Unfortunately due to relocating, I am moving. However, I could not be more pleased with my year at the Elms at Oakton. From the leasing office, to the maintenance staff, to overall quality. Anna and her team were helpful if and when issues came up. They responded quickly too which was nice! The maintenance staff were some of the friendliest people to interact with, always saying hello or being kind to my puppy. The apartments are updated and kept clean. You won’t be upset leasing short term or long!
If I could give zero or negative stars for this community I absolutely would. Be prepared to pay for a professional carpet cleaning service when you move out, which they do not mention anywhere when you notify them of you intent to vacate. And after you do that, prepare to see a charge against your deposit for them to hypothetically change the carpet anyways (could just be a scam for more money). This is coming from someone who has no pets, no kids, and pays someone to come in and clean regularly. This place is a ripoff and the front office is garbage.
I love living at The Elms at Oakton! Especially during COVID, it was reassuring moving into an apartment home that was freshly updated and CLEAN! My apartment home looked as if it hadnt been lived in. The community itself is safe and the grounds are well kept. The staff is professional and their maintenance team is prompt to resolve any issues. If I dont purchase a home in the near future, I will be renewing my lease!
Extremely noisy area. I thought it would be a quiet area, but between the neighbors and the maintenance people, it is absolutely not. I’m also not impressed with the infrastructure of these apartments. The rent is high and the quality of the apartments are cheap.
I am a new tenant, but so far everything is great. George in the front office made the viewing and leasing process so simple. He was informative, patient, and you could tell really knew what he was doing. He encouraged me to ask questions and look for more information in places I had not even thought of before leasing. He and Lisa responded quickly to all my questions, and George really worked with me to get in a unit that I was comfortable with, given that I have a toddler. Highly recommend!
DO NOT MOVE HERE!!! The walls are super thin. I can hear my neighbors’ conversations, music, tv, etc. They have a real bad insect problem, and their phony pest control service doesn’t help. You’d be better off spraying water around the perimeter of your home as your pesticide. These apartments are so cheaply made and thrown together. It’s overpriced cardboard.
I received one of the best treatments by staff and the service provided. I have to give a special thanks to the Assistant Property Manager, Ms. Anna Teodoro. She truly went over and above to ensure that my moving experience was wonderful and promptly follow-up with my requests regarding the apartment in what was needed. I love the design of the apartment, my view, and the natural lights. I would highly recommend the Elms at Oakton.
This place is fantastic! Me and my roommate needed a new place quickly and The Elms and Anna were so incredibly welcoming and accommodating! The apartments are very spacious and clean in a really nice community that makes for a perfect home. Anything we’ve needed has been taken care of perfectly and they are quick as well! Would give more then 5 stars if I could.
GREAT PLACE!!! CLEAN!!! RENT HERE!!! This place is in a great location! The property is very clean and the units are spacious and well taken care of! Anna Teodoro showed myself and my roommate a couple different units that we could rent and we were shocked at how they compared to other properties. She was able to get us in the day after looking at the units. The management here is very friendly and returned our phone calls without having us wait in anxiety. Both her and George wer very welcoming. Upon driving around in the golf cart more than 3 Tenants waved and greeted her as she showed us around. This is a small thing but SAYS a lot about their performance. So happy we moved here and look forward to being part of this community!!!
Ive been a tenant here since September. The office staff have been nothing but helpful and kind. The walls are a little thin and can hear my downstairs neighbors at times but they are usually quiet as well as outside noise but the community is usually very quiet. Plentiful resident and guest parking. Timely maintenance request fixes and a convenient Amazon hub locker. Also no issues with appliances and living space.
Ana was great in solving my problem with my account. She always ready to help, from the moment we move in to now she always care for our comfort and well being.Thank you Ana for your constantly support.
I moved in over the summer. Cause of covid I want not able to visit before I moved. But I made a great decision. I love my apartment and the neighborhood is fantastic. The staff is great. Lisa helped me during my move. She was great to work with and always quick to respond. She was upfront with the costs and all the information I needed to know.
I spent about a year at the Elms, and it was one of best residences that I’ve encountered. The area is beautiful, the neighbourhood is great, and the leasing office, along with management were all helpful into making the settling process simple. All desired or preferred amenities are conveniently there as well— amazing property with a great team accompanying it.
First, When I was apartment shopping I came across this community via apartmentsGuide.com around 5:55 (remind you they close at 6) I spoke to George and he didn’t rush me off the phone or anything. He was very patient, answered all my questions and scheduled me to come tour the property the following morning. We was looking to sign a lease ASAP so he showed us a unit that would be available on the floor we requested. He explained everything took us around the property to show us the offered amenities (btw the gym is open & following COVID-19 guidelines), and very informative & explained the current specials/discounts they offered. We decided to put in an application the next day. He was very patient throughout the application process with us needing to turn in various different documents. Before moving in we did a walk through and pointed out a few issues (very minor) & they were solved the next day. The units are spacious with a nice size balcony & updated appliances. Really quiet neighborhood & it’s always parking. I’m a new tenant but so far everything is fantastic. Highly highly recommend!
I lived at the Elms in Oakton For three years and was very happy. The staff made me feel welcome, well taken care of and concerned for my comfort and welfare. I moved away for health reasons . I have wonderful memories of my beautiful apartment and equally beautiful management.
Don’t believe the bad reviews I love living here! If you don’t break the rules it’s a great place to live! Location and staff are great, even during a pandemic.
I will say for the years living at Elms at Oakton, I had a pleasure to feel at home. Very clean and well kept community. The apartments are well renovated. The management team always on top of their community ; by doing events throughout the week to interact with their community. It’s been a pleasure sharing and seeing my twin boys grow in this beautiful community. I will recommend living here!!!
You will not regret it! The community is great, the neighborhood is very prime, the leasing team is amazing, George has been a huge help in helping me find the perfect apartment.
Great place to live! Anna was very helpful, responsive and made my move-in run smoothly and efficiently. She also helped me make a decision on which apartment better suited my needs! Grounds are well kept and the neighborhood is beautiful. Would definitely recommend!
The team in the leasing office is so helpful at the Elms. I was looking for properties 3 months prior to moving into the community and their help took so much stress off of me. Since I’ve moved in, I finally feel at home.
Ive lived here for the past 3 years and have loved it. The maintenance staff is always friendly, and so is the leasing office. Especially Anna, she is super sweet and always willing to help!
My freedom of expression was taken away from me today. We have a candidates flag and the American Flag inside of our apartment in our window. We were told that we had to take our flag down because it was offensive. Meanwhile as I walk the property on a daily basis I would see yard signs on the property for the other candidate. The leasing office actually threatened to evict me if I did not remove that flag that was inside of my residence.
Great staff, they truly make you feel at home, there was this beautiful young Lady named Anna, she was very professional and knowledgeable. The grounds are beautiful, and very clean.
I want to especially thank and praise Anna Teodoro for her efforts in getting me set up to live at The Elms at Oakton. She provided the efficiency and integrity that was missing in my dealings with individual rental condo owners while finding me an apartment that is perfect for me.
I have lived in this place for 3 years, the community is very quiet and safe, there is nothing to complain about the environment of the community, but for the management team, I want to say that Anna is a very warm and friendly lady, she helped me solve it A lot of problems. But Mr. George is not very ideal. He will only give official answers to the questions of the residents consultations, and will not help the residents. I hope the management team understands that a good community is not just an accommodation environment, but more importantly, it can help residents solve problems!
I came here to look for an apartment, and the area is so nice and well kept for a first impression of the area, the staff as well were very kind and Anna was very helpful with any questions i had. Great place to look for an apartment.
Great place to live. Anna from the management staff is wonderful! She is very kind and helpful.
Neighbors are very immature as rude! Don’t even get me started about the leasing office staff! WORST service and extremely unprofessional!!! Especially George! I would recommend finding a more welcoming living community!
My roommate and I are elementary school teachers who lived here for 7 months. We cannot move out fast enough. Management charged us with the replacement of perfectly fine carpet in the entire apartment, and without even contacting us beforehand. Hung up on us when we tried to speak with them. Dishonest people. Do not recommend living here unless you want terrible interactions and constant anxiety.
Not sure where to begin!! Noise, Noise, Noice. They have storages for their maintenance management in the breezeway and their team store the equipments in there. They come every morning as early as 7am and make a lot of noise which force us to wake up!! They pickup and return the equipments to the storage all day long! I have to wash the car every time they mow the lawn, you can imagine why! I dont have time to go over all the bad things over there, but if you want my advice, STAY AWAY
An Amazing experience from the first visit. We Choose Elms at Oakton apartments for my spouse and I to build a family. Our first encounter was a refreshing one. Anna, very professional young lady held our hand the whole way making our first home experience a memorable one. Maintenance staff are quick and efficient from the moment you call. Property Management team Dawn,Winnie, and Anna strive to ensure were happy, They get things done quickly which is a plus for me personally. They truly have made it a great place to call home. Each of them are extremely helpful in their own very unique, yet professional way. Property management team are prompt in communicating with us. From newsletters to emails. The new upgraded swimming pool, to the Car wash area(vacuum/Air) for all residents access, Parks for both kids & Dogs upcoming events for residents to attend to give a community vibe........Well done team!!!!!!! The grounds are kept exceptionally well,Amazing team & New renovations are the Wow Factor. Friendly faces and neighboring businesses (restaurants,Grocery stores,Metro,Beltway Route 66/495 loop ) only a exit or two from the best shopping in the DMV area (Tysons Corner Best mall hands down!!!!!!!!!!)Looking for peace and happiness this is a great place to leave.
The maint staff is wonderful! They are always quick and efficient. Anna with the management staff is also wonderful! She is very helpful and sweet to work with.
The leasing staff makes you feel like you are family. Winnie, Dawn, and Anna are the perfect trio. They always answer your questions and respond to any concerns you may have promptly. The maintenance team is quick and very efficient. It is such an ideal location everything is about 10-15 minutes away. I recommend it to everyone !
Anna was amazing in helping me with my lease and to chose the right apartment. I could tell the staff there really cares about the residents, they were awesome. The manager could not have been more welcoming to me! I cant wait to move in, and hopefully live at the Elms for many years to come.Connie Tate
This facility is wonderful! The staff is always there and helpful> if there is maintenance issue, you report it through their portal and the work is completed in days if not hours. The workout facility is up to date and quite inclusive. As for location it could not be better! within minutes we have Three pizza joints, a sushi bar, a Dunkin Donuts, Giant foods, liquor store and pharmacy. We are moving into a larger place, but this location was perfect for us. I will miss being here.
My company has been staying with this complex for the past 5-6 years and weve had the best experience. All of the apartments have been newly renovated with new appliances. The staff is very friendly and responsive to requests. And the apartments themselves are very spacious with great amenities in the complex. I would highly recommend this community for the fairfax area!
Anna is the best employee that the management has to offer. She is very helpful and knows what she is doing. She is awesome and she can help you find the right apartment.
This is an amazing community. I’m living here for 2 years and now I’m renewing my lease for another year. I couldn’t find a better place than where I am now. The crew in the leasing office are kind and helpful, a lot of thanks to Mrs. Glasper and Mrs. Anna for all the help you do for the community.
Prospective resident... was looking to visit.Does not honor their online booking system for a visit to see units. They cancelled my reservation without reason. This was after I got an in writing confirmation that I was scheduled. If its not available, it shouldnt be able to be reserved.I was offered 2 time slots (same day) as a remedy, however after confirming a time, they told me the day after they couldnt honor that either.Dont offer times you dont have! Based on this experience, I am skeptical the leasing team is capable in their function. If problems exist this early in the process, thats a red flag.
Great location, the grounds are very well kept and the leasing office is always very helpful
From the time of my schedule tour to my move in day, Anna and George made the process very easy, this is my second time Im living at The Elms At Oakton and I couldnt be any happier! The staff is amazing, they always make sure im taking care of and always respond to my needs as soon as possible. If anybody looking to move here, trust me you wont regret it!
Management has a lot of issues and we constantly had plumbing problems in our unit that took more than a year to fix. The neighbors were very loud as well. Overcharge for moving out.
I was so happy with Anna and Dawn. They were very helpful when my mom and I were moving in. I definitely recommend asking for Anna to help you with your application. She was very responsive and super helpful to me. Even though applying to places can be very stressful she made it easier for us. She always let us know what it is we needed and tried to help our needs. We applied to an apartment we didnt see and we changed it last minute because we did not like the location of it and she quickly moved it to a different apartment that was more what we wanted. My mom and I had a pleasant experience there.
We’ve had a lot of ups and downs at this apartment, but Dawn Webster has really gone above and beyond to right all the wrongs. She, as well as Anna (not sure if that’s how you spell it) and Winnie (the property manager), listened to us and gave us solutions to our problems. I’m very grateful for this trio and we are looking forward to renewing our lease.Pros:Great locationUpdated inside as well as community amenitiesCaring staffGreat parkingCool community eventsClose to good schoolsCons:It can be noisy. We have some college kids that listen to music a little loud, but after asking nicely, they lowered it and never get loud past 8pm anymore.I would definitely recommend this apartment complex to anyone.
Im surprised by the number of bad reviews on here. I had a great experience living here and had I not relocated for work, I would have renewed my lease. The rent is reasonably priced, our service requests were answered in a timely fashion and the move out process was very easy (high lease break fee, but thats any apartment). Dawn in leasing was very helpful and friendly as well. I would recommend to a friend.
We have been living at the Elms at Oakton for 6 months now and have loved it so far. The apartments are in a great location and we had a very easy time with applying. Dawn and Anna are both very responsive and helpful. The apartments are pretty spacious and a good price compared to other locations in the NoVa area.
Dawn and Winnie have been exceptional as Property Mgmt Dream Team! I love that I was greeted with a warming smile and total problem-solvers!
Very loud banging noises coming from roof! Click, Click, Click, Click!!! Roof need to be fixed
Im also very surprised by the amount of bad reviews! The apartment complex staff and maintenance teams have been very helpful and courteous in our two years here. Service requests are always handled quickly and they have a nice variety of resident events!
I was a little concerned with moving in this past February as they had a 1.8 rating if I remember correctly, but the rent was affordable and the apartments were spacious and clean. We were able to get a free month of rent so my roommate and I took advantage. Within the first week of moving in we noticed the dishwasher was leaking, so we put in a service request and they came and replaced it the very next morning. Ever since it has been nothing but great. Service requests get taken care of quickly, and the leasing staff have been very helpful and friendly. There are monthly events/happy hours/community building gatherings and every one Ive been to has been very nice. My roommate and I are moving into our own separate apartments somewhere cheaper when our lease ends in February, but if it wasnt for our need for independence, wed be re-signing here for sure. Thanks Elms at Oakton for a great year!
Ive had a great experience so far, though I was scared to give this place a chance at first according to many older online reviews. They must have really picked themselves up due to a change in management. The staff is friendly and helpful to the best of their ability, the location is great in VA, pricing is fair, and the rooms are nice and big.
The Elms at Oakton is a great place to live. It is a hidden gem. Management and Staff are very nice and helpful. I feel like Im in a hidden community with all the trees and green grass. It is right in the middle of Fairfax and it feels like you have left the city. I love it here. I have a small dog and there are plenty of doggie stations. The doggie park is the best Ive every seen. It has a lot Agility equipment and benches for owners to sit and relax. There is a water fountain for the dogs to drink from. Maintenance is fast and reliable. I would recommend anyone to look at this property for rental possibility. Oh, by the way tell The Elms at Oakton that I sent you. They give incentives to the residents for referrals
Move in was great and a great staff Anna and George was helpful
I am very happy with the exceptional service and management. This is a great location, nearby both Fairfax and Vienna City Centers.
The staff is very attentive
They charged us more than $600 for carpet and CLEANING fee Thats really unfair as we removed all items, trash and we cleaned up the whole apartment upon move-out, really disappointed!!
100% Thorough I Love Living here!!!!!!!Real nice place to live Thanks Dawn,Winnie, and Anna for all you do.
Their office is terrible when it comes to all forms of communication, especially email. They would send out URGENT! messages that werent at all urgent. Announcements would commonly have basic spelling and grammatical errors that made it unclear what they were actually trying to tell us. When communicating with them they would sometimes only answer one part of our emails, or just ignore questions that we had asked. This was mostly unimportant and not a big deal until we had to move out. We sent them an email two and a half months in advance telling them that we were moving out and asking if they needed anything from us. We got zero response. A month away from moving out we send another email hey are you sure you dont need anything from us, we are still planning on moving out this month. They ask us to fill out and hand in some form, they dont tell us they need it as soon as possible.A week after moving out we find out that they are charging us a half month of rent because we only notified them on the 14th of the month (when we handed in the form). They of course ignore the multiple other times that we notified them by email, and never told us that they did not consider this notification.Their terrible emails and atrocious communication was comical until they sent us a nearly $1000 bill for their mistake.Work order response times were fast, but we had a few instances of them showing up to complete work orders that we had not asked for. Im guessing someone else wrote in the wrong apartment number. But there was no confirmation with us that we had ever asked for the work order, so if you dont want your landlord coming into your apartment on a mistaken work order then maybe look elsewhere.Floors were thin. We lived on a second floor unit with tenants above us. Not sure if they had a playground set up there, but it sounded like it.Appliances were a little old, but worked fine.Snow removal was pretty quick, all you had to do was dig out behind your car.Overall our stay was ok. But I would recommend people be very careful about not getting screwed over by their office doing something wrong. Two stars for charging us for their mistakes, and the shady invasion of privacy via surprise work orders.
Management at this complex has lost documents, charged unexpected fees, and changed important dates without any notice. As youll read from other posters, the management here changes often. I talked with one woman on the phone during her first day there, and she had quit by the time I went in to speak with representatives the following day. Theyve charged fees where no fees were before, pushed back apartment-ready dates without any notification and lost receipts of deposit (such that they claimed a deposit was still due). Most recently, they threatened to put the apartment I had been approved for (and paid the deposit on) back on the market unless further fees were paid. When I first went in, everything seemed very nice. Despite being very old (which leads to unusually high heating and A/C bills) the apartments are okay, and if you tour a renovated model, the upgrades make them look moderately decent. Yet since I was approved three weeks ago, problem after problem has arisen, with no solution.Would not recommend.
Do not move here! I moved in April 2016. Three managers in the short time I have been here. I was shocked to see the comment about Desma and Iris. When Desma was here she met me on her day off when I needed to speak with her. Shes fair and explained management to me which gave me a better understanding of why things are done a certain way. I was upset and felt the policy was wrong. I thank her for educating me and finding a solution to my problem. I met Theresa right after Desma was gone, she has no clue as to what she is doing or saying. Then the new property manager I spoke with for 5 mins. I went to the office 3 days later and she was no longer working there! I guess Theresa ran her off as well. I think the management company sucks! Theresa is a liar! She never meets with you and has more excuses as why she cant. No one they put in that office has a clue! So happy to see Iris back. The end of my lease cant come fast enough!
May seem nice initially but do not be fooled. The property manager Desma and her employee Iris are down right liars and rude. My husband and I were speaking with her about a letter we relieved on our door and she was rude, hung up on us and even lied to her superior saying my husband was cursing at her which was a complete lie. Iris is no better since she seems to be Desmas little minion lol. When I told her superior, Karen, her employees were lying to her she immediately took their side even though she was not privy to any part of the conversation. In addition they lost our $400 pet deposit which was a money order and placed neatly on their desk (since they were too busy to actually assist us) and are now claiming that we never paid it since they have no record of it. I wouldnt be surprised if one of the low life dishonest employees took it.More Cons-Although the apartments are designed nicely (we have the 2 bdrm plus loft) they are not built the best. For example, in our apartment there is a large crack in the drywall going up the stairs that randomly appeared, many light switch covers were installed correctly, there is one switch that goes to nothing, the bathroom toilet paper holder was installed crookedly, etc.. There are also many apartments with bug problems including ours. In addition, the walls are very thin. When my neighbors turn on their bathroom fan at 2 am I can hear it and it is loud enough to not be able to go back to sleep. Another thing we have an issue with in terms of structure is our cable and internet do not always work. Verizon came out took a look and said this was due to incorrect wiring which causes lack of power.Another thing we do not like is the lack of privacy. For example, management sent out a notice that the electricians would be coming by to do work on the units in our complex. Yesterday the electricians showed up, cut the electricity for about 4 hours to do work. Whats the big deal you may ask? This was not scheduled nor was there an option to have them scheduled, they just randomly showed up. For most people this may not be an issue, however, we run a business and do most of our work at home and on top of that we have a 7 month old. Additionally, when you ask that these constant maintenance appointments (no joke like 2 or 3 every couple of months) they will completely disregard your request. They said the carpet was new when e moved in, however, it was not (We blacklight tested it the day we moved in on our own and found many stains).Mail guy is constantly putting things in our mailbox that do not belong to us or putting things of ours in others mailbox. In addition he keeps putting the key to all the mailboxes in our box which is annoying (not sure who even would fix this issue). They could ice the walkways better in winter. There is a driveway thing by our apartment and an area that freezes over more that I and many other residents have slipped or almost slipped on. One of these was a pregnant lady. They decided not to renew our lease at the end of the month which is fine since we are purchasing a house anyway, simply because we failed to keep them up to date on our pet situation (we moved in with a dog who we rehomed because she was too hyper around our baby. We told them this and were refunded our pet deposit. We then got another dog, paid the pet deposit (which they either lost or stole) and that dog died from old age. We then got another dog from the shelter who ended up attacking my husband a few days after we brought him home and so the shelter let us pick out a puppy who we have had now for the past 6 months which they are just now noticing). Nowhere in the lease does it say anything regarding keeping them specifically up to date on our dog situation. This place is a joke and only appears nice. If you like lack of privacy and love dealing with the rude dregs of society (aka the property manager) live here.
Extremely loud neighbors. We complained multiple times about people being too loud at night, keeping us up, but it seems that management took little if any action to change things.
Great Location, staff, and apartments.
Dirty apartments they have roaches
This community is very well maintained inside and out, with regular quarterly maintenance, and any scheduled maintenance you may need, promptly and efficiently. The grounds are well maintained. Safety of the facilities is always managed. Ive never seen any bugs or critters. Neighbors are all pretty quiet and respectful. Amazon hub is a nice perk. Ce really located between Chain Bridge Rd./123 and Jermantown Road, and close to Interstate 66, Rt. 50, Lee Hwy, Beltway and Vienna Fairfax Metro. Plenty of shopping, schools, churches, and Oak Marr rec center and golf complex nearby. The Elms pool is well maintained as is the gym facility. This is an excellent place to live! - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings
