Canyon REO was amazing! They made even rig and derig day a joy. Ben is the absolute man and helped us dream up a perfect menu and gear pack that fit our group. We never wanted for anything on the riv, especially Oreos. Boats were new and in great shape, kitchen was lights out, and we were well fed for 18 days. Couldn’t ask for more from an outfitter.

Ive used Canyon REO twice to outfit private grand trips and the experience has been awesome! They go above and beyond to tailor to your groups needs and experience level, not to mention the amount of time they spend prepping everything in advance. The staff are very friendly and someone is always available for questions/advice leading up to the launch date. Using Canyon REO made the planning/execution of our last minute trip about as easy as it gets. We look forward to working with REO again in the future.

Even though I pulled a coveted permit for the Grand I was considering giving it up based on my lack of experience and the logistical difficulties involved in such an expedition. Ive never been on a multi-day rafting trip, let alone 18 days... my lack of experience and limited time to plan casted doubts that I could pull this off as a trip leader. Then a friend suggested calling Canyon REO and the incredible staff at REO took the reigns and set us straight. They coordinated everything from fresh fruit and vegetables in gourmet meals all the way through day 18, great equipment that stood the stresses of big water, coordinated car shuttles, and gave great advice that payed off in dividends on the water. Truly this trip wouldnt have been successful without REO. There are now 25 people with a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is truly beyond words thanks to REO. If you are looking for an outfitter for your trip, I see no reason to look any further... youll be in great hands!

Everything went perfectly. They were easy to contact, incredibly responsive and helpful before the trip. During the trip we were constantly amazed by the planning and provisions provided. We had incredible meals some of which were better than anything I’ve ever eaten at home. We used the sat phone, repair kit, water pump all with no issue. I will use them again and will recommend them to all my friends and family.

Ben and the whole REO team were incredible. Can’t imagine doing the GC any other way. They have thought through pretty much any circumstance and condition you’d face on the river and planned for it. The food was excellent, the equipment well maintained and the instructions dummy proof (which was particularly important for our group :). They were also super responsive to our requests (including helping plan for a number of birthdays and on river festivities). Couldn’t recommend working with anyone higher - for this trip or any other one where you need perfect planning, coordination and execution for the trip of a lifetime. Thank you Ben and team!

We used REO for one of three trips down the ditch. All employees were great - fantastic experience off the river while planning, shuttling, rigging and at takeout. On the water, things just felt cheap and a lot of the equipment provided was pretty tired. My raft was super janky and needed quite a few top ups. Food was good, but didnt get much in the way of fresh produce which was strange for a winter trip. Water filter straight up didnt work and just spewed water everywhere the very first time we used it. Tried rebuilding it multiple times with no luck. Not a huge deal as we had enough to get to the next spring, but I feel like this is an item that should probably be in working condition. The rain tarp provided was small and in no way suitable for a group of 16. We had a couple days with A LOT of snow where a proper tarp would of been neat. Not related to my review, but a groover riser and dry box for wood would be really nice touches. Also, the giant kitchen box is absurd and was pretty precarious at some camps.TLDR; felt like everything provided met a bare minimum standard, but it was all there and we had a great trip.

Highly recommended! We just completed an 18 day, 224 river-mile trip. All boats, food, river gear was supplied by Canyon REO. The meals were as delicious on day 18 as day 1, and we received excellent instruction in the use and preservation of our equipment and food stores. I especially loved the propone-powered fire pit for our nightly chair circle! The staff was super helpful and responsive and we’ve really had the trip of a lifetime. We never could have done anything at all like this without REO! Thanks team!

When you can choose from 10 outfitters who all do the same adventure it really comes down to customer service. Canyon REO went above and beyond catering to weird diets and making sure we were flush with booze (not an easy task for our group.) Ben was super friendly - instant bestie. Absolutely fantastic experience. We had extra food in our coolers that were great surprises. Who knew wine and cheese day 12 would be such a big hit?? Thanks guys! Cant wait to bring you more business.

Another trip in the books and REO made it easy! The system they have for boats, food storage and how it is packed, lends itself to the best adventure you can have. Add friends and away you go! Ben was our on-site contact and was great to instruct us on how to rig the rental boats and the de-rig. Explained everything really well on its use and answered questions of some of the groups concerns. When the trip organizer said she was using REO, I knew the big items for the trip would be solid. We even had a box want to stay with the REO folks! They corralled it easy enough and are sending it home.Best and favorite for this couple,Norm and Amy

Ive got nothing but good things to say about this outfitter! My wife and I used them to rent gear and a food pack for our 26 day Grand Canyon trip. They made everything easy, especially the food planning processPros:- Professional, timely responses during the planning phase. Excellent communication throughout the entire 6 months leading up to launch day.- Very accommodating to specific needs (wife is dairy-free - we were able to plan a dairy-free menu with the help of Canyon REO).- If we had questions or concerns, they were promptly addressed and thoroughly explained to us.They were also able to provide additional information about the number of boats we would need for our trip size (we were stuck between wanting 4 or 5 rafts). They helped us understand the logistics of doing an exchange at Phantom Ranch (what the hike out was like, timing, etc.).Lastly, theyre just a bunch of great people! Very friendly throughout the entire process, all the way to lunch at the take-out and the check-out procedures/returning gear.We will be using them again and highly recommend to anyone on the fence about which outfitter to use.

Wow, I had such a great experience working with Canyon REO and their staff that dont even know where to begin. Warning: this is gunna be a bit lengthy.**TL;DR: Canyon REO is 10/10 who I would recommend to anyone, especially professional boaters who like intuitive systems.**I have been professional guide on week-long river trips for the past 11 years of my life, and when I pulled my canyon permit 18 months ago I knew from my experience as a river professional that I did NOT want the responsibility of orchestrating each tiny detail. As the trip drew nearer, I also found myself in graduate school without a whole lot of time to spare on planning such an epic adventure.About 6 months before the trip I called every outfitter that offered deluxe packages for the Grand Canyon. Although I think the product of gear, food, etc is probably very similar across canyon trips are very similar (Ive been on other trips with other outfitted companies), Canyon REO above and beyond outshone their competitors when it came to my initial phone call and customer service. They treated my trip like an individual, special experience and asked questions that really stuck out to me as a fellow river human.Once I decided to pull the trigger on going with Canyon REO their process was so easy and intuitive that even while in my first year of a PhD program and being incredibly short on time I never felt like I had to figure out anything for myself. They have really clear guides for food, logistics, and recommendations for outside information. I genuinely enjoyed every check-in phone call I made throughout the process. An important logistical note was that their system for planning food for the trip was exceptional. They had so many choices, they made this part of the trip easily to delegate to other people on the trip, and they were SO helpful at accommodating one of our trip goers who had some pretty severe eating restrictions. When it was finally time for the song and dance, Canyon REOs staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and really matched our experience level in terms of giving us the information we needed to have a successful and enjoyable trip. Their gear was top notch, clean, and very easy to use. The way they packed food was absolutely seamless and made our nights in camp a breeze. After our 25 day trip, the staffers that met us at the ramp were clean, professional, and helped us button things up incredibly quickly so we were on our way to our final destinations by 1 PM that day.We also had Canyon REO shuttle our rigs. On most trips this is often the biggest headache and sketchiest part of the trip. Canyon REO made this as seamless as the rest of the trip and the staff who drove our cars were incredibly friendly and helpful at the ramp. To someone in the industry, these kinds of details really blew me away. After the trip, the wrap up process has been really nice. I know how many individuals, families, crazy groups, etc that walk through the doors of businesses like these. I know first hand how hard it is to smile and treat each person kindly and engage with them authentically and make their trip an unforgettable experience. Canyon REO gone above and beyond my expectations every step of the way.Could not be more happy about such an incredible trip and how easy they made this process for me.10/10 would recommend Canyon REO to any private trip group. Especially those with professional boating experience.

Just returning to reality after my seventh Grand Canyon trip, my second as trip leader. REO has been our go to logistical outfitter since my first trip in 1996. I have been on trips where they provided everything (raft packages, kitchen equipment, food, toilets, emergency gear) to trips where they worked with a group of 8 private rafts to fit coolers, food, etc. in our frames. The personal assistance they provide is amazing. Communication via emails, texts and phone calls was so helpful and timely. Robin provided great advice on the menu, helping me select delicious and varied options for 24 day trip. She calmly provided substitutions for people with allergies, special diets, etc. Every recipe was well written and easy to follow, even by folks who dont do a lot of cooking. We avoided the most complicated items, but nothing took too long to cook. The boil-in-bag options are quick and tasty. We had fresh fruits and vegetables until day 21 (and then resupplied at Diamond Creek for the last 3 nights of delicious fresh food). We had two rental 18 foot rafts and 5 personal rafts, so with a lot of cooler space, I opted for an ice cooler which was a great luxury. We had ice and limes for gin and tonics the entire trip! The Doves are so knowledgeable about everything related to the Grand Canyon, they really helped us with logistics and last minute equipment changes. The rental rafts and other gear were all fairly new and in great working condition. The put in and take outs (4 of our group left at Diamond, the rest at Pearce) went extremely smoothly, even with extra precautions due to Covid19. The prices that they charge for all of this personal service are very fair, especially considering the high quality and quantity of the food, No problems with anything. Its such a luxury to walk away from 24 days of garbage and poop at the take out and let someone else deal with all of it!!!!

Canyon REO helped coordinate a grad school trip down the canyon that I participated in recently. It was a big group, with a lot of moving pieces-- but with Canyon REOs help, everything went super smoothly. Tasty food, seamless camp set-up, safety and fun on the river. Ben from Canyon REO came on the trip, too-- he was always up for goofiness and games as well as serious chat about the river-- such a fun person to hang out with. It was a fantastic trip. Our experience with Canyon REO was nothing short of fantastic. Experienced planners delivering clear communication about the status of our trip and the environment wed be heading into takes a load of stress out of the process for participants. Keeping us on target to meet your deadlines through email reminders made moving forward on the trip details and decisions more efficient on our end. From data on the sunniest camps to the water yo-yo flows, your technical river info was invaluable. There is a level of organization onsite that’s world-class. The orientation session on all the boating and support gear was thorough and well explained. From personal storage space, to the packing strategies, the yard crew made getting out of town and on the river smooth as silk. The REO staff were completely invested in our success. The system you have for getting trips to, on and back from the river worked flawlessly. The comfort of the vehicles, professionalism of the drivers, organization and knowledge of the riggers/deriggers and managing the logistics all contributed to a safe, enjoyable experience. The boats and rigging, while well used, were well maintained and flexible enough to meet any rowers particular style. The 18’ Hyside rafts are proven performers and continued to deliver a great rowing experience under all the stresses we put them through.Food planning, preparation and organization were exceptional. From the detailed menu instructions to the strategic packing and placement, your efforts and system gave us delicious meals for ALL 25 days, with ice in the coolers at the takeout. Unbelievable! Then a great lunch on the ride home...We felt our decision choosing Canyon REO to be the cornerstone in our incredible trip through the Grand Canyon. We will keep Canyon REO at the top of our resource list when the next Colorado permit come along. Thanks for a great rental/logistics experience and a memorable trip.

This company is incredible - truly! I had no idea what to expect on our class rafting trip -- Canyon REOs preparation and guidance made the trip seamless. The quality of food blew me away and there was always more than enough to feed the large group we had (30+ people). Their munchie boxes made the long days where we were paddling 15+ miles that much more enjoyable and their overall attitude and hospitality were unparalleled. Once on the river, you begin to piece together all of the logistics that make this trip possible, and it seems overwhelming and daunting. But with Canyon REO, these logistics are all taken care of ahead of time in a practical and efficient fashion. I would 100% recommend this company for future rafting adventures of any size and at any location. They rock!!!

We used them exclusively for a once in lifetime trip down the Grand Canyon. Donny and Caroline were awesome to work with and our boat was configured just as I thought it would be. They really wanted us to use them for food as well but our group did our own food. The equipment truck arrived at Lee’s Ferry an hour and a half late. That made it difficult for our group to have it all done before nightfall. Note that I said difficult, not impossible. We had five boats to rig and load for a 20 day trip. The driver was helpful, but let’s face it, the group is doing all the work. Shame on us for not checking our pumps that they supplied us with. We received 2 and only 1 of those 1/2 way worked and we had to break that one down and re-assemble to get it to pump air at all. Why did we need to pump at all? Good question! We had to inflate our floor every day because it leaked. We had one boat on our trip that literally had patches falling off it in the water and our boat had a main D ring that after 15 days failed. This was holding one of our spare oars. So, Canyon REO, when you read this, please take a look at Georgie and make sure she is ship shape before putting her back out there. Also, my wife annually sands and varnishes her oars. The oars we were supplied with needed this done in a major way. Our trip leader boat snapped an oar in Hermit and it was a clean break as the blade broke off the fiberglass shaft. An oar properly maintained would not do that. Our trip was awesome and all the boats stayed upright. I don’t feel like we were overly hard on the equipment, but we were on the water for a High Flow Experiment. That means that we had all kinds of junk in the water with us that we just couldn’t avoid. Our floors got plugged with debris and then took a while to bail. I doubt we will have the opportunity to do a trip of this nature again. If we do, we will certainly be much more aware of the equipment that is supplied to us and inspect and ask questions. One of the false floors supplied to our boat would not stay off the floor of the boat because the straps supplied would not hold. They would just let loose after a few minutes. It was stuff like this that just kept happening and even though everything was still ok.....it wasn’t excellent. It didn’t exceed my expectations. It was just ok. To get a five star rating this needs to exceed our expectations and it’s just not there. Since we can’t shade a half star, they get a 2.5.

If you have a choice for shuttle service, use someone else. My trailer arrived at the take-out with broken springs, flipped rockers, missing bolts and a spare tire shredded in the back of my truck. Not even a note about any of this. The paperwork left in the truck said Good Ride, no problemsThe man who called me back when I complained said his drivers all told him that that is how they found it, he said they took the trailer to Big O in Page at 45 MPH. Why not put the spare on first?I have had problems with shuttle drivers before, so I inspected my trailer as I left it at Halls Crossing.I can not believe his drivers.Avoid these folks or use them at your own risk.
