I moved to this practice with Shiela. I love the fact that I always feel welcomed, and they genuinely care about your mental health. I now see Melissa Root, and she is awesome and attentive! Best psychiatric facility I have ever been to! I would and do recommend this practice to everyone I know with addiction issues, mental health issues, or just an ear to listen!

I was very pleased with Fairborn Mental Health when I ended up having to have my records transferred there. The place I came from was ideal but I had to transfer elsewhere due to my psychiatrist leaving the facility and then being understaffed, not having anyone that specialized in what I needed.Initially, at Fairborn mental health, I saw a psychiatrist that I loved and clicked with who seemed to have my best interest in mind and listened to ME about my OWN mental health. She respected me.And then the coronavirus became a big thing. So I was passed along from psychiatrist to psychiatrist as my original psychiatrist was needed elsewhere because of the virus. I understand that, by the way! I am not mad at that. Anyway. I have been passed between two psychiatrists my last 3 or so visits. One of them I saw one time (or you know, talked to via phone appointment). She did not know me on a personal level and after she was informed about me stopping my cymbalta which I had been on for a decent amount of time, she had a lot to say about that. And her words were along the lines of “bipolar people don’t do well without medication. They lose jobs, they don’t finish college, they can’t even carry on healthy romantic relationships.” So that was nice to know :) I guess being bipolar means you won’t have those things because you aren’t worthy of them due to a mental illness that you could’ve been born with! That is unless you’re a medicated zombie for the rest of your life! And she also spoke of WHEN I do relapse into depression or mania... not IF. WHEN.The other psychiatrist that I have been seeing since then doesn’t know me well but knows me a bit better than this lady did. I will not name any of them. But she did end my phone appointment the other day with “if you become manic, let us know right away!!! That can be dangerous, you’ll damage meaningful relationships and it can be really really bad” telling me this as if 1. I’ve never experience mania before and 2. As if I’m not responsible enough and able minded to call them if I feel myself becoming manic or depressed again! I’ve asked people that I’m close to who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and treated for it if they’ve ever had anyone who was a professional speak to them the way I have been spoken to by these doctors and each person I asked said no. It’s a money game of course. They want you to feel insane and become reliant on medication so that they get your money and in the process of doing that, they break you down with their words. I’ve also noticed that the psychiatrists here don’t listen very well. One that I had asked me how therapy was going... when I told her I hadn’t been in therapy for two years even though I have a therapist lined up if I need to go back.So that’s my take on it! Going on four months without medication and doing absolutely fine but they won’t believe me because I’m just a batsh*t crazy patient to them who can’t make rational, adult decisions and they want my money anyhow! We will see how my next appointment goes but this place seems like they don’t want to help you with your mental illness. They want to keep you sick.

Completely and utterly unprofessional. From walking in the door to see no one wearing a mask to peddling mood altering drugs in complete disregard of past diagnoses. Production line type appointments, you get the feeling that youre bothering the doctors who have seemingly much more important things to do. Be ready to answer the same four questions every visit, whose answers are completely ignored until the next visit when those same four questions are answered again to be ignored. Any attempt to explain problems outside those four questions is met with dismissal and underplayed. Dont ask to hear what notes the Dr. has written down, as far as I can tell there arent any. Pandering is the name of the game. In my admittedly uneducated opinion, these doctors are just checking boxes to have excuses to prescribe addictive mood altering drugs, and to force you to come back for a check up one a month.

After having a bad experience with mental health doctors in the past, I had given up on seeking treatment. I’m glad I decided to try again with Fairborn Mental Health because this is an incredible place. Every single person is smiling and kind. I’m truly amazed at how pleasant Kiana and the other young women at the front desk always are, it’s such a nice experience- even just to schedule an appointment! The building itself doesn’t match the incredible service you will receive from the professionals who work here but don’t judge this book by its cover; I am a little uncomfortable with the thin walls but I believe the last time I was in, they were making an effort to change that. I’m more than happy I had been referred to Fairborn Mental Health. I know how embarrassing seeking mental health treatment can feel to admit you need help, to have to explain what’s going on and to worry you’re “just another patient.” Never once have I felt ashamed, misunderstood or undervalued coming in or out of their doors.

This is an amazing place to go and It is not just for people that are addicted to things. I went to see Ms. Sheila for a mental evaluation, there were things I didnt want to hear but definitely needed to... she kept it REAL!! She was very professional but at the same time didnt sugarcoat anything at ALL. I would most definitely recommend her to anyone in need of an evaluation, but only if you want to know the truth. Ms. Sheila is very passionate about what she does and it most definitely shows. Thanks for all your help and continued help Ms.Sheila

When I transferred following Dr. G. Kluge from the previous office he was at on Woodman Drive (which was just awful) to this newer office, I was so relieved. This office is much nicer, theres not as long a wait, youre treated a little better here, and the staff doesnt play patient phone call voice mails ON SPEAKER PHONE as they did at the other office. This is a much more professional atmosphere, and I am so glad I switched.

Great place for healing. My son passed in 2017 from a relapse. The autopsy found heroin laced with fentanyl and acrylfentanyl in his system.I went to Fairborn Mental Health for help with my grief. The staff was kind and attentive. They went the extra mile to help me and I truely appreciate the empathy I felt.I realized they also treated addictions. I dropped into one of the groups and everyone was at ease and seemed eager to be there. I saw nor felt any judgement only a deep desire to help and heal.I wish my son had found such care. If he had, he might be here today.I know how heartbreaking addiction can be. Whether you have the disease or you suffer with someone who has it, this is the place to go.They offer medically assisted help and counseling for recovery. They will also be doing art therapy, drumming circles, singing bowls, and other modes of healing. My son had no where to go, but now there is a place. I hope we all, as a community, heal and beat this epidemic.Peace 🙏
