We have used Jones and Roth for more than ten years for our small business in Eugene. We initially used this accounting firm because I had a friendship with a senior partner. But when she retired our small business account was shuffled around to more and more junior accountants for taxes. Finally last year was the final year for our business thanks to COVID.In 2019 they charged us more than $3k to prepare our tax info. Which they demanded in advance! And now for 2020 they have the gaul to try to wring more money out of our small business just so we can take another tax hit.I have no confidence in them any more. We never received our tax reports sooner than the first of April of the following year. Which put us in a bind to have our personal taxes completed by April 15.They make attorneys look like saints.
I own a local dental practice and have been proud to work with Jones and Roth for about 6 years. They have been excellent at taking the initiative to organize agendas for our quarterly meetings. They are very easy to communicate with. I get answers to my questions within 1-2 days, every time. Jeremy Prickel has been fantastic as my accountant. He is very thorough, makes sure he understands my vision, and provides many great recommendations to help me achieve my goals. Together we have changed several key business systems that have proven to be very valuable in organizing and simplifying my business as well as providing increased financial success.I have recommended Jeremy and Jones and Roth to several colleagues without hesitation.
Not impressed. Their financial adviser didnt care about our goals and only wanted us to buy his financial products. They made a mess of our taxes, filing at the last second even though they had ample time (by their own definition), then wanted us to pay for extension we shouldnt have needed or wanted. They gave us a financial report full or spelling and other errors which was the last straw. FIRED.
Yes, they can get the basic work done for you. Most, if not all, CPAs can also. The problem with Jones & Roth is they are totally unorganized internally. If you ask an important question during your meetings with them (like I did), dont expect to ever hear back from them. If they make internal changes of the staff handling your work, you wont hear a thing about it. Etc. etc. the list of bad communication experiences I had with them goes on and on. Finally decided to take my business elsewhere, and so far, the new CPA firm is far outperforming Jones & Roth.Edit: Saw the response from owner claiming that have no record of doing business with me. Thats because I have more than one email address, dumdums. In my opinion, this sort of this must be a fraudulent review response says it all about Jones & Roth. Trust me. I did business with them for a couple years, and they were not good at all. Downgraded from my original 2 star review to 1 star.
