Great visit to Marty’s house and listening to her dog sled experience. I didn’t realize she was the first women who completed the 1000 miles race back in 1974. Her dogs are so cute and they behave so well. I hope Mary can stay healthy and I can have another chance to visit her in the future.

Tails of the Trail with Mary Shields was just wonderful! She is a lovely, genuine, down to earth person who invited us into her home and extended her hospitality with her freshly baked cookies and coffee. It was wonderful to get to visit with her and hear her life experiences. Her dogs are friendly and lovable and her garden has the most beautiful flowers. So glad we got to meet this extraordinary woman!

My son and I visited with Mary, her beautiful dogs and then - puppies in 2016 in the summer time, and we never have forgotten it. She shares of her remarkable life, treats in her beautiful home, and introductions to her faithful dogs. Over three years have passed and I still think of her often. Her kindness, the inspiration of her life - her gifts as a seamstress, her beautiful home and the way she arrived in Alaska, (her yummy cookies!!) and the tour around her land. Mary, we thank you! What an incredible and Unique experience! The story telling and setting and environment were welcoming and a one of a kind experience! We have a 12 and 14 year old and they loved it !

Mary speaks to everyone during her tours, and tells of some her amazing and not so amazing times on the dog trails. she also invites them inside her cabin for snacks and questions. I am a driver

Loved it! Marys story is fascinating, and she is a wonderfully warm and funny storyteller. Well worth the visit, even if you are a great dog lover. If you are a dog lover, this is a great place to visit, and interact with an actual team of sled dogs

Mary is a wonderful woman who has an awesome story to tell! Shell teach you all about mushing while you get to interact with the dogs. I highly recommend her to anyone curious about mushing!
