The postal system is getting worse. I went to the branch and found they closed for lunch and nothing posted to indicate when the employees would return to start serving customers again. Absolutely stupid. Will not go there again.

Abysmal service. Visited this branch in the morning a few weeks ago, the door was open but there was no one serving customers; a crowd of ~6 of us waited for 30 minutes then left. Today at 2:30pm I visited once again only to find that the was turning people away because they’re “closed”. Do yourself a favor and drive a few extra minutes to a nearby functional USPS branch.

This is the second time I came to this place in the morning only to have it close and I cant get to my POBox. And to day is the june 11 and now they are close for lunch at 1:27pm

If youre someone who owns a small business or just routinely ships out items, avoid this place. Routinely have scanned packages (sometimes they arent scanned 🙃) sit there for days before being sent to the distribution center. Lines are always very long, workers are not friendly and will never do above the bare minimum to help out. Just got to Hazel Park or Royal Oaks PO instead.

Mailman constantly refuses to deliver my mail because I have a dog inside my house. Not in the yard, in my house, behind doors and closed windows and walls. Yet somehow the mail carrier sees this as a fit reason to not deliver my mail? There is no danger at this house from dog, just frustration caused by a failing and lazy workforce.

Lines are almost always shotter than other nearby post offices. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is free parking in the rear, which is definitely not normal for most area businesses in Ferndale.

Over the years Ive made hundreds of trips to this post office location. Ive never had a single bad experience. From my observations the line moves at a satisfactory pace unless someone in line is unprepared which happens often. No one here is gonna do back flips for you or put on an unnecessary dog and pony show, but they will take of your needs while being polite. Which is not only acceptable but is in fact perfectly fine. Make sure youre prepared when you walk in and dont get impatient because you were in line for 5 minutes and youll have a good experience.

Sadly, this has been my local PO for more than a decade and it’s been year after year of truly abysmal service. On a good day you can expect slow service from disinterested clerks. On a bad day—especially if there’s a truck out back being loaded—you can usually expect unfriendly clerks who will disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time while the lobby becomes crowded with 10 or more confused customers. In fact, as I type this review, I have been in line for over half an hour on a random Thursday afternoon, and I’m only just now seeing the aloof clerk for the first time. She’s reappeared from “the back” slowly wheeling an empty cart, presumably from loading the truck. How this place is so dreadfully mismanaged, clearly understaffed, and consistently unpleasant never ceases to amaze me. The only thing more shocking to me is that I still haven’t learned my lesson to drive a short distance farther to the Livernois branch. Dear Google review reader, should you ever see me at the Ferndale Post Office again, please publicly shame me.

This is a great post office, the staff is always ready and helpful. I should know as Im there quite often. From what i can see if people just prepared their stuff better, used the online services and came to any USPS ready and packed correct there would not be issues.

Here at 9:30 AM waiting for 15 minutes to show, then disappeared!! Drive to Royal Oak at all costs, much better service.

If I could give zero stars and open a federal investigation on this USPS branch I would. Mail routinely goes missing, or is marked as delivered and then shows up weeks later. As other reviews state, its clear they hold on to mail and deliver it at their own leisure.. with as many bad reviews this branch has, and as many people have mail regularly held or go missing, Im honestly surprised there hasnt been an investigation. Funny how my tracking will show me my shipments have arrived, yet my informed delivery has no photos of my packages.. Im saving all those emails.

I found the best time to come visit this post office is in the morning at about 9:30-10 AM. Usually theres only one other person in line and the person at the window isnt super grumpy (yet). It seems what makes your operation go smoothly is knowing what exactly you want before you go in. I suggest googling what you might need before hand because otherwise its easy for you to get up-charged for unnecessary things.Please remember that each receipt has a survey code at the bottom that lets you tell USPS about your experience and FILL IT OUT! This post office sucks but if more people complained to USPS instead of Google we might get something changed.

If I order anything that should be delivered on Friday or Saturday, I get an email notice that a delivery was attempted but the package was undeliverable because they couldn’t gain access to my building. I live in a house with a driveway that is not obstructed. I would rather them just not deliver it than lie about it.

Purchased stamps and dropped off 3 letters with the clerk. All were addressed to separate locations both within Michigan and elsewhere in the US. All three letters went missing. If you have important items to send do not go through this office.

Clerk refused to help me with double checking the labels I printed at home. She put them on a pile and said next time I should pay more to be sure. When I explained I was still trying to make sure these ones are right she dismissed me like I said nothing.

The hour clearly states that its open until 6pm. There were 4 of us waiting for over 15 minutes last night. We knocked on the window and rang the door bell. One lady finally waddled to the window and told us that its been closed for today and pointed at the sign. We were like what sign?!? If the sign of hours state that its open till 6, the windows should be open also. People have to be at work during the day. Of course people will be coming in after 5pm!! These people are so freaking lazy, its unbelievable!!!

This office is absolutely terrible!!! I wish I got the lady name that was rude to me and my mom. The lady was too busy on her phone playing her music and smacking on gum. She didnt even offer to help tape a box, instead she just handed us the tape and continued being on her phone & SMACKING her gum. She was also unfriendly to the people that came after us too. If I can help it l, I will travel anywhere but here to mail off anything.

Had a very important package containing personal documents sent via priority express with a guaranteed delivery time of 12pm the next day. Come noon the next day, the package was still sitting at the Ferndale USPS. Completely screwed me over. No apology and no refund, despite the guaranteed refund. All staff are slow, rude and incompetent.

I always have good service at this location. It is convenient and parking is adequate. I also like the old building vibe.

Just went into the post office to get wedding invites weighted and to get stamps for them and the rsvps. I was actually dreading going do to all the terrible reviews but, the women that helped was awesome. She wen and got a few options of stamps that were more the over all invitation. She was super helpful. Great experience and will totally go back. 👍👍

If I could give no stars I would. Only thing I hate about Ferndale. Never, ever, have I been to a worst postal office. Can’t even get them to answer the phone. If you could make a complaint to the actual government, I would.

I live out of state and one of my packages was sent here so it could be shipped to my address. I checked the tracking number and my package just sat there for 10 days. 10 days! It shouldnt take that long to send a small package out!

The lady always working seems nice enough and Im always polite back, but I have to say this branch is AWFUL at time management. On more than one occasion Ive come in and she stops everything completely to do something with the truck in the back around 5, 5:30 for 15-20 minutes while everyone waits. Today Im the ONLY one with 1 package and Im waiting 20 minutes because she couldnt be bothered to take care of me quickly before going off to do her other duties. The posted hours SHOULD say 9:30-5, 5:45-6 if this is such a common occurrence. Time management, cmon.

I have been here many times to mail cards, small packages and large packages. Im always in and out quickly. I appreciate the service our postal workers provide.

Truly abysmal and unfortunate. Outstanding how understaffed this place is. There is no stamp vending machine, no self serve postage station. Be prepared to wait in a line sometimes 15-20 people deep and hear the only person behind the 3 counters joke that This was the wrong place to come if you were in a hurry. I love personal service where customers can converse with their local shipping agents. If 3 or 4 more people could be on staff here (please at the very least in December) then everyone could be having a good time & get customer service worthy of such an otherwise progressive and up and coming downtown.

I dont even want to leave one star. In a city that is thriving, why wont you hiring more staff? Ive been coming here for over 15 years and it hasnt ever changed. One employee. ONE EMPLOYEE FOR AN ENTIRE CITY. Shame on you ferndale government for failing your community.

Three words VERY POOR SERVICE. They are very slow and not customer friendly. I asked the clerk at the desk if she could put a strip of tape across a loose label I had on a small package which would take all but less than a second she replied that I would have to do it myself, I do not tape anything. Dont even bother about making a phone call to inquire about anything, they will not pick up. I am currently considering a alternative post office.

Doesnt like to deliver packages in the rain, so instead codes could not access the delivery location, when the mail box is in the front yard, we dont have animals outside, nothing was blocking the box or porch, etc. Mail staff inside are rude and unhelpful on several occasions when I needed to mail something out. I would suggest replacing everyone here and starting over.

Worst customer service ever. Slowest customer service ever. Worst attitude by a postal employee (go figure). Only one window open every time you go there and the lady is miserable and overcharges you because if you go online and check the price after you leave youll find out she overcharged you. But there are some really cool birds in the trees that make crazy loud noises in both the trees on either side of the doors so go for the atmosphere dont go for the service.

I walk in 30 minutes before they close to simply ship a package and the lady proceeds to tell me that she doesnt have time and to just come back in 20 minutes. Clearly need more staff or someone that understands customer service

2 words describe this post office. Lazy and incompetent. They have no idea what the procedures are for basic processes. They never answer their phone if you have a question. They are not helpful and give you attitude if you are lucky enough to get a hold of them. I will never ever go to this post office again. Its a complete nightmare. I cant begin to tell you about the level of frustration I have had with them.

Id give it no stars if I could. I have attempted to call this post office looking for a missing package they delivered to the wrong address numerous times at all times of the day. No one ever answers the phone, theres no answering machine, and after a dozen rings it hangs up on you. Theres no way to contact the post master there, and if you call USPS customer service for help, the wait time is always over an hour.If this were my local post office (and according to reviews this place is a nightmare in person) I would contact by state representative and file a complaint. I understand they are probably understaffed (since reviews state there is never more than one person at the windows, if anyone, at a time) but close it down if you cant service the people of your community properly and efficiently. Consolidate locations with enough employees to do the job professionally.

If I could leave less then one star I would, was supposed to receive package yesterday and the tracking states receptacle blocked and then 30 minutes later no access. No possible way, I live in a house and someone was home. I called 4 times so far today to try to get it figured out, no answer. It looks like I am going to have to actually go to the post office just to find where my package is. They are useless.

Unhelpful. Post office couldnt find my package and referred me to another location. They never even checked if my package was at the location they sent me to and come to find out it wasnt there so I went out of my way for nothing. There was one window open during the holiday season and no one seemed to want to help much.

Carrier on E Woodland very rarely gets the mail delivered to the right house. My neighbors have started coordinating to swap mail back to who its supposed to go to, because the carrier is so incpmpotent. Several of us have missed time sensitive letters and packages because of this, and at least three people on my block have missed packages completely, because the carrier delivered them to the wrong house, and they just kept them. Ferndale USPS staff are utterly incompetent, and should ALL be replaced.

I️ was in this store at 5:45pm on a Tuesday night. The lobby closes at 6pm. At 5:55pm, the only employee here, Tracy, told me that I would need to wait for the person who was unloading the truck to take care of me. She literally clocked out and grabbed her lunch tote while I was standing at the window waiting. It would have taken her an additional 30 secs to complete my transaction and she still would have clocked out at 6pm. I’m still here... 6:15pm. Unbelievablely bad customer service

Worst customer service. Drive over to hazel park or royal oak. Can’t get a “fragile” sticker but I can pay $10.95 for a “special handle” sticker? My friend who works for the post office for 5 years has never heard of such a thing. Once I waited in line 45mins for service when they were open and no one came to the window. I left. Worst post office.

This place sucks! The management of this facility needs to be let go. Having one employee trying to service a line of 18 people is a joke.

I sent my son a huge box full of presents and food - everything was gone except 2 things - a little stuffed penguin and a card !! It was delivered on wed afternoon - he took a picture of the box and said this is it !! I am sick over this - so all my special gifts were gone/ he has no Christmas!!! People stoop so low and steal - they should have to pay for theyre disgusting theft and face the consequences of stealing - My other boys received their box - full !!! This location has been absolutely worthless in helping me find my businesss mail. We have had our address transferred for weeks now and it is still not delivered. We figure its at that location, but we cant tell because nobody picks up the phone. This place doesnt deserve to be open. Extremely upset.

Answer your phone! I have called three times no answer. I even tried calling the 1800 number for the US Postal service and it was literally impossible to get someone on the phone. I just want them to stop putting someone elses mail in my mail box. I have left serveral notes telling them this girl does not live here but they obviously dont care.

I was just at this post office for the first and last time. It is clearly stated on the door that this location is open till 6pm today. At 3:10pm the ONE person on staff announced to the line of customers that Im taking one more person then chall gotta go. And then she walked away from that person after she said it. Never seen such bad service at a post office. At a McDonalds sure.

I came here yesterday and it wasnt tgar bad, aside from the really long line with one person working the window.. They need to hire more workers or at least the staff that is there to fill in instead of talking to each other. There are also times that thus post office is just randomly closed, like someome decided to leave early. An extra star because it is clean inside.

This post office is terrible. Not only is service deathly slow the people working there are rude. You can wait over 45 minutes to drop off your mail with only 3 people in front of you. It is definitely worth the drive to head over to the Royal Oak post office where they are efficient and friendly.I have also gone 4 days with out mail service. Trying to call this location and speak with a service representative is nearly impossible.Again, just go somewhere else they are not worth the hassle.

A parcel i was supposed to receive keeps getting recirculated, no note, nothing. dont even try to call...attempted for over thirty minutes with literally no response, during business hours. really just not acceptable. my mail will fail to arrive for days at a time, then a TON all at once. unlike any other experience ive ever had with the usps. This place needs cleaned out and restocked with competent people or closed down. Pick one. Clearly nobody is reading these reviews from the store. So good luck!

Not only is it an ordeal to visit the Ferndale Post Office, but the carriers suck too. Mine is walking on everyones lawn. How rude and disrespectful. I have never had a positive experience with the Ferndale Post Office.

Staff is extremely rude. They leave lines of customers to take breaks. I recommend driving the extra to a different location.

I have continued to give this branch a chance but each visit seems to be worse than the last. Today the branch was supposed to open at 9:30 AM and I was in a line of about 8 people but no one showed up until 9:45.

Closed an hour and ten minutes early. Even though I was in the lobby, they refused to sell me stamps. There was no explanation, no reason, terrible service.

I have been waiting on a package from my mom from California. We were given a date of delivery. After ten days late and could. Not track the package any longer, we called. The package was sitting there the whole time. No slip was left at the door. The people were rude. I had arranged for someone to be home to sign for it every day. There was no attempt to deliver it. Unbelievable!!! Also a few weeks ago a large package was delivered to our house the belonged to someone the next street over. A note was left on to indicate wrong address that package sat a week. I watched them step over it every day. I finally delivered it to this elderly man who has been desperately waiting on it. Damn shame
