I had Amy do our title paper work 5 years ago and am just now finding out what a mistake that was! My husband and I purchased a home with some inheritance money from my grandpa passing, my grandma was still living and non of us were sure how this would affect her tax wise so we decided to simply add her name to the deed as well. She was never actually living here. We explained this ALL to her . She then wrote up our title and we signed it. Now that my grandmother is dead Im being told I have to pay nearly $500 in costs to put my OWN home thru probate because she did not word the paperwork properly to give the parties listed sole ownership upon the death of another! I called and spoke to her about this and not only did she not offer to do ANYTHING to remedy HER mistake, she actually flat out told me it was our fault because we didnt tell her how we wanted it worded!!! Last I checked I was not a professional escrow officer, she was!!! Its not my job to be aware or educated on all the ways the paperwork can and should be worded! It was her job to word it properly when we explained our situation. Im the only surviving heir and she had zero debt upon death so that is a non issue but Im furious that I have to go thru a $500, 4 month process to legally have title to my own home and didnt even recieve an Im sorry. Instead i was told it was my fault. Good thing I paid her to screw my out of $500 more dollars and a serious head ache!

Received my paper work yesterday after 3 months and its filled with errors. Some spots the typing is crossed off with ink pen and written in by hand! Honestly? Retype the damn thing! Next time I buy a place I will ask who they plan on having as a title company and if its this one I would honestly back out of the sale.
