While helpful, Left a bad feeling with me after I had them check the car. Something in the eye of the office gent told me that further research was indicated. Got a second and third opinion. There were no codes in the transmission. It was working fine. Cottman recommended a full rebuild. The car only required a tune up. Cottman will not receive a referral from me but the other two garages will.Responding to your comment... Trust begins at the door. Your guy came across sincere and genuine going in. After I returned to pick up my vehicle after the test, something in his body language seemed off and raised a red flag. I did due diligence and had another set of qualified eyes look at the car. Your guys recommendations were not valid. A reading of the transmission codes would have told him that. He did not inform me of those results since, those results would have stopped a sale. I drove some 20 miles to you because of YOUR NAME and the reputation. My expectations we for you to meet that. They were not. Further discussion with your company would not be productive since, I can bring this down to one statement. Be honest with your client throughout the entire process and you gain referrals and future business. This has been a learning process for both of us. PEACE

This place told me my transmission was “leaking internally” and needed to be pulled to “know what would need to be done” which was quoted at $600, then he assumed I would need a rebuild for another $1200. Come to find out I had slight carbon buildup in my catalytic Converter which was causing what felt like a gear shift issue. Which was easily cleaned out by me after I told them not to touch my transmission. These people blatantly lie to customers to squeeze money out of them. Disgusting. Do not go here. Oh and btw I haven’t had a single issue since driving my own vehicle off their lot.

Sean did me up right, rebuilt my trans, had to bring it back a couple times to sort thing out but dont let the lax atmosphere fool you, those guys know what theyre doing. Thanks Sean.

I cant start to tell yall how much these guys helped me. So I will start by telling you this if you have anything going wrong with your car dont and I repeat Dont take it to a back yard mechanic take it directly to Cottmans Transmissions of Emmaus. I thought I could save some money by doing just that but boy was I wrong. I almost lost my job i just had a baby an Im living in a hotel with my family. Three weeks later a engine and transmission later my truck still wasnt done. So in desperation I called Cottmans transmissions an spoke with Shawn, I told him my story and what I was going through he had my truck towed to his shop in Emmaus at no charge an checked my 2006 Ford explorer for free. An to my surprise the other mechanic did more wrong than right to my truck Shawn an his team told me what was done an what wasnt done it was way worse than I expected. He then told me the price to fix my truck an I was unable to pay that. No problem he said I will help you an he did just that. I have bad credit an yet he helped me get a loan to fix my truck when everyone else denied me he got me the loan. I dont know how or why I just know these guys or should I say angels in mechanic suites are the way to go. My truck is fixed like brand new and I kept my job. I recommend these Angels to any an anyone. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. So in closing I will tell yall this if you want your car or truck done right take it to Cottmans Transmissions in Emmaus you wont regret it.

This place is a godsent! I have Dodge Journey and a very large family and it is my only vehicle right now. Recently my car did not just break on me =, but it shattered. I needed a new transmission, drive shaft and transfer case all at once. I know! That job sounds expensive right!? The guys here at Cottman gave me an amazing price for all of my repairs and they worked tirelessly to help me be able to take my car home to my kids in only a few days! It was no easy task by any means at all! It was a lot of sleepless nights and phone calls back and forth trying anything possible! But they did it! They did a fantastic job! My car feels as good as new and I cannot thank them all enough for everything they have done for me and my family! I would highly recommend them to anyone that is in need of repairs!

A transmission repair led to a suggestion to also replace plugs & coils, which we agreed to. 3k miles later, rough driving led to a return where bad plugs & coils were faulted as the cause. Poor quality parts were blamed for the failure, though I dont have faith that they were replaced the first time. The garage wouldnt refund the charge, but offered to extend the warranty on the transmission (which appears to be holding up so far, but given the experience, we wont be back).Follow-up: Guys, you have my email already. Reply to the message that you ignored the first time.

My car was having issues, I took it back to the dealership I bought it from where the mechanic charged me a arm and leg to look at it and then told me I needed thousands of dollars worth of work. I wanted to verify all of these problems I took it to cottman he looked over it for free, and it was just a leak in the housing. He offered to fix it for a very very fair price but I opted out because I do have a family member who is a mechanic and would do it for just the cost of parts. I bought the parts they told me I needed for about 120$ just some hoses and all new housing. I have had ZERO problems with this car since. It runs like new, there was no extra surprises. Thankyou so much for looking over my car for me and not taking advantage of a young girl who has no knowledge of cars. You guys saved me so much money. Although I didnt have you guys do the labor, I am still incredibly pleased with the services you provided me and I will be back for any problems I have in the future.

Thanks to Shawn and his crew, my 97 chevy Blazer lost all gears except for 1st and reverse. Originally priced at $3000, I wasnt able to pay the $3000. I called in on a Thursday to get an estimate on getting a clutch replaced in my hummer along with anything else in there that should get replaced, the gentleman on the phone was very helpful and even told me if I bring it in that day they could have it done the next day I was super stoked since most places are backed up so I dropped it off later that day I received a call from the shop telling me that my transfer case motor had a code stored and it looked pretty worn, they told me they could get me one for 300$ and wouldn’t charge me to install since they were there already. I picked up my truck the next evening and it drove perfect no concerns, the next day I crawled under just to take a look at what they worked on and to my surprise I see a rusty transfer case motor. I called back on Monday and spoke to same guy and brought up my concern and he tells me they put a used part on because they don’t trust dorman parts and I tried explaining that I do not want a used part especially at 300$ I knew they were over charging but I figured it was convenient but 300$ for a junkyard part no way I could order a new oem part for 200$, he did not try to correct the issue, also my cruise control is no longer working and they told me to bring it in to take a look but now I’m skeptical about taking my vehicle to a business with shady practices of putting used parts on with out notifying the customer first BEWARE

Very pleased with the work this place has done. had my 72 ranchero trans rebuilt and works great. Kept me up to date on it and done when they said it would be finished. Would definitely recommend this place and will have work done there again.

We have a 2014 Jeep Patriot with 105,000 miles on it. It was not running smoothly and we had been told by another mechanic that we needed a brand new transmission. We read reviews for Cottman Transmission and were impressed by the positive feedback other customers had given them. We decided to head there for a 2nd opinion. Shawn could not have been nicer. After the mechanic ran a diagnostic on our car, he said the transmission was fine and that we needed new spark plugs & coils. We spent hundreds on the work done, rather than the thousands a brand new transmission wouldve cost us. Shawn had said it would be a few hours, but when he realized I had to stay there while the work was done, he ordered pizza for the mechanics and they basically worked through their lunch time so I didnt have to stay there too long. He even offered me pizza. :) I would absolutely recommend Cottman Transmission and we are already planning to have them take a look at our other car in the near future. I was experiencing transmission problems. i called a couple of different garages. one said they can repair transmissions, but the charged a 150 dollar diagnostic fee. i took my Jeep there and ended up getting a list of other things wrong including bad universal joints. they ended up saying they dont repair transmissions, they only replace them and gave me 4500 dollar estimate. When I called Cottmans in Emmaus, he told me to bring it over and he would diagnose it for free. He ended up repairing, not replacing my transmission. He also said there was nothing wrong with my universal joints. he only charged 3,000. Jeep runs great 2 months later. problem solved and saved 1500 bucks. highly recommend them.

My one year 12,000 mile warranty on my rebuilt transmission is about to expire. After 9,000 miles I am more than happy with the trans rebuild, my dodge charger has 238,000 miles and runs like new. Sean was a pleasure to work with and I would def recommend Cottman. My only complaint is the aftermath of a mechanic entering and exiting the vehicle over the 4 week period. The car was returned to me with a very dirty door panel, floor trim and greasy gritty steering wheel.

Took my Jeep to my local mechanic. While he could identify the common Jeep problem, he recommended I take it to Cottman. Cottman provided great service and fixed other issues at an excellent discount. They stayed in touch with me about the Jeep and answered my questions without any attitude. My Jeep was with them for a while due to the parts being on back order. They acknowledged the inconvenience and were excited to get my Jeep back to me asap. Its clear that they care about the work they are doing. I am grateful for their professionalism, communication, and service.

Happy with the work. Two constructive comments. They charged my credit card without my consent the full price of the repair 4 days prior to completion. Also there was a several day delay due to parts availability. A call with this information would have been appreciated. I would recommend this company with these two caviots.

The courtesy and professionalism is what moved me to write this review. What great service. Had a 2002 Nissan pathfinder making a noise and was diagnosed quickly and accurately. The woman at the front desk was thorough and friendly and Shawn was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Will be back again!

I am not sure to place further confidence in dealing with Cottman in Emmaus. I was referred to them by Monro Muffler and while Monro is not responsible for the behavior of Cottman, I truly wonder if this will jeopardize the integrity of Monros discretion.After two and a half weeks (and $3000+ later) of having my front differentials repaired and transmission and to look at whatever was causing a burning smell near the front right tire, I was told to bring the car back for a follow up, upon which they would also do an undercoating for $75 and I supplied the paint. Also, while driving back for the follow up, the car continued to smell like something was burning. I was assured that it would be checked and taken care of. The mechanic suspected it had something to do with the brake and they could fix it there. I picked the jeep up one week later after speaking to Shawn earlier in the week, reminding him of the burning smell and also the right turn signal was not working. When I picked the car up, I received my bill for $200 which read, check[ed] for burning smell and undercoating. Shawn was not quite forthcoming failing to tell me the $75 was the hourly rate! My misunderstanding, as Shawn put it all back on me. No apology, no follow up on a clear explanation of the work or how to turn this unpleasant experience into a favorable outcome. I assumed all was working fine and the total was for the repair and undercoating, because at the cashier desk, they explained they repaired a clogged hose. I drove the car back to Bethlehem, and when I hit a speed of over 40 mph, the car shuttered and I smelled the burning smell. I immediately drove the car into Monros parking lot where the manager saw me and came running over because the right front of my car was smoking. We questioned what was actually done at Cottman. The mechanics at Monro were disappointed to hear what happened and contacted Shawn at Cottman who told the mechanic they did not perform any repair on the brake, even though they said they would, because they didnt want to take business away from Monro. Nothing of this sort was disclosed to me! (Funny, though, Cottman had no problem with taking away business from Monro by doing the undercoat!!)As a business owner with a large customer base (with who I may wish to share my Cottman experience), I respect my clients, doing what I say I will do and do not mislead them. I am just tired of shady, slick and sneaky business people who lack ethics and take advantage of the lay people.

Dishonest and will ripe you off. A friend paid for my repairs and they kept the money and never credited to me.

I want to thank Shawn, Kevin and the entire staff for not only helping me with the issues with my car but also going well beyond what I have experienced in the past from other service centers. My transfer case went out during a road trip from MN to PA. The folks here took such great care of me. They found the part for a decent price, and were able to get me up and running so quick that I barely missed a beat on my vacation.

They do fast good work. However you need to be clear when they give you a quote if that is parts plus labor.

These are good guys. They redid the transmission on my van. There was a manufacturing flaw on the new radiator after that, but they made good on it. They are friendly and the work was done in a timely manner. Recommend these guys.

This past November my brake caliper got stuck in position and prematurely wore out the brake pad thus cutting into the rotor. I looked everywhere for a mechanic that would be able to get my car back into shape in an expedited manner as I had family to visit for thanksgiving. All the mechanics around were either too expensive for a simple brake job or would have to put me on back order for weeks. I contacted city man and within two days they replaced my rotors and my brake pads and to top it off they quoted me at a reasonable price! Funny thing is I never knew this place dealt with anything besides transmission repair. For a fast, reasonably priced and honest service this is the place to go, thank you to the hard workers at cottman!

Transmission cable broke on Wednesday. Towed car there, today was called and told to come pick up my car. Not even 48 hours. Thank you Shawn for getting it done so fast.

Please stay away from this place they will make you feel welcome at first and then take you for a ride if you know what I mean. Story short I won a court judgement against Bob the owner of Cottman transmission for work that he said was done to my car but according to the Nissan dealer and their report was not true 2 years later I dont have my car because I have to get rid off it and I still have not get my money I won in court but I will not give up. I hope anyone looking to bring their car to this shop read my review and take their car to somebody else please save yourself the trouble of court papers and getting ripped off.

My Ford Ranger trucks clutch went out after a long life. After deciding we couldnt fix it ourselves, we found Cottman Transmission! They towed the truck to their shop for free and looked at it, telling us there was no obligation to have them fix it. After finding out the damage (wanted to replace the clutch and everything to do with it), I was terrified it was going to take until the next week to get back on the road (went in the shop late Tuesday evening). But he called me at 10AM Friday morning to tell me the truck was complete. Not only was this experience quick, Bob was extremely friendly and willing to please his customers. My GMC Sierra trans went after 240k miles. Brought it to Cottman. The service was very friendly and fast. They understood I needed the truck for work and worked extra hard to get me back on the road fast. 20k miles later truck is still running strong. Can not comment on the price because I did not price around. However they made a bad situation (a bad transmission) bearable with their hospitality and good service. Horrible experience, nice guys... at first took 3 and a half weeks for my car to even leave this place. I paid $2000 up front before any work was even done. They say they’ll call and they never call. I had to call them just for them to tell me everything was done but they couldn’t start my car, but before my car went to them it started perfectly fine everytime. Horrible service I can’t say much about the mechanics work because I still haven’t gotten the car back. They also told me they were working on my car all day and when I arrived at Coffman transmission that day my car was just sitting in the lot, no work being done to it. My key is now broken due to them and I have to pay out of pocket to get a new one. Everytime a called it was a different excuse, Shawn was the gentleman I dealt with and I was given an attitude everytime a called, all in all a bad experience. DONT GO HERE YOUR BETTER OFF GOING ELSEWHERE

I had a great service experience at cottman. Not only were they friendly and gave me a very affordable price i am also very satisfied with the work that was done on the car.

Most reviews are recent experience, but 2 years now with rebuilt transmission and no issues since. Felt the customer service we got then was above par. Price, cheaper than Ford and about the same everywhere else. Plus, they took are of a few other issues I was not aware of with minimal or no cost. I would go back. Transmissions are complex today and yes are expensive. Scheduling my 2 year annual check shortly...

They are some damm thieves!!!!!!!!! charge over 80 a hr for labor then when they did transmission work for me they damaged a peace an adaptor to my battery and my car will not start I called me alot of times no one answers left a few message no call back DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE

I own my own shop and a salesman Juan came by asking me to give them a try, so I did with one of my customers car they stood with the car for almost a week and didnt do anything to it, worst experience ever will not come back...

The worst experience I ever had at a repair station. First time they gave me my car back worse than when I first brought it in. Had my car for over 7 weeks. Worst mechanics shop I or anyone I know have dealt with. They overcharged for my transmission rebuild. It started slipping a week later and now my truck makes some strange grinding type noise when I stop. When I took it back to have them do warranty work to fix the slipping, they made excuses for why my transmission was slipping and basically said its not their problem. My solenoids for my trans then went bad and I took it back only because of the warranty and they have had it for a week. Whenever I call for an update they give me attitude and tell me they are working on it. Im told that this should be a 2 hour job tops.I would not ever recomend this garage to anyone. Take it to a place that cares.

Horrible took my nissan here. Paid money for a new transmission. My car stayed not working. 6 months of going back and forth to them. They sent me to nissan and nissan said i need a new transmission after cottonman already put one in. I lost out on 3500. Cause i then had to pay nissan another 2700 to put a new one in. Unprofessional experience all around! Called on two separate occasions for two different vehicles, both times phones were answered I was given a poor attitude. I was interrupted three times by the gentleman, had a friend call and he got the same attitude. Don’t recommend this place for someone who really needs work done on their car sure hope they fix this issue.

When I initially called regarding my transmission, I was told there was NO CHARGE/ NO OBLIGATION to have any work done. I just wanted to get a diagnosis on my transmission. When I got there, it was a whole different story. I was charged $475 This was Tuesday. I was forced to find a way to and from work for 5 days. They also did not tell me it was going to take this long for my car! THE STORY GETS WORSE. I was told my car would be done by Friday and I could pick it up at 9pm. They said theyd leave the key for me to pick up. When I got there at 9pm in the dark and freezing rain, not only was my key no where to be found, my transmission and other car parts were in the trunk of my car!!! They lied, my car was never done and I was pretty much stranded. I I had to work the next morning as well as pick up my daughter and had no other way to do so without my car. The next morning, my mom had to come allllll the way from the Pocono Mountains to help me keep my composure. As you can imagine, I was furious. We wasted sooo much gas trying to make both of our schedules work until my car was done. And I never made it to work that day because of this. Rocky the manager is an absolute, slick, con artist and should be exposed. Absolute horrible business practices and I want a refund

After I dropped it off I went home and read the reviews on this place on the computer. I freaked out immediatly, I called them to get my truck out of there. With no conflict after they already looked at it they said with no pressure at all if you want to come and get your truck its here. I decided to do more research and to my surprise NO TRANSMISSION places have good reviews. See so I guess this is not a happy :) topic! So decided to let them do the work and I am so glad I did.They took the time to explain and even show me in there shop my transmission that was in 600 hundred pieces to see how much work was involved.
