I was a member for 27 years, and even paid dues when they were closed due to COVID. When I had to move out of the area suddenly, I contacted them to close my account. They insisted that since I signed a contract requiring 30 days notice and that since I hadn’t notified them in a timely manner, they would charge another month plus pro rate the following month because of late notification. On top of that, they charged me late fees. Their draconian billing policies are astonishing. Buyer beware if you need to cancel your membership. Don’t get sick, or die, or move away without giving plenty of notice!
As someone who lifts, swims, and uses a steam/sauna everyday, this gym is ridiculously over priced especially given its location.. At the very most the memberships should cost $80 a month, for the amount and variety of work out equipment they have. Its basically a fancy rec center for people who can afford an extra car payment every month. Nothing special going on here, just a cool kids club for wealthier people to hang out at. If more gyms in Eugene had sauna, steam rooms, and pools this place and Elements would be out of business..
Love it there. Staff are friendly and professional. The gym is super clean with lots of equipment and class options.
The downtown athletic club is a beautiful place to work out swim mingle and sit inside of the day room there even have drinks up at the top. Very nice establishment and great people work there I wish I could afford to work out there great job guys
Although I dont workout here, I work here. Everyone is very friendly and down to earth. I am very grateful to have an awesome job where everyone treats you like family. Best job Ive ever had.
Exceptional facility! The staff Ive sat and spoken with are beautiful intelligent and mature, they are good people! This is like a second home and I feel Im developing a second family.I love all the equipment and the aesthetics of the lounge area.Thank you, Peace and Joy.Ms. Raven Wolf. What doesnt come out in the wash you can learn to love. ©
I remember the staff here being much more friendly and helpful. Perhaps its just part of this cultural trend weve seen in the valley these past couple of years.
Wow this place has the best strawberry lemonade I’ve ever had! The sweetest bartender made it for me from scratch in front of me! I loved done food and atmosphere. I’ll be back! Thanks Chelsea for serving us and making it a great experience!!
The club has taken all appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the members during the Covid-19 crisis. I feel very comfortable doing my regular workouts and hope that each member follow the guidelines to ensure the safety of all.
Best gym I’ve ever been a part of, period. Yes it’s more expensive than a typical gym, but all the amenities and the small crowds make it worth it. Plus tons of perks come with your membership
I love being a member at the DAC! From the state of the art gym to the cozy bar upstairs, it’s all amazing. My husband and I love going to Trivia Thursday. Annaliese, the host always is so much fun and we always have the best time. I look forward to seeing her every week!
This is a nice club but it is in my option very over priced. To join is is nearly $400 and then over $100 a month. After a year a two you could finance your own home gym. The trainers are good. If you need physical therapy go here.
My favorite gym in Eugene just seems to keep improving itself! Im sure this is the oldest gym in Eugene and it reinvents itself as it needs to, with music, a restaurant, wine tastings, holiday parties, great coffee at their little cafe, tanning, great classes and an updated gym with good staff. It is both family-oriented and for all. They were also one of the few smart enough to retain historical building, something that is rare in Eugene. Congratulations on good taste. Im sure it makes a difference in your membership! It seems people really like this gym for a multitude of reasons and a multitude of ages.
Amazing facilities and the staff go above and beyond. Great food and drink in the Axe Billy Grill upstairs. Have some wine on the deck at sunset. Cant beat it!
A unique place to hold a large business meeting. The eugene chamber of commerce holds their friday greeters here. Full breakfast and plenty of space.
Very pricy, but if you have the means its a fantastic place. Luckily, my job pays the fees and I can use their beautiful facilities. The staff is attentive but never intrusive. They a huge array of classes and options. I highly recommend this gym. Multiple power racks and benches with every accessory you can ask for.
Funny enough, everytime I have been here is actually for a meeting or a conference. I have not actually been to the workout facilities. All of the workers are courteous and very helpful.
Extremely nice atmosphere! Aaron Vea takes the time needed to explain all the aspects of the club, even the wine club. This place is amazing!
Such a beautiful facility and the staff is so helpful! If you get a chance to tour the facility ask for Aaron Vea! He truly cares about his members!
Ive been coming here for a year now and I dont think I can ever go back to any other gym. The DAC is always very clean and is kept together exceptionally well for being such an old, historic building. The staff are all very cool and actually seem like they enjoy working here. My favorites are the weight room, the exercise classes, and the steam room! They make some pretty awesome smoothies as well...which is almost worth the membership alone since theres no other place downtown that makes fresh smoothies.
Nicest athletic facility in town. Great place to meet friends after work or after workout in the lounge or restaurant. Friendly staff and plenty of programs to plug you in. You still have to provide the desire to get fit...the only thing that does not come with the membership.
The siracha queso sauce on the nachos was a lot of siracha and not much queso
Really nice facilities. More than you could ever want! A little pricey, but if you have the time in your life to take advantage of their services its a good deal.
So far, I have loved this Gym. They provide parking, and have tons of class options. For the price comparison of other gyms- like cross fit, barre 3, and yoga memberships, I think it is super worth the price. This gym offers barre classes now- which is what got me into the gym…My only complaint is they could be open later than 9. Sometimes I work pretty late and it would be nice to go in around 10. They could update some of their stair stepping equipment too.I think as of 2014 they have really attempted to revamp with better promos and affordability.
Love my club! Love the instructors and trainers. Like any business there is always something to improve and work on. The DAC is constantly improving and trying new things. My family loves Wednesdays half price wood oven pizza, restaurant staff is friendly.
Met a friend here for drinks and the entire experience pretty much sucked. Our cocktail waitress took quite some time to come and take our drink order. It was not that busy at the time. She poured us water and went back to get our wine. As I was drinking my water I noticed what looked like a ginger hair (not sure where the hair came from either) floating in my glass. I brought it up to the bar and asked the same server for another glass. She said okay and that she’d being it over. She promptly forgot about it as soon as I walked away. My companion and I wanted to order another drink and watched her go to every table but ours. My companion then tried to get the server’s attention with a discrete wave but she didn’t see. Another patron noticed us and told her that we had been waiting for awhile for her to come over to our table. We ordered another drink and asked for a water. A few minutes later she brought us our drinks sans water. I asked again for water to which she apologized and went back to get it. Finally, she brought it over. I guess the restaurant was nice enough but the service kind of ruined the whole experience. We thanked her and left a tip but I won’t be going back again.
Great food and service. Their staff are clearly trained to look for opportunities to serve. Every person I met was polite, personable and professional. Truly a classy establishment!
The best hamburgers and Fries I ate in a while nice fireplace on the third floor bar surge very weak drinks
I love the laundry services, place is clean and employees are nice. Jose, one of managers, is an example of wonderful customer service, I hope he runs the whole place some day!
I just joined facilities are well kept, has lots of different exercise areas, indoor pool, tennis, basketball, jacuzzi, sauna steam room, trainers are good,.looking forward to see this gym bring more things to the community, i would like to see their services more biodegradable, and some more music and speakers, and more art! and make unique oregon style haha. the basic they got it! also some pedal boarding classes could be cool!
I had a family membership in this club for a few years.I moved away about an year ago.I came for couple of weeks to Eugene recently, and stopped in the Club to purchase a weekly or daily pass, or just buy a pass for a few zumba classes, while I am in area.Answer was short. None of that possible. I told that I recently was a member, but it didnt help. - Member on ongoing basis, or guest of a member.Very disappointing. No DAY passes! Nor weekly, or monthly...
For not being a DAC member, I love taking their Pilates classes. Marilyn and Judith are amazing instructors and really make sure you get a core-strengthening workout. Ive been attending classes for almost 7 years and I I dont plan on ever stopping. The DAC itself seems nice and I have always had positive interactions with the employees.
Rude, not very nice employers.!!I wanted to look into start useing the downtown athletic club facilities,I was walking around the outside of the building and went in and basically treated like i dont belong there, the employee was very dismissive of my presence and almost like you dont have enough money to use our facilities. Very snooty people.
The DAC is my favorite gym in Eugene to catch a quick work-out coupled with a Steam & Sauna. Parking during rush hour can be hectic, but a bit of persistence always pays off in the end. They have a room with all the latest cardio machines, a separate free-weight room, basketball courts & running track. I always feel quite refreshed when done and on to business at hand.
Why would anyone go anywhere else?
This club is nice. They have a swimming pool, various ball courts, and of course a gym. Their staff were nice and the building is nice if a bit dimly lit.
The NY DAC was a favorite of mine before 9/11 when it also fell. Hotel stays, food, and events there are memories forever. The Eugene DAC is outwardly against the homeless here in town. They joined in to veto an already approved 38 bed and day shelter for a temporary fix this winter. Now Eugene has 10 inches of snow, sub freezing temps all week and humans on the streets at risk everyday some because of the actions of the DACs veto. So only one star here at best...
Nice and clean place to workout, very upscale. Warning, the cycle staff are great but the bikes are old and can leave you with a sore butt.
My wife and I went to a function in the ballroom. It was a delightful time. They had nice staff, great food, and a nice bar.
NYAC provides a friendly atmosphere for members of associated clubs. Food is great, rooms are clean and prices are below NYC rates at major hotels at similar level...building is dated but filled with many memorabilia of amateur sports I America
Very nice facility. Lots of amenities and good place to meet and network at events
Well established athletic club great atmosphere big place good spot to have a banquet or get together
Nice food nice private and public club
This is a nice place. I dont know much about it, but the decor was nice, the food from the eateries smelled good and the staff was friendly.
The DAC is great!
Worst gym experience ever. I’ve been a middle school, high school and college athlete and have seen some horrible gyms. This one was the worst. It’s not horrible for the gym itself, but for the rude and uncaring staff, NO MUSIC, catered to senior citizens, treadmill area was disgusting(not one level treadmill and busted up old machines), locker room was clean but was filled with men just sitting around watching a tv in the nude.Such a depressing place. It was dark and dank. I don’t care how big the place is, it made me and my wife feel like we had just worked out at a nursing home. Such a shame and glad we didn’t buy into a full membership.
Ive been a member for years and I really appreciate the location, staff, and amenities; worth every penny.
Best enployees ...the physical therapists are amazing ty down town athletic club
Historic building, good amenities.
Ive been going there for years nice place for food and drinks with friends.
Clean, pool, machines, nice locker rooms.
Seems really expensive for what you get when Ive used the club...Felt like basically a club for rich people to overpay for working out so they can be around each other...
Great food and great place for meetings like tracktown tuesday
Great atmosphere and nice amenities! Lively place to host an event
The club is wonderful as far as facilities and the staff working there are concerned. But their billing person Susan is absolutely terrible. I had been told that by moving to Seattle I wouldnt have to remain a member for the entire year. I was told that I just needed to send in my new address when I got up there (proof Id moved) which I did. I then got sent to collections, and went through the same process with the collection agency. I had never been in collections in my life. I contacted the agency and he assured me that he would resolve the issue with the client. That was the last I heard of it before moving back to Eugene and wanting to go back to the club.I contacted them and was told initially that because of what happened last time - the initiation fee would need to be paid in full up front (they offer monthly payments on it as well, but wanted it paid in full). I said that would be fine and arranged a time to come in and sign up. I then was told that Susan - the A/R manager decided that the entire balance of my contract from last time was due in full, and that couldnt be a member before paying that - and a new initiation fee. I spoke with Susan on the phone and she was rude and insisted I now pay for something Id been told all along was resolved. She said it had not been and that they would pursue it in collections.I sent a letter to the management at the DAC expressing my displeasure and informing them I would not be rejoining. I wanted confirmation that the old amount was dropped. I then was served paperwork for a lawsuit from the collection agency. I immediately contacted the general manager Kevin to work this out - and he and I had a good relationship. He was professional - but apparently while we were working on a settlement Susan had the agency obtain the judgement and send a wage garnishment. Ive now contacted the courts and my own attorney to reverse this. I will be pursuing them and the agency for acting in bad faith.Although I can recommend the club and Kevin the General Manager - if you have reason to deal with accounting - I would definitely get an attorney and document everything.
Nice quality place where you can go to exercise, have lunch, or have meetings.
Beautiful building with state of the art equipment and attentive, friendly staff.
Beautiful place. Nice staff.
Nice place for meetings alittle spending
When I needed to heal and needed good therapy the downtown Ath . Club was the best
Often the older folks hang out in the comfy chairs as much as they work out. If you dont go with a friend, it can feel unwelcoming.
Best club in Eugene. Expensive though.
Sadie is the best yoga instructor!
Really like this gym
Best amenities, beautiful environment and fabulous instructors
The best group fitness classes
Such a great atmosphere! Everyone is great!
Well worth the price.
