Called 20 minutes before arriving to see a dog named “Minnie” and said I was on the way.... after driving 25 minutes I get there to Minnie about to be adopted by someone else that was there. A heads up would have been nice to know first come first serve... but I am dissatisfied. The lady that adopted the dog kept saying “I hope she doesn’t bark” “I hope she isn’t loud in my apartment” “I am bringing her back if she’s loud” meanwhile another couple approaches her and says “I was here to see that same dog” and the lady says “well you can have her I don’t NEED her” .... end of story... this adoption agency let a lady who said she didn’t “need a dog” go home with her while having two other loving families - disappointed. No consideration was giving to where this dog was going.... I’m heartbroken for Minnie!
Very nice facilities for shelter pets.
Got a really wonderful dog from there and they are easy to work with. Its clear that they care about their animals.
Nice clean adoption center that takes in strays as well as other pets seeking a new home. Price is normally $20 but doesnt include $100 fee for tracking and other possible fees. Animals are taken care of and playful. Nice to visit and support if you are truly seeking a new friend for yourself, a friend or family member. Easy to spot from street.
Im from out of town. I called them and they refused to rescue two black cats a death sentence with Halloween coming up
Theyre good with animals and very professional.
It was 3 days into the Covid QUARANTINE. I was driving by the shelter and made a U-Turn to see what small dogs they had. I instantly fell in love with a small terrier. She was spade current vaccinations and very playful. I just could not resist her. They had her named pasely but since i have a toy dachsund named Daisy it was only fit to call her Rose especially since in the bright sun she has a pink glow. Radiating through her silver coat from her pink skin . THANK YOU FARMERS BRANCH for a beautiful pup. She is so so very smart. Knows alot of great tricks too. Thanks again. D.j.
Fell in love with Boris a 51lbs shepherd mix. Hes lovable smart and loves to run and play. I wanted to take him home so bad but he is to big of a dog for me to handle and I have a very small apartment. So please if your looking for a good baby go check him out.
I got in to a hard situation when I first moved to Texas from Indiana and the manager was so RUDE to me! She was dismissive and would not listen to me. I had to literally call the sheriffs department to get their attention so I can surrender my dog to them. I’m a first responder and couldn’t bring my dog to work and I was in a bad housing situation but this shelter was more than difficult. The sheriffs department dispatcher had to transfer me to their phone because at some point the manager stopped picking up the phone. She even hung up the phone in my face when I asked for the address. When I got there to finally surrender my dog, she rudely told me how much it would cost to surrender my dog and that once I surrender her, I can not keep track of how she does in the shelter. The women didn’t even care as I cried in the lobby over having to be in the situation I am in after being my dogs guardian since she was able to be away from her mom. Not even 24 hours after i surrendered my dog, the shelter had already spayed her and had her up for sale. There was not quarantine period or health check, they just threw my dog out there to get rid of her before I had a chance to come back for her. I got to visit my dog once before they quickly sold her to someone else. The manager didn’t even want to speak to me on the phone after they adopted her out. She wouldn’t pick up or return my call and when I finally got her while she was there, she had one of her employees talk for her. I felt like she was avoiding me. Weeks later I see my dogs picture on their Facebook profile picture. I asked them why she was returned to the shelter. Whoever runs the Facebook page told me that the family that adopted her had a dog that didn’t get along with her. That further insures me that they were just trying to adopt her out before I can come back for her. So this is my chance to come get my dog! I messaged them on Thursday to inquire about my dog, by Monday my dogs picture was taken down off the website and she was no longer available to adopt. This shelter is sketchy and they don’t actually help people. I don’t even think they help the animals. My dog and I were best friends and grew very attached to each other over the years. My dog is smart and can adapt but she’s better off with me. And for whatever reason that the manager felt the need to be so rude and inconsiderate during this time is beyond me! I will never adopt from any shelter ever again thanks to the rude people at the farmers Branch animal shelter! You’ve done your job! You should be proud. Purposely making me miss two opportunities to reunite my dog with the only mom and family she knows! True dirtbags if you ask me! Wouldn’t recommend!
I had a great experience here. The staff cares for the animals & are always welcoming. They go above and beyond for the stray animals that come in to their facility.
We found a dog right down the street off rosser and they refused to take her because we live in Dallas not farmers branch. Her owners are not registered so they can’t be called but obviously live in the area and would look there for her. Absolutely ridiculous that they would not take her
Great staff and animals here! They are always nice and courteous at the front desk and is a very clean environment. You can tell that the animals are being taken care of and treated well. I got a cat from here and she is the sweetest thing ever and seems like it was already used to being nice to humans. I really recommend this place you wont be disappointed.
They have a nice bike stand out front..
The kittens are so cute, and they loan wild animal traps.
Highly recommended! I love going there to visit the animals! Super nice staff as well!I just adopted my baby Valentine from there!!!
Staff were very kind overall very good place!
They dont help animals they say they cant go near Carrollton tx to help animals thats sad.
The staff is very kind, courteous and polite. They care deeply for the animals. The facility is spotless.
The people were friendly and knowledgeable, will be back
I adopted my sweet girl Amelia (previously known as Irma) from this shelter. They were super nice, very clean facility and the animals seem well taken care of (new beds, clean runs, warm temperature inside, kitten room, etc). She was a scared, timid thing at first, but has opened up wonderfully and Im so glad we saved her!To the negative reviewers: as with any animal adoption, there are risks involved because you dont know the animals history. It is NOT the shelters fault if you adopt a pet with health issues, many shelters dont have the funding available to examine each and everything about a dog. Its up to YOU as a responsible pet owner to give them the love and care and possible medical care they may need. Owning a pet is never cheap, people would be smart to recognize this, but it comes with a lifetime of joy and love - for which Im happy to shell out money for.
I got my special furever boy Tiger there at clear the shelter day. All the staff were so nice and helpful. He was a special boy with an abusive past very skittish, and they help me with him for almost two weeks trying to get him to accept me. You should see him now,hes a very happy boy.
I went to Farmers branch earlier this year in May, and I adopted my forever heart!. When I first came the staff were very friendly and kind. They helped me through everything. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a dog or cat. It did cost me $80 to get her fixed and microchipped though. But it is worth it. (:
They have always given us great service. Love them.
They put down animals & tell people they’ve been adopted .
We adopted a cat here about 6 weeks ago. She was a transfer from another clinic in South Dallas. She is just over a year old and awesome! She was very thin but that is to be expected since she was a stray. This center was extremely clean, as we had been to others, the staff was very nice. The baby we choose had all her shots, spayed and dewormed. Our fee for her was $20 but I would have paid anything to save her. I also would like to add that Dr. Hodges and Dr. Pendery that are veterinarians on staff there are very well respected doctors in the community and have been practicing for many years. I have used their private practice services over the years for my other pets and would trust either of them with any animal of mine. It is heartbreaking to hear that some people have adopted pets that ended up sick but we need to realize that all these animals had a rough time and were abandoned or surrendered for any of multiple reasons. I am thankful that we have services such as FBAC to try and help to save and comfort as many animals as possible. If you are considering a new furry family member please go by and see for yourself if your new baby is there and you will see that this is a great, caring facility. Please spay and neuter and please adopt instead of buying from a breader. I have had 12 or more kitties over the years and all were adopted or just found and all have been a blessing.Monica
My kitten I adopted had ring worm. My Wife and I were oblivious until we contracted it too. When confronted the adoption center told me theyd cover it and they directed me to a vet office. The next day I come to the vet to realize the told the vet 50/50, not 100%.AVOID THIS SHELTER. Diseased animals and disrespectful service.
Well on June 8 we adopted Vincent from here, at Farmers Branch Adoption, he seemed ok the first night. The next day he wasnt doing well. Wouldnt eat, very clingy, lethargic. We have it a day thinking it was just due to all the change. Day 3, no better took him to out vet, he was tested for PARVOVIRUS! It came back positive for the virus. We had to leave him with the vets over $2600 later and Vincent is on the mend. Hes been saved. Now the day we adopted Vincent they only charged us $45 for adoption, said there was a sale. Normally its $85. Beware, from adopting here. This is a shame that we had to go through this AND Vincent. He truly is a sweet boy. Hes a toy mix Maltese and Miniature poodle. A year and 6 months old. The vets said he had his age going for him. If he had Parvo and was brought into there place on May 30th, the the other dogs there are probably Ill as well.
We have adopted multiple kittens through the years. Great staff and volunteers.
Verily, by the broom of Hufflepuff, five star dog shelter.
Yall took my dog from in FRONT OF MY HOUSE I was 3 MINUTES AWAY, YET YOU leave, BOTH MY NEIGHBORS WITNESSING AND YET YALL CANT LEAVE IT WITH EITHER ONE !!! What type of bullshitt is that
Dont go here absolutely horrible service
They are all about the money, not interested in saving animals. A friends dog got loose and they had it up for adoption within a day and although they knew whos dog it was never attempted to contact him.
What kind of ID do you need to adopt?
