I would not recommend this counseling center. I did the initial assessment and paid around $250 out of pocket. They said they would get in touch with me about scheduling but I never received a follow-up call. I got busy with work and life and after over a month I called back to inquire about setting up a new appointment. The therapist they had assigned to me only had hours available while I was working, which I said I could not do on a regular basis (she ended at 2pm). I asked if someone else was available, and they again said they would check with the the therapist and see if they could either modify the schedule or transfer me to someone else. I never received a second call back. It’s very unfortunate that I was trying to better myself by seeking counseling, yet they didn’t have the follow-through to help me out. I’m sure there are other providers in Fairbanks that care enough to work with their clients, and I will be looking elsewhere.Update: I received a call from the COO/CFO within 24 hours of posting this review. I added 2 stars for the quick response as he seemed genuinely interested in helping, but unfortunately since a refund would be ‘unethical’ due to insurance being involved there wasn’t much else they could do. He did say they are aware of the issue of people not being followed up with and they are trying to address that internally. He also did look around and contacted me again to recommend another therapist somewhere else who would maybe be better able to fit my schedule. Thank you Nick.

Doing outpatient treatment and counseling here truly changed my life. Just hit 8 years clean and sober. The staff is amazing and I loved the structure of the program I went through. Once I completed the program I met with my counselor once every few weeks to a month just to check in. He helped me navigate so many life issues that I normally used drugs and alcohol to hide from. I was able to face those issues head on and build a really strong foundation. I can confidently say I’m free from the obsession to use drugs and alcohol. By using Turning Point Counseling, I got my life back. 🙏🏼❤️ Thank youuu from the bottom of my heart.

I’ve been going here for almost five years and this office has been extremely supportive and understanding of my needs. Seeking help for my family because my kids are scared. Called and spent an hour filling all their paperwork online. Never heard back from them. Called back 3 months later. At first they told me my insurance is not accepted then when I talked to my insurance, I called back and they said they do accept my insurance with a $12,000 deductible and they wouldnt work with me. Rude incompetent staff. Very disturbing that they do not help regular folks.

I’ve been attending counseling appointments for about 7 months now, by personal choice, after recognizing that I needed to do more than just cope with problems and behaviors. Full disclosure, I’m fortunate enough to have insurance that covers 80% of the cost for 30 appointments annually after my deductible.I’ve noticed a significant positive improvement in my mentality and behavioral patterns. Counseling is showing a real impact on my quality of life. I recommend it to everyone, even just to make one appointment and see for themselves if it’s something they want to continue to pursue.Staff is professional, the setting is pleasant, and I am really thankful that I chose to make a commitment to attend counseling services here.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at Turning Point Counseling. The counselors I interacted with were extremely professional and empathetic, and I am incredibly thankful for the help and support I received there.

I’ve been to probably almost every therapy office in town, and I’m telling you Turning Point is the best. They’re always super polite and friendly, they work with my schedule, and they’ve been flexible with my out of pocket payments. I don’t know how they do with assessments, but for general therapy sessions they do very well for me. Definitely would recommend.

Im suffering from ptsd I was referred here by my doc. As some with this may know, you have no hope day after day. Fnding this place along with getting in so soon gave me a little hope. I was told they would call to let me know, before my appointment what I would owe. Getting no call, I assume i am good. I pushed through two nights got to my appointment to be told I owe $400 and cant be seen till. Total waste a of time and a day off. As for others I hope you have a great experience n good luck to everyones recovery. as for me I wont be returning.

Great place with great people that genuinely want to help.

This place is a scam, my wifes probation required her to be evaluated here and this place told them that she needed to go to 10-12 counselings here based on nothing, I had to pay all out of pocket for unnecessary counsellings. This place takes advantage of people in difficult situations to make money. They dont even provide counseling services, just play movies like a 1st grade teacher on a hangover would. They are taking advantage of people that cant complain because these people can recommend jail time to the probation office if not paid. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

I love Turning Point. Turning Point helped me overcome my addictions and sent me on the road to recovery. The clinicians are awesome, many of them are in recovery themselves which I found very comforting. After suffering from severe PTSD, anxiety and depression for over 15 years, I was able to overcome those burdens thanks to help from Turning Point. Turning Point has an intensive outpatient program for those suffering from addictions who cannot leave their jobs for an inpatient program, which was outstanding. I believe you get results based on how much effort you put into getting better. In my case I now live a wonderful life free of addictions, free of debilitating mental conditions such as anxiety and depression. I worked hard and got amazing results. I cant say enough good things about Turning Point!

I referred myself to turning point after receiving a DUI (bulls*hit) while attempting to charge my cell phone in a parked car as part of an attempt to lessen my sentence before the actual sentencing. I was naive and stupid to think these people would help. After charging me 500$ for a DUI assessment I had to listen to the owner lie to me about a normal DUI arrest BAC level while trying to assure me about how God was not part of their program. A tip for those running turning point, if you are going to spout lies, make sure you cant immediately google the statistics after leaving. It just makes you look bad. After (thankfully) removing myself from these people, I talked with the local Alcohol Safety Action Program and was shocked to learn that most DUI assessments run under 100$. These people will try to use misdirection and faulty statistics to throw you into a 12-stepish program, while at the same time claiming to help you. They are only interested in money and labeling others as substance abusers (ask the owner how many DUIs theyve received). Its amazing FASAP would recommend these people, they are truly the epitome of the DUI industry.Heads up for those who go there for assessments, the second in command likes to accidentally run into you around town. Following someone for 45 minutes after leaving isnt an accident, its called stalking and is illegal. If you want to force your puritanical views on others, leave the ones who have already been knocked down alone.
