Discovery point retreat is an amazing place to go if you are ready to begin your recovery journey. From day one I felt like it was my home away from home. Take advantage of all the activities and fully embrace what they have to offer. Take it one day at a time and enjoy discovering yourself. Trust the program and take the time you need.

The clients, Recovery Coaches, Therapists & Nursing staff at DPR played a big role in getting my recovery on track again. I have spent almost half of my life in and out of 12 step programs but spent the majority of 2019-2020 spinning out of control. I did two 45-day inpatient rehabs plus one 10 day detox during that time but I just couldnt get clean. By April 2021 I knew I was at the end of my rope and actively sought help. I think I found DPR on a Google search.I came into DPR basically unable to walk, aggressively using drugs and physically depressed to the point of considering suicide. Ive now been out for about a week and Im proud to say Ive done meetings every day, I call another alcoholic daily and I work out for 2 hours + without exceptions. This is nothing short of a miracle. My negatives against DPR are kind of big but bear in mind that I walked away with my mind, body and spirit repaired due to my stay. 1) They werent particularly responsive as far as my medications and fluid/food intake were concerned during my detox. Nobody was checking if i was eating or drinking enough (I wasnt) and I had hypertension that was left basically unaddressed even on the day I checked out. 2) They need to be cleaner. I will not go into detail but suffice it to say that if a health inspector had checked the rooms, bathrooms or kitchen while I was there it most likely wouldve been a problem for them. 3) The food was awful. I paid out of pocket (I know...OUCH!) so for them to present meals which were carry out jimmy johns, donuts, fried rice or GoldNChick at various points during the week on top of meal choices that were high in unhealthy fats, carbs and low in protein was insulting.BUT I digress...if you are seeking recovery, you will find it at DPR. The Recovery coaches are some of the coolest, sweetest people Ive met. The nurses truly care about the clients and will do everything in their power to help. The therapists and case managers are world-class and bring an incredible wealth of knowledge and insight to the table. I hope to stay in touch with all of the staff, and Ive made lifelong friendships with my fellow patients.Ill say this: ifyou are looking for a cushy, day spa type deal or one of those 100% pain-free detoxes, DPR may not be for you. If youre serious about getting clean no matter what it takes and are willing to go to any length to get it, then DPR is the right choice. Knowing what I know now, Id choose the latter every time. Thanks DPR!!!

Edit: I am changing my review to one star, as they made a $29,000 mistake. They told me that they accept my insurance. After my stay, the insurance company informed me they did not. I am not paying them a dime more than what my part shouldve been. If they rectify this, I will change it back to give stars.

The comment below is a staff member, in fact he is in charge of the admissions team. Most of these posts are by staff members who are using this as a platform to get referrals, hoping you see it and are duped yourself into sending a loved one here or going yourself.People die here, someone just recently died because of neglect, they hadn’t checked on the man for 13 hours and he was only 29 years old, it could’ve been avoided if it wasn’t for negligence.Any positive reviews you see are because the staff basically forces the clients to leave reviews before they leave the treatment center, they stand over their shoulder and watch as they type the review, it’s sickening. There are plenty of other treatment centers in Texas to trust your loved one with, please don’t let it be this one, and please pray for the family for the man who died, and the countless others that have been neglected and not given the proper treatment they need. This is just a puppy mill for addicts designed to make as much money as possible.I pray this place gets shut down soon.- Former Staff Member.
