Independent is a rarity. The service was excellent, equipment was in great shape and anyone I spoke to from rental to delivery to return were genuinely nice. How refreshing is that these days? Probably shouldnt give this review because I may need them again in the future and I dont want them to be sold out 😀

Everyone from Independent Rental in Fairbanks was such a joy to work with. They went out of their way to work with me so that the rental of the skidsteer coincided with Alask Waste schedule for dumping and returning the roll-off dumpster. At times staff from Independent Rental even accommodated my needs by changing their regular schedules. They were exceptional in assisting me with gaining the information I needed to make informed choices to handle various situation I ran into while completing my tasks. I really have nothing but the very best to say about this family run business who treats their customers like family!

Counter people are polite and courteous. Do your own research on what tools you need before you come in as they arent very well educated on their products and the tools capabilities.

GREAT, FRIENDLY, LOCAL COMPANY!!I cant believe the 1st reviewers comments!! 1st off they ARE open on Sat. & if you rent on Sat. you keep it until Mon. for the 1 day rate & 2nd, there is no way you loaded your own tables and chairs! They do all that themselves, and their warehouse guy is strong, so he has stuff loaded quick and shakes your hand before you leave! They have always been more than helpful and compared to some of the other rental places in town, Independent is the most friendly and knowledgeable. If they dont know, they will try to learn, and if they dont have something you need they will do their best to help you find somewhere that does...even if its their competition!!

Always the best service and nicest employees..has a problem with a piece of equipment once and brought it back...was totally my fault as i did not listen to the start up instructions..they were kind and explained it again WITHOUT making me feel dumb for not listening. Thank you and keep it up.

** Update below** Please read if you are using Independent Rental for small engine service.I was in need of some plumbing (Pipe threading equipment). Independent rental was chosen due to the clearly defined pricing on their website. (I don’t like dealing with people if not needed, and their website clearly listed equipment available and current pricing). For this reason alone, I didn’t even call any other rental places, their prices were below what I expected to pay for the rental of the tools I needed.When I went to the store, I found plenty of parking available. The store was open and well laid out. The ladies at the counter were very friendly, attentive, and able to answer my questions. They were knowledgeable about the tools, usages and provided recommendations for proper use.During my use, I suspected one of the larger dies I needed (1-1/4) may have been dull, they provided me a different die and extended my rental.Upon further investigation, it was probably not the die that was causing the problem, a combination of 1-1/4 is more prone to “tear out” of threads, compounded by imported steel pipe being of sub-par quality (Local box store).The ladies at the counter were always a pleasure to deal with, even promptly picked up my name and addressed me by my name each time I came in (die change-out and return).While I do not typically have a large demand for rental tools/equipment, I will be returning to Independent rental for an upcoming project in 2020. I would recommend Independent based on their up-front information, knowledge of equipment. Parking and openness of the facility. The staff was friendly and outgoing, their attention to detail (referencing my name on visits) and even just asking how the project went and how close I was to finishing the overall project.I would like to publicly thank the folks at Independent Rental. They had a strong “family” vibe, welcoming and availability of the tools I needed. Thank you so much for your assistance, and I’ll be seeing you in 2020!**Update**I was in need of a small lift deck trailer for a heavy item move. When I went to pick up the trailer there was an elderly person there getting a nearly new snow blower serviced. The Tech invoiced them for a full work-up, Full service, oil change, spark plug, air filter. I remember thinking it was odd to just make that statement that it needed all that work just because he glanced at it. Fast forward a few hours later when I was returning the trailer and that same Tech was invoicing another small engine with the exact same diagnosis of repair.I would be cautious and ensure you are getting work you actually need. I had a genuine concern about charging customers for things they may not need. This seemed to be being practiced while I had made my visits in the two times I was in the store.It is my Opinion that they should have a diagnostic charge, identify what the issue is and give the customer a quote. Identify if the machine needs the full service they blanket charge and offer it BEFORE they charge the customer because they walked in the door.Proceed with caution!One last note: The lift deck trailer was a junk. It lifted the **800lb (Actually between 800-1000lb) I needed it to, but I dont know how it did.**Corrected to 800lb (from 1800lb). I was on the fence about using my small tractor (1200lb capacity) and took the safest route with the lift deck trailer. I apologize for incorrectly stating I lifted 1800lb vs. the 800-1000lb the object I needed to move was.

A tad expensive, but otherwise I havent had a problem with them. They have amazing customer service. On one occasion the pull handle broke off of a ditch witch I rented. I called em up they were out there in 20 minutes and got me up and running. I asked em how much, guy said first ones free. Cant beat customer service like that.

Fairly large selection of things to rent we got tables and chairs for a family wedding. They wont help you load it though so bring a strong back. And they werent open on Saturday so we had to pay for an extra day or we wouldnt be able to pick up our stuff.
