again. I did not return to Houska. Another mechanic was able to find a loose battery cable and tightened it. I’ve had no problems since.

What amazing service, even before we were official customers!! My daughter is a CSU student and we live 2 hours away. I messaged the shop after hours about my daughters car leaking ALOT of fluid, and to see if she could get in first thing the next morning.Jon immediately texted back and troubleshooted with us over the next hour. He suggested that she stop by the next morning to make sure everything was ok.This was her first solo trip to a mechanic. Everyone was very friendly and took great care of her. They determined there was no repair to be done, topped off her fluids and sent her on her way, no charge!Jon texted me again that morning with an update and let me know that she was safely back on the road.We will definitely be returning whenever her car needs service while in Ft. Collins!

Said they could figure out the problem with my disabled fathers car, charged him for diagnosis of the issue, didnt fix anything, and i had to call a tow truck just to get it off the lot.
