Lovely addition to the neighborhood with a friendly face.
Really enjoy coming here. Great for coin collectors too!
I was pleasantly surprised when I worked with Mr. Mitchell. I came in wanted to sell an old ring that I’d thought was silver for cash, but turned out to be platinum! We had a long standing conversation, which made my day. Will come again!
Have been going here to exchange currency for a couple of years. They are always polite and clear with the exchange rates. Much better rate than the airport. Sure he does have an exchange fee, but it is usually around 4 bucks or something, which is fine. It’s very simple, if you deal with exchanges, if you like the rate, you change it, if not you don’t. His are always Pretty good.
I am a resident of the City of Falls Church since 1996 and have known Gossett Mitchell since 2002. First of all, his new storefront is MUCH nicer than the old one. Secondly, he is honest and direct. He says exactly what he is willing to buy/sell for and his rates are consistently either market or maybe slightly even better for bulk. He cheerfully will buy back anything he sells to me, even when the market is turbulent. If he is not too busy with customers or paperwork, he will always take the time to talk with me and discuss precious metals and currencies. The man is thoroughly a professional and I dont want him to retire EVER.
This is a year and a half old so take this with a grain of salt but I sent them ~$75 of assorted foreign coins only to receive a check back for $6.25, barely enough to cover the mailing costs. That was bad enough, but then the check BOUNCED and I incurred a bank fee. The voicemail I left to follow up went unanswered. So overall, rather than picking up a few extra bucks in pocket change, I wound up losing almost $100 (including the value of the coins).UPDATE: Youre welcome to believe what you want but the returned check from my bank says otherwise. Trust me, I have no interest in extorting you or your company. My only interest was to inform other potential customers of my experience, though your response is probably more illuminating than anything I could say here. As far as karma is concerned, if youre saying that I deserved to wind up empty-handed because of some past action, I wont argue; lord knows Im no saint. But if youre saying karma should come after me for a justified one-star review... *shrug* you do you. I do hope that in the future you decide to engage with dissatisfied customers rather than attack their veracity.
Had a big transaction; exchange rates were fair and the best in town on multiple currencies. This is the place to trade currency in Washington, DC Metro. Go ahead and check the rates elsewhere and youll see the difference. Highly recommend!
The service from Mr. Mitchell was pretty good to me, I dont get why theres so many 1 star reviews on here.
Well, he gives good enough prices when you are buying, BUT. I recently purchased 6 one-ounce Silver Eagle Dollars, and 3 turned out to be FAKE!After I examined the fake Silver Eagles, I approached him the next day, he became defensive, beligerent, and aggressive and was reluctant to take back the coins. He stated that we cant know that I even sold these coins to you, nobody took a picture of the coins next to the receipt bla bla bla I even showed him the receipt and still he didnt want to give me real coins in exchange until I pressed him, then he thankfully [finally] pulled 3 silver dollars out of a mint tube and I could instantly tell the difference just by touching the coins.I havent been back to him since, for buying or selling. Also, do not ever sell anything to this guy, if it isnt valuable high value gold bullion [junk silver, silver coins and bullion, and even smaller gold bullion [1/10 oz, 1/4 oz].I guess he sees the dollar signs on the sellers high value items and really wants them, but otherwise he will RIP YOU OFF his rates on trade-ins are RIDICULOUS and even if you believe you deserve more than 50% of the trade value, he will simply tell you well people simply dont pay much for these coinsI walked out and refused to sell to him. There is a business in a nearby community that will pay you 85-90% of the coins METAL value, no matter what kind of coin, big or small, as long as its real, and no matter if people supposedly dont pay much for these coins. This mean scrooge will offer you less than 60% of the coins silver or gold melt value value. Not retail, MELT VALUE!!That means he will buy your U.S 90% silver Peace dollar [Melt value of ~$12 @ 16.75 dollar silver rates] for less less than $9, and turn around and sell the coin [depending on the quality] for retail price at 20-24 dollars!! Over a 100% return on his purchase. Great job screwing over loyal locals..I can get more selling them on eBay, even with shipping and fees included.Overall, do not recommend. This guy needs to step his game up big-time, or sell the business.
Just spoke with this owner and he is a fraudulent individual. I tried to exchange currency from another country and he tried to rip me off on the value. Dont do business with these people. Thieves!!!!
Ive been doing business with Gossett for 11 years. One of the best around. He will always, always, always treat you fair and with respect.
One of the BEST services that i have used in a long time. Highly recommended.
Great experience here. Helpful and friendly.
Honest and to the point. Trustworthy!
There was nothing to see here. I read the reviews and clearly this owner is defrauding people. I bet he replies to this review calling me a liar and stating I’m trying to extort him to remove this negative review.
I went there two years ago and I got some pens to detect fake currency and 95% of the currency that I got at the store were fake.
For currency exchange: when they tell you they give you a market rate, they are lying. They mark up on top of it. Plus, they charge an exchange fee. Overall, worse than local banks.
Communicative service, got what I wanted
Quick attention and kind. Fair exchange rate.
