These guys are bad business they say they are experts but there counterflashing job they did could have bean dune better by 7-11 day labors they did not even install counterflashing they said they did but when it leaked I got on the roof and saw there was not any counterflashing just a bunch of tar slop all over the base flashing hear are some picks I took .dont trust these guys they lie like snakes.

The service we received was better than I expected. Totally awesome. We had a gas fireplace that we had never been able to use. The wall switch did nothing. If all we got was a fireplace that worked, I would been extremely happy. After they came out, they took the fireplace apart, diagnosed the problem and were able to fix it at a very reasonable price that was much lower than I expected. They could have told me anything and I would have believed it, but they are very honest with their work. At that point I was already happy, but they went on to fully clean the whole unit and even added some extra embers that glow while the fireplace is on. I would highly recommend their service.

Weve had them come out to our home several times, and they always leave the house better than they found it. Very pleased with my experience. The service tech ended up coming early, which I was happy about. I watched the entire process. He was very careful to lay down fabric before sitting down his equipment. He covered my furniture and anything in the vicinity. The process was quick and easy. This is the first time Ive needed a chimney/fireplace tech ever, so I didnt know what to expect. With that being said, Vincent was very knowledgeable about our gas fireplace, how to fix some basic issues, and how to maintain it. He kept the work space clean and cleaned it up when he was done. Highly recommend. OH and when he mentioned that they do dryer vent cleaning, I took him up on that while he was here (since I didnt know if this 2013 home ever had it done before).

I thought the tech did a great job. I would mention him by name but I dont want to put anyone on the net without their consent. I will say this, I am just moving into our new home (New to us-older home) and want it to be ready. He gave me a detailed understanding of what our chimney was needing and what I could do to improve it for the future. Very person and polite.

Great on the second appointment.(The first scheduled appointment they were a no-show, no-call, even though their automated text service kept sending reminders and asking for confirmation)The second scheduled appointment had no text reminders :) BUT Ben called when he was on his way and arrived on time. He tried to troubleshoot and attempted two alternate (and cheaper) fixes before arriving at the true problem. He had a replacement part on his truck and I was back up & running in 90 minutes.1st Choice Chimney came well recommended and performed a great repair, and seem to be trying to provide better customer service leading up to the repair visit.

I ended up not needing 1st Choice Chimney services but I did want to leave a comment on the service I received. I had to get the starter log replaced in the gas fireplace I have and Mario was amazing to work with. At first I had no idea what part I needed to replace or the name of the part. Mario took the time to research and gave me practical options since what I needed to do was something I could do safely. A few other companies I called were trying to take advantage of my inexperience and charging over $300 for services and parts I didn’t need. I highly recommend working with 1st Choice Chimney!

These guys have been to my house and cleaned my chimney several times. Theyve always shown up on time and been professional and courteous. One time they showed me where some of the concrete panels needed to be replaced to make sure my fireplace was safe. It wasnt cheap but I felt like we needed it done. They did the job quickly and didnt leave a mess and my fireplace looks great. Its good to know that safety is the primary concern for this company. It looks to me like the only complaint people have is that they didnt get a call back. If this is their biggest flaw then I think I can live with that to have a company I can trust.

1st Choice Chimney was contracted to do an inspection of my chimney in preparation for a corporate relocation. Per the terms of my relocation agreement, anything they said needed to be repaired I am required to pay for out of pocket to fix. The inspector said the repairs needed were very minor.When my relocation company gave me the report, it stated the cap, crown, and liner all had to be replaced. I contacted 1st Choice for a quote, which came back as $5978.59. This does not seem minor to me.When I tried to contact them to get an explanation of why a liner is needed for a gas fireplace the puts out less than 150* of heat at the gas log with no open flame, they said they were unable to discuss the details with me and referred me back to my relocation company. My relocation company are not chimney specialists, so they could not offer much help. On top of this, they sent me an email a day with the quote and a link to schedule. I dislike being lied to by the inspector and the refusal to discuss why that amount of work was warranted. I am having to pay another company a $150 inspection fee to get answers to resolve this mess.

We have had Brian now two different times and he is amazing. First came out to clean our chimney and get it all ready for the winter! Cortina arrived on time with everything she needed to do the job. She was personable and both my wife and I were impressed with her skill and attention to detail. She made no attempt to up sell us but she had some colored glass which we have long wanted for the fireplace. That was the only additional cost and it was entirely reasonable. She took a lot of time to arrange everything so that the fire is warmer and more attractive than ever. A completely positive service which we appreciate very much.

Biggest joke for a company!!! The technition they sent not only knew nothing, was hard to understand and was rude not to menchion he smelled of old stale cigarettes. Only after money they do not care about workmanship.

The tech was on time for the appointment and was very friendly. He had only been with the company 4 months but he seemed comfortable in his trade. The sweep was really quick and fast (app 40 mins). I did not see any before or after videos or pics so I couldnt tell you how much soot was there or how clean my fireplace is right now.

I called many chimney sweeping companies. I was very impressed with 1st Choice Chimney. They have reasonable prices and the quality of service was excellent.

I made my appointment, answered all the relevant questions at that time, and it was a train wreck at every turn after that. Wrong technician for my service sent out. Manger involvement and another technician sent out. When I asked about the services that were supposed to be included in my service the finger pointing began. The explanation from the second technician was that the manger was new and didn’t understand what was to be included in the call, the first technician should have done the job, and the scheduler always screws up our calls. Sound like a company you can feel confident in? I left a message for the owner to call me and as of yet I have not heard a word. Anyone this oblivious to how badly organized their own company is should be lucky to have any business at all.

One of the worst experiences Ive ever had with a contractor. I hired them on 1/2/18 and fired them today, 2/12/18. This is a very long story spanning over 6 weeks. There is not enough space to relate all of the details, but here are the main issues:- No-show on the first call.- After the cleaning, technician did NOT call me with results of cleaning and investigation.- I then talked to Melissa to get the information I needed. She did NOT call me back.- I then talked to Mary who got me in touch with the technician.- I talked to the technician, Christian. He said the damper was not repairable.- I asked Christian to call me with gas log and new door options. He said he would call.- He did NOT call back.- I fired 1st Choice and hired another contractor. He told me that he COULD fix the damper.- He also went on the roof to inspect the chimney and found a rag in the chimney. Really!- Unbelievably poor communications plus poor service. Amazing!

I had specific service details that we wanted for our 1 year old gas log set and I went over these with the office personnel before scheduling an appointment with 1st Choic Chimney. I was assured that their service technicians would clean and check the placement of the gas logs, as well as check the chimney and the gas lines etc. before the start of the winter season.When the technician came; all he did was visually check the new gas line and tell us that everything was good because this was a new gas log set. He said that the service call did not allow him to do anything else and he was sorry that the office attendant gave us all the wrong information. He was very nice but the service was really nothing and it cost us $162!!! Never again for 1st Choice Chimney. They should train their office personnel who answer customer calls a lot better. Very disappointed.

I have used 1st Choice Chimney several times from a dryer vent cleaning, Chimney cap, gas log conversion and Chimney cleaning and inspection. They showed up on time, called before they came, cleaned up after they were done and were a great set of guys to work with. I would HIGHLY recommend using 1st Choice Chimney!

Caution here. If you ask for and get Jim as your Project Manager you will get great wrk, expertise and results. However, Jim will probably end up doing most of the work himself, accordingly the project will start later than you think and last longer. On my project Jim was great! Unfortunately his team lasted only two days and they didnt know what they were doing when they were here. They also came and went whenever they chose without letting me know. They left doors open, equipment in the yard and driveway overnite.Cigarette butts all over the place and never cleaned up after themselves. Jim however did.Finally while I dont believe management had bad intentions it was very clear that they did not know the business, management basics or even the regulations governing their business.I did get a good result but not without a lot of conversations, homework with the state and mostly the talent and work ethic of Jim the project manager(who also did most of the work himself and had go come back and fix the things his team screwed up).Greg

I hired First Choice to replace three pieces of wood siding on my chimney that had been chewed through by animals. These three pieces were on the bottom of the back side of the chimney on the roof. While the repairs have not been tested, technician Erik Thompson did an excellent job with the aesthetics of the repairs, and I feel pretty confident the new boards will add several years to the life of my chimney until I will need to install siding throughout the exterior of my home. Mr. Thompson also removed a great deal (we guessed it was a 2 foot thick nest) of dead carcasses of bees, wasps, yellowjackets, and who knows what else. Finally, after completing all the necessary prerequisites, he was able to perform a typical chimney sweep and cleaning. He tested my gas connection and made recommendations for setting up sand, embers, and rocks under my ceramic logs. Throughout the entire process, which took the better part of a day, Erik was very friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled for the tasks presented to him. I felt the prices for the services provided were reasonable and in line with competitors. I also had the pleasure of speaking with one of the co-owners, Jeff, prior to scheduling my service. I provided him with an inspection report that detailed the issues we spotted during the pre-purchase inspection and he was able to quickly provide me with a price quote via email. These guys are a joke. 1st they want 100 bucks to give an estimate. We had bought a chimney Cap from m&m manufacturing and they said it was wrong. They charged us $1,000 for a new one and then smoke was still coming up in the house. So they said it was the damper at that point which it was the damper the whole time so we had to spend an additional thousand dollars on a cap that we did not need. These guys are a joke go find somebody else

So, I buy a gas log set and only after, realize Im not going to be able to install it. After taking a good look at the condition of the gas pipe that I was going to have to remove to install the new log set, I realized I was already in over my head, although admittedly, I gave it an honest try. I found 1st choice online. There are several places that will only install the logs if you buy them from their company. Not a bad business practice to have, but that doesnt help the person thats in my situation, at all. The call to schedule the appointment was short and sweet and the guys came out and did an excellent job. At some point, they should allow the ability to attach a photo to reviews because I think it does them more justice. Im not Mr Fixit, so Ive had work done around the house on several occasions over the years and this is definitely money well spent, and well earned. They actually exceeded my expectations, and not just in the installation of the log set but also by doing some things that improve the overall experience (i.e. making the gas key easier to turn). Anyway, thanks to Marshall (and co.) for the great experience. You definitely have my recommendation.

I wasnt even there and I have to give a 5 star review. My wife told me how the technician came out to our home and went above and beyond what we asked of him. All I needed was for him to come and connect a gas pipe for our new gas logs in our fireplace. Instead, he got extra parts he had in his truck and installed the entire log set up. He even went and got some lava rocks to make it look better. I was wondering why he did so much but the main thing I take from this is they want your future business as well. They have mine.

We purchased a new home and are trying to sell our existing home. The inspector found some cracks in the stucco in the chimney and I called 1st Choice. I told them we were under contract and in the option period and needed an estimate for the buyer by 5pm on Saturday.This is Monday and I have not heard anything from them. Sunday evening I went on the back porch and found the notebook for the estimator that was out on Friday. With the rains we had, the notebook is not salvageable. The only reason this is a 1 and not a zero is the estimator did come out and look at it.

I have had First Choice Chimney out for several different things. Eric replaced and cleaned two gas fireplaces and they look great! He explained the problems and the best solutions and carried out his job site professionally. Our heatalator is finally working thanks to Robert and Jim. They discovered a flue problem which accounted for the heatalator going out after a time because of air flow! They put a new fixture on the flue and now it is working well. These two men solved the problem, explained it and fixed it. Quite happy with heir service although some problems with getting them out in a timely manner. Of course who really needed their fireplaces this warm winter?
