Yes place is very clean, but it’s more like a boot camp or cult for the homeless. Very rude and they make sure you know they are better than you. Ms. Brittany was great. Other than that me and my kids will sleep in a car before staying at this place any longer! 0 stars if I could! All I can say is good luck!
This place was beautiful I felt safe n sound beds were clean and comfy the whole entire place is spic n span this is the most beautiful shelter I’ve seen in flint the staff are sweet and understanding and the programs gives you enough time to get on your feet they have great meals n beautiful church sessions this is the greatest shelter ever
Is a helping hand for the people of Geneses county and surroundings ares. To God be the Glory!!!
I am not sure what happened to the man I took there and was accepted. He left there upset because he had to throw away belongings. Accumulated. Limited items to not spread bacteria and germs that cause disease.
I went there to donate coats that were left at work from the pandemic. They were very happy to have them. If you have any donations, please make sure you wash them prior to sending them here. They need everything right away so if you can wash them it makes it easier on them
Not enough air conditioning homeless shelter
I stayed less then a week . I was told my kids could not go anywhere if they stayed somewhere else-they could not come back to the building . Then got a job so my kids had to go with my mother . They would not let me leave to see my kids I hadn’t seen them in three days and they Refused to let me see my kids because ms delphine has to approve it mind y’all it’s all ready been three days I do not recommend this place for women with children they’re ok with separating you from your kids and not letting you see them. You can’t do anything unless delphine approve it u can not leave or do anything unless she says so
I was thankful to have been able to do my internship with Carriage Town while I was working on my Masters. It is a wonderful ministry in downtown Flint. They have a meal for any who is in need, 365 days a year (not just for the people who stay there). 365 days a year there is the chance to hear the Word of God (to get dinner you must attend the message). I continued serving after my internship was over. Many lives were changed through Carriage Town. Many still are and many will be. I pray blessings over this place. If you are looking for a ministry/organization to support, this is one of the many well deserving ministries you could choose.
Great place to get off street at night
I would rate this place zero stars if I could. I stayed three days and went to My Brothers Keeper. The staff is rude and routinely threaten people for the most minor offenses. The atmosphere the staff creates makes it feel more like a cult than a charitable organization. All in all, avoid this place and go to MBK.
Im impressed with this place. They are not just an emergency shelter for the homeless.... they also teach their clients to make them more employable, such as resume-writing and computer skills. They are a safe place to sleep, and have storage lockers to hold all their possessions while they sleep. Or go to work.
I volunteered to help with the church service and the meal serving. Great people to work with and great opportunity to serve your community. Its a great place for those who need help with getting back on their feet. They can help you with more than just food and shelter. Medical needs, training for a job, and more. Excellent charity
Always donating because there is such a great need here in Flint. Good people.
They do great things for our community. Please choose to donate to them.
Its an okay place, if you like a lot of structure and rules. Some of the staff are racist under the skin and it seeps through enough to recognize. They threaten to throw people out into negative degree weather for things that are as simple as a tiny wrinkle on your bed after making it. I was threatened to be thrown out because i didnt sleep under the covers but instead slept just under a blanket on top of a made bed, so i could get going in the morning without too much hassle of making it.You cannot use your phone inside the building, although people ignore this rule anyway. The staff are extremely arrogant, they love to remind you that they are NOT homeless and that YOU ARE.Definitely a lot of drama. all you hear every day is a few people complain about someone else, doing something like spitting in the trash can.I got chewed out by a staff member for picking up a empty pop bottle from a chair in the chapel, he looked on the camera and tried to accuse me of drinking it in church service.I would rather go to my Brothers keeper on Kearsly they are much nicer. You get a better chance to get yourself on your feet. in carriage town they make you do chores that last most of the day, everyday for 98% of your time. Then when you skip it to go apply for a job or an apartment they kick you out for it. How in the hell are you supposed to get around that?Avoid this place if you can!
Good clean environment and food drop off for donations. Very nice welcome and courteous people. Good place to get help for those who are in need.
Offer help only to people who live there. They give meals but if youre cold and have no where to go, they wont let you inside to stay warm. They wont help you
I hope this place is different than what it was when I was there several years ago with my oldest son, and I was pregnant with my second son. Everything other than the food and cleaniness off this place was just stupid. I felt more like a child in an adoption agency full of nuns than an adult in a shelter whos supposed to be helping. Experienced all sort of problems from rules that made absolutely no sense, snobby attitudes from employees, as someone else already mentioned.....unnecessary mandatory classes that took up too much time, and I got put out because I refused to be talked down on for no good reason. I also at one point ended up being in a discussion with the head person with a group of other women there due to people trying to bring their childishness to the shelter, and clique up like teens in a high school causing conflicts that I dont have time for. I know for sure the case manager that I had who wasnt really encouraging at all, when I enrolled in some college classes at the U of M, doesnt work there anymore. I ran into her at a store some years ago after I was put out of the shelter. Im not sure about the rest. Hopefully others complained, and the incompetent ones were booted out of there. Go at your own risk.
Wonderful place. Always looking for help. It’s great to serve there and also the help provided is wonderful!!!
Bery nice landscaping. Nice people to talk to. Can help anyone who needs to talk. Sick hungry needs help. Come talk to them.
Carriage Town Ministries was amazing and I’m super excited to go back! They are creating such an impact on the Community
CarriageTown is a jewel in the landscape of Flint, a vital component in helping Flints homeless and families in need, we love serving here, in the kitchen and from the pulpit.

An Amazingly wonderful organization. Truly helped me so much to get on my feet. When I was at my lowest point. And they continue to grow in faith helping more men, women and families than ever. I look forward to the blessed privilege of becoming a volunteer for them in the near future.
