My vacation goal is to seek adventure and build special memories and moments for myself and those around me . . . especially the children. My sassy girl and I organized a trip up to the Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff with our wee little ones. Our activities included three things . . .1. The gondola ride to the top of the mountain. The lift to the top was clean, smooth, and deluxe in every way . . . especially the views. Staff was friendly and helpful. A lovely Native American Forest Service Ranger was extremely kind, helpful, and informative . . . sharing some history and other areas for us to consider exploring. Thank you!2. The jumpy ride thing at the base was a huge hit. At first, we were hesitant because of the price. Yet, the two super friendly ride attendants made it well worth the cost. Those funky dudes went above and beyond to assure that our little ones had the time of their lives . . . and they did! They did NOT get a bums rush. They enjoyed personalized deluxe service and excitement. Fantastic!!!3. The spinning wooden barrel activity. Its free, and we all laughed our heads off as we attempted to roll forward inside. All three events were a big hit for our family. Thank you, Snowbowl, for creating a wonderful place to play.
We have been here few days ago and I should say the experience was refreshing! A respite from the Arizona summer, our trip to this place felt like going far off to some other country all of a sudden. Cool and fresh breezes welcomed us. We took the Gondola ride and it was breathtaking to see the number of trees on the mountain as opposed to the mountains in Phoenix. The hike after getting down the Gondola to the top was a bit challenging but the view from there was worth it! Overall, a wonderful place to visit to this location for a nearby hill station experience.
Compare with last year, we had less snow but the ski experience was great. The efforts to make artificial snow and maintain the lift and the slopes in best condition are much appreciated. The pandemic did not make the operations easier but I am always impressed by the kindness and well intended initiative to help, practiced by all staff.
Not sure why Im giving 5star for them after all bad customer service experience had last weekend. But my problem is only related to customer service that they didnt accept our courtesy ticket from last year related to lift failure. Also I had shoulder injury 1st day Sunday and they didnt accept to let me use it as credit for next week. But the thing wasnt acceptable at all was way that one of rescued team talked and threatened me in front of all my friends. But snowball team is not 2-3 people and thanks too all snowball team that working really hard to make it possible for us to be able ski all winter season every year. Thanks to all you...
Wonderful for kids! Great prices! My daughters lift ticket was free with power pass I signed her up for online. We went last week on Thursday about 11am. I was worried from reading reviews (dont read them!) but my daughter really wanted to go so off we went. Parking in lower lot was a breeze! This is where you want to park with beginners. As you approach the lodge, turn left into any of the 3 lots, because on far left side there is a path up so you dont have to walk all the way around to the road to get to lodge. Very convenient. Theres a little hut with employees right by path where we got excellent advice. Parking lot on right works too, just farther to walk. I was able to activate my card in lot so we skipped lodge and went directly to ski! We rented out skis from Ski Haus in Santa Fe, which I recommend so you can go straight to the slope if you already have cards. As far as upper lot parking, I drove up to check it out but its not a good place to park for beginning skiing. Back by lower lots and the lodge are 2 mini slopes with conveyor belts to get you back up, called big Spruce and Little Spruce. Super easy for the littles, and my 9 year old really gained confidence on the conveyor belt before trying a ski lift. Beginner ski lift is 2 seater and is a very fun bunny hill. We played all day there. Masks in line and everyone pretty much followed that guideline. We usually had little or no wait to go back up. Employees were nice and patient. Super fun. Sunblock before you put on layers! We had to take off hats and jackets because it was so nice but didnt sunblock the new exposed skin. Ouch red. Sunbloooooock! Haha lesson learned. Good luck!
Great experience riding the ski lift in the summer. Due to the coronavirus you must buy your tickets online. I found it worth a few bucks to take the chair lift to the top. The views to the west are fantastic. You can see the grand canyon from the top. The restrooms are clean. The snow sports shop is open. I suggest taking a sweatshirt or windbreaker because it got a little breezy and chilly at the top even on a sunny day in the middle of summer.
While I cannot speak towards the chair lift or the ski/snowboarding experience, which I’m told is often crowded and overwhelming; what I can speak about is how awesome doing just the hike is. You get gorgeous views of all the large peaks in the area and the hiking path is extremely well maintained! Great experience :-)
Nice ski area.We have been there for one day and it was great fun !In one day you have enough time to use all the lifts and do some slopes several times. They also have a nice freestyle area. The only downside is that due to its smaller size, this ski area may not be the best if you plan to stay several days. They also have a nice freestyle area.
We rode the enclosed gondola up the mountain. Wow, what view. The staff was very helpful and friendly in pointing out the areas we were viewing from 11,500 feet. Great little detour on our way to the Grand Canyon.
First trip up to snowbowl to ski. Ever. And Ive lived in AZ for over 20 years. Hard to believe. We had a beautiful sunny day for skiing. Lines for lifts were a little unorganized and crazy long at times, with the main lift out :( when we heard that we were bummed. but all n all good day and the staff were all so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Not quite Colorado snow, but was great to get back on the mountain again.
1st time up this season. The improvements are wonderful. And ticketing and rentals are a breeze. Online only.
We did a hike there during the middle of October. We were there for the leaves change color. They are currently doing construction to widen the lower parking area. The weather was great and the people that we met were friendly.
For what its worth, I believe this place is the next best winter destination for our local Arizonans. Sunrise may, just a tad, edge out this place but I love going here. If youre in southern AZ this place is easier to get to than Sunrise (IMHO). I believe people who comes here are the easy going type (just my experience), as well as the staff. I would suggest management do something about people who bought their season passes, ahead of time, get processed faster and not stand in the line (1 line) just to get to Guest Services. Management needs to streamline this process (thats partly why I gave 4 *). This season was the first time I saw the snow making machines, which I thought was cool to see. So far, the season is starting out great. Good amount of snow and I hope its steady as Im planning to go back. Overall and like any ski resorts, this place looks great when theres a good amount of snow coverage. I sure dont want to see some dead grass or mud.
The Aspen lollipop loop trail was great. The Aspens yellow leaves right now are beautiful. The trail is easy to get to as its part of a Snowbowl run. You can make the hike around 1.5, 2.15, or probably 3 miles.
We love going up the ski lift during the fall. We didnt get time to do the extra activites this time but we will next time, they looked exciting. I went with my kids years ago and the one thing I recommend to bring a blanket with you up and down the lift.
For skiing in Arizona, you cant ask for much more. I love this mountain. You have the best of all skiing options; groomers, tree skiing, back bowls, bump runs and a nice beginner hill. The views are something to see and it makes you wonder if this truly is Arizona.
It was a perfect day to head up to see a vast area. Truly breathtaking.
Best place to see sunset and stars!
The Snowbowl Scenic Chairlift ride is a very romantic way to spend the day with a loved one. Restaurant was great too. Cute souvenirs in gift shop. I look forward to our next ride in the sky. Great price for the memories created. Bring a camera is highly recommended.
First time in Snowbowl and coming from Southern California. Been to Big Bear and Mammoth. Though Snowbowl isnt as large as Mammoth the fresh snow made it an excellent experience. A lot of different runs to choose from as well.If you are planning on. Heading up there you should try to get there at the time of opening or you may find yourself parking at the bottom of the hill. They offer lessons, rentals, and food too at the lodge.
This place is stealing peoples money. The mountain oversold lift tickets and closed the mountain over the weekend each day only minutes after opening due to COVID-19 capacity being reached. They are not offering refunds only exchanges and cannot guarantee a ticket you purchase for a specific day will be able to be used if they close again.Dont sell more tickets then youll allow to drive up the mountain. I paid for a hotel and other travel expenses and was left out in the cold.
Great place for 🎿 skiing
Laid back atmosphere. Very helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Lots of parking. Beautiful and well managed place. The trails are very good on a powder days. Tickets are cheap if bought online in advance and they go fast. The lifts are in very good conditions. Offers variable trails for different levels of skiers. Overall fun place to go in the winter.
Fun snowboarding and skiing place. We got our gear somewhere else. Returning rentals here gets crazy. Bring your own lunch if youre trying to be frugal
The rental people had this working wonderful. Smooth pick up and drop off.
Im definitely coming back with my husband and my son :D
Love coming here for the scenic chair lift ride. Couple of years ago we came when it was 30 degrees on top of the mountain. This time winter has came early and there was snow at the top and it was 10 degrees plus wind. It was super cold. Make sure you bundle up.Also great place for skiing & snowboarding.
Very pretty location for hiking close to Flagstaff!
I liked this place for ski a lot!It is perfect for the beginners, intermediate and for the experts level. Its kind of expensive but worth it.The only thing I would like to be changed is the opening hours. I think if they will open from 7am until 6pm will be the best thing that they can implement.
We took a large group here in the summertime. Stayed for a few hours. The chair lift was beautiful and relaxing. The views from the top were spectacular at an elevation of 11,500 ft. The summer activities were also fun. The bungee trampoline was the kids favorite and the staff could not have been kinder with the children.
Fun experience for the whole family. If you plan on going more than a day, it may be cheaper to buy your own skis than rent them. They do run specials frequently tho
Great place for snow sports, can’t wait for next winter.
Wow, well worth the price of admission.
Great lifties. Great snow. Ski patrol is on point. I have never had trouble parking.Overall this place is legit. I love the new high speed lift.
I’ve been other places to ski and this one comes in around 3 stars. Prices have increased in the past years yet their services have not. A lot of trails weren’t open. Food was pricey for no reason. With COVID, they’re strict about masks yet no physical distancing is occurring. Some of the staff members are really chill but others need an attitude check. I witnessed two teenage boy staff members yelling at children for accidentally using the wrong door. The father of the children told them to relax because they’re just children and the staff members became snippy. I’m looking elsewhere in 2021 to ski.
Good skiing for Arizona! The snow was good & lift lines were small. The restaurant seating area is a little small, so groups may need to separate as people tend to save tables. The food was a simple menu of pizza & chicken tenders.I would recommend looking to rent equipment elsewhere. Staff was friendly but morning line (on a holiday weekend) was an hour wait. Theres local places down in town that rent.
You cant beat Snowbowl for the price. Usually around March, the end of the season they provide tickets for $30 but then give you a lunch voucher for $15. Even though its nearing the end of the season the snow is still plentiful. Last time I went they got 40+ in the city and nearly double that on the mountain. Plus when youre done skiing, head down to old flag and visit any one of the amazing bars or restaurants.
Recently visited AZ Snowbowl, the lift guy Randy, was awesome! So helpful and kind, our three littles thought he was the coolest! Thankful for a person like him to help us enjoy a great family day!
It was my second time snowboarding and we took the beginner class. Our instructor was top notch! Very patient and informative. I highly recommend Snowbowl. The entire staff was amazing! Thanks for making our family trip a very positive and memorable experience!
Had a blast! For a busy Saturday it really wasnt too crowded. Getting our equipment went smoothly and all the staff seemed to be on their game. Lunch was actually real good as well! Definitely recommend!
Amazing deals if you pre-plan and purchase your lift tickets online, you can also get your rentals from same place and get food credit vouchers! Best deals for any ski resort when you compare with Colorado or Utah! Friendly staff! Great for beginners and kids. Highly recommend! No brainer if you live in Arizona!
Hiring process is atrocious at Snowbowl. Had an interview that I felt went great, was told that I would have another interview lined up, then never heard back from them even after sending 3 or 4 e-mails over the course of a month. If I didnt get the job then fine, tell me out of common courtesy. Ghosting potential candidates isnt acceptable.
We went this summer for chair lift a couple of times. Great place for family...out of star visitors and kids. They have some activities that are geared to kids and ours loved it (inner tube slide and bungee trampoline). The employees were very helpful and it was fun to buy a beer at the restaurant to take on the lift ride up. We love coming to snow bowl in the winter and the summer also.
Great first experience for my son and myself. I will say some instructors are better than others. The group I was with all agreed that our instructor was rushing us and not really any help while another instructor beside us looked very helpful and patient with her group. All in all I still give them a 5 since it wasn’t my first time taking a lesson.
Absolutely loved coming here for my very first experience snowboarding. They had different options for everyone from beginners to the pros. I would definitely bring my family here again. A huge thank you also to all of the staff. Not only were they extremely knowledgeable, but they were also very friendly and energetic. They set the mood of fun for sure!
This place is great, I enjoy every time I come up here but last time I had an issue with management. They were suppose to allow my to use an uploaded photo but couldn’t because I didn’t purchase the mail option. I reached out prior to support and they told me I could get that done at the ticket window with no problem but when I went in person no one could help me. Not even give me another option. I know it’s not a deal breaker but for spending $400 for season pass at least let me have a decent picture 😔. I hate to be that guy to leave a bad review but it is what it is. Thanks for all your help Terren or Terry whatever the managers name was.
The ride up to the top and back is beautiful! the only down side is you are unable to get off at the top of the lift to walk around. That was a bit disappointing.
Great family friendly place with long greens, just a tip go extra early to get into the ski rental lines in the a.m. so that the kiddos make it to their ski lessons on time and be prepared to a lot of walking in your ski boots at this mountain because the main lodge is on an upper deck and only reachable from side of the lifts. The blue slopes were really fun and wide. We will be back!
I bought three tickets to go skiing with my family while they were in town, when we arrived to the park at 8:30 there was already a huge line. Which is understandable that’s why we arrived early. After waiting two hours in line we were greeted by an employee who told us they were at capacity, and that their higher slopes were closed. She informed us we could either drive to downtown Flaggstaff or process a refund online. We decided it was not worth it to wait. Now that we are trying to get our refund we are being told that isn’t possible. We would have rode the bus if we knew we were going to be out $300. I’ve tried calling customer support multiple times and have be “disconnected” while trying to reach a manger. Just doesn’t seem right to make someone pay 100 if they won’t even have the chance to ski for more then 3 hours. Definitely would not recommend.
Its such an amazing experience! Loved it will be coming back soon with my kids!
This is the best ski resort in arizona! Will be better when thay get a new high speed lift!! plus kids ski free!!!
Great mountain for the price and area. There is a fun vibe at the mountain and is an all around good time. Of course, it is not as large and high-end as some of its Colorado counterparts, but it is priced that way and is worth the visit!
Beautiful views and well groomed trails. Instructors all very helpful, and lifts are well maintained.
Aw! I’ve been to my fair share of large hills...this was my first time with my kids...lift operators were extremely accommodating and made the experience stress free....not the biggest mountain but it’s 2 hours from Phoenix, has a lodge, food, beer, music! It’s fun! Lots of inexperienced people so no pressure, laid back atmosphere! Daughters had a blast!!! Wear sunscreen if it’s sunny!!!! Seriously
A great place to hike during the summer and to see the fall leaves change
Beautiful area! We went up for the morning and had a great time. The instructors were very patient with me while I took a lesson and taught me a lot of good tips that helped me become more stable and confident in myself. It was a lot of great fun, the slopes were well taken care of and we cant wait for our next visit!
Its a wonderful place
Im saddened by the management of this establishment. As a life long skier and native to Arizona, I have come to this mountain for over 20 years and it has become worst than ever. I tried contacting management first and spoke to someone named Alyssa who was basically a robot. No empathy, just a copy and paste to tell me what I already knew. I wouldnt waste your money coming here. Problems here start with parking, then with lines being incredibly long due to poor planning. Unless there are new managers or some sort of shake up, it seems like this place has been ruined.By the way, I spoke to a couple of employees and they asked me to make complaints so that this place changes. You know you have bad managers when customers are being told they want change. I want to change this review to 5 stars, and I hope I will in the future.
Thanks for a magical snow experience! 💓🏂❤️❄️💓
Snow Bowl had perfect snow weather, it was my second time snowboarding and my boys girlfriends 1st. We had a great experience and one of the trainers even stayed an extra 45 min helping one of them out. Even though the parking lots were full all the way down to the bottom of the entrance, there was ample riding everywhere. Cant wait to go back.
Beautiful place to enjoy weather in autumn season 🍂 and winter time excellent to snow boarding
Fast lifts, excellent groomers, and very friendly staff. I hope they build some mountain-side lodging soon, but I know that can be tough because its in a National Forest. Cant wait to come back next year!
Gets crowded in the mornings due to the influx of people from Phoenix. Wait lines on good crowded days for the GCX lift and Agassiz can be ~10-15 minutes. They could put in more lifts, but its pretty good on customer service
Its a beautiful place to visit! Check my photos and see the scenery!
Great resort with lots of fun trails. The snack bars and restaurants are conveniently located right off trail! Ive had a great time every time Ive gone up this season
I visited during Spring Break. Lots of young people but they were fun and added to the energy. It was VERY crowded but the bartenders kept the line moving! Food was nothing to get excited about--hot dogs, burgers, other such stuff. Sit by the window and enjoy watching snowboarders and skiers in warmth!
We love going to the Snowbowl for our son to snowboard. This year it was extremely colder than usual, yet there were so many kind and helpful employees. One in particular was Coach Bren, he went above and beyond and was such a blessing. After that there were numerous employees, and many other kind people helping to push us out as we slid down Snowbowl Ranch Rd. Lesson learned=Chains are needed, yes, even a truck with off-road tires 🤣. Anyway it was still a great time 🥰🙏🏼
We visited in October to see the Aspens change colors. It was beautiful
Super nice place, be prepare to walk a lot, do not forget to bring your water
$29 for spring skiing lift, and all runs and lifts open.. How can you go wrong... Staff was great, lifts were great, and the skiing and snowboarding was a blast. Definitely plan to return.
Great place to ski in AZ. my kids enjoyed the kids ski classes. My advice is to plan on getting there early to get a good parking spot.
Good time all around to lay some pipe
Summited Humphreys peak here! What an experience!
They arent letting you off of the lift at the top! Mega line. Be prepared to wait in the sun for hours. Total ripoff and even worse that they lied about the ride over the phone (called same day). 2 passengers every fourth lift chair. There is a reason they require prepurchase of tickets.
This is the place I go anytime I want to get in a good day of snowboarding. From the valley I can drive up and board until close and still be home for dinner. There are other mountains in AZ but for the time and amount of fun had this is the best. With the additional lifts working getting up the mountain is a breeze. I’ve always had a fantastic time here and I’ll continue to go back as long as I can ride my board.
On of my favorite places I leave in Phoenix and every season I wait for fresh powder them hot the slopes the best 🏂🏂🏂
The runs were super nice today since it snowed nearly a foot this week. Awesome snow, quick lifts and that biting winter air made the experience an awesome one. Coming back soon before the season ends!
WARNING!! DO NOT GO HERE!!This company will take your money, sell more ski passes and rentals than they can accommodate, and deny admittance to you without explanation.I drove 2 hrs to snowboard here with a group of friends and we (along with like 50+ other vehicles) were denied admittance. We arrived 10 minutes after they opened. There was no explanation given, just turn around and go home. Were not allowing anyone else today by the security staff. When I called customer service about a refund, their phone doesnt give an option to speak to anyone. When you hit 0 for the operator, it AUTOMATICALLY HANGS UP.Ive emailed customer service about my complaint, and they pretty much said not our problem.Ill be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.STAY AWAY!
