Care & Comfort is exactly what I experienced in my first visit to this vet. They called before to confirm the appointment, called again to obtain my dog’s records prior to the visit and even called the day after to check how she was doing. The visit far exceeded my expectations with the staff’s professionalism, the amount of time the doctor spent explaining the recommended care and how smoothly the office runs. We will definitely return. Doing business here was a pleasure and gives me peace of mind my pet is in good hands.

We took one of our bloodhounds in for an allergy/hotspot. Dr. Bowman was great, she listened to our questions, has a great plan for resolving the issue. The front office staff and technicians were great as well. Very friendly and knowledgeable!

Excellent vet hospital! They squeezed my dog in and provided an unbelievable level of service. Everyone was kind, professional and took time to thoroughly explain options to treat my dog. They left it to me to make the decisions, and were upfront about costs. I think I may have found my new favorite animal hospital.

My dogs hate going to the vet and are absolute messes when I put them in the car. But when the vet tech at C&C hands them back to me, they are calm and happy. They are so incredibly nice to my dogs and I know my dogs greatly appreciate it! I wont take them anywhere else. They are also incredibly thorough with their exams and I always feel like they cover every base anyone could possibly think of. My little female has a heart murmur and, like all vets should, they did a workup to see if it was safe for her to be given anesthesia. They suggested I call around to see if I could get a more affordable price for an ultrasound but theirs was the least expensive and clearly the least traumatic because my little one came back very calm. Her surgery went well and she is a happy, healthy girl again. Their prices do seem expensive but are actually very competitive. So if you balk at an estimate, youre going to find that other places will likely charge more. And they do stick with not charging over their estimate.C&C is amazing. I wont go anywhere else.

The customer service at this place is outstanding. I never had to worry if my pet was being taken care because I KNEW he was. The doctors call when they say they will and have treated my cat with a love like he was their own. I can’t say how much I appreciate this place after being unsatisfied with a larger corporation vet company for the past two years. It has been a pleasure.

I was given a rough estimate from the low thousand dollar range to the high 2 thousand dollar range for services to have my dog’s teeth cleaned. At first, I thought to myself that the estimate was pretty high for just a cleaning. After some investigating, I found that Care & Comfort actually did care, and was giving us a great deal. The estimate includes the cleaning of course, but also includes the extractions of bad/rotten teeth. The range is based upon how many teeth that the veterinarian decides to remove, obviously on the condition of the teeth and not their wallet size. You must realize all of the other components that go along with this. We are talking surgery, so... the anesthesia, the equipment, tools and yet you must include the human factor, and I must say that the veterinarian’s at Care & Comfort are the best around. I know this because in my situation my dog did not need any extractions. I paid less than a thousand dollars! I guess that my dog has good teeth, I wish I could say that about his breath. Most significantly this shows that the veterinarians are not only doing their jobs, they are not taking advantage of you. My family and I would like to thank everyone at Care & Comfort for their integrity, selflessness, care & comfort.

I took my dog here because it seemed like a good place. I was absolutely right. They are always so attentive to his needs and they remember him from his visits. My dog is a little reactive (hes super protective of me) so they know this when they come get him from me. They are super patient and kind and Dr.Allen is so knowledgeable and super helpful at answering questions and making any recommendations for anything we could possibly need for Tam. The care there is super personal and I will absolutely continue to go there.

I have a 16+ year old black lab. They take extremely good care of her and are very sensitive to her needs. She has a form of arthritis which is similar to osteoarthritis in humans. I will never take any of my dogs anywhere else. Their whole staff has great TLC for their furry friends and their families. Thank you Dr. Allen and your staff for taking such good care of my BFF!❤

I have taken my kids here for a very long time. The care they have gotten is great. I love the Team. When I was having issues with Phoenix The Kid due to his aging issues they always took the time. When I finally had to have my final goodbye with him, Dr. Karlberg and the staff was there. He had 10yrs with them, my girl has been going for 3 years. I have always recommend to others to go here. I love this place so much I got into the field myself and have kept in mind with things at work What would Care and Comfort do? That is how much I admire, love and cherish this place.

This pet hospital is my go to! I do not trust anyone else with my pets they are always helpful and can see pets in a timely manner. Even if its an emergency. Dr. Labrecque is super helpful and knowledgeable! They take multiple plans of insurance and credit sources to make payments as well if youre in a spot financially. My cat had major dental work done here per recommendation. He ended up with 8 extractions. Very communicative and explains everything. Great care is taken for your pet. The aftercare and pain control for my cat was really well done. He had zero pain judging by how active and mobile he was and his desire to eat/drink. I like that they take pain control seriously as cats don’t show pain easily. Not cheap, but anesthesia is always the most expensive part of any procedure. I was given an estimate with a low/high end and the high end was capped out. Everything is listed out and explained. You can tell they really care about the animals and I was given updates as things progressed.

Love the care my dogs receive here. Always find a way to take me in last minute which we really appreciate.My pua and pancho dont mind the vet visits neither. :)

I bring my Dachshund there for her medical problems.I am very disappointed in the front desk staff. It seems there is no coordination even though they are in the same office.My Bella has some chronic conditions and I have to get prescriptions on occasion.I called and was told a medication Bella needed was ordered and I would be called when it arrived.I never got the call. I called a week later and was told it arrived and it needed to be put together. I called and told the front desk I would pick it up and was told by a different person it was ready for pickup.No coordination or followup.

Be very careful of this place, they took advantage of my wife charged me 1400$ for an ear infection a few hours of treatment and some take home meds ... so we setup another appointment for a ear cleaning We had the appointment today for an ear cleaning 30$ With another vet in the same office and guess what they call and say she has an ear infection and want 600$??????????? That’s what you get at this place, I’m calling tomorrow to see how they handle this after spending all that money and poor dog is still sick i will update my review ... my advice RUN! Go somewhere honest and upfront ... they are very nice and polite when they take your money, let’s see how they handle problems .. I’ll update! ROSIE

Been bringing my girls to Care and Comfort for almost 20 years now. I drive from the Mission Bay area to have Dr Allen care for my fur babies.

This review is purely based on the difficulty it has been to get vet care scheduled since the pandemic and that they seem to no longer offer the services that made them a great place to get vetinary care. I am not sure if it is worth it to stay here if I can no longer get my dog vaccinated when she needs them and have to go to Petco or another clinic.

They care. They really really care and to be that’s what matters. Thank you taking such good care of my sweet Kobe.

This vet is a little more expensive than others but I wont take my Bassett Hound, Gemma anywhere else. All the staff and Doctors are animal lovers...it shows. My dog had a bad experience at Petsmart for a nail trim which left my girl with a serious mistrust of anyone! It was so sad. The Care and Comfort of the Assistants here have helped Gemma slowly overcome her fears. She is still a little skiddish but much better.

It is hard to write this review, because the staff, especially ladies at the front desk, are very friendly. But unfortunately, doctors screwed up my dog. The day I came there the first time I entered with a dog which was able to hear a whisper in the next room. The same day I left with a deaf dog. Long story short - he had an ear infection, and since there were some debris in his ear, the doctor decided to flush them. The doctor said that she had put some ointment inside, so the dog wouldnt be able to hear for the next 2 weeks. One thing was odd though - when I saw my dog he was totally freaked out. Hes usually afraid of clinics, so it seemed normal that time. But the next 3 (!) days he was severely depressed, which was super strange for this big puppy. It meant that he suffered from severe pain. Now Im almost sure that they punctured his eardrum that day. Of course, he didnt start hearing in 2 weeks, in 1 month, and he still doesnt hear now. I visited the clinic, and I was told that sometimes with 1 in a million chance, some medicine can cause a hear loss. Which I dont believe, since the dog was clearly in pain that day. And now you can imagine my feelings realizing the amount of pain he experienced and realizing the fact that he doesnt hear me anymore. So I decided to share my experience. Please be very careful choosing a clinic for your dog. Unfortunately, I wasnt lucky, and now my best friend is deaf. And its my fault too.

I really enjoy taking my dog to this vet. I went to a bunch of places for my dog, since he has really bad allergies. They always help me out with him and giving him the best service. A little pricey sometimes and the doctor there can over sale, but the grooming there is amazing!

It is never easy when your pet gets sick and nothing makes you feel better than to know that the vet your taking your pet too treats them as if the animal was there own. The staff is amazing, they always make me feel good and understand the stresses with taking care of a sick animal. My cat buddy is in good hands when he visits Care and Comfort. I will always take my pets to them and you should too.Update: (2/14/2020) Unfortunately I had to put my cat down last week at the age of 14.5 years old.Buddy wasnt always happy to visit the great staff at Care and Comfort, but I knew he was in good hands.I need to thank the entire staff at Care and Comfort for everything they did for buddy. The vets at Care and Comfort really went above and beyond for not only my puppy, but for us. My puppy, Bear, they diagnosed with Parvo virus and they were able to get us in every single day until he was better. We chose to do the outpatient treatments and they took the time to show me how to insert the IV fluids and injections, but also called everyday to check in on his progress. Every time I doubted that Bear was going to make it, they were hopeful and told me not to give up. I now have a healthy dog who loves going to the vet. Thank you for everything!!

Ive been to several vets in the east county over the years, and never felt that my animals were in the best of care. Everything changed when I discovered Care & Comfort. The entire staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. If you have questions about options/costs - which most of us do - they thoroughly and patiently discuss them with you until you feel comfortable. They are kind, professional, and will treat your pet with a level of respect and caring that I find remarkable. Love them....

Love the service, the hospitality, and the love to Junior my bulldog. He is doing so good after his surgery. And I can tell he got loved, we came out so happy and excited.

Theyve always gone above and beyond for my little ones. Always thorough, always sincere and they never make me feel like Im being tricked into something I dont need. I have to say my babies love this place and so do I. Such a loving, organized, caring group. I’ve tried other groomers because they are closer to where I live only to have my poor poosdle suffer once again with ear infections. Since I started bringing Monty here he has not suffered with ear infections after hair removal. The groomer here is exceptional! Thanks to all of you for loving my babies when we board them as well. In November we purchased a 9 week old Golden Retriever to train as a service dog for our son.We live near Care and Comfort and had used them to spay our cat a couple years back - so after getting our new pup, before we even took her home, we took her for her first check up.Sydney is treated like a Queen there!After completing all her vaccinations and then some, she gets a monthly treat of an Ears to Rears Spa Day - and comes home looking so beautiful!I wouldnt change vets for anything - our big girl loves going!

I had my dog groomed here and I loved their service! I paid $60 for a bath, RVT exam, anal glands, ear cleaning, tooth brushing, and nail trim/file. My dog is one of the hardest dogs when it comes to nails and they were still able to do a fantastic job! Im very happy with their grooming service!

I have 2 cats and 1 dog and Care and Comfort is the only vet I will take them to. They are caring and after a visit to the office, they always follow up with a phone call to check on their progress. The office works hard to fit me into their schedule on a short notice. The staff is friendly and treats my pets as their own.

The staff at this clinic really does care! Both for the animals and their humans. The low cost spay & neuter program goes a long way to help families. And the caring continues once your pet goes home, with phone calls to make sure all is well.

Great customer service.Tried multiple vets for years before this one for a condition my dog had...none could fix the problem. They just kept prescribing steroids or other harsh/expensive drugs. Care and Comfort suggested a new food (perscription food), and it solved the problem! Cheaper, and with no side effects.Its been 3 years and he is still happy and healthy!

We’ve been going to C&C since we arrived in El Cajon a little over a year ago. We have three cats and a (rescue) dog. We’ve had to put down one dog and one cat in the past year. In all our consultations and transactions, C&C has been efficient and sympathetic. They are not inexpensive, but we are satisfied that we get best value for our money.

I love this veterinary hospital. I have been taking my pets there since 1994 and dont want to go anywhere else. We moved recently and I still go out of my way to have my dog treated by them. My dog, Echo, loves the staff and wiggles his tail 90 miles an hour when he sees them.

I have had nothing but good experiences here. I first came to Care and Comfort after adopting a dog I found on Craigslist. When I searched through the SNAP directory of vets in the area offering low cost spay and neuter, this was one of the closest to where I lived at the time. I brought my new pup to them to get his shots and have him neutered. They were so friendly and straightforward with me. They kept me posted on how he did, and after I came to pick him up, were very thorough in their explanation of at home care for the next couple of weeks. They even called to check up on him a few days later! I was sold by that point. I have two more animals now, and live in Santee, but I continue to come here for the customer service I receive, the way they treat me and my pets, and the honesty of the vets who work here.

I am new to Care & Comfort but my boyfriend has been going there for years. My first experience was last May when our boy Kona got cancer. They were so compassionate and allowed us to say our goodbyes under a tree in the back so as to not upset him. Recently I took my 10 year old doxie there for dental treatment and they were awesome with her. Our new puppy Barry is their latest patient and they are professional, the facilities are immaculate and they explained everything clearly to us. I also saw them handle an emergency when we were there and they couldnt have been more caring and compassionate. 5 stars all the way!

My dog had a bad reaction to a rabies vaccine causing life threatening symptoms and the doctors at Care and Comfort were able to diagnose and treat her illness quickly. I could not be happier and will not take my pets to any other vet. I highly recommend this vet to anyone with a cat or dog.

Doc Cindy actually fixed my first lab mix when it was called ABC Veterinarian Hospital and she was with me when I had to say goodbye to Micky!! I will always trust them with my new babies. Only reason Norra has not been here sooner is because we lived in North County.

My cat has been a patient of care and comfort for 18 years. Treatment has always been a good experience for her and me.

I just moved out to El Cajon and never really thought about a vet out here because my other vet is right next to my work until one day I needed to bring my dog in. Long story short, I really liked them a lot and the price is fair. They actually listen to me when I say what happened or whats been going on and they go from there. I had another vet in Pacific Beach who was decent but she never listened to me. It was always something else and lets try this and that. I hate that. After lots of time and money and the same medication and her not listening, I finally took my other Lab to another vet and my poor girl had to be put to sleep because it was too late. Its very upsetting when they dont listen to you. I appreciate that you guys listen and everyone is always so nice and happy and the facility is always so clean.

Care and Comforts quote to clean my dogs teeth was very inflated. I called around and found the same service for at least 30% less at most places. When I brought this to their attention, they were extremely rude. Vet bills are expensive and it is too bad that there are those like this in business. I would call around before accepting a quote from here.

This veterinary office was able to help me when I unexpectedly rescued a cat off the street when my existing vet would not. I am forever in their debt. They are now my sole vet. I will be taking all three of my fur babies to them for future care.

THEY ALMOST KILLED MY CAT! I recently took my 1 1/2 year old cat to this vet because he had been throwing up, became extremely lethargic, and would not eat or drink. This vet took an x-ray and told us our cat had a blockage in his intestines and there was NO POSSIBLE way that he would pass it. She then proceeded to tell us that the only options were to give our cat surgery that would cost thousands of dollars, or to put him down right there on the spot. Instinctively, their diagnosis combined with their high pressure tactics made me question their integrity. I ended up taking my cat home, hoping for the best, and now he has FULLY RECOVERED. IF YOU WANT YOUR PET TO LIVE, DONT GO TO THIS VET!

I have a dog that is very scared of the vet. He is like a wild trapped child and let me tell you not very co-operative while in their care and needs a musle. I have gone to many vets that say he should be put down. But this place understands and took their time with my dog. They knew what his actions ment and they were no where close to being an Im going to kill you behaviour all just scared out of his mind. They are the best in town. I would even travel cross town just to bring my dog to them. You wont find place more caring then Care and Comfort Veterinary Hospital. I would recommend this place to everyone.

I take my dogs to Care and Comfort and started using them a few years back when I needed to have a dog nutured. Took my puppy there a few monthts ago and they determined he had a yeast infection I had taken him in to get groomed. They called several times after treating him to see if he was OK. They really to seem to care.

If you’re looking for a vet hospital that practices A+ medicine, this is the place to go. My wife and I have been bringing our pets here since we’ve moved back to El Cajon and we haven’t had a single issue. They’ve done three dentals, one spay, one neuter, general wellness exams, etc, and I’m happy to announce we have some very happy furry family members at home.Most of our appointments have been with Dr. Karlberg but honestly the entire staff at care and comfort is great. You can tell each employee there is very qualified and experienced at what they do. Something else I really like about the hospital is while they’re performing a procedure on your pet, they’ll take pictures as they go to show you exactly what they did and why it needed to be done. I don’t work in the veterinary field but they do a great job of educating you on exactly what’s going on with your pet’s health. I can go on.. Either way, exceptional hospital. Go in and check them out, I’m sure you’ll agree. Thank you care and comfort.

Hi, I was really pleased with my experiences at Care and Comfort Veterinary Hospital! I think they have a great feeling for animals, and my cat, who is very skittish, was comfortable with them, and they even said he was not difficult!

I have been going to this vet for many years now and I LOVE THEM. They have taken care of all three of my dogs...Carly, Moxy, and Daisy..There is not one staff in that office that is not caring or treated me any other way than respectful. I love the call backs to check on your pet when it has been treated for anything. They are always on the mark about their diagnosis and how it should be treated. I read other reviews about the cost of their services but I have searched and their prices are very much in the ballpark of ALL other vets. Once you become close customers with them you will really see how awesome they can be. I refer all my friends and customers to care and comfort because they are what their name is. I can completely guarantee that you will out feeling good about the care your furry friend has got. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME and Thank you!!!!! Brought my dog in to get her spayed. It cost a bit more than I was hoping but they were up front about the costs and answered all my questions. Staff are friendly and you can tell they care.

Staff - AmazingPrice - AverageCustomer Service - AmazingIf I stated my whole story this would turn into a LONG review so I will keep it short.-My dog Chica was extremely sick, so I brought her in for a check up, being tight on money the whole check up took 2 weeks to do, 1 week for labs the other when I had the cash for X-Rays.-Through this entire 2 weeks the staff, Docs, Techs and Receptionists would call to see how Chica was doing, and ask me some questions on how shes feeling.-Finally we got the X-Rays and saw what we thought was an immediate life-threatening infection of an organ. They gave me a quick run up of the price I knew I wouldnt be able to pay it all upfront and they worked with me. Which already is above any of my expectations from an Animal Hospital(The one my family had when I was growing up wasnt as willing for that)Now before I was even done getting the payment worries done the doctor came to inform me that regardless of how we figure out how I can pay for it, she is going in to Chica to remove the infection. I was so speechless from the pure act of kindness. Its something I have NEVER seen in my life first hand at any animal hospital to choose a pets life over a paycheck.....Im still amazed by it and this was 2 months ago.-Chica recovered and during the recovery again I was called daily and I went in daily so they give her a check up, It wasnt required but whats 5 minutes a day to ensure my doggy is healthy.
