The gym itself isn’t all that great. It’s small, not much equipment and it gets too crowded and it also isn’t very clean. The equipment is alright and gets the job done which is all that really matters however it could be a nicer gym. Definitely isn’t worth the money I pay. I would’ve given the gym a 2 if it wasn’t for the super awesome staff. They are ALWAYS so kind and friendly and make the experience good. There were some issues with my account and Alex the GM waived a late fee due to a misunderstanding. I was so grateful. If it wasn’t for that I would’ve cancelled my membership, I wouldn’t have minded paying $100 to cancel the membership because I hate it there that much. The staff is great though!

Visited the gym and reviewed their membership costs. The latter is why I chose NOT to join...The gym itself is relatively small, but has a decent amount of free weights, cardio machines, a studio for organized classes, and the locker rooms have both steam and dry saunas which is nice.So when I asked if they have month to month memberships that can be canceled at any time and i asked for membership prices. Yes was the answer to the question of month to month memberships and they initially said $29 a month... which I thought was reasonable.THEN they went on to tell me that the $29 a month fee was only if you commit to a 1 Year Contract and even with that, there was an addition of a $40 maintenance fee [AKA free money for nothing fee] that they charge annually.BUT If you want to go with a month to month membership, (which 99% of all gyms offer now), then the price es goes up to $39 per month PLUS a $40 annual maintenance fee PLUS a $100 initiation fee (more money for nothing...).There are plenty of gyms in the local area that dont bait and switch members with low monthly dues that come with hidden fees and lock you in, hard to get out of contracts. --- Sorry Golds... Hard Pass

Was in town for only a month and this Golds gym accommodated my short term needs as well as being staffed by friendly and helpful people. Gym is clean, machines are in good condition, and there are many friendly regulars. Very welcoming place to start a new years exercise routine!

I’m a member of Golds Gym, Glen Burnie but just moved to Columbia and thought I’d join this Golds Gym. I figured it would be the same monthly membership fee of $12 a month... I went to join this gym and found that this Golds Gym is $40 a month!!! What the heck?!? I’m not joining! I’ll keep going to my old gym in Glen Burnie until the Planet Fitness right down the road opens up in March then I’ll switch my gym membership to there.Basically, I’m disappointed in the cost of this location. I won’t be joining this gym. I’m waiting to join the new Planet Fitness so I can save $360 a year.

I have been going to this gym for about a year now. Some of the management changed within the year. The gym is well equipped with plenty of work out equipment for beginners and those who are experienced. They have a monthly schedule for other group classes like Yoga. Bathrooms and locker rooms are always clean.

Since I joined this gym I have pretty much regret it. Functional fitness room is super dirty, many machines are old and need replacing and I have been told for months that new free weights were purchased and will be put out shortly- that was back in early August (about 4 months ago). Machines are regularly out of service and the manager Tony sent me a snarky email when I mentioned some of these concerns in a satisfaction survey that was emailed to me....Overall this gym gets the job done but it’s super crowded at all times because the space is so small. Also do yourself a favor and avoid Marco, the personal trainer, at all costs.... he uses old school shaming strategies to motivate people into working out and doesn’t seem to recognize that everyone’s fitness goals and reasons for exercising and going to the gym are DIFFERENT!

Do not get a membership here. All they want is your money. I would give them 0 stars if I could.This gym will do whatever they can to keep you on your contract. They will lie to you and keep billing you. Other gyms like planet fitness will cancel as soon as your initial contract ends.This gym will not file your cancellation for 30 days. You basically have to give a 2 months heads up when you want to cancel.DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP HERE! You are much better off at planet fitness. They cost less and have the same if not more equipment. Planet fitness will also not hold you hostage.

The new management here is absolutely outstanding! Shawn, Nick, and Emily truly outcare the competition. This isnt like other gyms. I actually feel like the staff cares about me, as a human being, and they go out of their way to help ensure that I am staying on track to accomplish my fitness goals. No matter what the previous ratings show, know that this club is now run by the perfect team. You will be taken care of here. I love this place!

I have signed up via a facebook ad. I thought my membership starts and I will be charging only when I visit the center, give my details, and sign some papers. Due to some unavoidable reasons, I couldn’t visit the center for 4months and they kept charging me (which I came to know when I checked my statements 2days ago). I have not even used a single day of my membership. They never called me or notified me saying Sir, you have signed up but never started your membership.I went to their location first time yesterday, receptionist was cool and understood my issue. She helped me by sending an email to her manager and asked me to come back tomorrow to meet manager.Today, I went back there and manager has no options with him to help me. They have charged me 4months for no reason. I said I would like to continue the membership if I get some help in this issue. I recommend them to have some options that can help customers. The worst part is that the lady in the reception was unable to get me a membership tag, she says she need her manager to do that. Even for the body scan I enrolled for, she says same, manager books appointment.

They are top notch. From the general manager down to every staff member. Tony really sets the tone here. If your having a bad day...he will sense it; the fact that he builds relationships with his customers seems so important. Usually I dont want to be bothered during my workout. But, his lapses of conversation give me a chance to complain about his gym....and I like that. Hes very swift in fixing problems. Hes like a family member. My kids love this guy

Very nice, but small gym. Never over crowded. Good variety of equipment. Cleaner than most other gyms Ive been to.

I joined a couple months ago and have been so impressed! The staff are friendly and remember you. The kids center is small and great for kids who would be overwhelmed in a large gyms constant noise and motion. The machines are almost always accessible and Ive only had to wait a minute a couple times. It might get a little hairy in January, but overall Im really loving this gym much more than the other local options.

Great location, great staff. Great classes! But, they need to fix their equipment. For example, the same treadmills have been down for WEEKS!

So the gym is soacious and noce and clean with enough weights and equipment that youll never need for anything. What makes this gym better than most is the staff who are super helpful andn nice. Greet you at the door say goodbye when you leave and help you when you ask for it. Shout out to Alexander .

The staff is what makes this place so amazing. They always greet you with a smile, offers to help you when you need it and also has good chemistry with each other. Golds is a well oiled machine and I love going there. Just wish that a few more pieces of equipment but theyre doing well with the space allotted to them. If youre new to the area and looking for a lifting gym, Id say Golds at the overlook is your place.

I got three day pass online and came to this Gym in the front desk there was a young lady named Shay she helped me out with a free pass to get in and she was very nice and helpful. You could tell the rest of the staff were nice as well.I loved this gym coz it has steam sauna which I am craving about.Overall great experience definitely recommend!

Great gym with phenomenal staff, always smiling and willing to help and answer any questions. The gym is always clean, locker rooms are always stocked with supplies, and equipment is fixed immediately if malfunctioning or broken. Even at peak hours there’s enough equipment that you can continue your workout or cardio session. I haven’t tried any of the classes but they’re always going on after work. I highly recommend this gym.

Gym charged annual dues, then shut down and SOLD with no notification to clients. Is now denying refund of the annual dues. So unprofessional, I will never join another Golds gym again.

Gym is very clean with various equipment available. Tony, the manager, is very helpful and is able to interact very well with clients. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommend.

This is a nice gym but very small. For the price you would expect a much larger facility with much more equipment. I am in right when they open and dont usually have to wait for a machine or station but I couldnt imagine this place at its peak time.

Sadly, this is another gym that promises the world before you sign up, but makes it costly and difficult to end your membership.I specifically asked for a month to month contract, and deferred all their specials. The manager assured me that was the situation. When I went to quit my membership, i was blind sided by a minimum month # commitment which was described in a document secondary bud referenced from my original agreement.The gym itself is ok.

Great equipment and friendly staff. They keep the equipment clean. There is no heavy grunting or showmanship from the customers here. Ive never experienced any over crowding or long wait times to use equipment.

Too hot and wifi never works. Zumba would be fun if it werent blasted at an eardrum bursting volume.Upon mentioning these issues, staff /management dont seem to listen to what customers want.

They make good use of the limited faculty size and the staff is very helpful and engaging. But inexplicably, they cant arrange the housekeepers schedule so she is not in the mens locker room while they are changing, showering, etc. at closing time. Thirty minutes later would solve it.

I have seen other gyms doing group sessions in the main hall, but this one in Columbia MD has the most obnoxious loud metal music blasting through the whole floor during the boot camp. I am all for some background music but this was beyond annoying! I complained to the management and they pretty much told me that this is how we do it here! take it or leave it! so I left!oh and their termination policy is written in a tricky way. even though it says you can cancel within 30 days notice, its 30 days of the next payment to the NEXT month. so after you submit your request, they charge you again in a month and force you to stay for another month. so its 2 months cancellation policy not 1 month!

This is not a good gym. It feels like youre working out in a department store. I also found the manager of this Golds to be rude and aggressive. I was not comfortable being anywhere near him. There are a lot of gyms in Columbia. You can skip this one.

Very small gym not only that but i’m paying plenty monthly and i had work in ellicott city so i googled golds gym near me and got changed because it said there was one close just to walk in and get turned away because my membership wasn’t a “corporate” membership....why tf would i be corporate? i’m the customer, they keep this up and i’m going to find a new gym

So far I do like the gym everyone is nice and helpful what I cant wrap my head around is why they arent open at least till 10 or 11 on weekends. Some people would rather go later.

One of the WORST gyms Ive ever stepped in to. Ill nvr ever go to that branch again. Theyre very very rude and they lied about things right in front of ur face. Especially the guy name Nick Rivers and the GM Tony( there were few more but unfortunately I dont know their names). They dont even LISTEN to the persons problems. They are Very very rude, lazy and irresponsible people. Dont wanna help you. Please dont go to this Gym.

The general manager is very rude and unprofessional. I signed up for no contract but they changed that without my consent, so do NOT trust them if they say its month by month. The steam room has been broken since a year ago and they give 10000 of excuses every day, the a lot of thinks in the bathroom is broken. Some of the trade mills are broken a long time ago. This facility does not worth a single penny per month not $45.

Not as clean as the Riverdale Park. Users tend to leave weights and bars all over the place.

Good gym, has everything a gym needs. However, the only the criteria I rate gyms by is how close they are to my house, so if you are picky this may not have everything you need.

Hello everyone! Please do not go to this gym, they will ruin your credit score. The worst customer service. They sent $25 to collections department! How everything started is from when they had glitch in computer system for payment, that didnot go through. Than when I came there they told me i have a $25 fee. Mitch manager at that time said he will take care of it, but never did. And the $25 fee on my bill was for a few months. I was reminding to them to take care of it for awhile, but they never did, until today. When i received a call from collections department!!! Are you kidding?! Its the worst customer service, very unreliable. I will cancel my membership, and will never come here again

Needs an upgrade. Carpet is worn and dirty, locker room is dark and dull. They could also use a greater variety of cardio equipment. Get rid of 5 or so treadmills, throw in some Spin bikes and stair machines.

There whole billing department could never answer any questions I had or explain why my card never worked correctly through their system and only wanted to add more credit cards to try to fix the problem, along with a complete lack of communication on all levels from the floor in the store to corporate.
