Moving out of my parents and coming to a different state was nerve wracking, but I decided on coming to the Highlands and I love it here :) My apartment has vaulted ceilings and it’s very spacious with about 1000 sq feet. The view is my own private pond, and every morning we have turkeys out there! The office staff have been amazing, shoutout to Chelsea, because she has helped my roommates and I navigate through this whole process. Highly recommended calling the Highlands your home.
This is one of the best apartments to live in Elkhart area. Other than their internet (mandatory to take from them) we didnt find any other problems. The area is safe, clean, and close from all stores of Elkhart. They provide gas heating and cooking, which greatly reduce the electricity cost, especially in Elkhart region.
Apartments are nice enough but they will do absolutely nothing about your alcoholic, weed smoking, loud neighbors. These people have been complained about by every resident in this building and nothing has been done. Probably best to just not live here.
I lived in apartments here for a few years. Balcony facing the lake was a very nice touch. I rarely had to make maintenance requests. A/C worked well and plumbing was good. Sound proofing could be a little better. Office and staff are helpful. Not a bad place to stay.
My husband and I moved into this apartment in July 2018. They are nice apartments with a fairly large kitchen and walk-in closets. There are extra storage drawers built into the closets, which are nice for socks and other small items. We would’ve stayed another year if we didn’t have to relocate for a job opportunity. The only reason we didn’t give 5 stars would be the neighbors and overall apartment clientele. If you are sensitive to noise, I would highly recommend getting on the top level. You can easily hear your upstairs neighbors moving around regularly. However, this didn’t bother my husband and I much. The other reason would be the renters surrounding us failing to follow the no smoking guidelines. We weren’t able to use our outside porch area since our neighbors below and next to us smoked on their porches regularly (even though they are not suppose to).
So far, loving it. My mother just moved here and its better than my complex. Everything seems newer than a lot of complexes in that price range. Washer and Dryer in the apt. Very spacious! Storage shed included. So far, quiet neighbors.
The price is very reasonable for the area, and the accomodations are nice; however, in my two years of living I have noticed the water has a foul odor and has even damaged my scalp to the point of losing hair. I have tried several shower filters to no avail. Other than that I would recommend this apartment.
Great place to live if you like it quiet. My mom lives by a pond and wildlife like geese and ducks are always around. The staff live right a move her and they are very friendly in the office and outside the office. Its close to shopping and on the bus line.
We have lived here for almost a year and we really love it. We moved into these apartments on blind faith as we came from Tennessee and never had a chance to come in and see the apartments before moving in. The staff is fantastic, maintenance is on top of everything and the grounds are beautiful. I feel safe and it is conveniently located next to everything youll need. We are looking for another place after our lease is up, but only because we need a third bedroom. I would highly recommend moving into The Highlands.
Our son and his fiance moved in here a few months ago. Their apartment and the facilities are nice and well kept. They are content staying here.
I’m completely disappointed in the Highlands. I lived here about ten years ago, was forced to move out because my neighbors could hear ever footsteps from my roommate & myself walking into our apartment. Then on top of these, they still made us pay for the full year contract. Would never recommend these cheap & poorly constructed paper thin walls. You can hear the neighbors breathing and waking at all times of the day. Completely disgusted by the lack of professionalism by the office staff. 👎zero rated apartment complex in my book
Pretty grounds. Set back into the woods just a little. Close to everything ...movie theater, restaurants, fast food, Wal-Mart, Lowes and menards, etc. ..fairly cost effective. Newer apartments appear to be clean and ready to move in. Washer and drier included in the apartments.
Management is rude. I have friends who have lived here and it never gets better. Edward Rose corporation is known as a slum lord in pretty much every city they have rental units. I didn’t realize they were the management company at this complex or I would not have inquired. The places they run local to me are rat traps.
Clean. Modern. Quiet. Safe place for our daughter. Pool and garage ports are welcome amenities.
If you absolutely HAVE to live in Indiana, then this is a GREAT place to live! The apartments are well-outfitted (nice, soft carpet, good plumbing, clean walls, great kitchen appliances, etc.). The landscaping outside is well-cared for, and the pool is always clean and usually not very busy. Its walking distance from Wal-Mart and fast food joints. The 1 bedroom/1 bathroom I had was very spacious.I stayed here for 4 months for a summer internship in 2013, and its one of the best places Ive stayed.
Wonderful quiet community! Management needs work, but that’s everywhere you go.
Edit: wrong highlands, sorry. Here just take 5 stars ( I dont see a delete button i am sorry, only an edit, feel free to remove if you can)
These apartments are great I watched my friends dog there and I wish I had an apartment like this.
Crooks. Turned in 30 days notice before my lease ended which they lost, and then sent the figure to collections. No phone calls or anything.Paperthin insulation means you can hear your neighbors conversations/TV/toilet flush. Not to mention the jets that fly 100 feet over your roof at all hours landing at the airport next door.Walmart across the street means all kinds of riff raff seconds from your home.Renter beware, would not recommend.
Rented at the Highlands Apartments from 11/2017-2/28/17. In February, I requested a lease extension, and that my pet, a 10lb Peke-a-chon be added to my lease. Travelers Haven contacted the Highlands Apartments, and was told by one of their office clerks that it would be okay for me to add my pet, and that the fee would be a $150 pet deposit, as well as an additional $20/month. I brought my pet up from Indianapolis that Monday, intending, to add her to the lease on Tuesday during the day ( I am a night shift travel nurse). The next day, the manager Ryan claimed their were complaints from my neighborside, and that unless she was a service dog she couldnt be there. I said that is fine, I would take her home asap. I called the office to confirm the pet policy, and they claimed that only certain apartments were allowed to have pets. I asked the office clerk three times to specify which ones were pet allowed, which she acted very hesitant to tell me. She kept asking me which apartments I lived in rather than to answer my question. She finally told me the bldgs on Troon were the only ones that allowed pets. I told her thank you and hung up. The manager Ryan wasted no time in informing Travelers Haven that they would not renew my lease because I violated the pet policy. I have a copy of the policy that confirms that this was not true. I took my dog home 2 days later, when I was able to get her home, and even though I did, they stuck to their decision. When I moved out today, I spoke with Ryan, informing him that I was the nurse that he threw out after his complex staff informed Travelers Haven that my patients was allowed there. He was very indifferent, with no regard for how the situation may have affected me in any way. I would never stay there or recommend this apartment community to anyone!
Djayed a birthday party here nice place!
The Highlands Apartments are well kept up but have a huge deficit which is Bloom Broadband. Bloom Broadband is a satellite service that the Highlands hired to provide internet and tv service. Bloom is awful. If you get the Bloom tv line up, you get practically nothing for $32/mo. You can sign up for Dish but because Bloom controls it, the cost is much higher - at least 25%. Their claim is that it is a benefit because there is no long term commitment. But that 25% more than wipes out any benefit and then some. They will not allow cable, dsl or any other form of internet or tv service. They have created a monopoly for Bloom and themselves. The internet service is poor. You get either 12Mbps or 24 Mbps and it is expensive compared to other services in the area. To me this all amounts to price gouging. If I could leave I would but it would be nice if they would quit over charging for sub par services. If you want decent TV or internet, dont come here. The regional property Manager also said they may eliminate hard wired phone service. I am looking for a way to file a complaint for the monopoly they have created and the gouging that goes on. You can get another satellite service but they wont let you attach it to the building or set it beyond the patio which makes it impossible to use. It really is highway robbery.
Quiet clean great landscape good management nice apartments
Very quiet and secluded area.
THE HIGHLAND APARTMENTI LIVE HERE FROM JULY, 2017EVERYTHING IS BEST ABOUT TO LIVE HERE BUT EVERY YEAR THEY RISING RENT PRICE GOES UP & UP IS SO HARD TO LIVE
This is a pretty great place to live, theres lots of wildlife, its back away from busy traffic and businesses. But every good place has issues so here are the issues my boyfriend and I have had since living here since April:The ceilings are thin - you can hear every footstep, flush, and shower. The side walls are thick though. Our washer has gone out twice in the last month, the first time wasnt a big deal. But the second time it was smoking. Thankfully maintenance is quick, helpful, and on point. You HAVE to use their broadband internet, which is limited data. We pay $66 a month on top of our cat fee and rent for one bedroom, which comes out to $806. For paying that much for internet, it always goes out the last week of the month. Ive called the company and they say streaming takes up a lot of the data but weve severely limited our streaming from netflix yet we still end up with no internet. I had comcast before we moved here and paid $30 less with unlimited internet. So that makes absolutely no sense.Technically I would say that this place is overpriced but we moved at the last minute and there was availability here. It is a great place, but these are the main issues we have came across since living here.UPDATE:Ive been here for a year and am strongly considering living here again. The staff is nice, the maintenance is thorough and the environment is very pet friendly. There arent very many nice places to live in Elkhart and, while the prices are high, they can afford to charge so much since theyre good at what they do.I would recommend living here.
Nice apartments, outdoor swimming pool for residents.
They keep raising the rent and is getting harder and harder each year for us older peopl
Quiet. Well-maintained
From the looks of it, seemed clean and quiet
The maintenance dont know fix stuff in the apartments
Call, Quiet And Amazing

Poor management
